The Turtle Inn Nikko annex Hotori-an is a lovely little inn nestled near the Kanmangafuchi Abyss that is famous for its many jizzo statues! It is a very naturally beautiful location, however it is pretty secluded with the nearest convenience store a ten minute or so walk from the inn. Also, most things in Nikko close very early so you need to be aware of this especially when making dinner plans as there are only a few restaurants open late near the inn.

a wonderful and quiet hotel in a stunning location. a little bit off the main road - there is some walking to do if you don't have a car. in any case it is well worth it because the hotel is right by the river and has an indoor onsen.

One of two turtle inns in Nikko. Great location and very helpful staff. The private onsen overlooks the River. Rooms are simple but have everything needed. Breakfast is continental style. Location is hard to beat. Walk out and turn right and you are entering the area of the abyss. The shrines are about 1/3 of a mile away. There is also a villa just across the river that is worth visiting.

The room is very small, but that is of course to be expected as it’s a 2-star hotel. However, even though it’s a 2-star hotel, it felt like a 5 star for me because of the super nice and sweet owners and the location was just perfect for every prefecture I wanted to visit in Nikko. Also, the value for money you get here including breakfast was so worth it! Highly recommend this place!

Nice hôtel if you want to stay away from the crowded part of the city. You will only hear the river flowing next to your room. Nice rooms with tatami and a wonderful onsen that can be privatized.

A cozy place on the riverside at Nikko. Walking distance from the bus station and the convinience store.
We used their private onsen every day and it was so relaxing!

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Lovely place on the river with a private onsen (non reserved with a 30 minute max). Staff wonderful, clean rooms and a nice breakfast for an additional 1500 yen per person. This area is so beautiful and has so much to offer.

We absolutely loved our stay. After a few days in loud, busy Tokyo, it was nice to slow down. This place is right by a river, that we could hear all night. We slept peacefully.
We also used the private onsen, also with views of the river.
An add-on breakfast was available but we opted to eat in town.
We would stay here again.
