I came to this place on a wonderful weekend getaway 2 night package. Quite a deal-- it included 2 breakfasts and one dinner of their excellent cooking. The hot food for breakfast is freshly made to order. The castle is enchanting, the rooms are nice with a chair and tea table, and the staff and service couldn't be better. It's a 20-25 minute walk downhill to the town of Dingwall and there are some beautiful cottage gardens along the way. Behind the castle are farms and forest with a fairly level path/ unpaved road where one can walk quite a long way. The bar is named after the resident ghost, the Green Lady.

We got off on the wrong foot at Tulloch when the cab company recommended by the hotel canceled last minute and we were unable to get another. The hotel offers no transportation so we walked the little over a mile with our luggage. In the rain. In the dark. Up 250 feet. I was hoping for luxury after such an experience. No such luck - the carpet was gross, there was water damage on the ceiling. Our room was a million degrees no matter how much we turned it down. We could open the window three inches. I could clearly hear the conversations of the people in the rooms beside and below us. Shells in my grossly undercooked eggs Florentine. An overall abysmal experience.

It was an average place to stay, I thought it would look different being that it’s an old castle but maybe my expectations are unrealistic. The employees were terrific. The older lady was chatting with us and asking about our plans, gave us recommendations, even pulled out a map to tell us where to go/avoid. She was very knowledgeable. We also had a mishap the first night and called the front desk late at night and he was very kind. Food was pretty good, breakfast is very small unless you order from the menu. A very big plus for us was that there was a fan in the closet- we LOVE it cold at night and Scotland can get humid and warm. It might be common sense, but be forewarned that your room may be up 6 flights of stairs since it’s an old castle without modern elevators.

Our stay was lovely. We liked the novel idea of staying in someplace that is technically a castle. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was spacious and very clean. They didn't offer the info to us when we arrived, but we ended up walking ourselves around the hotel and found the reception desk person giving another couple a tour of the hotel and telling them the history -- I'd have been disappointed to have missed this, but I'm glad we got the info regardless that it wasn't offered to us. Had dinner and drinks in the Green Lady Lounge which was nice and had good food.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The biggest issue was with the staff. Almost all of them seemed very young, inexperienced, and lacking the professionalism you would expect in the hospitality industry.||||From check-in to check-out, I found them rude, dismissive, and uninterested in helping guests. Rather than being welcoming or attentive, they often seemed more focused on chatting with each other than assisting customers. When I asked for help, their responses came across as unprofessional and at times even disrespectful.||||While the facilities of the hotel were acceptable, the staff’s immaturity and lack of training left a lasting negative impression. A hotel’s team should make guests feel comfortable and valued, but sadly this was not the case here. I would not recommend staying until significant improvements are made to the staff’s training, attitude, and overall professionalism.

We stayed here 3 nights. Laura MacKay was the absolute best! She took care of any request. Our room was just inside the front door. Despite the location, it wasn’t too loud. The room was spacious and fully equipped with a tea pot and drink choices. The bed was luxurious. The restaurant service was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We spent two nights at Tulloch Castle in August.|Maybe we had too high expectations, but as a castle, we expected something kind of luxurious.|We did not find that at Tulloch Castle. |Our room was very simple, the quality of the matresses was not too good and we had some stains on the linnen.|Positive was that our luggage was carried by staff to our room in the third floor (as there is no elevator in the castle).|Dinner was good and breakfast as well.

It was a wonderful and authentic castle experience!! The room was amazing!! We felt truly regal! The restaurants were very good too. I only wish it had a small fridge, but that wouldn't stop me from staying there again! The staff was friendly and accommodating!

Yelp
Really satisfying dinner for the last night of my trip. The room we ate in was over 250 years old and it felt like I was transported through time. The beautiful plaster ceilings, wooden banisters, and overall preserved elegance were noted and the service to present all the meals showed the staff truly cared about making everything special. I could see this being a lovely destination wedding venue or something special since Dingwall is so close to Inverness. The story of the family that lived here was interesting and apparently if your lucky you can see a ghost!

Yelp
It was fun staying in a part of history, but the accommodations could have been better. The bathroom was the nicest, but the shower pressure was very weak. Breakfast was wonderful and those who served in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. A little more attention to detail would make this place great! We stayed in the honeymoon suite with a balcony. The walls were pretty thin too as I listened to people talking in the next room and in the hallway. The bar was awesome! We had some wine and played scrabble. They had a few games to choose from.

Yelp
A dream come true! We stayed in beautiful Tulloch Castle and had dinner and breakfast. The highlight of our stay was the personable receptionist Paul and our chats. He checked to make sure we had everything we needed. He went above and beyond. We chatted and with him while sitting by the warm Scottish fire. Be sure to find Paul and get to know him if you stay. Highly recommend booking this castle. Can't believe we stayed in a castle!!!!

Yelp
From the family of four, in the room above us, that walked heavily on the old wooden floors late at night and early in the a.m. To the poor service in the restaurant, the twin beds and cold showers.... This was an experience I could have done without.

Yelp
The kids wanted to stay in a haunted castle on our trip to Scotland. Enter Tulloch Castle! The location was perfect for Inverness and Loch Ness explorations. Full service hotel with a restaurant and bar as well as the reason you book this hotel - the ghost tour. They host the tour each night I believe, based on occupancy, and it is quite a story of the history of the castle and all the shenanigans going on hundreds of years ago. The rooms are fine, bathrooms are updated but it's an old castle which is a-ok with me, so set your expectations. This is great little Castle/Hotel, perfect for a short stay.

Yelp
Awesome castle stay, the rooms were nice, bathrooms were updated, which is awesome. The history of this place was amazing and there are so many places to walk around and explorer. It's close to town too. The breakfast was great, the dinner was ehh... my husband liked his fish and I am vegetarian so it was alright, not great. The bar is lovely! Just FYI only stairs so our room was hard to get too but it was all worth it! Love it here

Yelp
Prior to arriving here, I was unaware of the castles history BUT after taking the ghost tour free of charge provided by the bartender on certain nights I was hooked! What a cool place to stay full of history and ghost tales! The hotel itelf is pretty neat if you appreciate things as they were. The hotel ambiance is perfect for its history. The resteraunt and bar provided tasty food and drinks. We were lucky enough on our stay to get to experience one of the local fiddle groups harmonizing together in the great room which we were happily invited in to listen. The hotel rooms I believe are all a little different as this was a residence castle. Our room was great no complaints. I would reccommend this place to couples and families with older children. Fun place to stay!

Yelp
Having read the 1 star review I had to write a further review to make corrections. The building is 600 years old and every effort has been made to be modern, without encroaching on the historic value of the building. If you want modern luxury, there's a Jury's Inn and a Hilton in Inverness. This is a 'Scottish Castle' and as such there's creaking on the floor and ancient splendour all around. However, the decor looks tired and many areas where careless guests have banged and scraped their cases on the walls and doors definitely are in need of a tin of paint. I would have given the castle 3 Stars due to the above and because our breakfast was not the best. Nevertheless, the staff were fayand the ghost/history tour was brilliant and therefore I can't give less than 5 Stars. Prince William & Prince Harry often visit for a incognito break and if it's good enough for a Prince. Its good enough for me. We will definitely be back in the Spring of 2017.

Yelp
The food was great, and we loved the bar. Emma was the best bar host, informative and friendly.

Yelp
Wow. It was like staying the night in a Disney movie. The staff was so nice and accommodating. I will warn you, there are some ghost stories surrounding the location. We took a wonderful ghost tour with John the goundskeeper who knew how to crack a joke. It was so nice. I could see a beautiful wedding taking place on those grounds. The views of the city were just astounding. And the quiet/quaint feeling of having a drink in the bar ... of an old castle ... in the UK ... on a hill ... was just astounding. FAIR WARNING: there is no elevator. Stairs only.

Yelp
Two couples, a Scottish castle, luxury rooms, poster beds, a piece of history ... How romantic! But NOT at the Tulloch Castle Hotel. On our 10-day visit to the Scottish Highlands, I perhaps most looked forward to lodging at a castle. Tulloch Castle's web site looked so inviting and the hotel seemed to be a value at slightly more than £200 per room per night. I couldn't have been more wrong. Driving up to the castle, we four first noticed that the outside was in need of repair. But upon entering through the large doors into the castle's foyer, it was clear that the outside was a step above the interior. The main floor was dark, dingy, and cluttered. A tacky glass case of curios for sale ("Cash Only") stood next to the receptionist's desk. We had confirmed reservations for two poster-bed rooms for two nights. Oops, they only had reservations only for one room and ... oops ... they didn't have an available room for that reservation. They were, we were told, full for the next two nights. Admitting their error, the receptionist and the manager-on-duty scrambled to accommodate us. They offered, an we reluctantly accepted, the available two-bedroom, one sitting room flat in the rear of the castle (accessible through the dining room). One bedroom was full-sized, the other was small and substituted a sheet of plywood for a box spring under the mattress. The showers were unacceptably small and narrow, with no place in the master shower to place soap or shampoo. The rugs and sofa in the sitting room were stained, the walls were in disrepair, and attempts to paint over previous repairs had been finished with a paint color that failed to match the remainder of the wall. There was no door on either the master bedroom or master bathroom, so privacy was impossible. The general manager would arrive later that evening. Although knowing the Tulloch Castle's faux pas, she failed to seek us out. We did, however, seek her out. She offered more excuses than seemed possible, but no apologies for the state of the hotel. She seemed blind to its shortcomings ("You're being pretty nitpicky.") Dinner at the castle was ok. Yet I would be remiss if I didn't mention the dining room's dinginess or the occasional pieces dirty flatware. We agreed to a reduced rate, and left after only one night. We will not be back.
