We had a wonderful meal full of great flavors and attentive service. Some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. The lamb was superb. Felt right at home and was perfect for our family gathering

Google
I arrived about 10 minutes after the restaurant opened, so there was no wait time, and I felt welcomed right away as I sat at the bar. The waiter was great at first, but as the place filled up, the wait times became quite long—especially for coffee, which took over 15 minutes. The wait for things like my takeout box was also excessive. I mentioned to the gentleman behind the bar that while I know it’s not his fault, more help would be beneficial during busy times, and he was very professional about it. The food was good but not as hot as I’d hoped. I also expected it to be a little tastier and juicier. The dessert, however, was delicious. I also really enjoyed the Turkish coffee, and the cocktail I had was magnificent. Overall, the staff was kind, and the atmosphere was nice, but the long wait times were disappointing. More help behind the bar would likely improve the experience. I would definitely go back to try it again.

Google
I have never been here for anything but stellar service and food. Sunday brunch is superb and the kebobs for dinner never disappoint. Swordfish and beef are my favorite. For an appetizer get the meza sampler. You will NOT be disappointed. We were 3 people and got the smaller order. More than enough with our meal. The wine flight was really good and worth it.

Very good food. Had breakfast platter and sucuk & eggs. Both authentic Turkish food , and also suitable for others not accustomed. Owner is very friendly

Food was really good, quite small portion. Our server was really knowledgeable and he did an amazing job ❤️

Google
A small confusion over a reserved table was quickly resolved and we sat in the dining room. Delicious and interesting cocktails and even better food. This restaurant excels at lamb in many forms from kefte to lamb stuffed eggplant. Desserts offered a short selection… the Turkish delight three perfect slices! Attentive and warm service made the meal a real treat. We’ll be back!

Google
Such a wonderful hidden a gem! I live in FL and only visit once a year but this place is always a must. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and the owners are nice and personable. Reservations are a MUST! This place fills up fast. Be sure to visit their store across the street, Little Istanbul where they sell spices from around the world that can be purchased by the ounce. I’m a cook so I fill up on my spices from here and some times try new things.

Google
Must have is the kunafe. I know this is a dessert but just order it and will not regret it unless you’re lactose intolerant or allergic to nuts. If so very unfortunate. The meat platter and the lamb stew? whatever I ordered in the picture was a chef’s kiss. No other words to say. Service was great, it was a little busy so service was a bit slow but who cares if the food is good.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would. Service and food were outstanding. I went with a large group. Appetizers were on our table upon arrival. Zack was attentive and gave good recommendations. I highly recommend Tuckerbox and can't wait to plan a return visit.

Yelp
What a delightful experience. Gorgeous day, bluebird sunny, early autumn, foliage change in full bloom, and I just happened to be in WRJ to enjoy it. I could have been in Europe with the scenery and the people. Tuckerbox is next to the Junction Arts and Media locale, so the place was animated with artsy people as well as visitors and leaf peepers. Service was flawless. I had their gyro on lavash, which was superb. A cappuccino was also part of the faire. The menu looks distinct and appetizing. Definitely return.

Keeley G.

Yelp
A really great spot for WRJ! We were one of the last seatings of the night and they had sold out of many of their entrees, so come early. I recommended getting a side of babaganoush if you like me, like having a sauce or spread with your meat. Will be back!

Yelp
Yum!! Lunchtime on a Tuesday and the place is hopping! Food - delicious. Service - friendly and attentive. Ambience - warm, relaxing, interesting. I can't wait to come back!

Jim B.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. I can't remember ever having Turkish food and I have been around for a long time. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and it is very clean. The hostess and our waiter were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was packed with diners even though it was well past noon. We both ordered the Döner (gyro meat) with side salad. We also ordered a Turkish round bread. The food arrived in about 15 minutes. The bread was so hot that steam was released (that's a good thing) when I broke off a piece. It was very tasty. The meal itself was also very good. The salad had a special Turkish dressing and there was a Turkish dipping sauce for the meat. Our entire experience in this restaurant was very positive. We can't wait to return for another lunch. The only problem for us is that it is 1 1/2 hours from home.

Lucy N.

Yelp
Delicious! My partner also liked the grilled cheese. Beautiful ambiance and table setting. Service was good!

Mosa H.

Yelp
Amazing Turkish meal, would've loved bigger portions at this price. The restaurant itself has authentic Turkish charm, with colored glass lamps and special tiling. There are two rooms of seating and all of the servers were attentive and kind. Specialty cocktails are definitely worth trying, especially the Black Sea Serpent (came with two flowers). We started with the large Turkish Meze Platter, which was supposed to be large enough for four people but would not satisfy a hungry group (we had to get another order of bread to split those two pieces). The hummus and babaganoush stood out as well-balanced favorites. The tzatziki was a bit sour-cream like, and could perhaps use some more garlic or other seasoning. It came with four grape leaves, which were savory and well seasoned, although perhaps a little soft for my liking. Bread was fantastic, although I could not see how four people could share just the one piece it came with. My main, the Lamb Meatballs, was incredibly delicious, with well-seasoned meat, sizzling off the grill. The pickled cucumber cut through the grease and the rice was also fantastic. My one complaint again is that I would expect larger portion sizes at this price point.

Jack G.

Yelp
Excellent Turkish food! I love the combination of spices that they use. Came here for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pleasant decor that compliments the dishes they serve. Attentive service.

Jill S.

Yelp
Highly recommended . Our first time. We will be back. We were staying in Hanover NH and looking for something different we hadn't been. Service was great - waiter explained many dishes - food - excellent - drinks too

Aleksandar K.

Yelp
Great date spot and vibe check place in white river junction with pretty good food. It's a Festival of Lights in there Food/ Babaganoush 5/5: Very good thin Rosen bread with the spread, very light and addictive for an appetizer Doner 4.5/5: Very good and easy to eat, pretty good portion and like the sauce and rice that come along with it Balaclava 4.5/5: Great way to end the meal with this flakey, layered sweets for desserts Service: it's trendy and is what it is

Ivan M.

Yelp
Dinner was amazing. Service was excellent too. Personal touch of preparation of fish at your table. Thanks

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant. We brought our dog to outdoor dining and they gave us some water for her without us asking. All the food we tried was amazing and would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Ethan D.

Yelp
This meal was amazing!!! This was such a great time. We came here during the summer and sat outside and the seating was gorgeous! Our server was so kind and funny. He helped us pick out some delicious choices! The food was hands down just as amazing as it looks, I love the presentation of the food as well. My wife and I can't wait to revisit this restaurant next time we are nearby! This restaurant is a must have if you are in town or nearby!! Great Mediterranean food and desserts! Yakında görüşürüz!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Although we did not have a reservation, we were seated inside near a window where we watched the Amtrak train roll in across the street. The menu has several pages, and our server quickly arrived with water and to take our drink order. I choose a lavender spritz (lavender chamomile syrup, seltzer, and cream), which was smooth with a pleasant light lavender taste. My partner opted for Corinas Switchy (switchel, lime, and brazilian ginger). Our friends ordered the Caravan Saray (mazcal tequila, grand marnier, lemon juice, orange juice, and smoky spice). We opted to get several appetizers instead of entrees: the large meze platter, phyllo cheese rolls, falafel fritters, zucchini fritters, babaganoush, and lavash bread. The large meze (for 4) only is large if you plan to get entrees. It had 4 dolma, and about 4 tablespoons each of haydari, babaganoush, hummus, and ezme. The phyllo cheese rolls were a favorite of our friends, especially with the red pepper coulis. The falafel were flavored well and good with the dipping sauce. The zucchini fritters were crispy, but they tasted like the frying oil needed changing soon. We loved the babganoush enough to get a separate order of it. We would definitely order the hummus, ezme, and lavash again. My partner and I split a traditional baklava for dessert, while our friend selected a very rich tahini and helva brownie. Those were a nice finish to our appetizer dinner. The space interior of the space has lovely high ceilings, large glass windows to the street, and a variety of decor--some of it artwork for sale. There also were several outdoor tables for pretty days. Our friends who are new to the area will be regulars, and we'll come again when we visit them.

Thomas L.

Yelp
High ceilings warm ambiance with great light tones. Food is excellent, very fresh food. Grew up near White River and lived all over the country, best lamb I've ever had. Great service, everyone is working hard.

Katherine Carlson B.

Yelp
Love the homemade hummus snd bread. Service is excellent. A must go to! Only one "bad" thing, the baklava is too small!!!!

Chia L.

Yelp
24 Oct 19: came here after visiting some waterfalls in Green Mountains National forest. We ordered the small meme platter , the spice roasted chicken salad , the dorner beef and lamb salad , a beef pastrma side and the baklava. The chicken is very tasty and the dorner is well done.

Yelp
Staying in White River Junction and both my friend who I had been skiing with and the hotel staff recommended Tuckerbox for dinner. Located on Main Street just down the block from the Hotel Tuckerbox has a bunch of storefronts that they have converted into a lovely restaurant. The style is casual with Turkish accents that create a warm atmosphere. Service was great, they fitted me in even though most of the dining room already had reservations. The dinner menu is an extensive selection of Turkish favorites. For me there are so many great sounding items, from the Meze plate (assorted apps), swordfish kababs, stuffed eggplant or one of the Guvecs (casseroles). I finally decided on the Shrimp Guvec and an order of the lavash bread. After about 10 minutes my meal came out. The Shrimp Guvec is a hearty tomato casserole with eggplant, mushrooms, onions and peppers with large shrimp and some cheese beautifully presented in a fish shaped dish. The Guvec is really delicious and a great meal on a cold and snowy night. The Guvec comes with a side of rice pilaf, very mild in flavor but it works as a great add-in to the dish to give it more body. The lavash is a huge freshly baked flatbread, mild and perfect to use to sop up the extra sauce. I really enjoyed my dinner at Tuckerbox, great food, wonderful atmosphere and good service. Turkish food is excellent with plenty of flavorful choices. Tuckerbox is also open early in the day for coffee and baked goods for breakfast and a lunch menu. If you are in White River Junction you should check out Tuckerbox.

Wels D.

Yelp
Average at best. Was waiting at the reception for several minutes. Not one employee acknowledged my presence and a couple that came in way after were seated before me. Tried the grilled lamb and it had a sweet taste. Extremely small portions and overpriced.

Small Town G.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Waiter was way too laidback and did not demonstrate any knowledge of Turkish cuisine. Show some enthusiasm! I don't see how this restaurant has built up a following . Plates were not clean when served to us. Food was relatively unseasoned. Appetizer portions were small and entrees were small. Do not recommend.

Jess M.

Yelp
Food was mostly flavorful- what stood out was the lamb and the fresh bread as well as the dipping sauces. The service was terrible - always having to ask 2x for something a simple as napkins or water. The food took a very long time to get out and our waiter was just not intuitive or seemed to care about making our stay that relaxing. The lavender mixed virgin drink I got was creamy and light.

Cathy S.

Yelp
A friend and I visited Tuckerbox for lunch and were seated outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather. I ordered the Pastrima and eggs. What a delicious treat! The pastrima was full of flavor and I know I'll be craving it again. The eggs were perfectly prepared and served with crisp cubes of well seasoned potatoes which yielded a soft fluffy interior. Just a perfect dish! My friend ordered the spice roasted chicken sandwich and offered me a bite. Moist chicken with a cumin kick as memory serves. He was very pleased with his meal and I thought it was quite tasty too. Service was attentive, professional and gauged to match our dining pace. My only regret was we were unable to return for dinner and sample more of the menu! Our visit to Tuckerbox was the culinary highlight of our visit to Vermont.

Nadine M.

Yelp
Wonderful food and atmosphere. We sat at the bar because the tables were full. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Best meal I've had at a restaurant in a very long time.

Elysa S.

Yelp
I'm so glad this place has been able to stick around! I visit family in the area periodically and Tuckerbox is always a delicious option, especially as a vegetarian.

Kevin K.

Yelp
Wonderful varied Turkish menu, with both classic dishes and some new twists! Beautifully rendered and well served!

Kirk C.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Aesthetically laid out and warmly lit dining area with large windows. The food, although quality, is not worth the expense from my perspective. My wife and I split a doner kabab, falafel, and small desert, and two beers. Total before taxes (over 10% in VT!) and tip was over $60. In Houston, a similar Turkish meal would cost less than $30-35. The beers - both from local breweries - were excellent.

Tracy B.

Yelp
A group of 9 of us were going to dinner & last minute our plans changed. Tuckerbox graciously seated us in the beginning of a busy night. They'd told us ahead of time that they'd need the table in 90 minutes. We were happy with that! The food, service & ambience were all top notch. Our party shared 2 Meze Platters. The Babaganoush & Hummus were delicious, as well as the bread. We also ordered one of each of the hot appetizers. They were all delicious. The Istanbul Salad was really tasty & pretty as well. Some of our party ordered Kebobs & other dishes. Everyone was happy & every bite was eaten. The decor is comfortable & colorful. Parking is convenient. Our waiter was very helpful & pleasant. I highly recommend this establishment.

Claudia S.

Yelp
Where in the world is white sticky rice called Turkish Rice Pilaf? Well...you can find this bland concoction here. Not good. The lamb meatball was so overcooked it was like a hockey puck. And to charge $9 for 2 one inch squares of a brownie is ridiculous. Overpriced and underwhelming.

Jeremy J.

Yelp
Extremely dissapointed in this place. Heard it was decent and left very dissapointed, so much to create a Yelp account and review here. I ordered take-out three items totaling nearly $40.. $40!!! Food came in a very small quantity, was room temperature, and way overpriced. The Babaganoush came in those small plastic pasta salad to-go containers and was $9 alone, while the Beyti Kebab were literally 8 bite-sized pieces of meat and totaled $24. Overpriced and overrated - don't waste your time and money here - stay away!! Giving two stars because the service was fine and seemed like eating at the place had a good ambiance.

Jeff W J.

Yelp
This place is one of the best places in the upper valley for one reason: the dessert menu. Coming from a big city, I've had my fair share amazing Turkish food. The appetizer and lamb kebab was good, not amazing. The desserts are what changed my mind. The Kunefe was the perfect mixture of sweet, gooey, and crunchy (with the pistachios). The baklava impressively had two well-balanced layers: one softer softer soaked in sweet glaze and another crispier layer on top. The desserts were incredible and are a must. However, there are some things that made me consider a 4-rating. The price of the appetizers and entrees relative to the quantity are a little two much: $10 for two small Pachanga Borek and $24 for 5 pieces of lamb. We were hungry around 5 hrs after an $105 meal. I've definitely had food of better quality and price in the big city. Overall: Fast and attentive service, amazing desserts, and amazing vibe to the indoor space. Will definitely be returning. Tip: Be sure to make a reservation before you go to secure a spot and avoid the wait!

Sue B.

Yelp
Excellent find and a delicious cocktail. Highly recommend sharing a few appetizers and also ordering A guvec of your preference.

Mindy F.

Yelp
it was good but is a bit hit or miss now. just ok food, it seemed better a few years ago.

Anne R.

Yelp
We loved our meal here! The food was amazing! All of our dishes were so good and came our quick and hot. The lights in the restaurant were beautiful and the outdoor seating was nice too. Definitely a winner.

Rebekah P.

Yelp
I absolutely love Tuckerbox! The atmosphere is unique and very inviting. The staff was kind, efficient, and helpful. The food is to die for! I can't seem to breakaway from the falafel wrap - it is phenomenal! We had the stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer last time and they were different than any other stuffed grape leaves I ever had before - and completely yummy. My daughter had a phyllo and cheese roll and home fries and both were very good (though the cheese roll was on the saltier side). Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the Upper Valley.

Ira B.

Yelp
Had lunch what a great spot for out for out of ordinary food - Turkish had chicken sando very flavourful highly recommend

Cindy Y.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service and an attractive place. If you want to continue your Turkish experience, stroll across the way and shop at Little Istanbul.

Petra B.

Yelp
Already loved the decor when we walked in. The food was delicious and the staff very welcoming and attentive. We shared the meze and the mixed grill which gave us the opportunity to sample different meats. Rounded up dinner with some Turkish tea, espresso and almond pudding. Definitely a keeper for my list!

Stephen H.

Yelp
Pretty solid choice for a meal in an area with few great options. Good stop when traveling back from skiing or any trip up North.

Rose M.

Yelp
Second time here and todays meal was excellent. We started w the octopus app that was so tender and flavorful. I wish I had double the portion. We had the chicken kabobs that came w rice. They were seasoned well and also excellent. We then shared Lamb Güveç (Kuzulu) Tender pieces of grilled marinated lamb with tomato, mushroom, onion, pepper, eggplant. Again delicious. Portions are not large so getting 2 plates and sharing seemed ideal. I did try a white wine flight. It was on the pricey side ($17) but nice to try. Dessert: Tahini & Helva Brownie dark chocolate brownie stuffed with turkish helva, finished with a marbling of tahini and baked to perfection. served with crème fraîche. Very dense and delicious. We had such a lovely time here. I will be coming back

yori l.

Yelp
Went there for dinner with the family. Great, fast service. The food is very tasty, both appetizers, main, and desserts. All were good, and the place/atmosphere was calming as well. Highly recommended.

Tamar K.

Yelp
How have I not reviewed a place I've been to 100 times? That's always beyond me. This is a consistent, nice, unique place for the Upper Valley. The food is always very good. I especially like the zucchini fritters (not gluten free) and the mixed grill, which is gluten free and dairy free and gives you a giant sample of everything. Their babaganush is really good and unique. Huge drink menu, some desserts, well marked for food allergies too. The staff is always great and I love the decor. We have been twice during covid. They still have tables outside, well spaced (a few heat lamps) and the set up has gotten prettier. Inside has plexiglass between the tables. There's antibacterial on every table. And because the town is empty, parking is easy!

Brittany B.

Yelp
As a genuine lover of Mediterranean food, I can't believe I almost left vermont without trying this place! Everything was top notch. The food and drinks came out Lightning fast, during their dinner rush might I add. I forgot our server's name, but he was attentive and very good at his job. If you are ever in white river junction you NEED to try this place. You won't regret it.

Kat C.

Yelp
Loved this place! You know what made it even more special? The chef and staff agreed to stayed open a bit later just for us. They knew that we had just arrived nearby and and with all restaurants and stores closing soon - they graciously agreed to welcome and feed us. And so thrilled they did. We ate like royalty and everything was delicious. The freshness, the flavors and the service are a winning combination for us. We had the loveliest server - Dev - not sure perhaps Tev. He was magnificent. We can't wait to return. Thank you!

Eric S.

Yelp
Nice, casual but polished atmosphere. The food is authentic enough to satisfy: something about it feels too fancy to be a grab n go coffee/street food spot...casual enough for a sit down snack & tea with a friend...the service is adequate

Ai H.

Yelp
We had reservations tonight and saw two empty tables by the window so we asked to be seated by the window, but were told by the host they are only reserved for a party of 4. Can you please explain to me the difference of our 3 person party and their 3 person party? These two parties of 3 people each were seated by the window literally right after we sat down. Moreover, what is the difference between a 3 or 4 person party at a 4 person table???

Stuart O.

Yelp
The family was not unanimous on this rating. We had two fives and two fours, but I am writing it and was a 5 vote so got to pick. This is a really good, authentic, Turkish restaurant. We got 3 appetizers--baba ganouch, hummus and zucchini fritters. The fritters were a bit bland but still tasty. Hummus and baba great. Serving size was a little small. We also got fresh made lavash bread--right out of the oven! Shis kabab was delicious and complemented by pickled cabbage and sumac flavored onions. Daughter got kofte roll that came with some fresh yogurt. Son got one of the Turkish earthenware dishes. Definitely will come back if we visit white River junction again! Oh, sister forgot, we got two drinks that were to die for! Both gin based (garden gimlet and dragon's bane)

Victoria T.

Yelp
Tucker box is a little gem in the upper valley! The menu is varied, the waitstaff is professional and personable. The shrimp casserole is delish! Excellent cocktails. Amazing dolmades and puffy pita! It can be busy and a bit noisy but for us that just adds to the fun. The mezza Platter is tasty, but not a very good value.

Alan V.

Yelp
Great food but call ahead to make a reservation. The hostess was kind enough to squeeze us in which we really appreciated. Terrific food.

Jessie S.

Yelp
Wow, this place was phenomenal! It was very busy at lunch on Saturday, but we were seated with no problem. My husband and I shared a bottle of Turkish wine, small meze platter, Turkish red lentil soup, spice roasted chicken wrap...and for dessert, the kunefe, which you must try! Granted, the dessert takes 15 minutes to make and bake, but if you have a sweet tooth, you're going to LOVE it! The restaurant could have probably used an additional hostess and server(s) in order to provide slightly better customer service. We were not in a hurry and our waiter Obediah had great recommendations when we asked. The restaurant is in a cute, old historic town so if you have some extra time, plan to walk around!
