Great place to hang out and try boardgames before buying! Decent price of $10 for 3 hours per person with a variety of food, drinks, and snacks for purchase. Highly recommended to make a reservation! Service is very friendly and attentive. They are so patient and will explain a game with all its rules to you so you can get playing faster. Love that tips are not required as they are all paid a living wage. I recommend their lucky duck drink as it comes with an adoptable lil duck for a souvenir! Their buttermilk pancakes are delicious and fries are satisfying to snack on while playing. We played Pandemic and Ticket to Ride! Super fun and can't wait to come again.

Really cool hangout with a great selection of board games. Food is perfect for a board games night and they have some funky cocktails. Tips are included.

Highly recommend for all boardgame lovers! For $10/person entrance for 3 hours, this is a great way to spend the afternoon. The staff are attentive and nice and even teach you how to play the games so you don’t need to read the instructions!! Bonus points for the store paying their employees a living wage (customers are not required to tip) and accessible washrooms. There are many games and the staff ensure all pieces are accounted for after each game - great attention to detail. We got some food to eat: chicken strips and waffle fries, soup, tea, hot chocolate and zucchini chocolate loaf. The food was average but good to nibble on. We played Photosynthesis and Hues & Cues, we liked them both. Looking forward to coming again!

Great experience for our anniversary! The staff were friendly, interested in what we were playing, more than willing to suggest a game, knowledgeable, and very attentive. Game selection was great and the food choices were fun and fit the vibe. My husband LOVED that there was cereal on the menu and we adopted a ducky named Count Duckula who will guard our games collection at home and wait for more ducky buddies that are sure to follow! We will definitely be back again!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I felt very comfortable and welcome there. The staff is very helpful and will give you suggestions for games and explain how to play them if you don’t know. They have lots of game options and my favorite was anomia if you’re a bit group. I recommend 100% the cheddar corn fritters, they are so tasty I am still dreaming of them. Great place to hang with friends, definitely recommend

Wow! I had such a fantastic time at Turquoise Goat! Wednesdays are student discount night, so take advantage of that if you're in university. BOOK AHEAD! It costs nothing to make a reservation and it will absolutely guarantee you a spot. I unfortunately saw a few people get turned away due to capacity limits. There were so many games to choose from. We played Exploding Kittens, Sabobatage, Wizard Thieves, and Coop. We liked Wizard Thieves so much, we bought a copy to take home! Wizard Thieves is also by a local artist! Food and drink was pricey, but they do not ask for tips as they pay their employees a living wage, so it works out about the same as what you would pay at most casual sit-down restaurants. I got the Lucky Duck drink and it was SO YUMMY! We also split chicken and fries, it was good but pretty standard, nothing crazy. All employees were super nice and helpful. Most of our games were recommended by a game steward. Definitely worth it to come here! Entry is a good price, but take into account food and drink costs and plan ahead. Loved it!

Walked past this place a few times and finally got the chance to check it out. We made a reservation at 6:45 and it was quite busy on a Thursday evening. So many games to choose from including childhood favorites Trouble and Candyland. Staff were also super helpful and friendly. Cant wait to try some other games next time!

Loved so many things about this place! Excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, fun drinks, great atmosphere, wonderful selection of games. Only area for improvement would be the food items. We ordered the nachos and unfortunately topping distribution was rather sad for the price. Only came with about 2 tbsp's of salsa which is not nearly enough when half the tray of chips has no cheese or toppings. Also, $17 for a wrap with no side seems like a wild price. $6 to add a side of undercooked and under-seasoned fries? Not great. I would definitely return for game playing, but would likely stick with ordering a bucket of popcorn, opting for a full meal elsewhere. Overall, a good boardgame cafe experience with room for improvement in the food department.

Yelp
My friends and I were visiting Vancouver for a week, and our intent was to visit TQ for one three hour block. We got hooked and came two more times! Kayt helped us during our first and third visits, and she was so lovely. She made excellent game suggestions (Raiders of the North Sea and Dominion) both times, based on what we said we liked, did a great job of setting us up and explaining the rules, and checked on us occasionally to help clarify anything. We're all seriously considering buying these games! I loved Kayt's enthusiasm for the games and she seemed genuinely invested in making sure that we had a good time. The second time that we came, we didn't really need a suggestion since we had an idea of what we were interested in from the first time around. The person helping us, while nice, wasn't nearly as attentive as Kayt. She came by here and there, but she didn't spend nearly as much time helping us set up or explaining key rules, and was a lot more hands off. The cocktail that we had (some blue drink with a rubber ducky) was not very tasty - we barely drank it. The other drinks, like the tea or drip coffee, were just alright. Other things to note: - student discount for the stay and play fee on Wednesdays (with ID) - paid parking in the mall lot next door - reservations online If I lived in Vancouver, I'd come here all the time!

Yelp
Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Overall: 5/5 This spot is what Vancouver has been waiting for! I was planning a date night and randomly read about this new boardgame cafe that had just opened in Yaletown so I booked a reservation for a Friday night. When we got there, the place was packed so I definitely recommend making a reso as you might be waiting for a while if you go on weekends without one. We were quickly greeted by the hostess who seated us and explained the concept of the place and noted that there was a $10 fee per person to be in the cafe and be able to play games for up to 3 hours. I think this is a great concept because it ensures people aren't staying for too long and is a fair price to pay for 3 hours. As for the food, their menu has a bunch of items from drinks to snacks and even meals, but since we had just eaten dinner we got a basket of candy to share between us. I would come back to try some of their other items for sure. In terms of service, this place is top notch! You're welcome to pick your own games but we wanted to try out some new 2 player games that we hadn't played before so we asked the staff to suggest some and everything that they suggested was a hit! I never thought we would end up being there the full 3 hours but time flew. Finally, the ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a place called "Turquoise Goat" - lots of fun neon colours and eclectic decor really add to the whole vibe. One thing to note is that this spot is on Hastings in Gastown which may not exactly be the safest area in the city so I would suggest taking a taxi or driving if you're coming here at night, especially alone. Overall, this spot is great to go with friends or on a date and I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I've been here a few times before and always have a great experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and are eager to help you pick out games and guide you on how to get started playing them. Their selection of games is also fantastic. From 1 player to large groups they have you covered. In addition, if you like the games they have to play, they also have a large selection of games to purchase at the front of the cafe. I loved this convenience. Expect to pay a $10 stay and play fee per person for the duration of your visit, but note that you do not tip at this cafe as they state they pay their staff living wages. I loved hearing this. In the past I have ordered the popcorn, chicken Caesar wrap and the nachos. None of these were outstanding dishes but they were cooked well and were the perfect dishes to enjoy alongside games and good company. During normal months their Lucky Duck cocktail is sweet but also quite tart so expect that if you order it. The fun bit with that drink is that you get to take home a squeaky rubber duck that comes in the drink. During Halloween, they offer an "Un-lucky Duck" cocktail which comes with a different rubber duck and a more well rounded flavour. I preferred the un-lucky duck to the regular version. They also have some warm beverages in the colder months like the apple cider or the pumpkin spice. The apple cider was delicious and just what I needed after coming inside out of the cold. The decor in the cafe is bright and fun and the tables are large enough to support maximum game play. I will definitely be back here more frequently!

Yelp
Celebrated a family member's Graduation here. This is located downtown Vancouver so parking can be somewhat challenging, and being around Hasting's street late at night can be a little intimidating. However the Atmosphere inside is incredibly lively. Staff are super friendly, and decorations are really fun. Having been to other game bars that haven't charged a cover-fee or had a time limit, I was a little surprised by that. That being said 10$ is not the end of the world and they have a very large selection of games to choose from all of which are divided into separate carts that are designated to various categories. The 3 hour time limit is interesting and I'm not sure how strongly they enforce it. It does restrict you to the number of games you can play during that time especially if you are learning a new one from scratch. However the most disappointing aspect was the food selection. They have a lot of fund selection, from different flavored popcorn, cereal, bowls of candy Dino-Nuggets, and more. That being said everything felt a little over priced for what you're getting and nothing felt substantial. So come ready to snack or eat something before or after coming.

Yelp
Really good atmosphere. Fair prices ($10/ three hours per adult) Food and drinks are extra Great collection of Board Games. The staff is quite helpful to understand games and they try to teach themselves if any game is new. Friendly services. Not much options for food for dinner.

Yelp
I would say this is a hidden gem of Vancouver! The staff are super friendly and the vibe of the restaurant is welcoming. They have game stewards who come to your table and help you select a game as well as give you a little demo. SO FUN!! Definitely a good spot to go with for a fun games night. They have 2-player games and games for a gang of 10! (Note: they are legally not allowed to have drinking games at this venue) They have bar food and drinks which are good for the price :)

Yelp
I was so excited to book this place because my boyfriend LOVES board games and I haven't seen such a well put together board game store in SoCal. I was able to book our slot online and you pay in store. They had a menu with so many options from snacks like popcorn (so tempted to get), cereal, chicken tenders, drinks, etc. our server was super sweet and was helpful when asking what kind of games we liked and usually play and giving us her recommendations. We loved that the games you play there can also be purchased in their store section of the place. We got Sabobatage and literally the cutest game!!! I told our server I was obsessed with boba so i knew we had to purchase it. We even opened the game up at the airport and played while we waited lol definitely recommend and can't wait to go back in the future!

Yelp
I was looking for an activity to do for my birthday that was bit more outside of the box than making a dinner reso at a fancy restaurant, and The Turquoise Goat made my birthday unforgettable. The first thing that impressed me was their eagerness to please. They asked if there were any certain games I wanted set aside for my bday celebration, which were readily available on the table when I arrived. Additionally, The Turquoise Goat is committed to providing safe space for all, and their inclusive environment was refreshing. The small details to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community were appreciated. These included pronouns on the staff's pins, and the pride flags decorating the windows. Their range of games, adorable cocktails, and funky 80's music video vibes makes this a sure hit for any celebration, and their welcoming staff, and inclusive environment, is a fresh reminder of what a business can do to continue to inspire the community.

Yelp
Terrible service. The staff there were unhelpful and very disrepectful. Food and drinks were ok.
