Turkey Flat Vineyards

We've been to Turkey Flat a couple of times, sometimes with our dog, yesterday without. The wine is great, especially the famous Rose, but the staff have always been especially friendly and helpful. Toasted "Wurst" and "Turkey" with sandwiches, with olives on the side, by the fire was just what we needed yesterday. A quiet location away from the main streets of Tanunda, but still very convenient.

We are Barossan locals & hadn't visited for obviously too long! We had a fabulous Tasting with Cyra looking after us! Obviously the wines speak for themselves but the great staff & surroundings certainly made our visit even more special!

I loved the idea of a small business locally produced wines that are not available at Dan Murphy's. It was a pleasant surprise to pass by Turkey Flat by chance. It was well presented and some of the decors are original from the earlier 20th century. Hayley was about to finish in the room but she accommodated as warmly to do some wine tasting. She was very informative and friendly. It's a credit to the management, keep up the good work Hayley.

We had an unforgettable experience in this place! Exceptional service, a cozy setting, and an incredible wine tasting experience with delicious wines, it's is a hidden gem for any wine lover.

Excellent visit to Turkey Flat Vineyards. Very short drive from Tanunda, warm hospitality, and super kid-friendly. Killer Rose 🙌 and some must-try varietals, especially their GSM. Highly recommended for your next trip

Turkey Flat wines is such a beautiful place to chill out any time of the year! I use the stunning features outside for family photo sessions and also shot an exclusive small wedding here for a couple form the UK. My husband loves the dainty looking bottle of sweet sticky wine they call the Pedro, so I always make sure I grab him a bottle when I visit! if you haven't been to Turkey Flat yet, make sure you chuck it on your list for places to visit in the Baros Valley! Had the best time. Did the wine tasting with cheese platter and it was delicious. Even bought 4 bottles afterwards. Kristie was fantastic and we had so much fun. Highly recommend :)

Absolutely amazing winery. The staff were outstanding and so knowledgeable. Wine tasting was amazing and their food was yummy. Our kids had a great time with all the outdoor activities. Such a lovely winery and a must visit.

One of the things that stands out with this winery is that it happens to have some of the oldest vines in the Barossa, not that you could probably work it out simply by driving through. Then again, I'm not much of an expert in the age of plants. The cellar door is rather small, but they do have a nice area outside where you can sit and enjoy some wine. In fact, the wine itself isn't all that bad either. While it is close to Tanunda, it is still a bit of a hike from the town, but then again you pretty much need a car to get anywhere in the Barossa.

came here on a weekend trip to the Barossa. It's got a quaint and rustic feel to it which makes it all the more enjoyable to sip wine in :D Lovely selection of wines and interesting backstory to the whole place which used to be a butchers!! Left here with a dessert wine which I will be coming back to get more of - awesome.

This was the first winery I visited years ago that actually gave me palletable information on the ins and outs of the winery's various vintages and complexities. It is such a heaving, complex beast, the winery, if you ever get a chance to check out the guts of one on your travels. Everything from planting, protecting, feeding and nurturing (I'm not kidding, Turkey Flat sprayed sunscreen on their vines last vintage! Who woulda thunk it!?) the vines, to the picking, producing, fermenting, bottling, marketing etc etc etc, there are a LOT of moving parts! And to try and understand them is why some people spend years at university learning the craft. However, most wineries won't give you all of their dirty little secrets (alright, some of them might, but they don't want to ruin their chance of a sale so it's unlikely!) that most of the winery workers know. Turkey Flat is the exception for me here. Not that there were any dirty little secrets to be told this time around, but the cellar door attendant, despite only doing 1 day a week, was extremely knowledgable about all of the wines and provided us with some great info on the various vintages, grapes and also general goings on in the area, following the Annual Barossa Vintage Festival which was held last weekend. Go check out the website for more info on the wines, and do yourself a favour and pop in here while you're up in the BV. It's a worthwhile experience and you will taste some truly magic wines.

In my humble opinion, this is one of just a handful of the most worthwhile Cellar doors to visit in the Barossa. I enjoy the boutique wineries that have a small selection of really high quality wines that they have built their reputation around. This style of producer has a real drive to maintain a consistent product of exceptional quality, just like the wines made at Turkey Flat. The cellar door is housed in the old family butcher shop, so it's not big... The rose is hands down a favourite for sunny days and walks that line that is just sweet enough for my friends and just dry enough for me to enjoy it. As is typical of the region they also make excellent examples of wine from Shiraz, grenache and mouvedre grapes. They do a delicious sparkling shiraz and a handful of fortifieds, as well as the well priced 'butchers block' bottles.
