The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar is one of the most beautiful and vibrant attractions in Kashmir. Spread over 30 hectares at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, and overlooking the iconic Dal Lake, this garden is the largest tulip garden in Asia. Every year, during the spring season from late March to mid-April, the garden bursts into a mesmerizing display of color as more than 1.5 million tulips bloom across the terraces. With over 60 varieties of tulips in all shades imaginable – red, yellow, pink, white, orange, and purple – the sight is nothing short of magical.
Established in 2007, the garden was created to promote floriculture and tourism in the valley. Since then, it has become a must-visit destination, especially during the annual Tulip Festival, which features cultural performances, Kashmiri handicrafts, local cuisine, and folk music. Apart from tulips, the garden also features other flowers like hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and ranunculi that enhance the beauty of the landscape.
