Nice quiet hotel in the historical center of Nikko. Very close to the shrines and temples of Nikko, and you can easily drive to the lake Chuzenji, different waterfalls and other nice nature places. The building itself is a bit old, so the rooms are chilly, but there in AC and a separate heater, and the beds have warm blankets. The bathroom inside the room is quite small with little space, but there are two common use baths inside the hotel that you can use privately. There is also a yukata that is given for your stay. The room itself is surprisingly spacious by japanese standards. We got the room in the corner so had a nice view on the river and trees right from the room. There is a big dining room with free tea, instant coffee, hot water, cups and utensils; you can order breakfast or just come eat your own food. There is a common fridge that all the guests can share. The hotel has coin laundry (recommended to use before 9pm), but the drier is very, very slow, so we ended up going to the separate coin laundry in the city. The owners are very friendly and even gave us small gifts when we were departing!
Overall, great base to go to Nikko adventures!
