Me and a good friend just returned from a moose hunting trip of a life time at Tuckamore Lodge! Well where do I start….this place is a must for anyone who hasn’t been here or are thinking about visiting, take it from me….book it! We booked a 6 day moose hunt as 2 hunters and 1 guide, we drove from Ontario. Upon arrival we were met with smiles and unmatched hospitality the moment we stepped out of my truck, it was like we knew Barb and her team all our lives, they made us feel right at home and showed us our rooms so we could get settled in upon arrival. The rooms are very very nicely done and comfortable, we were 2 guys with a bunch of hunting gear and there was more than enough room for us in the room. Then there was the food! You will not go to bed hungry here folks, the food and the kitchen staff are amazing! 3 home cooked meals with fresh homemade bread every day, the ladies in the kitchen are a great bunch as well, they sure run a tight ship with meal prep and presentation and it certainly shows! Our guide Tyson was awesome, very knowledgeable, knew the land and terrain like the back of his hand, we both had our bull moose by end of day 2! The whole guide team here are awesome to tell the truth, great guys who again made you feel as if you knew them as soon as you spoke to them. We will be back Barb! Thank you for the memories

This was my second visit to Tuckamore Lodge and my second hunt. The Lodge is exceptional and the staff even better. The scenery is spectacular. In the Spring see whales, puffins and ice bergs. The salmon fishing is world class. If you bear hunt you Will have the opportunity to harvest at close range. In the Fall is moose season. All of the guides are knowledgeable, experienced and exceptional. Of 16 hunters 13 harvested moose and two caribou. The one unsuccessful moose hunter had numerous opportunities inside 100 yards. If you are looking for a very reasonably priced vacation or hunting experience there is no better place to go.

Tuckamore lodge is one of the most beautiful spots you would ever want to visit! Comfortable rooms, and enjoyable settings to sit and chat or just chill! Cooks are awsome, food was delicious and plentiful! This was my second stay there and it certainly won’t be my last!!! Thank you again to Barb and staff!!!

This was the best hunt experience we have ever had. Guides were all top notch, knowledgeable, experienced, fun guys. All staff was incredible and super helpful. The hunt itself was amazing, from the landscape to the animals themselves an absolutely beautiful part of the country. The lodge is very clean and accommodating as our expectations were definitely surpassed. We felt very at home and like family with all the staff in no time. No doubt a 5 start place and somewhere I would highly recommend. Thanks Barb and staff at tuckamore for everything.

This was my kind of place. My wife booked it mostly for my benefit but she and my seven-year-old were quite impressed with its rustic beauty. I could easily imagine come back to hunt if my father were still alive (he taught me and would have enjoyed and appreciated this place greatly if I had brought him). I'm sure it is a wonderful place in winter too (we stayed during the brief summer in 2012).

Lovely cottage style by the water. Very secluded and peaceful. The sauna was a great treat. Make sure to bring bugspray as the horse flies or “stout flies” as they call them, do bite. As well, there are lots of mosquitos in the area. One thing to mention that we were not informed of, was that the dinners provided do cost money. We would have been happy to pay if we were aware of what the costs were, but when we got in late at 8pm we were told to join the dining room for dinner. There was no mention that there was even a cost, no menu outlining the prices at the table, nothing said in our reservation confirmation or even a note in our room to inform us that dinner prices vary based on what’s being served. Add to that, they’ll keep bringing you food, including dessert without telling you that it’s another $10 in addition to the dinner cost that can vary between $30 and $45 per person depending on what they give you. We made mention to other guests how lovely it was to be served both dinner and breakfast, when we were told “Oh no, meals are anywhere from $35 to $55 per dinner” after we’d already indulged in two dinners. When we discussed this with the owner, we were told “if you can’t afford it, then don’t pay.” Of course, we could afford it, and this felt an insulting comment to make to us, as we were just frustrated that prices were not communicated to us in any way, shape or form. We ended up paying for the dinners, but it left a sour taste. Breakfast is, however, included. The staff who serve the food are lovely and accommodating. You just must let them know of any dietary preferences or allergies, as you will not be asked about this. The beds were comfortable enough, and the guests were very considerate of one another regarding noise as you are all in a large cabin style house together. Tuckamore Lodge is an hour and a half drive from L’anse aux meadows and an hour to the nearest larger town St Anthony’s. I would recommend making plans for dinner if you don’t want to eat at the lodge and giving yourself lots of time to get there and back.

This is a very nice lodge that is quiet and atmospheric. The staffs are really caring and hospitable who went above and beyond to ensure the comfort and enjoyment their guests. My only problem is that the walls are not very well sound-proofed and we can hear every conversation of other guests above and next to us even though they speak softly.

I visited Tuckamore Lodge for a week of snowmobiling and ice fishing. Had a wonderful time with the guides, who took me to a number of great fishing spots. Went on several extended trail rides and experienced lovely scenery and saw wildlife. If you are lucky enough to visit, make sure you have a side trip to the Remote Lodge at Whites Arm Pond. Meals were excellent and the homemade deserts even better. Best of all was the friendly and couterous staff, all of whom have become friends.
