This is truly the worst hotel I've ever visited. It was so bad it is difficult to know where to start. From the beginning: arrival by boat and a welcome non-alcoholic punch was welcome. However, it was a good 200m from the arrival jetty to the reception and no baggage trolleys or help was available - they don't provide for this service! The room was very dark. No air-conditioning anywhere in the hotel, nowhere, even though it was over 30 degrees and humidity was in the high 90s. We had 2 low speed and ineffective fans, controlled by one on/off switch. One lady I spoke to suffered from heat-stroke and although we've lived in hot and humid climates for years, we were very uncomfortable. There were no windows in the rooms, just very dense mesh. No water or tea facilities in the room - no water, wth!! No maid service throughout our entire stay, the room was never cleaned or beds made (there was nothing to replenish so I can't complain about that!). Hot and cold water were provided from a machine at the reception. Probably the worst aspect, even given the appalling rooms, was the food. It was appalling cooked, massively over-cooked or raw, and everything swimming in water. The food was dished out by the staff who must have been told that they could eat the non-dispensed food, as you served miniscule portions, at every meal. At lunch and dinner no coffee or tea was available. The food was simply the worst I've ever been served, by quite a margin, and bear in mind that there are no other food outlets available. The location is great, but if you must visit this area give this place a very wide berth. I'm not exaggerating in my review, I've been a world traveller for nearly 50 years and have been to plenty of out of the way rough places, but to put it in context: the food and often the accommodation I experienced in tea houses in the Nepalese Himalayas far exceeded the standards of this dump!
