We came here for date night. We got a table facing the river which was nice. We ordered the eggplant chips for entree which was delicious. We ordered lamb shank risotto and seafood spaghetti which tasted authentic. Do save some room for dessert, the self saucing chocolate pudding was divine. Would definitely come back here again!

Came here for a random impromptu date night after a show. The atmosphere and particularly the location made it so romantic. The view from the balcony is stunning! If you're able to, ask for a balcony table because it's gorgeous, especially at night - looking out over the water and seeing Flinders Street Station lit up. The food was nice but for what we were paying, it seemed a bit overpriced, especially when a couple of the dishes we ordered were missing ingredients (e.g. my linguine marinara was supposed to have chilli but there wasn't any, and we ordered a side of broccolini but it never came out). The service was OK - the girls were very nice but it was apparent they were a bit inexperienced and didn't feel particularly comfortable in their roles, and the male staff were quite apathetic and abrupt (borderline rude). Ultimately, I guess I would come here again but for a light lunch, just to enjoy the views.

Warm, easy and friendly service. A relaxed, tidy and comfortable venue perfect place for a meal with a view of the yarra river, close to the melbourne cbd and attractions, good sample of More than decent italian food melbourne was and is still associated with. Pricing is reasonable for the Southgate precinct. It continues to impress guests (with kids from interstate). The gnocchi was pillowy, the mushroom risotto not undercooked and full of shroomy goodness. the calamari dish was generous. The rucolla salad could be improved with being a little less tart and using fresh sliced pears instead. this one of the few restaurants at southgate that has withstood the decades! i wish it the best and hope it stays with melbourne for decades to come. ps delicious gelatos here too.

Lovely restaurant with great date night atmosphere. On the last Tuesday of every month they host an experimental dining experience called Test Kitchen Tuesday’s which includes 4 courses for $40 - amazing value for menu, the dishes were inventive and my favourite has to be the dessert - a modern take on apple pie, Torta Di Mele

Arrived at set time to pick up food. Was told it would be ready in 2 minutes. It arrived over 15 minutes later with no apologies. Bruschetta was two pieces of bread with cream cheese with some cut up tomatoes which my 9 year old son could have made. The insalata was tasteless with barely any dressing. Will not be returning.

Delicious food… highly recommend the mushroom pizza. Amazing staff and such a great wine selection. Thank you for having us 🍷 🍕 🍝

Google
Spring weekend lunch - wanted a place with a view & ideal for work & leisure !!! Good food but very slow grumpy girls at work - smiling back to customers is not their thing😄!! Dined inside then ordered my drinks from the courtyard/ balcony. Enjoyed my peace and quiet as customers would come and just walk away. Besides the waiters being aloof, a little TLC would work magic to improve the ambiance. Ideally a very good spot if only........ lots need to go in to make it popular again!! Anywho, I needed to smash-up some work backlog and the quietness in this place worked in my favor 🙌

Google
5 stars for my recent visit during the week in which this restaurant had a vegan menu available. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. The risotto, which I was able to pair with a vegan wine, and the tiramisu, were extremely good. Fantastic to see a progressive step towards having a vegan menu, and hope to see it become permanent.

Yelp
A wonderful experience!! The venue overlooking busy Southbank and the Yarra River is a great place to watch the world go by!! My friend had the lunch special of the day - a delicious beetroot risotto- the colour of which was a divine shade of pink. This was great value at $ dollars which included a glass of wine! I selected from the starters. The carrot arancini came looking spectacular , in the shape of s carrot with its own carrot greenery and sitting in a bed of creamy mashed carrot. My other choice was watermelon wrapped squares wrapped in prosciutto. The presentation was divine looking almost too good to eat. The choice of wine was a Seville Rose from the Yarra Valley which was the perfect accompaniment to our lunchtime food choices. Attentive staff were friendly and the service provided was excellent. Can thoroughly recommend this venue.

Yelp
Tutto Bene which means okay is more than an okay restaurant. Located on level one of Southgate Shopping Complex, it is situated facing the Yarra River. Hence, you can bask in the sun when seated outdoors or sit inside to escape the winds of Melbourne. They offer a $40 set menu which includes two course (starter and plat principal) and a glass of wine (red or white) or a coffee. My friend got the two-course menu while I decided to go for squid ink calamari risotto. We were provided with complimentary delicious sourdough bread with olive oil and olives. Staff are friendly but slow. Though our drinks came out quickly - my coffee was very bitter and strong but acidic tasting, our food took forever to come out - and it was a lunchtime and the restaurant was only one-third full. The stuffed calamari with risotto looked like a polish dumpling with a fresh basil flavour and was quite salty. The potato gnocchi had a beautiful rosemary flavour, a subtle sweetness, and the truffle and mushrooms only added to the flavour. However, the winner was the calamari risotto - just the right amount of kick to it with freshly chopped chilli and chilli oil, beautifully separated risotto rice (not the mushy rice you get in some restaurants) and small bits of calamari. It could definitely do with more calamari which was barely there. The food was well salted and flavoured. Portion sizes are small compared to most pasta places so best to get a starter if you're very hungry. Would definitely come back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Wonderful place.. amazing italian food.. We opted for the set menu as we were too many.. everything was too good .. Meatballs were to die for.. charcoal grilled chicken was fantastic. The price is a bit more but thats what you pay for good location and good food. Definitely reccommend.

Yelp
Great happy hour from 3:30 to 5:30! We shared the carrots, arugula or rocket salad and the amazing risotto comprised of saffron and braised beef. Shiraz on HH menu was really good too.

Yelp
Being our first time to Melbourne I must admit I was overwhelmed with the endless options of restaurants . After a long flight from California I felt a bit of pressure to make sure every restaurant I chose did not disappoint and this restaurant was on point. I would describe the food as Italian with a modern Australian twist. The staff was helpful and professional, it seemed like a third were Italian so that made the dinning experience more memorable. The view at night from the second floor balcony overlooking the Yarra river and the Melbourne skyline is breathtaking. Oh yeah about the food... It was excellent, the fish of the day was cooked perfectly and the tomato based sauce had an intriguing spice to it. My only complaint is that the portions were a bit small, except for the fish. I couldn't help but notice everyone around us seemed to be in a bliss enjoying their dinning experience which gave me further confirmation that I had made the right choice.

Yelp
Very impressive Italian restaurant. They were very accommodating for us going to a show and served accordingly. Great Italian music playing in the background. I felt like I was back in Italy. Got the pulled beef with Gorgonzola and the lobster spaghetti. Amazing flavors but pricey.

John W.

Yelp
A nice restaurant with nice food but when they have a near empty restaurant and they still seat you outside in a very noisy area next to the bar next door, you know you're not coming back anytime soon. And then blame it on the accountants who booked the bar. No consideration for their own customers. Food not bad - chicken liver pate, chicken ragu and pumping risotto. Chianti was probably the best part of the evening.

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's, and sat down to a set menu. Staff was very friendly, it's a tiny restaurant, but our waitress made sure we were happy with everything. The food was delish, Anatra arrosto (duck breast) and Agnello (lamb rump), and filled us up so we only took a gander at the selection of gelato they have available. My only complaint was the time it took to get our main, it felt like we were sitting for ages, and even while enjoying good company and conversation, you notice the time tick away as you wait for your food to come. Other than that, it was a nice restaurant to visit.

Jasper C.

Yelp
Not bad at all. I had the duck for the mains and it was roasted crisp, perhaps a bit dry but nice nonetheless with the jus. The tossed cos lettuce that is freely provided is a bit of a joke though as you get 3 mini lettuce leaves which you would down in a heartbeat. Recommend ordering a side salad as this would not suffice for any form of sufficient fibre with your meal. The triple cooked potatoes - not sure how the other reviewer said there was no taste - but it actually was too salty for me. Lots of grated parmesan and pepper evenly mixed in the potatoes. The portion size is also quite fair IMO. The panna cotta however, was excellent. Smooth, light, melts in your mouth with a light coconut flavour. The berries and mint cut the sweetness just right.

Yelp
We had dinner here recently. A hidden Italian treasure! The best risotto I've ever had, with a stunning wine (recommended by our waitress) to match. The entrees and a simple fresh Cos salad were perfect. Loved it. The staff were really friendly and helpful too. We sat outside to enjoy the view, and the restaurant is upstairs away from the passing crowd. Definitely worth returning to!

Yelp
This must be on anyones list of must visit restaurants if your looking for the most amazing italian meal on a truly icon location in Melbourne. Last week I had the pleasure of dinning here for a long lunch. I can only summaries the experience by little categories so to ensure you get the most of my review Location: Right in the heart of Southbank, second floor, does it get much better! View: Absolutely amazing, we had the prefect table for two looking across the river with the Melbourne CBD backdrop in all its glory. I thought maybe we just got lucky, but having walked into the restaurant and along the outside dining balcony throughout the afternoon, I don't think any table would be without a truly magnificent view. Food: Incredible. No real better Italian in my opinion in Southbank. Entree: Aged Prosciutto Plate - Some of the best i have ever tasted, and as a lover I have eaten many over the years. Served with breadsticks, hard cheese, my only complaint, it was a shame it ended - Great size serving though Olives - Stuffed and deep fried, a taste explosion every time you put one in your mouth, again good serving size Main: Veal - Two perfect cutlets, cooked to perfection, with fresh tomatoes and soft cheese. It was a special that day, but if you see it on the menu, do not hesitate to order it, I would! Pasta - Perfect, you know when pasta just works, there is nothing better, these guys know and respect the pasta they serve. Atmosphere: Like your sitting in a small restaurant in Italy, made authentic from the passionate italian staff who wait on you like your some millionaire. Service: Spot on, nothing is too hard, fine attention to detail, and very friendly, they really love what they do, and they love the restaurant and its customers, nothing short of perfect. Take home: They use their own oil for bread, cooking and its that good you can buy yourself a bottle on the way out, great idea, if your into fresh oil, buy one, my only regret is I did not buy too Overall, be it a business lunch, romantic lunch or dinner, this is the place to eat. I am not a fan of visiting restaurants on my own, I travel allot with work and hide in the hotel with all the other one leg travellers, but i would be seen eating here alone for sure. Super impressed, and will visit time and time again at any opportunity I can get. Thanks Tutto Bene

Yelp
Tutto Bene is a beautiful little Italian restauarant with stunning views over the Yarra river, Flinders st Station and the gorgeous Melbourne CBD skyline. Its a traditional Italian eatery, that serves delicious bowls of pasta, risotto and other hearty fare. To be honest, I cant really pronounce anything on the menu, but my waiter was very helpful in describing alot of the dishes to me. The risotto I chose, the Anatra, funghi e salvia ( which translates to braised duck, porcini mushroom and sage, according to the menu) was delicious. The flavours were rich, and the light sauce was very tasty. Tutto Bene also has an attached gelateria with amazing ice creams and sorbets. The gelato is available as a dessert within the restaurant, as well as from a seperate counter available from outside the restaurant. This is serious ice cream. It is award winning icecream, with seasonal flavours like pear, grape, and chestnut. My personal favourite? The tiramasu!!

Yelp
Location - Convenient being on southbank View - Spectacular. Look at the yarra, litup Melbourne skyline while having your dinner Food - To die for. It was recommended to me as one of the best risotto place in Melbourne and I couldn't find anything to contest it. Service - Awesome. Love the staff. Love the fact that they served us Gelato even though they were closing as we took our own time finishing up the dinner. Major selling point for me - Gelato. I think they need to have a face-off with 7apples. One of the places where I would go again and again.

Yelp
Good Italian restaurants in Melbourne: Tutto Bene can claim they are part of this choice group according to me! I had a delicious risotto laced with crab and such amazing flavor! The appetizers were fresh and delicious --- the chat potatoes are to die for!! The size of the order was large so I wanted to take some home --- nope, no takeaway containers --- hmmm. Service was lacking as well and with improvements, this establishment will be vying for the five star designation.

Yelp
I have not been inside this restaurant but I have been just out the front of it where they have an adjoining Italian Gelataria. They have here the best gelato that I have had in the southern hemisphere. The flavours are always changing so it would not be fair of me to recommend a flavour as it might not be there when you arrive. This aside every flavour that you chose will have you making noises of satisfaction that you did not even know you could make. Something else that I love about Tutto Bene is the location, set just one level about Southbank you have a stunning view of Melbourne that most people would not stop and look at.

Yelp
Heard so much about this place "specialising" in risotto and many great reviews as well. So we drove all the way into the cbd and excited about what I'm going to get. Very nice location at the river bank, over looking the river and city lights. I love the decor as well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We very quickly decided on our meal- all recommended by their staff. Excitement very quickly turn into disappointment. Risotto: very small potion, seriously small with no decoration on it. Just a very big plate with small potion of risotto in the middle. Let's taste it anyway. Um... Excuse me, I think it's under cooked. Crunchy rice and I couldn't find my crab meat. Flavour was average too. Man, I can make better risotto than this. I returned the dish to be re-fried, staff were very friendly and tried to explain to me it's the rice they use. Thanks but no thank you, I just want a nice cooked risotto. Also, I'm not a big fan of their popular triple cooked potato either, it was either dry and soft or very dry and crunchy and lack of flavour too, can you sprinkle just a little bit more salt on it would be nice. Let down. Not going back there again.

Yelp
Had a really delicious and quick pre theatre meal here one Saturday night. Ordered off the cheaper pre theatre menu, but service, food and extras were fantastic. Got bread and olives pre meal and no problem when we requested extra bread. Service was friendly and one of the best risotto and gnocchi dishes we have ever had. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very disappointing return to one of our former favourite restaurants. The food was extremely ordinary. A sad fall from the previous heights. And the waitress topped it off with "youse finished" - bogan service and suburban quality food. A humbling fall.

Amy D.

Yelp
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! Particularly enjoyed the white chocolate semifreddo with raspberries for dessert. Yummo!

Sally H.

Yelp
Fabulous meal and great service. The salad, spaghettini and lemon tart were all fabulous, as was my husband's meal of zucchini blossoms, eggplant chips and tiramisu. We were seated by a window and so could look out at the Yarrow river. The servers were attentive and made great suggestions. Would definitely return.

Vivek B.

Yelp
We were very happy. Lunch menu with 2 courses, wine and coffee or tea for 40$ made us smile when we got the first course (pumpkin ravioli with shaved parmesan and sliced toasted almond sauce) that was delicious. Second courses were solid too (gnocchi and scallop risotto) but not as spectacular. Great deal!

Feren Y.

Yelp
Quick friendly service. One of the few places I have tasted al dente pasta!!!

Liao L.

Yelp
Although pricy, Food is fantastic, I'm rating 3 stars because of the poor and ridiculously slow service. Beer was hot, which to me is unacceptable.

Natalie R.

Yelp
Arrived at 9pm on a Friday night and was advised that only pasta and risotto were available. On reviewing the menu I discovered only three pasta dishes were listed, then on ordering discovered that at least one of the three were sold out. Was very disappointed that I found myself in an Italian restaurant with only two pasta dishes available. The meals were small, served cold and over priced for serving size and staff failed to clear entrée dishes until well after mains were finished. The only redeeming aspect on the meal, was that it was served promptly. Beyond that all I shall say is that I will not be dining at this establishment again.
