Based on our four night stay, it seems that the Tufenkian Historic Hotel trades mostly in group tours - our Cox & Kings gang numbered a mere eleven but there were much bigger gangs then ours, from France and Germany . . . and Russia. Walk into the restaurant at breakfast or dinner and there will be long tables and a lot of noise. If you are just a couple then this is probably not a hotel for you.||The staff in the restaurant coped well with the pressure and the food at dinner was surprisingly good, especially a sort of lamb stew. Armenian wines, too, were delicious. Breakfasts were less appealing, though the bread and croissants sustained us. ||Our room - 605 - was quite spacious with a huge and comfy bed, good pillows, adequate storage space, good lighting and a long desk area. Charging points lacked USB ports. The bathroom was also large with a walk-in shower that probably needed a refit because the water temperature had a mind of its own. The room was blissfully quiet.||We liked the Tufenkian Heritage. As you enter the lobby and see the bar and the bustle it has the look of a classic city hotel and it’s in a striking building. The location is excellent, near Freedom Square which is wonderful at night, and also by the street market. The centre of Yerevan is walkable and it’s a great city to explore.
