Turquoise Trading Post

Today, I visited Turquoise Trading Post in search of an authentic dream catcher made by a Native American. After doing some internet search, this place stood out with good reviews. I was skeptical but was pleasantly surprised to find that this store had so many authentic native made items from Pueblo pottery, to PNW bone boxes, rugs, jewelry, masks, Apache-made dream catchers, and an arrow (decorative) but handmade. I could browse this place for hours!!! P:S: The first arrow pic, is of medieval England style, and the red, white banded arrow is a Navajo-made from Turquoise Trading Post.

I've bought a few pieces over the last couple years, always happy with the quality & selection. I have a ring I purchased there and I damaged it (my fault) and I stopped in for advice on fixing or replacing, which I didn't want to do. All the staff were super friendly and they came up with options and I left a very happy camper. Great staff and they reinforced the reason I shop here, customer care. Thanks y'all.

I am so impressed with this store! They helped me repair three pieces of jewelry that have sentimental attachment for no charge! The people who work there are incredibly nice. I had no idea it was such a great gift shop. I was happy to make a purchase of a decorative lizard to add to my collection!

Is there such thing as heaven on Earth?... well if you must ask, you obviously haven't been to the Turquoise Trading post yet. The selection is ridiculously varied, beware if you are worried about spending hours of your life HAVING A BLAST! The staff were very patient with me even when I kept changing my mind, they are very knowledgeable and skilled at what they do!

Loved loved loved this Native American Jewelry boutique! I had a great time shopping with their crew for a couple of hours. Friendly, fun, and knowledgeable staff who are extremely gracious and helpful. They have a very large selection of beautiful pieces with high-quality turquoise (from a good variety of mines) and excellent craftsmanship (bracelets, earrings, rings, pendants, necklaces). I have been collecting Native American jewelry for years, so I know what I'm looking for, and they had some very unique pieces worthy of adding to my collection. Prices are reasonable and range from inexpensive into the thousands for the highest quality items. The shop is in a strip mall, but don't let that deceive you. There is a lot here for the serious collector. They feature some items online as well and will ship. I will be back every time I am in Austin.!!!!

Love love this store! Found while visiting and had to get so many unique pieces 😍 Two onyx cuffs, two turquoise cuffs, one turquoise ring and one strand of Navajo pearls (3mm 14in, but they added some chain on the back so I could adjust). Absolutely adored Amelia that helped me look at SO MANY pieces and was patience and helpful. Will return 🫶🏻 PS. The best part is they have a shop cat who is so chill and friendly 😆

I absolutely love this shop! I constantly get compliments on the rings I have from here and refer people here whenever I can. A stone has fallen out of one of my rings and Kara took the time to look for a stone to replace it with and then she set it for me too! She was so helpful and sweet. I am also obsessed with the shop cat and their cute lil turquoise collar! So much to look at in this shop, a must see if you haven’t been already.

Absolutely loved this Native American trading post. My husband and I were visiting from California and I love authentic Native American jewelry, especially turquoise. I came in looking for large turquoise rings as they are my favorite. They had a large and beautiful variety of all types of jewelry. Right when we walked in we were greeted by a woman, and she pulled out trays for me and let me take my time looking through so many amazing pieces while sharing information on the different stones. I fell in love with a white buffalo turquoise ring. I can be indecisive and she was patient and didn't rush me at all which I appreciated. The two rings I ended up selecting were a bit snug and she was able to make them a little larger in the back for me. We also brought home some gifts for our kids - Talking sticks which were crafted from Native American artists and had the name of the artist, tribe along with the date it was made .. pretty neat. They had a few really beautiful pieces that were all made by Native American artists. Love my rings and would highly recommend this store. Thank you for the great experience.

This is such a fun souvenir store to visit! They have a wide selection of native Americans artworks, potteries, jewelry and outfits. From bookmarks, shoes, necklaces, paintings, to marble stones, you'll find a great variety of art pieces inside the store. They also have a lot of Minnetonka shoes (for both adults and kids). The only reason I give 3 stars is because most of the stuffs I saw are a little overpriced. For instance, a piece of wood animal bookmark costs $7, and a stone bear costs $260. A mini accessories dish costs &10. I'd still recommend to ppl who are looking for Native American or local souvenirs though. So many treasures and cute stuffs.

The items/products here were beautiful. The jewelry is all gorgeous.. however.. the fact that native Americans have endured so much trauma and are still affected I don't understand how anyone could purchase Native American art from Caucasian people. I traveled to this store from far and was disappointed when the workers couldn't look me in my face, let alone say hello but catered to everyone else in the store. I had very high hopes of purchasing a special necklace for myself but none of it seemed authentic because they had pictures of the artists whom were NOT Native American and all the workers weren't either, let alone their energy wasn't much friendly. I just don't see the point on spending hundreds on something given the atmosphere and experience. I find it offensive these people are making money off of a culture that they clearly didn't grow up with. Where are the real Native American trading posts in this country??? The authentic ones with authentic Native American artists. Response to response: not really sure how you can tell a customer that your employees have great customer service when I clearly stated how they treated me. My review was my honest opinion and experience with nothing to gain by lying. I still view the experience the same way. I personally own and inherited a vast amount of statues and art that were obtained at actual reservations from native Americans themselves- all obtained in person more than 20 years ago.. so I'm not a noob viewing art. You have beautiful items which nobody can deny, but the overall energy isn't authentic or welcoming. And if you feel like you're helping the native community by having stuck up Caucasian women working your business (which you were not there might I add) then you truly need a wake up call. I will consider removing my review in time, as an owner you obviously love your business and I have no intentions on diminishing it even in the slightest, but the customer service was truly isolating and unsatisfactory.

Dropped off a turquoise necklace that was missing half of the clasp to be able to wear it. They not only fixed it the same day, added the missing hook and did not charge me! Great customer service and would highly recommend!

We came from California to visit some family and were looking for a good local trading post. This one was supposed to be the largest store of native american jewelry in the state of Texas. My husband loves this kind of stuff, so we have seen a lot of trading posts in a lot of states. This one was exceptionally well organized and well staffed. On a Sunday, they had at least 5-6 associates on the floor and we were well taken care of. The shop itself may not seem vast, but they certainly carry the largest collection I have ever seen. And it is not just turquoise - other stones as well - and a huge variety of items; from your regular rings and earrings to bolo ties and belts and hat bends. I must say I have noticed a lot of modern/temporary jewelry, so they work with artists as much as they work with estate sales, auctions, etc. All associates were knowledgable and we ended up spending about an hour there and walked out with some good finds. We bargained for a discount and got 10% off - never hurts to ask :) A really cool place for turquoise lovers!

Turquoise Trading Post is my #1 choice in beautiful native jewelry. In the past I have purchased conversation pieces for both my Grandmothers, my Mother and Mother in Law. Staff is so friendly and very knowledgeable on everything they offer to the public. We passed thru Austin today and stopped in for my 8 year old son's birthday because he LOVES jewelry. We got matching rings as well as really cool Indian arrowheads and a Spear. I love it that he has an appreciation for the art and heritage. Kara has been my personal contact there for years and she helps me with gift selections around the important holidays when I'm ready to gift. This place is an Austin gem, and even if you go to look around, you will enjoy the time spent looking at all the treasures this place has to offer.

Great gift store!! This store is " museum" like with Native American art , jewelry, sacred pieces for rituals and traditions. Leather pouches. Stones. Candles. Wood carvings, Native drums, feathers, hatchets, spear heads, dream catchers, so much cool stuff. You'll be glad to know this store exists in Austin. I am such a fan of walking thru this store.

The only reason they got 1 star is because there isn't an option for zero stars. My mother in law purchased turquoise earrings at this place. She took them home and cleaned them with toothpaste. The gem started to get discolored, my mother in law called the store and told the owner. The owner said, "well that should not happen, bring it in and we will look at it". She got there and the owner and the sales rep were VERY rude, they ended up giving her a refund but told her to NEVER come back again. With times being tough for retail, one would think that the owner would be nice to all customers, even is there is a disagreement. If you want cheap or fake turquoise with zero customer care, go to this place and buy. If not, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful stones and pieces of jewelry and home decor. I bought earrings for myself and friends. Quality and very reasonably priced + some of the nicest staff ever!

What a major disappointment this place was. Service is either condescending or non-existent - depending on which employee "waits on" you. appears that the owner is so busy hiding in the back and he can't be bothered with customers. they would not even discuss repairing 2 pieces of Native American jewelry I inherited . makes me sad but I guess I will have to take my jewelry to Tucson when I go next month - surely someone there will talk to me... Disappointing because the variety of merchandise is incredible - such amazing possibilities.

Update came into the store 9/1...immediately noticed a dfference within the environment. Manager decided to confront me in front of everyone (in front of 4 other employees plus customers) by calling out my name on here. I asked if we should talk about it privately. He stated "no" that he wanted to discuss this right there. I don't have a problem to admitting to anything. If I' bold enough to put a review with clues of who I am...I'm bold enough to repeat it!!! I told him everything was about what was perceived and what I've experienced. He immediately stuck up for his employee(s). I seen the conversation wasn't going anywhere and even though he didnt see what I experienced or even cared...he still didnt believe anything as if they're angelic... I informed him that I was going to immediately pay off my layaway and never return...he said ok. Despite the negative vibes in the past, I still went to this store and referred alot of people here. After this negative and unprofessional confrontation..It definitely could've been handled better...I will not support a business like this. Turquoise is abundant.

So the first thing i LOVE about this store is Lucille, the big fat black cat that snoozes on the jewelry cases. The more important thing is that assuming I was more fiscally responsible, it would be possible to walk in here with some kind of visa black card and come out looking like a fully bedecked Native American princess. It appears tiny from the outside but rest assured, when you walk in it's a magical wonderland of turquoise and silver and head dresses and art and stretched drums and masks and various things for anyone who loves the southwest. A perfect spot for unique gifts for the holidaze. The kicker is that the staff is SO nice and knowledgeable. Had a great conversation with the lady that worked there about native american things you can do in Austin. It's really a neat shop sandwiched between a series of super random things like an asian market and a comic book store. Worth a Saturday shopping stroll.

I recently decided that as an adult, I need to expand my collection of "real" jewelry. I always wore the costume stuff and became sad when it tarnished. I have always been drawn to silver jewelry, and heard about TTP through a friend. They were supposed to have an extensive collection of Native-American-made jewelry, and I was interested to see this collection. Back in April I visited TTP, and bought the most exquisite cocktail ring with an oval Dry Creek turquoise stone. I also bought a pair of gorgeous dangly sterling silver earrings in the shape of a leaf. And a tiny turtle-shaped pendant with inlaid opal. And some opal and silver earrings. As you can see, I found it hard to stop! I wanted to bring so many more pieces home, but I was already well over budget! Anyway, I vowed to come to TTP every time I visited Austin. And I have. To my collection I've now added a 20-inch snake chain, and a green turquoise ring, and a bright blue turquoise ring that I knew would be mine as soon as I slipped it on -- it felt MADE for me! I just bought a beautiful pair of blue turquoise slab earrings and another turtle pendant for a friend's birthday and I know she is going to love it. Other things to know: --Ask for Kara. She is very knowledgable and kind and she will help you pair the perfect pieces together. She models a lot of the jewelry in new and exciting ways that will show you what you can do with these individual pieces. --Jim the owner is also very kind! He always demonstrates a genuine caring attitude toward his employees and his customers. --Check out Lucille the cat! She often sleeps in a basket on the counter next to the register -- she will give your beautiful pieces the final meow of approval! --The shop also does layaway (and some of these pieces are quite elaborate and range into the thousands!) and shipping. --The shop has more than women's jewelry -- it has an extensive assortment of Native American curios and knick-knacks, men's jewelry, clothing, and other items. If you're trying to find a one-of-a-kind gift for someone who loves Southwestern style, Native American jewelry, or sterling silver, Turquoise Trading Post is the place for you! I guarantee that you will pick up something for yourself as well. I have never been able to walk out of here without doing it.

Very friendly owner and store associates. Went in completely clueless looking for a gift. The owner helped us out a lot and gave us some history on the tribes we wanted the gift to be from. This place is huge! If you want anything Native American Turquoise Trading Post is the place to go. Also, I noticed cat bowls in the store and am sad that I didn't get to meet him/her! You will "Oooh" and "Ahhh" your way through Turquoise Trading Post. Head north on Burnet Road (or take Mopac to 2222, then left on Burnet) to find this gorgeous store full of Native American jewelry, art, clothing, literature and keepsakes. Turquoise offers some of the most exquisite and authentic American Indian jewelry I've ever seen. If you can't tell from the piece, you can tell from the price. Real turquoise necklaces for $225. Intricately designed rings and bracelets for $300. If you know a man or woman with a turquoise thirst, I would recommend this place above all others. If you do manage do break out of the love-trance coma that the jewelry creates, check out the rest of the store. The remainder of the space is dedicated to handmade luxuries (jewelry and gift boxes, pottery, leather goods) and Native American-inspired retail (t-shirts, literature). If for no other reason, pay a visit to Turquoise to see their one-of-a-kind carved boxes. They come in varying shapes and sizes and have velvet-lined drawers for jewelry or keepsakes. Awesome. The jewelry will cost you, but the rest of the goods are moderately priced. Great gift store. Turquoise Trading Post is Top Notch.

Pros- great selection of turquoise jewelry Cons-staff is rude and seem to judge others by their appearance. In the middle of a crowded store, one the of the salesman yells out loudly" No Soliciting!!!!!" to this sweet, little Asian woman who was trying to speak to him. Granted, I am sure stores don't appreciate solicitation, but it was obvious she had a language barrier, and didn't understand what he was saying. Afterwards, three young people in their twenties come in dressed in Austin hippie attire and the sales people look at them like they are aliens from another planet. Granted they weren't dressed in upscale attire, but you could tell by the way the sale people watched them that were already being judged as if they couldn't afford what was in the store.

Thank you to Turquoise Trading Post for repairing my vintage turquoise jewelry! I cant wait to come back and pick something out for myself! This is one of my favorite places in all of Austin with an amazing variety of jewelry!

Okay this place is great. Awesome selection, good prices, friendly staff, and it doesn't end here! What really impressed me is that they really stand behind their jewelry. I purchased a ring here about a year ago and one of the stones fell out. I brought it back to get it fixed and no questions were asked. The turnaround was quick as well! Ya'll rock!

LOVE this store! The staff is so polite and genuine. The first time I visited I walked in after work 15 minutes before closing (I know, nobody's favorite) and they were super polite. They greeted me in and gently reminded me "they were closing soon but would be happy to show me anything that caught my eye in the meantime." The selection they had was pretty overwhelming so I took a quick look and planned to return. Today was my second trip and once again I was blown away by the great customer service. I found way too many items I wanted to take home (danger zone!) and had a fun shopping spree. Jewelry prices are reasonable and their trunk shows are fab. Get on the mailing list for great deals

I was visiting Austin and was delighted to find the turquoise trading post! The store has something for everyone, excellent customer service and is a very fun shop with lots to see. I did not get the saleswomans (taller gal) name who helped me today but she went above and beyond and I left a very very happy customer. I will surely return next time I'm in Austin!

This place is awesome. Over the years, this became my favorite place to shop for my mother and my wife. Recently, one of the staff members was truly kind and helped me out with something I bought for my mother that didn't work out. I ended up buying a bunch of moccasins because I was so happy. Sadly, I just moved out of Austin and can't shop here anymore, and it will be a big loss for me and my family.

I was disappointed in this business. I was making monthly payments on my jewelry a ring and a bracelet. My ring that I chose was not there and was probably sold to someone.The bracelet that I had was switched out because I could barely get it on compared to when I first tried it on. And no I did not gain weight I am a skinny person. I will never buy jewelry from them again they ripped me off.

One of my favorite stores in the city!!! I have done business with TTP for about 3 years and I don't plan on stopping! Jim and his crew are extremely helpful and great people. They will go above and beyond to make their customers happy even when its not their jewelry that you bring into the store. I've bought, traded and had repairs done here. I am so thankful to have such a great Native American store right in the heart of ATX. You guys rock!

I've never seen this amount of beautiful turquoise jewelry and native american product in one spot. You have to drive a bit from downtown but it's worth every mile! I bought a perfect simple pair of studs that I'll be wearing every day.

Seriously, I can't even believe someone was so rude to me in a retail store. WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER... My sweet boyfriend took me here to look for presents for myself and my family. We were THE ONLY CUSTOMERS in the store, and are very polite, well dressed individuals (no reason to be rude to us). The store had amazing merchandise and we were considering a few items to purchase. My boyfriend said several times to the owner that he loved the items in the store as we were very joyfully looking around saying nice things out loud about the art and gift items in the Native American Themed store. We saved the jewelry section for last, because it was kind of overwhelming and we wanted to look at that very closely after enjoying all the other items in the store. When my boyfriend asked the older man (who is the owner of the store) to get an idea of how much the bracelets were - the owner was extremely rude and said in a gruff tone that was very off putting, "from $40-$900" - then I asked him what tribe of Native American Jewelry one piece was and he was also extremely nasty to me and I started to feel very VERY uncomfortable. Then my boyfriend asked to see a ring and the man basically told us to come back another day because he had too many rings there. We were very puzzled by his response to which he basically said he had better things to do than show us the rings. He was VERY nasty. Now, I have to say: #1- I dont know if it was just "closing time" or whatever - but after having worked for over 15 years in customer service and retail, I know that he did not handle that properly AT ALL. You never treat customers rudely, under any circumstances. Its part of doing business! AND we are the nicest couple you will ever meet, so clearly the man has major issues with communicating with human beings. All he had to say very nicely was - "is there something I can help you with today - we are closing in five minutes" or something like that. We would have respectfully thanked him and come back of our own accord another time - but now WE WILL NEVER SPEND OUR MONEY IN THAT STORE. EVER. and we both have HUGE social media followings of over 5,000 people and we will tell them about what we experienced. #2- A gift store is not a place to get something you truly need like food. Its a luxury item and the business itself thrives ONLY on personal relationships. Those relationships translate to sales and repeat business that keeps a business running. Ruining relationships with customers ruins your business. This man should sell his business to someone who likes treating people well OR NEVER BE THE ONE RUNNING THE STORE. If you cant be a nice person, you shouldnt be in a business based on people. #3 - ITS A NATIVE AMERICAN STORE - the culture is spiritual. Native Americans are kind people. Everything sold there is something from an artisan. The mans attitude is not in alignment with his business... and now I have a really bad taste in my mouth when I pass that place. Its just not cool to be rude to people. EVER. #4- THIS REVIEW BETTER STAY HERE OR I WILL MAKE A BIG DEAL AND CONTACT THE LOCAL TV, RADIO, NEWSPAPERS AND PLASTER THIS ACROSS THE WEB FOR MILLIONS. Yelp is about honest reviews from real people. If this gets censored I am going to make a video and make a bigger deal about this.

I love TTP! Be prepared to spend quite a bit of time in here as the selection is wide and varied. I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted. Since I don't live in the same city if you follow them on Facebook you can see pieces and contact them for pricing. I think they even have an Etsy store. Even better they will send you pictures and you can place your order, and I got mine much faster than I was anticipating and it was packaged securely.

I don't come to Austin too often, but every time I do I stop at the Turquoise Trading Post to buy a present for my mom. Each time I've gone the staff has been super helpful and patient. I can always find the perfect gift here.

A Native American theme runs through the entirety of the place, but also if you are looking for decor for a lake property, ranch house or western type lodge, they can cover your needs. Some beautiful and truly unique pieces in here. I purchased a very cool cross inlaid with turquoise for a pretty reasonable price here. Don't go in when you're in a hurry because you'll want to take your time in here. COOL PLACE!!

This place is incredible! It's inexplicable that every single discerning fashionista in Austin isn't swarming this place all weekend long, but honestly, that's good news for you. It's a best-kept-secret only locals know kind of place, and it will be my spot from now on. They have a massive, mind-blowing collection of jewelry, both new and vintage. The owner is incredibly knowledgable about the history and design of all of his pieces, so you're also getting a mini history lesson with each of your purchases. They also have plenty of trendy and highly sought after items like Pendelton blankets and pillows, and Minnetonka shoes, all at very reasonable prices, plus you're supporting a local business. I love this place. It's in an innocuous location, but you should make a special trip. It's huge and filled with amazing stuff - jewelry, baskets, blankets, shoes, statues, dreamcatchers, and wall decor. Not to be missed.

I agree with the previous review. The Turquoise Trading Post is top notch. It's certainly the most authentic place I've found for Indian jewelry in Austin. I lived near here for three years and never went in because the storefront was so unassuming. (Still is, in fact.) (I suppose one could say that was lucky? I.e. Maybe I saved some money?) I finally went in a few months back and bada bing! This is the place. I've had nothing but kind and generous service when I've gone. The owner is sweet, smart and resourceful. There is lots of jewelry and not all of it is expensive, like the first write up said. But, if you have champagne taste (ahem) and turquoise or Indian jewelry is your thing, have no fear: there will be product to match your taste. :)

I will drive so out of my way to go to this place. Last year, I bought all my Christmas presents for every female in my life at this store. Such beautiful jewelry!!!! You can actually find some very reasonable priced turquoise at this place, as well as extremely expensive pieces. It's in a shopping center, so it's never hard to find parking. It's a quiet place to browse and shop, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They will stay with you the entire time trying to help you find the perfect piece of jewelry. They have Minnetonka Mocassins and Pendelton blankets, pillows, bags, dishes, etc. In addition, they have a ton of accessories for the home including variations of woodwork and crosses. If you're into the Southwestern decor and jewelry...please do yourself a favor and go to Turquoise Trading Post. You will definitely NOT regret it!

I sent a picture in a FB message that I had lost the stone in a ring I had just purchased. They got right back to me to bring it in they would take care of it. While there I also had a Zuni cuff watch band changed and my ring fixed so It would fit. there is every thing you could possibly want in this store. Sand art, Zuni Bears, Drums, Amazing wood boxes, rings, watches, Pendants, flutes, so much I could spend a day there. While there I found another ring and another watch I really like and bought. Prices are great and they are a great bunch of people. Don't for get to say hi to Lucile. she loves to sleep in the basket near the register. This is for sure my new toy store.

I love this store because they have an amazing collection of both new and rare vintage Southwest Jewelry. They rival all the store on the Santa Fe plaza! I just got lucky and happened upon it one day and was amazed by how big it is and how many Native American treasures lie within. Totally great place to buy gifts and the staff is super friendly. They even fixed an antique turquoise ring for me free of charge! Awesome place, deceptively discreet on the outside. Oh, and before I forget, they have cool moccasins, the Minnetonka brand moccasins that are super stylin'.

My wife and l stopped in to look around for a man's Navajo Indian cuff for me today. In addition to a great selection of Indian jewelry for men the customer service was top shelf. They took their time showing each piece and there was no pressure to purchase. I ended up purchasing two Navajo men's cuffs and will definitely return again. They get it that it's about customer service and they now will have a repeat customer.

My favorite place to shop in Austin. Period. So many cool things in here. If you like Native American styling you have to visit. The prices make much of the art prohibitive for me at this point, but its fun to look. We have some cool geode wind chimes and moose moccasins from here. I don't often shop, but when I do, I choose the Turquoise Trading Post.

Everything is beautiful. Great for gifts. It's a little pricey but everything is so special and makes it worth your money. They have all kinds of stuff. It's better if you just stop in and check it out

I went in there on Monday the week of Christmas with a small clue of what to get my wife. Walking in I was greeted by the nice staff. Looking around I was a bit over whelmed and I didn't know where to start. I spoke with a women named Natalie, who was extremely helpful. I ended up buying a beautiful opal necklace, she said it was made by a group of artist called a Touch of Santa Fe. My wife was thrilled on Christmas day, she loved it so much. I want to thank Natalie for helping me with my choice. I do plan on going back for future gifts for my wife.

Reposting, due to the business paying yelp to obscure it. (How yelp works) This place has cool merchandise, I have bought probably $1000 worth of random odds and ends. They are pricier that they should be, though it is a brick-and-motar store, so I can understand needing to keep the lights on. Where it all goes downhill is the staff, and evidently the owner himself. I went in to purchase a gift for my wife's birthday and found a really cool, if expensive, item. Long story short, the item was damaged, and when I went to exchange it (2 days later), there were no comparable items available for exchange. They were unwilling to work with me on a more expensive item, so I asked if I could simply exchange for a cheaper item and receive a refund for the difference. I was then informed that they DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS for any reason, that they would only provide store credit. I was told by a younger gentlemen with glasses that only the owner could offer refunds, but never does. After waiting several days for the owner to come back into town. I was still told no refunds, ever, for any reason, even though I was originally looking to still spend SOME money with them. I told them I wanted a refund for the entire purchase amount at this point as I was dissatisfied with their customer service and business practices. I was told again, no refunds for any reason. So unfortunately, due to the fact that they sold me damaged merchandise and were unwilling to work with me. I had to let them know that I would simply be taking this up with my bank to charge-back the transaction if they were unwilling to help. Well guess what, they processed the return! Followed by a snarky "...and please don't ever come back!" from the thin framed guy in glasses. I let them know that would certainly not be a problem. To which he responded, "buh-by now, please leave! buh-by!". Classy. I may have muttered some expletives on the way out after that comment, but I was pretty cordial up until that moment, never raised my voice, never uttered any profanity. Now it is this hilarious story I get to tell about being banned from a Native American jewelry store, simply for expecting them to offer basic customer service. The funny thing too, is that the item I bought has a 60 day money back guarantee from the manufacturer, FOR ANY REASON! As a dealer, they likely could have called them up and worked something out. Instead they lost quite a bit of future business.

This place is heaven. Such gorgeous art, of every kind.... I never want to leave. Breautiful pieces in a beautiful store..presentation is accessible and fun to shop. I want everything!!

100% the most wonderful and amazing store for Native jewelry in town. The gentleman that owns it is the kindest most helpful man around. He will always have my business. Need something repaired? He will take care of you 100% and give you the best advice. Love this place!

I like going here because the strip mall itself is kind of a cultural emporium. You've got your Catholic Gift Shop, your comics (Dragon Lair), your Japanese grocer, imports, and pirated DVDs, your wig store, and, of course, Turquoise Trading Post. Turquoise Trading Post has a black cat that sleeps curled up in a woven basket on the counter. I believe said feline also has a business card available upon request. Last time I was there, the staff thanked me for "visiting our beautiful city"; funny because I live here, but was profiled somehow as a foreigner. Could it be I wasn't wearing moccasins? The Turquoise Trading Post is my current favorite go-to for gifts that fall into the category "wood arts". I mean that in every sense: T-shirts depicting animals which reside in the woods; countless carvings and crafts made out of cherry, oak, pine, etc; jewelry and adornments made from wood. Obviously, there is a plethora of turquoise, mostly in wearable form. Lots of petrified wood and Native American relics for sale and on display. I noticed a few "We don't call 9-1-1" gun-pride magnets, and there's plenty else here to associate the place with rural culture in general, with cowboy culture specifically, all with an overall affinity for Native American religion and art. It's such an interesting place; in addition to all that, you have the added dimension of New Age chakra adherents and energy healers, coupled with the spendy energy of young hipsters eager to co-opt the aesthetics of any culture not their own. Plus, don't forget there is a cat with a business card. It is truly the dive bar of precious rocks boutiques, with much more diverse a consumer crowd than say, Nature's Treasures (giggle). All that aside, at least for their wooden goods, I would say their pricing couldn't be more fair. I purchased a beautiful, stained, hand-painted small wooden box and a petrified wood, laser-cut Christmas tree ornament for $25 dollars, which is nothing compared to prices I've seen at similar special interest/ Country Western stores. I've seen those little boxes start at $30 in places in rural North Dakota. And it's true that North Dakotans love their wooden boxes, but so do Texans, I'd wager, and $25 for two carefully-created items is a straight-up steal. As I'm not a collector/ aficionado/ Native American/ pranic healer/ cowboy/ sorority sister, I can't really speak to much of the Turquoise selection, for which this institution is probably most revered, but I can say it was very large. At least half the inventory in this store appears to be Turquoise jewelry/ belt buckles/ decorative adornments. The staff is very nice! I've been told punny jokes on more than one occasion. And they gift wrapped my purchases for free!

I've been going to the Turquoise Trading Post for years and always have the best of experiences there. Recently, I had to take in my belt buckle (purchased from the trading post) in for a repair. Somehow I managed to loose a stone from the belt buckle and they replaced the turquoise stone without charge. That's what's I call standing behind one's work.

I like the staff and the store's inventory. Have shopped there for gifts a few times a year for past several years. I give them a 3 star rating, b/c what's up w/ their website? Maybe it's under construction?

This is a wonderful little gem in the Alandale area. I dropped by one day on my way to Dragon's Lair and I'm glad I did. They have all kinds of native American jewelry made from unique precious and semiprecious materials that you won't see at Kay Jewelers such as spiny oyster shell. They have beautiful pottery as well. My house has more than a few choice pieces from here. Prices are reasonable and the owner is kind and friendly. Lucille, the store cat, always seems to be sleeping in a bowl as you walk in.
