"Tweed-New Haven Airport is a small facility in Connecticut with a single TSA agent, one snack bar, and a small boarding area. The airport has a single jet bridge and plans for a new terminal in the future. It is the base for Avelo Airlines' operations on the east coast, with plans to have 100 crew and employees by the end of the year. The airport's small size contributes to a smooth and on-time flight experience."

3 stars for affordability and direct flights, but you get what you pay for. There are way too many people coming in and out for the size of this airport. One lane to pass through the whole airport. It's so crowded inside, there are a bunch of people standing and sitting on the floor. You can't hear the flights being announced. It used to not be like this but has grown uncomfortably over the last couple of years. Flights also are often delayed or moved to different days of the week if you book them too far in advance.

Google
Absolute NIGHTMARE. Pure chaos and significant disorganization. Honestly too much to even type the amount of issues. Rude staff, way over crowded, very disorganized. Flight ended up being delayed over 5 hours. I have never seen such a structureless airport. I’d give 0 starts if I could. Worst airport I’ve ever traveled through, hands down! 10/10 would NOT recommend. Save yourself the trouble and fly out of ANYWHERE else .

It is good to have multiple airport in single state but before plan flight parking lot they should arrange waiting area. They have only 2 security window and 4 luggage check-in cabin beside small container to just add tag. Connecticut is the way more costly & more inconvenient for everyone. It’s better to avoid job/business/visit to CT. Also one more thing they don’t allow uber to enter to airport! Trick: go out by walk from airport by own risk. I feel like landed in another poor country! The New York/ New Jersey lot better as compared to they taxing.

This is one of the worst planned airports I have ever been to. First Avelo airline is truly what you pay for. No frills. It’s like sitting in a cargo plane. Mind as well save your money and don’t hire flight attendants that don’t do anything. The terminals are very chaotic. The TSA agents are one of the rudest most unhappy people I have encountered. We also had a show when the police apprehended a person and he kept yelling “no drugs!” and “your hurting me!” then falling on the floor. Avelo plane was late. Actually both flights were always delayed. Boarding the plane here in New Haven is like a makeshift scaffolding platform in the rain. Also Avelo airlines has ways to circumvent the late penalties from the FAA. Late boarding and now they have closed the doors and pushed a little bit away from the scaffolding terminal. Now we have been waiting at the gate for the past 45 minutes. But they circumvented the late fee by pushing back and closing the doors. Remember people you get what you pay for and I have learned my lesson. Sorry to me and my travel companions. I wish I can give this airline no stars!!!!

Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) is a hidden gem in the world of regional air travel. Located just minutes from downtown New so catering to the modern traveler with its convenience and affordability. One of Tweed’s standout features is its accessibility. For residents of New Haven and the surrounding areas, the airport is a short drive away, eliminating the need to trek to larger hubs like Bradley International or the airports in New York City. The ease of parking and quick check-in process further enhances its appeal. Unlike sprawling international airports, Tweed allows you to arrive without the stress of navigating labyrinthine terminals or worrying about long security lines. From curb to gate, the process is seamless and efficient, often taking less than 30 minutes. The flights offered by Avelo Airlines are a major draw for Tweed. Avelo has positioned itself as a budget-friendly carrier, providing nonstop service to popular destinations such as Florida, the Carolinas, and beyond. The affordability of these flights is hard to beat, and the simplicity of Avelo’s booking process and no-frills service is ideal for travelers who value convenience and cost-effectiveness. For families, students, or anyone looking to escape the Northeast on a whim, Tweed and Avelo make it possible to get away without breaking the bank. What truly sets Tweed apart, however, is the nostalgic charm of the airport itself. The terminal, which harkens back to a bygone era of air travel, is small, unpretentious, and full of character. There are no sprawling duty-free shops or endless dining options; instead, you’ll find a cozy, welcoming environment that feels more like a local train station than a modern airport. This simplicity is refreshing, especially in an age when air travel often feels overwhelming and impersonal. The experience of boarding a plane at Tweed is equally delightful. Instead of walking through jet bridges, passengers descend directly onto the tarmac and climb jet stairs to board the aircraft. This old-school method of boarding evokes memories of a time when air travel was an exciting adventure, and it adds a touch of nostalgia to every trip. For those who have grown weary of the sterile, cookie-cutter experience of larger airports, this small detail is a pleasant reminder of how air travel used to feel. In sum, Tweed New Haven Airport offers a travel experience that is both practical and endearing. It combines modern-day convenience with the romantic charm of mid-20th-century aviation, all while providing affordable access to popular destinations. For those in the New Haven area, Tweed is more than just an airport—it’s a gateway to adventure, wrapped in nostalgia and simplicity. Whether you’re a frequent flyer or an occasional traveler, a trip through Tweed is sure to leave you with a smile and perhaps a bit of longing for the golden age of air travel.

Google
Small local airport with very inexpensive flights now serviced by Avelo & Breeze Airlines. Traffic/parking can be heavy during holidays and school vacations. Very convenient, much better than flying out of Hartford or New York. They have planned a new terminal which is badly needed.

Google
This airport is the biggest joke. First we parked in $35 a day parking, (the $19 was not paved and was to far to walk with luggage in the snow when not plowed. Then we stood outside in line for over 30 mins in the snow and cold, no cover at all just to get a luggage label then we walked outside and back in another door to stand in line again to tsa. Signage is terrible. Then we had to stand because there are only (I am guessing) 50 seats and there were 5 flights cueing up to leave. The speaker system was so bad we never could tell anything that was being said. Then the pic was the line going up the entrance ramp coming in where we had to try to figure out who was in what line to get on what plane. We went up stairs and looked outside where I took a picture of the plane. That was the only way to know our plane was boarding because we saw people getting on it. We then had to get thru that ramp of people What a joke. We will not be using this airport again

I've flown out of Tweed Airport twice in the last two years and both times it has been favorable. I have flown HVN to PBI with Avelo. Prior to Avelo coming to Tweed, when I needed to fly somewhere, it would either be West Chester (if I was lucky) or Laguardia. LGA is an hour+ away and is a major airport. There's traffic on the way to that airport. West Chester is small and Tweed is even smaller. There is something quaint to the fact that you walk out onto the tarmac to get into your plane! There's no mechanical chute thing that you walk through to get into the plane - you climb the stairs or an elaborate ramp thing! Some of these reviews are people saying that Avelo was late and because of that, they dislike Tweed. Sure, planes might be late every once in a while, but Tweed is always going to give you a different experience from the giant airports. I park in Lot C, the cheap lot, and take the shuttle to the airport. If there's no shuttle, its like a 5 min walk. You go through security and then you wait. There are some seats, but its not a very large airport, so you might not get a seat. There's a cafe area, there's restrooms, but between parking your car and getting through security, its not going to take more than 20-30 minutes (at least in my experience). Overall, I recommend Tweed. Its a shorter commute to Tweed than LGA or West Chester or Bradley. Its quaint and small and the flights with Avelo are cheap. Frankly, the only downside I've seen, is that in the baggage claim area, there is a single restroom. But the building was clearly not designed for the occupancy it has now, so I'd advice being patient or using the bathroom on the plane.

Yelp
Probably the smallest airport I had ever been too, but not terrible if you're flying out with Avelo. Used Tweed back in February when I used Avelo for a trip to Miami. The overall airport was small with two security lines and small baggage checkpoint. Security was super fast, and only took a few second to get through. The waiting area was very small, which forced a lot of people to stand up while waiting for the plane to dock. More seating would've made it more enjoyable. Coming home was nice, although you had to walk off the plane across the tarmac to get inside, which wasn't pleasant in the 10 degree weather. The Avelo staff were alright, some were rude to other customers but that's an issue with the airline rather than the airport. Will fly out of this location with Avelo for cheap flights, but otherwise will most likely go to Bradley or Logan for other flights if possible.

Yelp
This airport is too small to be running this many flights and two airlines out of it. I got here at 4:30am today for a 7:30am flight. In any other airport this would be an acceptable amount of time to arrive. The check in desk can't handle the capacity and the TSA line backs up into the parking lot. There is not enough parking. The baggage claim takes forever. I was excited when Avelo Started running flights out of here because it was convenient but they are growing things here too fast too soon. Most flights are delayed or backed up or cancelled. I've met and known many people who have missed their flights because they couldn't get through the TSA line and they had gotten here early enough. The runway is short which makes for a rough landing and takeoff. The staff here is also seemingly overworked/overwhelmed and you can tell because some can be rude. Which I feel for them because they are working very hard to make all this work as best they can. I know they are working on getting an expansion done but right now I might just go back to flying out to Hartford to avoid the headache.

Yvonne H.

Yelp
This is a very small airport in need of major expansion and updating. There is only one terminal with 3 gates. There are 2 security lines. One baggage claim area. This is my first time here, flying through Avelo an ultra low cost airline for the first time. The airport building is small. There doesn't seem to be enough seating for all the gates and travelers. There is a cafe bakery and a full bar for drinks. That's it. There are no shops or souvenir stores. Nowhere to buy full meals. I'd fly through here again only if I get a great flight deal. There was too much left to be desired.

Cindy G.

Yelp
Tiny airport with a crowded inside space. A cold winter day would be challenging. You enter and exit the planes on the tarmac, but it is very organized and easy. Lines can be long for the rental car area. Parking at the airport is $25 a day and outdoors. There is a small café with a variety of food, including croissants, sandwiches, and quiches. A very easy airport to navigate since it's so small unless a few planes come in at the same time. Gate changes happen quickly, so just be alert.

Alex A.

Yelp
Totally wild to me to see anyone giving this 4 or 5 stars, because to me it simply doesn't perform many of the basic functions of an airport. And yet, even with that, it stays popular because it gets people where they need to go at a reasonable price. That's why I fly out of Tweed! But I won't pretend it's good. Pros: - small - has a cafe that is apparently decent Cons: - security lines run long (including for pre-check) - very limited seating areas - no shops of any kind, not even for snacks - boarding is confusing in the absence of a jet bridge and since they board planes from two points - no Uber! - limited public transit Don't expect anything nice, because there is nothing nice to be found. Once they complete an expansion and build a new terminal it'll be solid. Let's hope the NIMBY neighbors nearby with signs against expanding Tweed don't win out!

Tina G.

Yelp
This airport was great until they started adding more flights than they can accommodate. Delays are becoming more common. Traffic for picking up arrivals is pretty bad. Lines go out of the parking lot. Currently, they only have 3 gates/stair cases to board or disembark. There are 5 planes here and we are stuck on the runway because there are not enough gates to get us off of the plane. So far, we have been sitting for an hour and they cannot tell us how much longer. It's now past midnight. If you parked your car in their lot, now you owe another day of parking.

Shanina S.

Yelp
Tweed Airport is a small airport and the airline provided there is Avelo Airlines. Avelo Airlines provides nonstop service from Tweed-New Haven Airport to seventeen destinations on the east coast. Tweed is a small airport with a cafe area that serves breakfast sandwiches, donuts, coffee, and other handheld snacks. The area is small so it can become packed depending on the flight schedule but it beats the busyness of New York Airports. It's very easy because the airport has one terminal so it's easy and convenient to find you're flight terminal. Tweed Airport is only about twenty minutes from my home and I took an Lyft from my house to the airport to avoid parking fees. My friend advised me to take a Lyft because the parking lot is sometimes full so I decided to just take a Lyft to avoid not having a parking space. Parking is twenty nine dollars a day and they also have a parking lot space that offers eighteen dollars a day but my friend also told me that parking space is always full. My advice is if you live near the airport I would just take a driving service or you can reserve a parking space online.

Steve B.

Yelp
This airport cannot even be described as third world- it's 8th world or worse. Disgusting is a compliment to describe this sad excuse for an airport! Avoid this catastrophe at all costs. It's worth paying $500 more to go out of Bradley or the NY airports.

Lea F.

Yelp
Small airport and gets pretty cramped when waiting to board. I came here for like 6am so it wasn't any trouble getting through security. Parking seemed too complicated for me so I just took a lyft to the airport.

Rob W.

Yelp
I recently flew out of Tweed-New Haven Airport for the first time and had an altogether pleasant experience. Which sounds like faint praise. But as I am not a huge fan of the stress of flying, it is actually a high compliment. One important note: because the airport is small and in a residential area, parking is VERY limited. This means it is both expensive and hard to find a spot. Plan accordingly. I would recommend taking an Uber or getting a ride from friends/family to cut down on agita. That said, once you are there, everything could not be smoother. I checked in manually before entering the terminal. The Avelo staff member was quite helpful, printing me my boarding pass and luggage claim ticket. Then I took my luggage into the terminal to drop it off. As there are only a few flights a day, getting through security could not be any easier: you simply don't have that many other people to deal with. There is a TSA Pre-check line which makes things even more of a breeze. Once you through security, you head into the. terminal. When I was there, there were only two gates open. Just like parking, seating is rather limited. If you find a seat, grab it! Initially, I had to stand briefly, but as soon as the flight before mine left, I had no problem finding a seat. There is a fun little bakery which is the only food option. I wasn't expecting much from airport food, but the chocolate croissant was surprisingly delicious. The cafe au lait was on point as well. Turns out, it is actually a satellite of a New Haven bakery shop. Definitely a recommend. Lastly, be aware that getting on the planes is old school--the gate does not directly to the plane. You need to walk outside to the plane and then ascend stairs. Just keep that in mind if the weather is sub-optimum and plan accordingly.o

Yelp
First flight out of Tweed since the 1980's. First off, Breeze airlines was great. Good communication, nice and comfortable plane and pleasant crew. Now for airport, too small for the amount of flights they have going out. Counted 8 flights scheduled between 7a and 8:30a, many delays, because of backups, inadequate equipment (example de-icing truck, which was broke and stranded us for 2 plus hours on plane), lines out the door, lack of seating, ridiculous backup at pick up location....and more. You will missed your flight if you are not a planner (parking, baggage, ticketing, etc), TSA pre-check is helpful. Many improvements needed, cheaper is not always better.

Grace C.

Yelp
Rudest security ever. All of them were angry and yelling and they're weren't even that many people. I can't imagine how they would act in an airport that actually is big and gets busy. Specially the blonde woman working at 6:30 in the security line was extremely rude to everyone. First an older man handed her his half empty soda and she snaps at him and says "I am not a trash can" then she asks me to take my sweatshirt off and I tell her I'm not wearing anything under it and she condescendingly goes "interesting choice" She is definitely a very insecure and angry person but to speak to people in such a derogatory tone when they're just trying to go through security is wild. Not one person had an attitude with her and everyone was very complaint even when she was extremely rude. Hopefully she finds a job where she doesn't have to interact with people because clearly she is miserable and it shows. Other than that the airport is nice and clean.

Michael S.

Yelp
Very disorganized process. People late for their flight were getting priority even over the tsa pre check passengers. Walking to your airplane in the rain is never fun, nor is getting your feet wet in big puddles on that walk. Bathroom had two stalls for the whole place and guess what? One of them was out of order. Long lines, hectic process, I'll stick with Bradley next time.

Vicki M.

Yelp
This airport is so convenient when flying in and out of the New Haven area. I flew Avelo and the direct flight from Ft Lauderdale was seamless and very inexpensive. It is a very small regional airport located practically in the middle of a neighborhood. The neighbors are against runway expansion as noted by signs in all the front yards. The baggage claim is very small and there was a lot of congestion when bags came out. The check in process is actually in a trailer type structure and you carry your bags to the adjacent building to drop off. The waiting area at the gate was also congested, there were 2 flights going to Florida within minutes of each other so it was very busy. The planes and flights were as expected and I would not hesitate to fly into Tweed again.

Jenna G.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience every single time. The airport staff is unwilling to help, security line wraps around the building and even goes outside. This is a classless airport inside and out and it's clear the people in charge have no idea how to help things run more smoothly.

Naina M.

Yelp
Very bare bones and not well organized at all. Going through major growing pains. Do not use this airport at busy times. Had to stand out in freezing rain for 30 mins to check bags in. Then flight delayed so had to stand in unheated breezeway for 6+ hours as airport was at capacity due to other flight delays. Amateur operation.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Worst airport experience. Arrived 2 hours early for a domestic flight and still missed it . Had elderly standing outside in the winter in CT for an hour. Place is a joke. Avoid it at all cost. It's not worth saving the drive or the money to go into a real airport.

W K.

Yelp
Tweed and Avelo Airlines used to be acceptable based on location and price, but no more (at least during peak travel). Tweed has added an additional airline and there are more flights going out of Tweed, which sounds great, but they are not equipped to handle the volume. After your bags are weighed at most airports, you won't see them again until you arrive at your destination. Once you've weighed your checked bag at Tweed you'll get in a long line, including outdoor time, before you push your luggage through a hole in the wall, then you will get to have your boarding pass checked and move on to security. Several people missed multiple flights yesterday because they were "late". The ones who didn't have their luggage boarded on the plane were the lucky ones. I'm not sure how our luggage could be on time for a flight while we were late, but I hope it enjoys time in Florida- unlike us.

Haylee O.

Yelp
The WORST TSA experience I've ever had. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time and were instructed to stand in the checked luggage line. We did not have checked luggage, but there was no signage that said otherwise and it was our first time here. Not to mention staff directed us to stand in the line. After 30 mins we made it to the desk and she advised us we didn't have to stand in line and that we needed to go to the TSA line. The line was wrapped around the building and was approximately 2 plus hours long. THANKFULLY an angel let us ahead of her in the line and we were severely scolded by a staff. The woman was not a TSA employee and appeared to work for TWEED. She yelled at us and then proceeded to yell at grown men asking if she needed to "babysit them". We were not asking for special privileges, rather just some professionalism. It turned out that over 15 passengers were in the same boat as we were, and we grouped together. Even the New Haven police officer tried to help us and the agents/staff told him absolutely not. We made our flight by having very nice passengers who understood our dilemma. Avelo staff was not the issue here, the airport staff was. Sadly for Avelo we will not be using this airport again, and even worse the other 15 plus passengers appeared be deterred from the business as well due to this experience. Furthermore, we were due to leave at 630am and were stuck on the tarmac for an HOUR. All of the stress and rudeness for us to be sitting for an hour.....

Lana B.

Yelp
This is a small, local airport. Only 4 gates. There are 3 parking lots. Parking lot C is the farthest away from the airport. It is a short walk to the terminal; however, they do offer a shuttle. The shuttle was running at 530am. The airport has a small on-site cafe, G Cafe Bakery. They were open at 530am too.

Timothy A.

Yelp
Small and simple airport. Plane's fly in and out, drop people off and pick people up. Not many bells and whistles, which is fine. Getting to I95 and I91 is easy from this airport. Facilities were clean. Food was your typical airport food. Check-in is in a side building before you go into the main building, and then you drop off your bag in the main building after getting a sticker printed out for it. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is for the parking situation. There isn't much of it, and during peak drop off and pick up times, there isn't a lot of room to move around to get in and out near the loading and unloading zones. Otherwise, would fly in here again and again.

Liz B.

Yelp
The absolute WORST travel experience IN MY LIFE. 12/28/24 - I had to wait in line OUTSIDE IN THE DARK AND COLD RAIN for over one hour just to "check" my bag. After "checking" my bag, I was told to "go to the building next door" to drop it off. Went next door to drop it off and was told to hold onto it and to go to the end of the next LONG line. The next line took ANOTHER hour (lugging my "checked" bag and carry on. Waited ANOTHER 20 minutes outside in the dark, in the cold rain. Finally got inside and waited another 40 minutes until I hopped the line to catch the plane I almost missed. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Do not recommend. Save yourself the hassle and go to Bradley instead! It's an ACTUAL AIRPORT!! I felt terrible for elderly people and ones traveling with children! If I could ZERO stars, I would! That being said, the employees were exceptional and tried doing the best with the absolute shit show they work at.

Tim S.

Yelp
A no- frills airport. Ample parking. Terminal small but updated. Gate areas a bit crowded. Main complaint is with Avelo. Was supposed to depart at 3:00. Actually departed at 6:30. Terrible performance.

Mike M.

Yelp
3.5 stars New haven terminal was very easy in and easy out. Easy to check luggage at both airports and easy to retrieve. Very orderly passenger pick up at the New Haven airport. Myrtle beach Avelo terminal was a lot of confusion. Flight left at 7:15 pm on 6/22/23 and were told we couldn't check luggage until 5:00 pm. Then later told it was 2 hours prior to take off by a American Airlines employee who was correct. An Avelo employee was arguing with an American airlines employee at the Myrtle beach airport check in. When we were boarding our flight in Myrtle beach, the announcer called for group 1, then within 10 seconds called for 1 and 2. Then within another 10 seconds called for group 1, 2, and 3. Another Avelo employee came over and scolded her in front of everyone for not calling for group 1 first and letting them board first. The landing in Myrtle beach and New Haven was very hard. Also be careful when booking...LOTS of add Ons. Luggage and seat selection will add a lot to your price. If your suitcase is over 50lbs, they charge $100 extra. If you ever have to CALL customer service at Avelo, good luck. Practically nonexistent. I would definitely fly out of New Haven again, but only through approx. April thru October. I would never fly out of here from November thru March. If you can pack light, like a small backpack that fits under the seat, then you won't be charged. If you let the airline pick your seat, you won't be charged extra for that either. Ways to fly cheap if savy.

Nicolas T.

Yelp
Their biggest strengths are convenient location and the 5-minute TSA line with very minimal groping. You don't get that at the mega-airports where every TSA agent acts like Harvey Weinstein. The biggest drawbacks are the crappy wifi (couldn't connect at all) and total lack of Uber. Uber is literally not allowed to pick up at this airport at all, probably as a result of some corrupt deal between Lyft and crooked local politicians. Sad that longtime Uber customers have to wait in the cold and download new apps just because some airport official's palm is getting greased. Have flown into 100+ other American airports...this is the only one I know of that totally excludes Uber.

Karen C.

Yelp
The airport was super busy but so, so easy! I hope they keep adding flights and expand the airport. It will bring business and revenue to a pretty depressed area.

Aaron E.

Yelp
Worst Airport Ever!!!!! Horrible experience!!! Staff were terrible. Such a disappointment. Took all my drinks. Almost missed my plane. Super Stressful

Jon D.

Yelp
I was really nervous about flying this airline. Tweed in New Haven is VERY small. They had plenty of staff. Everyone was pleasant. Parking, check in, security was easy. The plane took off on time without issue. The plane itself was very nice. It was an excellent experience.

Jewel C.

Yelp
Such a Convenient Airport! No long wait lines for picking up or dropping off... You're able to avoid long walks through the airport or gates or tunnels to get to wait for your flight to board. No long check-in process! Oh, parking also is not expense... Love this place!

Christopher T.

Yelp
Personally, this is one of my favorite airports for business and/or personal travel mainly due to its small size and location. However, there are some significant cons to be aware of, mainly related to unavoidable layovers. Pros: 1) Can get there in 15 minutes from downtown New Haven. 2) Can get through security and to gate in 10 minutes, max 3) Parking is $12/day in the long-term lot and is close to the airport (~100 yards to the front entrance). Short-term parking you are curbside to the airport entrance Cons: 1) No direct flights unless you're going to PHL, so you will have a layover. But PHL is pretty big (lots of food and shopping options). You can book a shorter layover in PHL - just keep in mind that HVN is pretty low on the priority list for PHL, so it is not uncommon to be delayed slightly. More importantly, if the plane gets assigned a terrible gate, then you might have to run between terminals. 2) Flight times are pretty sparse and inflexible. I'm talking like 2-3 flights a day. I usually just opt for the 6 AM flight and get to my destination early. 3) Smaller planes tend to be less stable in the air - for a first-time and/or nervous flyer, turbulence could become an issue. 4) Smaller plane, so no in-flight entertainment consoles. Neutral: 1) Probably will need to check your baggage, which they will do for free. So it's great because it frees up your hands. But not so great if you unexpectedly need something inside the baggage and/or you're in a huge hurry because you have to wait for baggage claim. 2) The flight to PHL is short, you probably won't get in-flight snacks.

Melissa R.

Yelp
Long lines, not enough seats, no food or vending machines, NO communication when problems arise, outrageous parking fees. Announcement system is very difficult to hear and understand, like in charlie Brown movies. There is a tiny "cafe" that is a huge ripoff but only after you go through security, nothing while you wait. Waited 8 hours, delay after delay, only for flight to be cancelled. Another 30 minutes to wait to get luggage back.

Dea K.

Yelp
Flew Avelo for the first time and had such an easy, quick experience here. I was nervous trying Avelo but will definitely fly here a lot more- staff was exceptionally friendly and efficient. From curb to gate only took 10 minutes.

Melissa H.

Yelp
I highly recommend utilizing this airport if you live locally. It is obviously small and they don't fly everywhere, only offering a few destinations & not flying everywhere everyday. Would like some more food options as well, I didn't see vending machines but I might've missed it. Got through security fast & obviously the flight went well. Will fly with them again!

Brian F.

Yelp
Recently flew out of here on an early morning Avelo flight to West Palm Beach. First time using this airport. Plenty of parking. Easy check-in. They have a little cafe with some simple breakfast items and coffee. Convenience wise, this is closer than Westchester or Hartford, and the prices were much cheaper than the other airlines we typically fly. The Avelo planes are a bit older so the seats are tight and there is no Wi-Fi, but I would not consider either of those a non-starter. Do your own diligence to see if this is right for you. We will consider again when traveling to Florida.

Yelp
10/19/23 New Haven to Charleston SC.....Horrible! After standing in line for over and hour with still plenty of time before our flight at 1:45pm, The agent (only one working) made an announcement that anyone flying to charleston should move up in line, then about 10 minutes later made another announcement that cargo is closed and that anyone still in line can still board the plane but without luggage as the cargo doors are now closed, leaving a larger number of passengers to fly without luggage or make other arrangements. We had to book another flight later that took us to an airport 3.5 hours away from Charleston and got charged to book a new flight as well as having to now rent a car and drive the 3.5 hours getting us to our destination after midnight. We have tried contacting Avelo only to be scammed on their twitter account and now we are still waiting to hear from an Actual Avelo rep to resolve this issue but have not had any luck.

Yelp
This Tweed New Haven Airport is one of the smallest and worst customer service Airport I have encountered. Unfortunately, for my daughter and I experiencing one of the newest airline Avelo to Orlando Florida was a horrific experience. We were delayed 14 times and a total of 19 hours as we had to stay The shuttle does not accommodate every incoming or out going flights. We were left stranded at airport trying to reach the off site location on 1 Temple Street. The shuttle drove in circles basically wasting gas for 40 minutes; while we watched him do it until 12:30. In that amount of time it would have taken him to drive us to parking lot and be back on time for the next flights. I finally got a hold of one of the airport employees who has been absolutely helpful in this horrible experience . Her name is Giselle Cortes. Thank you to her for helping us stay put together and not cry for days from anxiety levels.

Yelp
This airport isn't ready for prime time. It can't handle more than two flights at a time. Avelo is a second rate airline. Baggage claim is ridiculous. It's like something out of the 50s. Do not fly out of here unless you have at least 3 hours extra on each end of the flight.

Yelp
Early June, my family and I took our first Avelo flight. I didn't know what to expect and was a little anxious. It felt like my half of the group was behind schedule and I feared missing the plane since I had to incorporate parking, a youth, senior, luggage, and a car seat into the equation; overwhelming for a solo traveler. However I managed. The young man directing traffic for drop out was patient as I unloaded the car and put everything close to the door on that busy morning. I parked in lot C and started the trek back to the entrance because the shuttle had passed when I was going to park. I figured I'd have to wait 15-20 minutes. The young man in the parking booth assured me the shuttle was back on its way to pick me up, and it arrived shortly afterwards. Once getting through checkpoint we rushed to the gate, as the other half of the group called to say we're boarding. As I struggled with my backpack and the car seat to the plane, another young man offered to carry it for me; what a great help. Returning back home, there was the same young man helping me with the car seat into the terminal. Once inside, we had luggage that arrived a day earlier. All I did was mention it and he knew exactly what we had and brought it out immediately. While waiting, one of the young men from our departure end, came up to my mom and said, we have your id. He must have recognized her and remembered the photo a week later. I couldn't asked for any better customer service.....Raymond and Garrett, you guys are truly an asset. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing you again and again. Oh the airport! The parking lots are very close. Allow enough time if Checking luggage, as it can get congested. Once checked, you'll need to bring your bags with you to the checkin point which is the next building/side over. If you have carry on only, you go straight to checkpoint. Everything is so close. I appreciate the size of Tweed. It can get a little confusing knowing where to sit for your flight, so make sure you're paying attention to the announcements. During my second flight at the end of June, everyone going to FL were delayed. It got crowded inside. Hopefully this doesn't happen to offer. However, there were employees moving around tending to situations. As a Bridgeport resident , I love this alternative airport. Long live; Avelo and their great fares!!

Yelp
So happy with Tweed and Avelo so far. I have used them twice. Everything has been great. We waited for the shuttle in lot c for about 20 minutes then lugged our bags and walked. A bit annoying. Never saw the shuttle but otherwise everything was great.

Yelp
We arrived 2 hours early based on the recommendation on your website. Upon arriving we were told that there was no more spots available. The location of the parking garage 15 minutes away is an extreme inconvenience and there needs to be more shuttles going back-and-forth for more frequency. While waiting in line we witnessed a fight amongst two people in the park across the parking garage. During this time there was an extreme concern for safety. After waiting in the line for 25 minutes for a shuttle, we finally arrived at the airport. The checked bag line was extremely long. The customer service did not ask people that were on 7am or 7:30am flights to go first and cut the line, when they should have because the inconvenience of the parking garage incident. We witnessed many people miss their flights and we caught ours within minutes of departure. All this with no one ever apologizing for the inconvenience of parking, parking garage, long line, etc. We at first loved the idea of a small and newer airport within the state. However there is a need for expansion in more ways than one. They certainly are not ready for the volume of customers/travelers. We will never fly out of tweed airport again.

Yelp
It has its ups and downs.. the pros are that it's super small so you can literally drive right up and walk directly inside to security. Parking/dropoff is super easy. Security is right there as soon as you walk in, so nice to not have a huge, crowded airport to worry about wait times. This also has a drawback of their security being pickier than TSA at a larger airport. For instance they really scrutinize every little thing in my son's diaper bag, whereas at larger airports they always let it move right along. They also only fly to Philly. Which is fine because it's a short flight and Philly can then get you anywhere, but if you're hoping for more destinations, that's the only choice from here. I'm also pretty sure it's only American Airlines that flies out of there to Philly. The biggest negative in my opinion is that since it's just the Philly offering, the planes are super small which I absolutely hate. But it's a fine airport overall for commuting.

Yelp
Small no frill airport. Everyone was friendly. On site Parking very walkable. Flight crew very friendly. I would recommend if for a budget friendly experience. However, the one coffee spot in the airport is pricey in my opinion. Eat before you arrive.

Yelp
Located on the north side of the Q river in a residential neighborhood. About 10 minutes off I-95. Long term parking in front of the terminal is $18 per day. Lots 1 and 2 are only $15 per day and there is a shuttle bus that runs continuously. I arrived 90 minutes early and it took about 10 minutes to check my bag and go through security. Seating area is small with a cafe that has coffee and pastries. Nice alternative to big airports for direct flights to Florida.

Yelp
First time using Avelo airline and every flight here is delayed. There is sitting room for one flight at the gates and there are three flights departing the same gate ALL DELAYED. Never again. Not a restaurant in sight to eat or have a drink. SMH I'm

Yelp
I love this airport. It sounds like it was pretty awful a few years ago, but I have had nothing but good experiences in the past 6 months or so that I've been using it. AA now has flights to PHL and CLT (added 12/18). I love that it's tiny & within about 15-20 min from my house. It's worth the layover if I don't have to make that looooong 1 1/2 hour drive to BDL to get a direct flight. They don't have any food or stores, so make sure to pack a snack if you can't go 3 hours without eating. They also have a coffee machine and a vending machine. The staff there are so nice - even at 5 am! :-)

Yelp
This is by far the smallest airport I've ever been to. I landed here and was out of the airport in less than five minutes. Because it's so tiny, there's not a lot of space to sit nor food options, but I guess people probably don't stick around for long. I was also confused about not having taxis readily available, but I guess since flights aren't so often, there's no reason for taxis to sit around. In any case, the airport gets the job done, and I still can't believe how small it is!

Yelp
My first time flying out of here. Nice small airport. Very clean. TSA & airline staff are terrific. I'll fly out of here anytime I'm in the area.

Yelp
A small, single runway airport with service to [only] Philadelphia. Security takes around 10 minutes! Very clean and friendly!
