"Plastic Fantastic and the Turning Torso A new Swedish pop music group perhaps? Not quite. On my road trip through Southern Sweden, an architect friend of mine insisted we stop in Malmö to see Santiago Calatrava’s building, the Turning Torso, which was modeled after his own human form sculpture, the Twisting Torso. My friend described the town as “plastic fantastic” because of the vast variation in new architecture styles here, remarking that the Turning Torso is such a notable find within its more sober surroundings. It is, after all, the third tallest residential building in all of Europe. Artsy and industrial, for me, Malmö is reminiscent of something like Dumbo, Brooklyn. Passing through on our road trip, I daydreamed of moving into a loft space in this dynamic city where a majority of the population is under 35. Sponsored by Visit Sweden"

The Turning Torso is one of the most iconic and unique buildings I’ve ever seen — a true architectural wonder that instantly catches your eye from anywhere in Malmö. Designed by the legendary architect Santiago Calatrava, it's not just a skyscraper, it's a piece of art twisting 90 degrees from base to top! At 190 meters (623 feet), it's the tallest building in Scandinavia, and the first twisting skyscraper in the world. Inspired by a human torso in motion, the building consists of nine cubes stacked on top of each other, each slightly rotated to create that incredible spiraling effect. It’s as if the building itself is alive and stretching into the sky. While it’s a residential and office building and not generally open for public tours, just seeing it up close is a powerful experience. The way it reflects sunlight, stands against the sea breeze, and dominates the horizon is genuinely unforgettable. If you’re in Malmö, make sure to walk around the Västra Hamnen area where it stands — it’s a modern, beautifully developed waterfront with great views of the Øresund and the Øresund Bridge. Perfect for photos and architectural appreciation. A must-see for architecture lovers and anyone fascinated by bold, futuristic design!

Open to visit the 54th floor with a tour group in the summer. Tour is given in both Swedish and English. Great view over the city and informative (albeit understandably one-sided) talk on the tower and its symbolism. Part of the talk is given by a host, who then introduces a short video that covers most of the towers (hi)story. Tour cost 195 SEK per person and water is complimentary. Group consisted of about 50 people. Toilets available upstairs. Were given a complimentary bottle of water which was nice.

Just an engineering marvelous building. As the name says, it's a 55-56 floor turning building in the form of torso. The plan is very nice, where in the middle, there are around 6 elavators, giving utmost privacy most of the time to the residents. There is a monitor pad to choose the floor you want to go but One must have RF ID with access to that floor to unlock the floor switch. The lift must of the times take you directly to that particular floor non-stop within 30 seconds. My experience is less than 30 seconds for ground to 54th floor. We could literally have ear pain due to loss of gravity when coming down.

Turning Torso and the Västra Hamnen area are truly breathtaking! The architecture is stunning and feels like the perfect representation of Malmö. It’s similar to how people talk about Tokyo Tower in Tokyo —when people mention Malmö, Turning Torso is always a must-visit recommendation. The most fascinating part is how the surrounding buildings harmonize together, creating such a beautiful and modern atmosphere. I definitely envy those who live in this incredible, clean, and modern area, especially since it’s just a few minutes away from the sea view. A must-see if you’re in Malmö!

We had been very keen to see this building, not only because it is such an interesting construction, but also because it features in our favourite detective series "The Bridge." Well worth a look if you are in Malmö.

I recently visited the Sweden Touring Tourso building, and I must say, it was a great experience. The architecture is quite impressive, with modern touches that blend well with the surrounding area. Inside, everything is well-organized and easy to navigate, making the visit enjoyable. The staff were welcoming and helpful, providing information whenever needed. The overall atmosphere was relaxed, and there’s plenty to see and learn about Swedish culture and history. Whether you’re just passing by or planning a longer visit, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Google
A very good piece of architecture. One of the must visit places in malmo. Located close to the beach shore. But I believe you cannot enter into this building since this is mostly residential and private complex.

Yelp
The Turning Torso in Malmö is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. Standing as the tallest building in Scandinavia, its distinctive twisted design makes it a striking feature of Malmö's skyline. The building is not only impressive from a distance but also up close, where you can truly appreciate its unique structure. While it's primarily residential and not open for public tours, the area around it is vibrant, with parks, restaurants, and stunning views of the Öresund Bridge and the sea. A visit to the Turning Torso offers a glimpse of modern Scandinavian design at its finest.

Yelp
This building is kind of a strange structure to write a review about. Why? Because it's not a location where you can actually go into. This structure is made up of apartments. Yes, you can take a virtual tour. But, people live here. So, though it is a very interesting structure, and has a very unique architectural design, all you can do is look at it from the outside. This being said, it is one of the most recognizable buildings in all of Malmö. You can pretty much see it from all areas of the city. This structure is very close to the shoreline in Malmö. So, it's a nice place to walk to either when you're coming from the ocean or going to the Malmö shoreline. Overall, it is what it is, an interesting structure, and one of the defining factors of Malmö, Sweden.

Yelp
Cool building and structure & worth it to see up close although it is visible from many spots in Malmö. Although a residential building, looks like there is a restaurant and some shops. The area (Västra Hamnen) is nice with the Ribersborgs beach only a few steps away and a few restaurants and cafes in this trendy neighborhood. On a beautiful day, worth the 20 minute walk from Central station!

Yelp
One of the most unique buildings you will ever get to see is the turning torso. In pictures it looks unique but when we got to Malmo and ventured out to see it in person it was even more spectacular than I could have imagined. From our hotel the story which is another architectural wonder the turning Torso was around a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute bus and I would recommend the bus as the weather was extremely cold for someone who is from south Florida. Obviously the swedes and Danes call extremely cold weather like it is moderate winters for them and they love it though. The torso area is still being developed but this being the tallest building in Malmo along with its unique structure is sold out and only open to the viewing public in the summer months but if you want to see the building touch the clouds you will have to brace the moderate winters of Sweden !!!!!

Yelp
Malmo landmark and "tourist attraction", if you want to live in a uniquely shaped residential building, this is it.

Yelp
An architectural feat, several times copied, but never fully. Somehow the playfulness of it stands out nicely against the otherwise depressing Swedish style.

Yelp
Couldn't do much but catch a quick view of the architectural structure. From afar, it's not has impressive. Definitely have other things planned in the area.

Yelp
The turning torso was the "must-see" attraction in Malmö. It looks impressive from the distance when walking through some of the city but it also looks good from the bottom of the tower. They should have painted the tower in another color to avoid seeing dirt marks so easily which is why I'm removing stars from the review. You should go at sunset so that you get a nice reflection of the colours on the tower! The neighbourhood is also different from what you might see elsewhere. It has all those eco-friendly buildings with special architectures, so you might enjoy talking a walk on the coast. Too bad we couldn't go upstairs to see the city from above...

Yelp
This place is probably really fancy inside, but they only have private viewings which I've been unable to gain access to. It looks great from outside and has quickly become a Malmo-landmark-

Yelp
The tower itself is private so once you get there you'll be dissapointed, but from far it is very nice. The area around is nice in the summer when it's not to windy. A village like architectual development built to the highest environmental standards. Silent as cars are sparse. A place that many cities around the world is imitating.
