I had two very different experiences at this farm--as different as night and day, so to speak.
I first came for the Night Bloom show, which was something I had specifically researched and was really looking forward to as a unique festival experience. When I arrived, I stood with about 10 other visitors in the wind and cold, waiting for the lights to appear. They never did, and we assumed the equipment was malfunctioning. There was no announcement or communication from the staff--just us visitors standing in the cold, wondering what was going on. I was very disappointed because, like I said, this had been marketed as a unique Tulip Festival experience.
I later reached out to the staff to ask if I could get a refund, since the light show never happened. I understand and respect no-refund policies for inclement weather or circumstances outside a business's control--but this was a technical issue with their own equipment. I was told there would be no refund, and they also didn't offer any alternatives to make up for the bad experience. The $10 I lost out on wasn't an issue. I would have been happy if the business had simply offered to have me come back another night when the lights were working. As it was, I felt unvalued and discounted.
Despite this first impression, I returned the next day to pick tulips at the farm. That part of the visit was surprisingly enjoyable. The fields were beautiful, there were plenty of flowers to choose from, and the staff were helpful. I enjoyed putting together a bouquet, and it ended up being a nice takeaway from the trip.
I really wish my overall experience had been as positive as that second daytime visit. After attempting to resolve this with the vendor directly, I am writing this review because I experienced a lack of accountability and customer care. I trusted this farm with my limited time at the festival, and I felt like my time, effort, and trust weren't valued.
