Really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Lovely place on the river with a private onsen (non reserved with a 30 minute max). Staff wonderful, clean rooms and a nice breakfast for an additional 1500 yen per person. This area is so beautiful and has so much to offer.

We had a wonderful few days at the Turtle Inn annex over new year. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, and gave us the superb advice to go up to the shrines at midnight on new year's eve - if you happen to be in Nikko over the new year holiday you should 100% make sure you do this, it was an incredible experience. We stayed in the Japanese style tatami room, which was a first for us. It was really cosy and comfy, especially with the sound of the river outside. The hotel is situated right near the entrance to the beautiful Kanmangafuchi abyss and a short walk from the shrines. This was perfect for us as we prefer a quiet location. It's around 30-40 minute walk from the train stations, but you can take a bus or taxi too.

Clean B& B with comfortable living area. Enjoyable breakfast at extra charge. Hot Springs experience availability daily from 16.00 to 23.00. Compliments green tea & water. Located on edge of residential area short walk to Jizel status. Beds on the floor, these were more comfortable than the expected. The shower was easy to use & powerful. Clothes dryer facility.complimentary toiletries if required.

We absolutely loved our stay. After a few days in loud, busy Tokyo, it was nice to slow down. This place is right by a river, that we could hear all night. We slept peacefully. We also used the private onsen, also with views of the river. An add-on breakfast was available but we opted to eat in town. We would stay here again.

Not very central at all, so without a car you'll got some walking to do to the bus station. The man at the front desk was incredibly nice and welcoming! Truly the highlight of the stay. Putting it into perspective though how good ryokans across Japan can be, this doesn't deserve more than 3.5 stars for pricing and value. We had no towels in the room (needed to ask). We also did find hairs on our beds, while the bathroom was squeaky clean. The worst part was that people slammed doors and talking loudly until 11.30pm and it started again at 6.20am in the morning. I don't think this was guests, it must have been someone doing kitchen things or cleaning. You could hear this through earplugs in our room which was directly above the entry area. Overall, wouldn't stay again.

We loved our stay here! The onsen is so delightful- a nice view of the river to enjoy while you soak. I wanted to keep the turtle print pajamas- very cute. The breakfast was good and the snacks and tea were perfect for us when it rained. The location is not far from the bus stop, restaurants, and the amazing wonderful jiro statues.

There were 3 flying black beetle like bugs the size of a grape in one of the two rooms I booked. My wife and my sister were disgusted/scared so we asked to cancel our two rooms after 15 mins of checking in. The owner, an old guy, said it's normal to see bugs in hotels near the mountains. He said these don't bite but release a bad smell as if that makes it any less worse. He refunded only one of the rooms saying the other one is fine. We no longer feel comfortable staying here so we took a loss. We went to a 3 star hotel and don't see any bugs.

A nice place to stay with family members but the location is a little bit far from amenities like bus stop convenience store etc. you have to call a taxi to get to the city.
