The 24 Best Things to Do in Bali

"Tukad Cepung, located in East Bali, is one of the island’s most photogenic falls, a small site leaving a major impression on travelers willing to scale the numerous steps and crossings to see it. While there are prettier, larger, and less touristy waterfalls up in northern Bali, Tukad Cepung is one of the closest to Ubud and the popular beach towns. Everyone’s come for the plunging attraction they’ve likely seen on social media: a trickling, wide-bodied curtain of water inside a dark circular canyon wall. The waterfall is at its most magical in the morning and midday hours, as sun rays illuminate the scene creating prisms of light. Tukad Cepung’s main draw is the natural light show which occurs in the earlier portion of the day. Arrive mid- to late morning for less crowded encounters, as snap-happy tourists start to flood the area by noon." - Travis Levius

Tukad Cepung Waterfall — Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Let’s start big picture here. Tukad Cepung, located in East Bali, is one of the island’s most photogenic falls, a small site leaving a major impression on travelers willing to scale the numerous steps and crossings to see it. While there are prettier, larger, and less touristy waterfalls up in northern Bali, Tukad Cepung is one of the closest to Ubud and the popular beach towns. Any standout features or must-sees? Everyone’s come for the plunging attraction they’ve likely seen on social media: a trickling, wide-bodied curtain of water inside a dark circular canyon wall. The waterfall is at its most magical in the morning and midday hours, as sun rays illuminate the scene creating prisms of light. Was it easy to get around? After paying a small entrance fee, it’s a 20-minute trek down a couple hundred steps—some of them steep, slippery and uneven—some ankle-deep stream crossings, and a squeeze through narrow gorge walls before arriving at the falls. It’ll be challenging for most with mobility issues; wear sturdy sandals or shoes to protect feet from prickly pebble stones. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? Tukad Cepung’s trump card is the natural light show which occurs in the earlier portion of the day. Arrive mid- to late morning for less crowded encounters, as snap-happy tourists start to flood the area by noon." - Travis Levius

Had a lot of fun 'trekking' and wading through water to get to the waterfall. I was most at awe when looking up at the lush greenery surrounding you. There was also a very cute pool that you could swim in looking at one of the waterfalls. Went on a Sunday, wasn't horribly busy. Definitely need to bring water shoes.

Two gorgeous waterfalls. They are worth visiting and taking a bath there. 10-15 to go down to the waterfalls. Good to have: - water shoes - waterproof backpack - swimming suit - waterproof case for your phone Expect a stairway with very big steps. Can be a bit difficult to climb them back. I went at the end of the program and i meet around 20-30 tourists around. They also have a temple down in the canyon.

Beautiful Waterfall! Great place to take pictures! Not great to just chill. Ticket cost 25k. Its like a 15 min walk but at the end you have to walk in water and the ground is not to nice to walk on without shoes but it was all worth it in the end for me.

We went on a weekday around 2pm It takes exactly 20 mins to reach the waterfall. There are some 130-140 steep steps. There are 2 waterfalls once you get down . There was a queue to get clicked under the big one but small one was less crowded. We waited for 20 mins to grt our turn and got the pics clicked and then enjoyed the small waterfall. There are restaurants on the way back and restrooms at the start.. You need to use the same for changing.

TIP: Take water shoes or slippers. A part of the path leading to the waterfall is through a stream. You are going to get wet 😉😅💧 You also must be able to walk on a long and very steep flight of stone stairs. If you have any mobility issues, you might not be able to make it all the way down and definitely not back up to the parking lot. Overall it's a nice underground waterfall but it's pretty crowded which takes away from experience and if you have for example seen cenotes in Mexico, it won't impress you much. But it's as impressive as nature can be 😊

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is a hidden gem that’s fairly easy to reach with a short, scenic walk. You’ll need to wade through water, so bring waterproof or rubber shoes with good grip. The light filtering through the cave is stunning, especially around midday. A peaceful spot that feels off the beaten path. Definitely worth a visit and bring a camera / phone with you the photos are amazing. Tukad Cepung is one of the very best waterfalls you can visit in Bali. It's not huge by any means, but the location is awesome, the light coming in the gorge from the open top is awesome (assuming you get a clear sky or partially cloudy sky). The rock formations right before you reach the waterfall make for a wonderful photo of the waterfall (if you are lucky enough to be there "alone", very hard to achieve, even if you arrive at 7am!). The amount of water even if you find yourself there in the "dry season" (at least a couple of days without any rain) is immense, and the noise and constant water dripping will get you and your equipment wet, so be smart and get a waterproof backpack and some wet shoes before visiting this waterfall (and most of the waterfalls in Bali tbh). Be there early, as hard as that may be, as the day progresses the queue gets very long.

Adventurous and Beautiful. I would highly recommend to visit b/w 10am-12pm so that you are able to see sun rays inside the cave right next to the waterfall. And yes, it is kind of a cave.
