We had an absolutely fantastic stay and can’t recommend this place highly enough! It’s so family-friendly, with a lovely small playground that kept the kids happily busy. The restaurant on-site is just awesome—especially on a rainy day when you can check out the Gateway Experience. Everything was so well done! We even got to see the penguins, which was a delightful highlight. We completely disagree with some of the negative comments here; our experience was nothing short of amazing!

No vegan items on the menu but they can adapt some of the thai items to be vegan! There are vegan drink options, and we enjoyed the chai latte. They had a free map of the Catlins which was helpful and the staff kindly shared some recommendations about the area!

Had a lovely meal here. Tom Yum prawn and seafood chowder cooked by the lovely Thai chef. Saw porpoises surfing the waves and enjoyed walking to the coastal features close-by.

We had a warm welcome from Dom and his family. Atmosphere great and a lovely location. We had a couple of thai meals for lunch and did find they required more spices but we do like our thai hot and spicy. Nice place. Great service. Keep up the good work.

Tasty but pricey. Took us $90 to feed the family. Food was good though. Now we are off to explore the absolutely gorgeous coastline.

Absolutely loved the Fish and Chips—crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. The coffee was just as impressive, smooth and perfectly brewed. Great spot for a tasty meal and a good cuppa!

Went with little to no expectations about the food and service however, pleasantly surprised with how good the service was! The staff was very pleasant, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for her. She went out of her way to make meals gluten free and checked for any dietary restrictions. The food was good but the service made the dining experience a lot more enjoyable!

Bit of a long wait, but the food was delicious and it’s the only restaurant for a while.

Yelp
We were told to book our meal before 7.30 so we booked our table for 7pm, arrived early and booked our meal by 7pm. The meal did not arrive until 8.20 pm and then only 3 of the 4 meals arrived. All around us were other families NOT being fed. There were no apologies from the staff for the waits. When I went up to ask where the fourth meal was and complained that after such a wait it wasn't really on that we couldn't eat together, the manager pulled a face and turned her back on me! She seemed angry with me. I really think she should get out of the industry altogether. The problem here is that you are a captured audience with no other options local to the campsite. If you are camping I would self cater or drive/walk out and away. The food was ok in the end but the service was terrible. No apology or discount at the end. Desperate hungry looking families all around us.

Yelp
WORST DINING EXPERIENCE. We waited 40 minutes for our food which were from the cabinet. When we finally said something turns out that they had lost our order, and had to show evidence of the bank transaction. Was offered no apologies, just a hard glare from the woman in change. When I told her it was unacceptable way to run a restaurant, she told me basically it was a mistake, and no ones fault, and she told us we should of said something sooner. When we finally got the food, the cheese rolls were cold in the middle and inedible.

Yelp
We had great meals here and enjoyed the food very much. The menu was somewhat limited, but we both found something we liked. I ordered the pork belly and it was perfectly cooked and the portions were enormous. However, it was pork belly...if you don't know what that is then you shouldn't risk ordering it without finding out first because it is very fatty. My wife got the vegetable pizza and it was delicious and well cooked. Also an enormous portion for one. It was enough for two people, especially if you shared a salad or dessert. We also got a dessert and it was very good and plenty large for two people to share. The one thing to be aware of is that the food is a bit slow. In June they didn't have a lot of people there and it was clear that the food was made to order and was quite fresh. I would take freshly prepared food with a wait over quick food any day. That being said, plan an hour for dinner and more if you want dessert.
