Spontaneous Visit Turned Into a Great Experience! Stopped by Tupelo Honey on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. The food was actually really tasty. way better than I expected for a spontaneous pick! What truly made the morning, though, was our amazing server, Aliya. She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back, and hope to have Aliya again! What started out as a random stop turned into one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. Huge shoutout to Aliya for her professionalism and positivity. I’ll definitely be returning and bringing friends!

We had a great experience at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen in Charlotte, NC. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a nice mix of modern charm and Southern comfort. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits along with the Farmhouse Breakfast Platter, both of which are pictured here. The Shrimp and Grits were rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The grits were creamy and the shrimp had just the right amount of seasoning. The Farmhouse Platter was a hearty and satisfying choice, with fresh ingredients and generous portions that hit all the classic breakfast notes. We arrived right at opening on a Sunday morning, so it was nice to beat the rush. However, our table wasn’t properly cleaned when we were seated, which was a little off putting. Also, be aware that you can’t order mimosas before 10 AM on Sundays due to local alcohol laws. (Something we didn’t know ahead of time.) Service was friendly and attentive overall, and our food came out in a timely manner. The only reason we're giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because of those small hiccups and the fact that while everything was solid and delicious, it didn’t quite hit that unforgettable “wow” factor but, it came close! Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and craving elevated Southern fare done right.

Google
Food was excellent and filling! The sweet potato pancake was very good though it started feeling too sweet towards the end. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone who enjoys a sweet breakfast though. We also got the mac n cheese and chicken waffle, but without the spice. Their chicken is absolutely amazing and the next time I visit I'll definitely be getting something with chicken. An entree only + tip will put you just around $20, anything more and you'll go over.

Google
This place is so cute! Great brunch spot with a bright atmosphere! The southern hospitality mimosa was great, and I got the larger version for what I felt was a good value. Potatoes were great and eggs were fluffy on the farmhouse breakfast, sausage with good but just normal. The smothered chicken biscuit had fluffy biscuits and chicken was fantastic! Gravy could have been a little thinner for dipping but great. Recommend.

Google
The atmosphere 👌 is a wonderful place to take dates, family, and friends. We ordered a harvest bowl and morning bowl. Delicious! Service staff was excellent and super friendly. We love finding new breakfast places. You'll love it too. We also loved the banana 🍌 pudding! Outdoor seating available.

I enjoyed my lunch at Tupelo Honey. It had a really cute vibe and great service. The food was quite delicious. I really liked the BLT and the fried okra. I was tempted to come back for dinner but timing didn’t work. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal in a beautiful space.

Google
Tupelo is one of my favorite brunch spots. The southern style dishes they serve here are absolutely delicious and priced PERFECTLY for how much food you get. I got the bone in sweet and spicy fried chicken and collard greens and it was a 10/10. Perfectly crispy sweet and spicy and juicy! The egg dishes also were super delicious and they hands down have the best breakfast potatoes in the brunch game. If you love cheese, you will love their pimento cheese dip with chips. Absolutely 10/10, food and service are top notch.

My friends and I decided to have our ladies brunch at this location. It was a very nice spot with a relaxed vibe! We ordered the mimosa flight, and it was very delicious. The food was great and very flavorful. The portion size was perfect. Our waitress was great, she gave us some helpful food recommendations! Most importantly it didn’t take long at all for us to receive our order.

Yelp
We came here for brunch, once we arrived we were seated right away. Drinks to start we had the Blueberry lanvenser mimosas , nice taste & decent amount of alcohol. Appetizers we tried the Pimento cheese dip w tortillas nice warm, crunchy chips great with the cheese dip. Main dishes we tried the Banana creme brûlée , OMG is all I gotta say, wow this was delicious melts in your mouth the combo of the waffle with the creme brûlée is so tasty not crazy sweet, good chicken no need for the syrup. Also, had the Chicken & biscuits yummm chicken is very tasty , good biscuits & gravy we left in quite the food coma. Good music playing, Service was good & prices are not bad, reasonable that banana creme brûlée will live in mind rent free, definitely worth the try.

Yelp
We've been to the Tupelo Honey location in Myrtle Beach and everything was great. This time in Charlotte it was a bit disappointing. We were greeted promptly and pleasantly, and our server, Carmin, came over right away and took our drink order. We ordered two coffees and she only brought one. Not a problem really, but it took a while to get the second cup. I ordered an omelette with bacon, peppers and Swiss and my husband had the farmers breakfast. His was very good, but my eggs were quite rubbery, and the bacon was too burnt to eat. They were quite crumbled so I had to pick them out of the omelette. It came with grits which was very good and highly recommended. Most importantly, our server never came over to ask how everything was, and it wasn't that busy, which is why I'm giving three stars. Overall the food is pretty good and a fairly good value (except the coffee is too expensive) so I would say give it a try. I will go again, but this time I'll steer clear of the bacon.

Yelp
Had multiple recommendations for this restaurant and was hoping for slightly more going in... The mimosa options were highly appreciated, with unique flavors and colors to choose from. Portion sizes were large and it had great natural sunlight throughout the restaurant. Be prepared for a wait if you don't have a reservation. The main thing that did not meet expectations was the sweet & spicy chicken 'n' waffle, which had a strong buffalo flavor which was not advertised on the menu as the "spicy" part. Also, 4 co-ed bathrooms for the whole restaurant with no way to see if they're occupied, meaning awkward pushes on each door to check if it's locked.

Yelp
Not impressed. We waited to get a seat outside which was nice but the service was awful. Apparently our server had tables inside and we were the one table outside so needless to say, we waited and were rarely checked on. The Food: Decided to try the Asheville Hot Chicken and Ranch Melt. Overall a pretty good sandwich but the chicken was a bit bland and lacking any spice. Went with the Collard Greens as a side and they were super salty. Won't be coming back as the service and the food issues just don't make it worth it.

Yelp
A few weeks back, one of my girlfriends from church and I met at Tupelo Honey for an early Friday dinner. I ordered the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich and paired it with a Caesar salad for good measure. The fried chicken was drizzled with sriracha honey. The sandwich also had lettuce, pickles, tomato, and mayo on a potato bun. Meanwhile, my friend, who on a meat hiatus, bravely ventured into the vegetarian options. She ordered the harvest bowl--quinoa, carrots, spinach, cherry tomatoes, radish, fennel, roasted red pepper coulis, and feta. Surprisingly, the veggie dish won the approval of a meat-eater who was temporarily on a carnivore break. The ambiance was fairly quiet, and the server was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Pro tip: Google the parking options before you go. Nothing kills the dinner vibe like spinning the block in search of a spot while your stomach growls louder than your GPS.

Yelp
Must try: Asheville Hot with Mac-N-Cheese Waffles, Fried Okra, Mud Pie, and Mimosas! Why: Traveling for work so had to get my Southern food fix. Started with Fried Okra, which I've been craving for a year! Loved the Mac-N-Cheese Waffles with Fried Chicken. Large portion and easily shareable since it's two waffles. Sipped on a refreshing Apple Cider Mimosa. My friend and I finished our meal sharing Pudding and a Mud Pie. That Mud Pie was special with crunchy crust and rich chocolate. Very much enjoyed entire meal! Notes: We came on a Sunday at 6:30pm for dinner. We were seated immediately. Large dining area with lots of seats for small and large parties. We had a cute circular booth in corner, which felt semi-private for us to have good catch up time. Workers were all super friendly, helpful, and attentive from host to server. They also had a sign closing a wee bit early to take care of their employees, which I thought was admirable. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I thought I reviewed this location before but if not, I will say that my experience last time matches my experience this time....five stars! When visiting Charlotte, this is out go-to place for breakfast to build a base before visiting a beer festival and this place gets high marks for food (always delicious, if not particularly healthy), service and atmosphere. Last time I had some fried chicken tenders and biscuits and loved everything, esp the blueberry jelly that came with the biscuits. I didn't have a drink this time but last time I did and it was great. Service is so friendly...everyone is great. If I have one nit to pick, it's that they don't provide dishes designed to be shared with serving spoons. I love my friends but I don't want everyone's fork in my pimento cheese dip, so please provide one. I will note that when I asked for a serving utensil, one was provided fairly promptly but for a shared dish, serving spoons are a blessing. That's a tiny thing and doesn't detract from my five star rating. Keep it up, Tupelo Honey!

Yelp
My friends & I came here on a Saturday morning and it was popping! There was an hour wait for a regular table, but they offered us bar seats. We sit at the bar since there were seats. We didn't really know who was supposed to be our server but eventually a woman took our order. I ordered the Smashburger with an egg and it was very delicious. The onion jam was a nice touch! My friend got the Chicken Torilla Soup and it was not worth the price, it was less than 10 bites in the bowl -- it was weirdly shallow. The biscuits are a great price and a great starter. The Sweet and Spicy chicken and waffles were also delicious but the sauce made the waffle soggy so if you don't like that then get the sauce on the side. My only real issue was that I didn't know who to ask things from like condiments or silverware, so I was a little confused. Otherwise, it was a great experience! Very cozy and cute inside!

Yelp
Clearly a popular place for brunch. We really enjoyed the atmosphere! For entree I went with the chicken and biscuits, which my friend and I both agreed tasted better separately. We were just not huge fans of the gravy. We also were expecting to taste more honey in the chicken but didn't get a ton of that flavor. Overall still a good experience. Would like to try more of the menu!

Yelp
Food was amazing and fresh!! Our Server Adam was the best! I had the biscuit and gravy w/chicken and Bacon it was so good!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a very busy brunch location which happened to be remarkably understaffed on the Sunday morning we went. However, our waiter and the kitchen staff went into overdrive. Our meals were fantastic and we will definitely return.

Yelp
Never disappointed, love this place! Food is very good! Service is great and beautiful atmosphere

Yelp
Great restaurant and such a fun location in Uptown! Food was great and highly recommend doing reservations if you are going for dinner. I was able to make them a few hours in advance

Yelp
Cereal Milk martini followed by the chicken fingers! Awesome food and super tasty drinks! Casual vibe. Staff were super friendly.

Yelp
Food and service was amazing! I'd recommend making a reservation if it's a weekend. Definitely worth a try Update we came back the next day so my husband can try it and the service was even better! Carmen was wonderful, and the food was still phenomenal. Definitely worth a try on your next visit.

Yelp
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen never disappoints! This visit, we started with the Cast Iron Pimento Cheese Dip, and wow--absolutely incredible! The warm, melty pimento cheese paired with the crispy, seasoned honey chips was the perfect combination of creamy and crunchy with a touch of sweetness. For my main, I had the Spinach, Feta & Grape Tomato Omelette, and it was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. On a previous visit, I had the Chicken Benedict, and I still dream about how juicy and well-seasoned the chicken was, paired with perfectly cooked eggs. The atmosphere here is always welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. This has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Charlotte, and I can't wait to come back again (and again). Might have to make this a tradition! Highly recommend!

Calvin G.

Yelp
All of the food was amazing (except for the Mac and cheese.) The servers were attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. My only critique would be to not sit people so close together when it isn't busy. Sitting so close to strangers in a quiet restaurant makes it difficult to have private conversations.

Yelp
My friend and I had the pleasure of eating here about two weeks ago and we had an amazing waitress named Alyse, she was so attentive with us and her customer service was impressive. To drink, we shared the mimosa flight, which was perfect for us. My favorite drink from the four was the apple cider donut, sooo delishhh. To eat, I had ordered the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich, but I believe I received the wrong sandwich because it didn't have lettuce, pickles, and tomato as described in the menu - I think I received the sweet tea chicken sandwich and it was still delicious 5/5 so I did not mind. I had macaroni and cheese as my side and I would give it a 3.5/5. My friend ordered the whiskey onion smash burger and she said she enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the restaurants, vibe and aesthetic, and I liked that there was a bar in the middle of the restaurant for those who just wanted to have a drink or for people who are waiting for their table to be ready. I'd definitely come back here.

Yelp
Went for dinner after work Atmosphere was wonderful, very Beautiful inside with the plants all around. My server ( Zach) was very helpful far as me asking about the menu The food was wonderful I would recommend this place

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this spot out and finally had a chance to. We celebrated my friend's 40th by coming for brunch. The greeter was very sweet and it took no time to be seated. We sat out and the waitress was great, answering all of our questions and suggesting different drinks and other foods. I ordered the Banana Crème Brûlée Chicken and Waffles with a Veggie Omelette and OMG! It was beyond great! The banana pudding on top of the waffles and the chicken on top made it perfect! I also tried the mimosa flight and it was delicious as well! Per usual, it exceeded my expectation and I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Came into town for an event and a friend found this place. We shared the crispy brussels which were very crispy and seasoned well. The brussel sprouts paired very well with the red pepper/almond romesco. As for entrees I split the mac n cheese waffles with asheville hot chicken and one of the waffles was enough for each of us. The portions were larger than we thought they would be and had also ordered the breakfast platter which we didn't get to. The chicken was crispy and moist on the inside, the waffles were fluffy but crisp, and the mac n cheese was perfectly seasoned and cheesy. I did try the potatoes from the farmhouse platter and they were seasoned perfectly, but were not crispy. Service was quick and attentive. I also loved the openness of the space.

Yelp
Amazing food hands down. I went with my parents so I tried 3 dishes. Large portions and my mom ate all her food lol she is the most judgmental chef we had the mahi mahi which was very spicy (they should've mentioned this) the fried chicken, fried okra, Mac and cheese and salmon and everything was so flavorful. They also carry this amazing hibiscus tea! We went to the one in Charlotte, the outdoor seating was nice. Our server wasn't around too often but still a nice place and experience
google avatar

Brittney S.

Yelp
My friend and I tried the classic chicken and waffles along with the salt and pepper crispy Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were honestly the best I've ever had--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. As for the chicken and waffles, it was a decent combo that paired well together, but I wouldn't say it was anything extraordinary. The service, however, was top-notch. Our server, Camrin, went above and beyond. My friend wanted to try the Pinky Swear strawberry margarita, but they had run out of one of the ingredients. Camrin was super kind and did their best to improvise with what they had to make my friend happy. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and they totally didn't have to do that, but it really made a difference. We also went for a late lunch, and they were kind enough to take us in without a reservation, which was much appreciated. Overall, great experience with excellent service!

Yelp
Had a few hours to kill before hopping on the plane heading back to Cali Cali, so we stopped and got something to nosh on. After stalking Instagram food influencers for places to eat for the past couple of months we opted for Tupelo on a fluke. As soon as we opened the door, we were created with a smile, and even though we didn't have reservations, we were seated immediately. She: the chicken and waffles. He: the mountain morning bowl with chopped apple cider bacon, and the stone ground goat cheese grits. I: the farmhouse, breakfast platter with chorizo pork sausage, with the rosemary and parmesan crispy potatoes and a slice of Texas toast. We: Waters Us: Java Our server, Matt was hospitable and informative, and gave us a history on those their grits , and as we say in the Bay Area were #Hella good. Ambience was cool, everybody was enjoying themselves, the music was jamming on the one, and the light fixtures were trending! If ever back in Charlotte, I definitely might come back because there's a couple things on the menu that are peaking my interest. Overall I am giving this place four yumms up!
google avatar

Yelp
I visited for brunch . This location offers classic breakfast options in the heart of the Queen City all at pretty affordable prices! If you're looking for a delicious breakfast in uptown with a cute vibe, look no further. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance on the weekends, as it tends to get pretty busy during brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a good experience here with a big party. I really liked that they had a GF gluten free menu? I got the bowl and it was great. Honestly everyone had a pretty good time and meal. The only drawback was the Panthers game happening which made parking a beast. The staff was nice but they were a little understaffed.

Austin G.

Yelp
Was in town for the PGA and found this incredible brunch spot in uptown. Chicken and waffles were great! Loved the spot! Manager was extremely kind and the service was great. Would love to come back next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Davlon S.

Yelp
Lovely spot in downtown CLT not far from Banknof America Stadium. I was looking for somewhere to eat after the Cowboys/Panthers game, and while most downtown eateries had long waits, this one was able to get us in with seats at the bar. The staff were very friendly and knew the menu inside and out. The wait for the food after ordering was reasonable and the food was delicious!. The smothered chicken thighs are a definite must try item.
google avatar

Zel B.

Yelp
this place was definitely cute & lots of seating! the service was lovely & loved the vibe of all the staff. i tried the shrimp po boy with fried shrimp. shrimp was delicious, however, it did need a bit more sauce to make it more tasty. shrimp & grits were tasty too, however, need to salt & pepper to taste. it's right in uptown with valet outside, but overall a cute place to try in Charlotte!
google avatar

Ann P.

Yelp
Excellent fried chicken with honey dust. The fried Brussels sprouts were nice and crispy. My server Aleah was charming and super helpful.
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
The food never lets me down. Amazing service. Atmosphere is superb. Drinks are perfection. I'll come here every time I'm in Charlotte.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Eh. I left half my chicken because the skin was an outer shell as hard a rock. The inside chicken was ok, some of it too dry to eat. The Brussel sprouts were good as were the fries. One and done for me. The bee honey dusting or whatever it was they promote was MIA or part of the rock hard inedible exterior rock like shell.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
Food was good, the avocado toast had a delicious honey sauce on top. Bloody Mary was good, a little spicy if that's what you like. Overall good atmosphere. Would eat breakfast here again.
google avatar

Simone M.

Yelp
THE FOOD! THE FOOD! THE FOOD! Okay listen, the place itself was beautifully decorated, bright and spacious. The customer service was great, and our waitress wasn't intimidated by a party of 11 with wild toddlers! But on to the food! The waffles were INCREDIBLE!! The chicken was well seasoned and the lavender lemonade...BOMB!!!!!! I will be back!!!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Artisanal food heaven. Everything is absolutely delicious! Craft cocktails complement the gorgeous atmosphere. I visited a Tupelo Honey once in Asheville so I knew this would be just as good. Let me tell you, this spot is really a five star experience.
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
Go for brunch!!! The chicken and gravy biscuits are incredible. The prices are really fair too. They have a great outdoor patio if you like sitting outside. The service is always good and I highly recommend the bloody Mary's.

Ruth P.

Yelp
We moved to Uptown a while ago and have been wanting to try Tupelo. Went there for lunch. The place is conveniently located and has an outside patio. The service was slow and average at best. It wasn't crowded so I imagine this was a server to table ratio problem. Now the food. Underwhelming is the best word I can use to describe it. The fried chicken blt came out with overcooked chicken, bacon so old it chewed like beef jerky and a bottom bun that was so soggy it couldn't even be picked up. It was accompanied by a "side" of exactly 4 onion rings. I have never seen an order of onion rings that skimpy. The grilled chicken Ceasars salad was good, but honestly, nothing spectacular. It was such a disappointment after hearing such good things about it. Maybe it was an off day?
google avatar

Kiana F.

Yelp
A quick weekend trip to Charlotte and I've heard good things about Tupelo Honey, which is also located in various cities. I really loved my steak and eggs that came with the delicious green tomato aïoli. I also really enjoyed the parmesan crispy potatoes. I ordered the mega southern hospitality mimosa that is with peach and pineapple juice. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good, I really liked the breading which was panko crusted. The tomatoes were a bit on the crunchy/ hard side. Overall, everyone enjoyed their brunch. The service was attentive, and it seems like a very popular place. The spaces chic, bright and welcoming. Parking is horrible and expensive in this area. We ended up driving around for about 20 minutes trying to find somewhere to park.
google avatar

Chelsea D.

Yelp
I always enjoy the food when I come here. Especially brunch! It's very good! I also love the ambiance in this place as it very pretty, yellow and vibrant! It's great for a Sunday brunch! Our server was very sweet and kind and gave great recommendations as well! The shrimp and grits are a must try! If your parents are in town, this is a great place to take them!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Wow! Do NOT miss this gem in Charlotte. I was in town for a conference and had been to a couple other southern food restaurants that I don't think we're up to par. On the last day, my friend and I tried out Tupelo. We're so glad we did. Everything from the bright, friendly decor to the excellent, attentive service met and exceeded our expectations. We had the spicy chicken and waffles and the smoked salmon cakes. The sweet Sriracha sauce blended perfectly with the crispy chicken thigh. Mmm- heavenly The sliced smoked salmon sat perfectly on top of crispy but chewy fried grit cake. The capers and sauce brought the salt w the salmon and yet so balanced with the cake. It almost felt like delicious health food. Nice and light which helped with all the chicken and waffles and did I mention dessert?! We also got the banana pudding which was tasty but missing Chuck's of bananas. I'd go here again and again! Please open a location in Chicago!! And, don't be silly, get the biscuits!!! (Biscuit proceeds go to Tupelo Honey Relief & Development Funds that aid Tupelo employees in need)
google avatar

Mollie S.

Yelp
Kind of mid quality and flavor for the price point. Very nice ambience and service though!

Tim V.

Yelp
I'm here from California on a business trip and found this place on yelp. Food was served fast, hot and fresh. Chicken was tender and crispy. Collard greens were flavorful! Friendly staff. I'll be back!!
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
This place is a mixed bag. Ordered their specialty which is fried chicken with 2 sides. The chicken was so overcooked and dry it was inedible. Bartender did not seemed surprised when I told her. She simply said the white meat chicken is like that sometimes but was nice enough to only charge me for the 2 sides. When your so-called signature item is that bad, I don't even know what to say. The side items on the other hand were amazing. The mac and cheese was spot-on and the red beans and rice were delicious. I used to live in New Orleans and getting good red beans away from there has always been a challenge but these were fantastic. The espresso martini was just "meh" and I would not order it again. I think I would return and try something else on the menu but I would avoid the fried chicken at all costs.
google avatar

Destiny W.

Yelp
My first time at this location and it was a beautiful experience! The food was very tasty and the help we received from our waiter was top tier. Definitely will be coming back!
google avatar

Michaela L.

Yelp
Made a reservation and although it was packed for brunch, we had no wait times. The service was wonderful and the food came out quickly and perfectly. Very affordable! The vibes were right!

Yelp
I stopped in on the Friday before NYE and the place was lively but not full. I opted to sit at the bar as I was alone. I inquired about fresh coffee and the bartender said he could not confirm fresh coffee but they have tea. So I opted for the tea and thought, why wouldn't he make fresh coffee? After all, the menu is brunch focused on this day. The tea selection was great and I opted for a blueberry variety. I also ordered 2 biscuits as an appetizer and they arrived cold. So I asked for them to be heated. I was assured new biscuits would be coming out b/c they are "redoing them". New biscuits arrive and they are indeed hot. The blueberry jam that came with the whipped butter was peculiar tasting. Almost like a gas flavor was infused in the jam. The jam needless to say was horrible. The biscuits were dense so not my preference but they had a good crust on the top and bottom. I believe the menu is seasonal and perhaps I'll give this place a try again in the spring but not impressed with the selection and service as of today.

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Always a pleasure having dinner here. I love this ambiance as it's brighter and cheery than the one in Asheville. Parking is a bit of a challenge but there are several garage parking options for about $10. I had the pork skillet with Brussels sprouts and rosemary parm potato's. We also had pimento cheese. All was not to disappoint. Sat at the bar and service was great.

Gary R.

Yelp
The world famous fried chicken was a joke! It was literally the smallest legs I have ever seen, I have seen win drummettes bigger! Flavor was just ok! On a positive the collards with bacon were really good. Dessert was hit and miss. Mississippi mud pie is amazing, the banana pudding is very sub par, runny and the very little bit of banana is in edible.
