We walked past this place and made note that they do mezcal tastings. We were originally going to go to the mezcal and tequila museum, but we didn't make it. So on our last day, we walked here to do a tasting and buy some mezcal to take home. I'm pretty sure i learned as much here as I would have at the museum. Joel poured for us and answered (in-depth!) every single question I had. And since all I had was the (incorrect) idea that "mezcal = smoky tequila", I had a lot of questions We tasted 10+ mezcals and ended up buying a few bottles. They also had a nice selection of smaller bottles that you can bring in your carry-on, which was great because I didn't have checked luggage. This was honestly one of the best experiences I've had in CDMX. I learned so much about mezcal, including the history, industry, and even how to drink and taste it. And their selection focuses on small, independent, mezcalerias that you probably can't find many other places Pretty much gonna tell everyone I know going to CDMX to go to this shop for mezcal

10/10 experience! Great mezcal tasting and the hosts/owners are incredible. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful atmosphere and included a cheese and fruit pairing to complement. We ended up buying 8 bottles to take home because they were so good and cheaper than buying in the US. Great prices! Must go if you like mezcal, or are interested in it!

We want to thank the owner for a lovely tasting experience. We stumbled on this lovely place and we welcomed into an impromptu tasting. He let us try almost every type of Mezcal and other unique spirits to help us determine what we liked. A magical experience

Had a really fun time at Tugurio Mezcal tasting! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they’re really passionate about the history of mezcal and teaming up with artisanal/local mezcal producers. We were able to try a couple of mezcals that weren’t in the tasting at the end and we ended up buying a few bottles.

2025 #12 (CDMX #12, Boutique #1, Mezcal #1): this review is well overdo as I have visited (at least) three times! Tugurio is *the best* place to buy mezcal (and agave spirits) not only in Mexico City (or even Mexico--but maybe the whole world!). Estefania, Joel, and Carlos are all incredibly knowledgable and friendly. The concept behind the boutique is to let people try a variety of spirits to find what they like best. Every time I visit, I try something completely new, and it's always a great experience. In addition to sampling mezcales before buying them, they also offer proper tasting sessions/experiences as well. Whether you are visiting or live here, I highly recommend stepping into the store! My friends and I did a tasting here and had an incredible time. Carlos was so lovely and helpful in explaining all the types of mezcal. We couldn’t resist buying a few bottles after!

Joel was so knowledgeable and very friendly. This was a highlight of our trip because we learned so so so much about mezcal. We did the Mezcal Virgin tasting (5 different mezcals with light pairings) - and we highly recommend this experience to anyone who is curious about Mezcal and willing to have an open mind and try it in a fun way.
