Tuwuh Hotel at Kayutangan

Hotel Montana Malang surprised me for my thesis retreat. While it's not the most modern, the Javanese decor with wayang puppets offered a calming, cultural escape from the usual sterile hotels, perfect for sparking creativity. The quiet location and clean, older room kept me focused, and the budget-friendly price was ideal for a student. It may lack fancy amenities, and there could be minor noise from older fixtures, but for a focused and culturally-charged thesis retreat, Hotel Montana was a hidden gem. Just be prepared for basic amenities and potential noise.

Very old hotel in a decent location. Not particularly clean, AC not cold but good enough for short stays. No hot showers. You can also get a late check out up to 6pm for 50% room rate.

Very old hotel i think. General cleanliness needs to be improved. For the room, I had issue with the toilet (unable to fill the water fast enough), but having bath tub was nice for 275k budget (lowest price room). Breakfast was.....kinda disappointing since it wasnt buffet, but the taste was acceptable (though also comparable with food stall that is 20k idr prices) Would come again if the staff are better on servicing people (one of the engineer/housekeeper was a bit not polite)

The hotel is excellent! Although it is an old style hotel, don't expect anything fancy and new. You can't not love the location. Super close to the city center and train station. The staff is friendly and the room is clean. The rate is super affordable given the service and its location. Really recommended.

Kindly check the reviews before you make reservation. Most of the photos regarding the hotel are old. The reviews from the past will speak the truths.However, the kitchen and restaurant teams serve well, this is what impressed me a lot and would like to thank them. So, if you choose to book this hotel, be well prepared to stay as well as eat like a local.

Location and Building:||the location of this hotel is superb, because it is very close to Alun-alun Tugu Malang and Malang Train Station. Although locate in the side of main road, it doesn't give much noise to the hotel. Hotel building have Javanese touches and parking space is limited. There's a restaurant/coffee shop for the guests. Cleanliness of the hotel is good and the feel of this hotel is old-fashioned.||||Check in and room:||Check in time is 14.00, but when I arrived at 11.00 they accepted my check in.||I got the room on 1st floor and there's a small garden in front of my room. Room cleanliness is OK, but still some stains discovered on the linen. Room facilities is standard. TV and AC works well.View of my room is another small garden. Room still using conventional key and no electric saving device for this room.||||Bathroom:||Bathroom is pretty clean, although it clearly showed the bathroom very old fashioned. Amenities give is standard such as soap, bath foam, dental kit, shower cap etc.. There's bathtub and shower in the bathroom. Water pressure is OK. At first the hot water works well, but when I try to take shower at 1 AM the hot water does not working.||||Service:||Service was really good. The staff are friendly enough and helpful.

Good furniture although stain shower curtain, very good oldy ambience. Took it a whole night sleep without pill . The waterfall calming me so well. I did not have atry on breakfast, when im back i will for sure, not the good time to be together with bunch of group kids school cjeck in
