This Hostel/Hotel was easily one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. Upon arriving Pierre instantly explained everything clearly about the hotel as well as local activities. I didn’t feel like I had to once hesitate to ask for help, and Pierre answered all my questions with a smile. The free breakfast was absolutely fantastic and I was left feeling both satisfied and energised for my daily activities before leaving in the morning - you won’t be disappointed! The AC worked perfectly in the dorm and meant I had 3 very comfortable night sleep’s. Extra privacy was provided by the ‘capsule’ style of the dorms which I loved and found especially good for this part of the world by hostel standards. Everything was clean and the pool was very refreshing and a nice amenity given the intense humidity of being situated by the ocean. The only downside for me was that the cleaner lady was a little rude and upfront about putting my dishes away after I had only just finished cooking. I understand a communal kitchen needs to be kept clean for others but at 3pm in the afternoon (when I made my lunch) it would have at least been nice to enjoy my meal first before washing up as there were no other people around waiting to use the kitchen at this time. Nonetheless, for the price and my overall experience, I can’t recommend this place enough! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We arrived to Tucan Hotel without a Booking and they welcomed us with open arms and a REALLY fair price. The hotel is great! The common kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook something, there's some board games you can use and they provide great tips to ensure you make the most of your stay. We had an issue with the A/C on our first night and they immediately changed US rooms (giving us an upgrade). Breakfast is probably the best we had in Costa Rica! I had an injury when I arrived and they were kind to provide me with loads of ice and support to look for a nearby pharmacy. Location is great! You have a Supermarket, a Bank and plenty of restaurants within a short walk.

Probably my favorite hostel in Costa Rica. Good vibes. 20-30 minutes non pleasant walk to the ocean tail. There are nice waterfalls nearby, butterfly place, a bamboo forest, markets and many restaurants too. The bus station to San Jose is 5 minutes walk. Nice bar with cheap price on the site. I loved the pool, and watching the horses and poultry the other side of the fence. The owner is very helpful. The dorms are the best I've seen. Take the top level to have the fabulous view of the mountains in the morning. It feels like sleeping in a tree!

Really loved staying here! Pierre is super nice, the breakfast was great with extensive buffet options, there is a pool and lovely large sitting space, a kitchen, parking spaces etc. Everything was very clean as well. There is both a dorm and private rooms

Best Hotel I stayed in Costa Rica! Really nice place with a very friendly and helpful owner and staff! Rooms are modern and clean as well as the common area! Pool is nice to hang out after a long tour day, even saw a Tucan in the trees next to the pool :)

I stayed at the dorm, which turned out to be really nice. You have a feeling of privacy because of the curtains they installed, yet it doesn't feel claustrophobic. Furthermore the owner and his staff are really nice and welcoming. In addition the hotel is kept really clean. A nice addition would be some hooks inside the sleeping area to hang something up. Accessibility: the bus station is very close. But if you can rent a car, motorcycle or a scooter. It makes life much easier. Parking spaces are available and secure at the hotel. In addition there are nice waterfalls nearby (one for free and the other one is 2 doller entrance fee) good area for running and hiking. The beach is a bit further away (ca. 3km).

I had an incredible stay at the Tucan Hotel! The entire place was meticulously cared for and clean, and all of the staff were wonderful, constantly going above and beyond to answer questions and even make suggestions for the remainder of my travels around Costa Rica. I couldn't have asked for a better stay in Uvita, and I can't wait to go back! I stayed in the dorm room and it was great! Each person gets a locker big enough for a rucksack, and each bed had a curtain giving it complete visual privacy. Breakfast of fresh fruit, rice, beans and eggs (plus sausage if you like!) was delicious!! It was also an incredibly easy 3-4 minute walk to get to, once you get off the Tracopa bus from San Jose. Public bus to Dominical leaves from just around the corner. Thanks so much, Tucan Hotel!!

Has nice AC and a pool. Find it strange they enforce no personal water bottles on half the hostel because they are trying to sell beer in their “bar”. For one, I am sober, and two, I am not lounging in the sun or going without my personal h2o anywhere in the country of costa rica nor will I walk across two rooms to take a sip to go back to the pool area. For that reason, I won’t be spending another night here.
