16 Best Hotels in Tulum, From Luxury Resorts to Beach Bungalows

"Top creatives in their field gathered to create this secluded, five-room oasis on the jungle side of Tulum’s beach road. Something like a hotel-concept store hybrid, the Tulum Treehouse is a celebration of modern Mexican design. A sleek, minimalist respite, the concrete property is built with artists of all types in mind: Centered around a pool and open-air kitchen (run by Noma alum Edoardo Fiaschi), the guesthouse includes a working studio with an outdoor ceramics kiln for artists in residence and a shop by Xinú, the top Mexican perfumery. During a stay, guests are privy to the property’s diverse programming like weekly talks, live music performances, and craft workshops." - Michaela Trimble

Tulum Treehouse

"Why book? A sleek, minimalist respite, the concrete property was built with artists of all types in mind, with its on-site ceramics kiln and weekly live talks, music performances, and more. Set the scene: Top creatives in their field gathered to create this secluded, five-room oasis on the jungle side of Tulum’s beach road. Something like a hotel-concept store hybrid, the Tulum Treehouse is a celebration of modern Mexican design. Centered around a pool and open-air kitchen (run by Noma alum, Edoardo Fiaschi), the guesthouse includes a working studio with an outdoor ceramics kiln and a shop by Xinú, the top Mexican perfumery. The backstory: Tulum Treehouse is the collective effort of a diverse group of local artisans, builders, craftspeople, and international designers. The property’s makers come from very different backgrounds but are united in their commitment to using local, organic, and sustainable materials whenever possible toward the creation of a welcoming and collaborative space. The rooms: The property has five rooms, each evoking the effect of staying in a private home, some with outdoor showers and private terraces overlooking the mangrove jungle. The aesthetic is contemporary Mexican, with polished white concrete walls and warm tzalam wood accents. Some rooms have outdoor showers and private terraces overlooking the mangrove jungle. Food and drink: The Kitchen, the property’s restaurant, is helmed by Noma alum, Edoardo Fiaschi, who crafts a menu of locally-sourced, Yucatecan-inspired dishes, most cooked over an open fire. Corn also takes center stage and is ground at the property’s own stone mill using pre-Hispanic techniques, including ancient forms of fermentation. The restaurant often hosts culinary workshops and dinner parties at a 20-person rooftop dining table overlooking the jungle. The neighborhood/area: The property is located on Tulum’s beach road but tucked within the jungle side, away from the noise and crowds. The service: The service is low-key and rooted in an artist-based experience of the property. Eco effort The property has solar panels and uses a waste management water treatment system. They also have eco-friendly amenities and organic food. Anything left to mention? The creative hub of the Treehouse is a minimalist studio with an outdoor ceramic kiln, where guests and artists in residence can practice and experiment." - Michaela Trimble

Excellent tasty hidden gem of a food experience. The rib eye and dessert was unique and had a culinary flare and taste to it. Their drinks are also one of a kind and very good. A must try and great value for experience. The place turns into a hip dance lounge once the live DJ gets going.

Review for Dinner, Drinks, and Rooftop ONLY. We did not stay here. Overpriced for the value and quality they provide. We spent over $130 USD on drinks (2x), water (x1), and small plates (3x). They have weird service and tax charges that are inconsistent from bar to table. Rooftop is cool, but not worth a >$20 per drink. Worth it maybe, if you’re taking a date or celebrating a special occasion.

Tried the restaurant. Excellent location. Music is very similar to other restaurants in the area and does match the ambiance of the restaurant. Food tastes good. But portions are small, and over priced even for the main course. Service was excellent though. It was a good experience but it left me hungry to eat dominoes 1 hour later. Worth it if you are willing to pay $100 per person for great pictures and decent but overpriced and small portioned meals.

Beautiful place. The food is delicious and drinks are amazing. I’ve visited this place several times and on Friday’s and Sunday’s they have live music and is very fun and a cool vibe. The service is also excellent, Alan at the bar makes awesome drinks. Nikita and Edgar are always super nice as well.

We went to the restaurant for drinks and dinner and absolutely loved it. The drinks were great. The food was even better. The guacamole was to die for. The service was great too. Definitely expensive but relatively comparable to other restaurants in Tulum.

Google
A truly gorgeous and magical location / ambiance. We’re told the only available table was the one next to the gate so we opted for stools at the bar (even though we had a reservation and there were several other empty tables, set for 4 rather than 2.) Disappointed to see none of those tables ended up getting sat and felt that took away from the experience. The food was really good, some dishes maybe overpowering, ie: octopus. Service was friendly but very slow. Would give it a second try

This place has given me and my family the best memory of our trip. Everyone working there was being super thoughtful and caring. My mom had stomach issue the day before, and after they find out about it, the second morning they cooked oatmeal for us as breakfast, which was so needed for my mom. The house manager was super! He was really making sure me and my family are being took care and having good time. We also booked a rooftop dinner before the day we leave, and everything just felt perfect. The space is clean and aesthetically beautiful, from the morning light till the sunset, every corner of this space has it’s own charm. Would defiantly come back again!
