An unforgettable experience for the whole family! Tweetsie Railroad is pure magic. From the moment you hear that train whistle echo through the mountains, you’re transported. The Wild West theme is so well done, and the train ride itself is both scenic and exciting—especially with the live-action show on board! There’s something for everyone here. Our little one loved the petting zoo and the rides, and the whole place is super kid-friendly without feeling chaotic. The staff was friendly, the park was clean, and everything ran smoothly. We spent hours exploring, and honestly could’ve stayed longer. Between the charm, the mountain views, and the nostalgia, Tweetsie is worth every penny. We’ll definitely be making this a yearly tradition!

We spent 4 1/2 hours here with an eight and a 10-year-old. They had a ball. Rode the train and chairlift and almost every ride. Lines were short and the place was spotless. The workers were all welcoming and made a point to acknowledge us every chance they had. Each level had restrooms and a place to grab a bite to eat. Managing the hilly terrain in between each level was a bit taxing in the heat, but there’s also the chairlift and bus transportation you can take advantage of and plenty of benches to sit down on. It felt good to be able to access everything the kids wanted to do without long lines or rides that wouldn’t be age-appropriate, but nonetheless tempting for kids of a younger age. The selection of entertainment for each level was carefully curated. and the arrangement of the rides made it easy to keep eyes on your group. You can take water bottles into the park and there are refilling stations at each level.

We took 2 if our grandchildren to A Day Out With Thomas. They loved it! It's an amusement park. Not huge like the big parks but big enough to spend about 5-6 hours letting them ride whatever they wanted to. The employees all were very helpful and sweet. It was a fun day out!

Google
Such a fun place!! We had three kids of our own, but a group of 7 ages 2 to 10 and every kiddo had fun! There are so many rides, lots of shops and food options! We got a souvenir for everyone too. We got to ride the train with Thomas the Train also, which was super fun to experience! There's so much character in this amusement park and so much to see. There are ponchos available for sale in the event of rain, which we had for a bit. There are tons of spots for photos and beautiful scenery! Not crazy expensive too, especially for little feet. Definitely a fun time, I would say a good 3-4 hours. Strollers and wagons are good for littles too!

Google
It was fun. Our son couldn't ride a lot of the rides because he was too small to ride by himself and an adult was not allowed to ride. We went because of the Thomas the train which our son loves. We overall had a good time. I will however wait until he gets bigger before we take him again.

We went on a field trip during Letterland Days, we had the best time. My son loved seeing the characters and getting to talk with them. He loved the train ride, the skit during the ride, the chair lifts, the rides, everything we got to participate in we loved. The gift shops were awesome, they had a large variety of souvenirs. They had several food places to choose from. The petting zoo was fun, you have the option to buy feed for $1. They have a place you can pan for gold free of charge or if you choose you can buy a bucket to shift through. They had 2 different size buckets, a small bucket for $15 or large for $20. I can go on and on about this wonderful place. I will definitely be visiting with the younger kids as well on a regular day.

My 8 and 12-year-old and I had a great time here. We arrived for the 1:10 pm train ride, then spent about 3 hours with all the other activities. I was pleasantly surprised that you did not have to pay extra for the rides. From what I could tell, the only thing you had to pay extra for was bags Of gems for the gem mining or one dollar per ice cream cone of food at the petting zoo area. The rides were similar to what you might found at a carnival or county fair, and were not so big that my eight-year-old didn’t enjoy them but not so small that my 12-year-old did not have fun. We didn’t eat any of the food, but the facilities and the restrooms seemed clean. My kids did the foothills ropes course at the High Gravity climbing facility at the bottom of the area near the parking lot. It was $45 per kid and they got to do their course twice which was great. Overall, it was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Google
I haven't been to Tweetsie since I was a kid but we went with School for Letterland! We all had a wonderful time... Everyone that we came in counter with that work there was absolutely phenomenal and very friendly! I even lost the map that the teacher had given us, and one of the workers gave me their map! It was clean, and very well organized as far as who to go where, all the kids got turns and again all the staff and letters were friendly!

Yelp
We loved Tweetsie and the Thomas the Train exhibit! Reasonably priced for the value that you get. The only thing we saw you had to pay extra for once in the park was the gem mining which was $19. You can still practice gem or gold mining in the water, but you won't get any cool rocks without paying for a bucket of sand, which is reasonable. The kids adored the ski lift and the mouse train! Our favorite thing, besides riding the actual railroad itself (10/10) was the free driving car racetrack! The kids felt so cool! We came right when they opened at 10am and stayed until 12:30, which was the perfect amount of time.

Yelp
I've passed by this amusement park in Blowing Rock many times but this was our first time going. We decided to get the ghost train tickets which you need to reserve online ahead of time. The admission gets you one train ride at a reserved time. The ticket gets you into the park at 7pm and our train ride was at 9:30pm. They had some haunted houses that I assume are only up during the Halloween time frame. Our granddaughter is 8 years old and she thoroughly enjoyed all. The rides were similar to a county fair type of attractions. It wasn't annoyingly crowded so I really enjoyed that. There were gift shops and over priced eateries but I believe they allow outside food. It is a bit pricey but what isn't these days?! Glad I got to experience it with the family.

Yelp
For my nephew's birthday we decided to do an experience rather than a bunch of gifts so we spent a long weekend in the Blowing Rock area and one of our days was spent at Tweetsie as a recommendation from my dad that went when he was a kid. It didn't disappoint! We had so much fun on the train and getting to walk around the park. As a bonus they are dog friendly everywhere except the train itself and the shops. For the price of the day pass there was plenty to do to keep kids and adults busy. We hope to go again someday!

Yelp
Good place for family fun. The little ones really enjoy Tweetsie. The Christmas train was a big hit for all the little ones. Of course everything inside the park is extremely overpriced but that is to be expected. The park is well-kept and tidy. Friendly staff. Ample size parking lot. Lots of kiddie rides.

Yelp
We visited during their "Day with Thomas" and it was nothing short of amazing. My 3 year old song had an amazing time. There is so much to do for all ages - from rides, tons of shops, food and feeding animals. The prices are not like any amusement park, they food and a lot of the retail items are not crazy expensive and that was much appreciated. There were barely any lines, we went on a Friday. I wish we lived closer because I would get a season pass for us! They seem to be adding more to it, so I can't wait to visit again in a few years.

Yelp
This was our first time ever coming here to see the Christmas lights, and we are glad we did. We came on a Sunday & got tickets for the train ride at 7:30pm. It was a bit cold and a bit rainy, but thankfully, it did not pour while we were there. A few sprinkles, and we were fine. The train ride itself is about 25 minutes, and you basically ride along singing to your favorite Christmas songs and looking at all the wonderful Christmas light displays! It is a little "town," so once you're done with the train or even before, you can head to their cafe, gift shops, and many photo Op locations. They have lots of light displays to see and a stores section where you buy smores and go to any of their two campfires they have set. They have a few rides more catered to little kids, which is included in your admission tickets. You also get to see Santa! It was not busy at all when we went mainly bc it was on a Sunday night and rainy, but it was a plus for us! I will probably be back in the summertime to see how the experience differs. They do have free parking on site. This was about 2 hrs from me, and if I wouldn't have a long ride home on a Sunday before school started again, we would have def. Stayed longer to enjoy it much more, but overall, it was not a bad experience. It definitely felt like you were transported into a small Christmas hallmark movie village.

Yelp
Great amusement park with lots of fun and adventure for the family! They are currently asking that you wearing a mask while indoors but otherwise it's optional. Prices for adults is $52 for the day. They offer a AAA discount of $3
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
We were able to get tickets for the Christmas Train and it was unbelievable! What a memorable experience. The Christmas town is something out of a storybook with Christmas music, s'mores, lights, adorable shops, kids rides and not to mention Santa! The train is just absolutely magical and we loved all the employees in character! If you have an opportunity to go, this is a no brainer. Just absolutely amazing!

Yelp
Waste of money. This place is way too expensive for what they are offering. We were camping in the area and decided to bring the family. We pause $180 for 3 adults and 1 child. The premise sounds cute; an original coal-burning train and wild-west themed park. The acting during the train ride was horrible; little kids were completely lost and got bored. The food was incredibly overpriced with absolutely no healthy options. The rides were old and rusty. There wasn't anything really charming about this place. When I read other reviews that are good, it seems like they are based on nostalgia. I have no nostalgia for Tweetsie Railroad and I think you're better to spend the time doing something else in the area or save your money for a nicer park like Universal, Disney, or Busch Gardens.

Yelp
This place was amazing!! My 3 year old son is into trains, like lives trains. We have been watching the Tweetsie 190 and 12 steam engines on YouTube for the last year+ so decided we would drive the 6 hours to check it out. My son has never smiled so big, and we just took him to Disney in April... Hands down I would do this over Disney at this age and probably for the next few years. We brought my 2 year old daughter and my 1 month old as well. My daughter had as much fun if not more! The rides all all spaced out nicely and everyone there is as nice as can be. Once you are in the door the steam engine and show run every 30 or 40 min and everything but the arcade and food are included in the entry. There are three levels to the park, each with something for every age group. If gas wasn't crazy right now I would take the family back down in a few weeks, it was that fun! Planning for a winter/ Christmas visit to see the town and train in all it's Christmas glory. Highly recommend this place for all ages and any distance of drive! Absolutely great place.

Yelp
We went to Tweetsie Railroad for Opening Day. First, I will say it's not cheap. We paid $200 for 2 kids and 2 adults. However, we had a blast. We did the Wild West Adventure train ride twice, and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was two different storylines. Highly recommend. We also rode every single ride open! There were no waits for any attraction, so we went back and rode some things multiple times. I did deduct one star from the review purely because of the food. We were not impressed by the quality of the food, especially for the price. We will be bringing our own food if we return. Overall, it was a great four and a half hour experience that the kids really enjoyed. Just pricey.

Yelp
Excellent visit! This was our first time and definitely won't be the last. I was worried it would be too "childish" for my 8 year old, but she had so much fun! Actually we all had a blast!! It was so clean and organized. I also really liked how safety come first on the rides from the workers. Great visit. Well worth the money!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Great for kids under 8. We went for Thomas the train weekend. My son absolutely loved it. Gift shop was not overpriced. Food was a little pricey and not the healthiest but it is a kids amusement park so did not expect much.

Yelp
***Disclaimer*** this is perhaps the most unwelcome I felt while visiting Boone (which is tough to say given the racial make up of the town), from the stares we received from both patrons of the park and workers, to the treatment we got from one of the train attendants, this place clearly isn't used to seeing black families. My family and I intended on bringing my two baby nephews out here for the Christmas light situation but the cold rainy weather prevented us from doing so and it turned into just us adults going, thankfully. Needless to say, this place is definitely intended for kids. It's a bunch of pretend "shoppes" and "jails" and attractions, there's several backdrops you can take pictures against. There's also random places to get food. The main attraction is the train ride through the park and forest which highlights all the Christmas lights and fixtures, but it's SO underwhelming. Neither the train ride or the park itself is worth the $50 ticket. The highlight of the visit had to be leaving the park. Between the rude guests of the park staring and not saying excuse me, to the train attendant racially profiling, I was made to feel real uncomfortable at this joint; they'll never see our business again! Spare yourselves, families of color.

Yelp
Tweetsie is a fun little mountain oasis for the little ones. They have a large steam train that circles the park and the usual carnival fare. Not worth the$52 I paid for myself but I don't go that often. Great for the kids though.

Yelp
Tweetsie Railroad is nostalgic for me, since I came multiple times as a kid and remember loving it each time. Recently, I got the opportunity to take my 3 and 5 year old daughters, and while there are some things I notice more as an adult than I did as a kid (cost, quality of rides), the overall Tweetsie experience was still a very enjoyable one. We came on a Thursday at around 4pm, and their policy is that if you enter the park after 3pm, your ticket is still good for the following day because they close at 6pm. So if you are able to, I'd highly recommend doing that. You not only get to experience the park for longer, there is practically no wait for the rides as you get closer to the 6pm closing time. The tickets are $52 for adults and $33 for kids ages 3-12. The pricing is admittedly high, but it includes as many rides on the train and other attractions as you want, and you can go out and come back into the park the entire day . The main attraction at Tweetsie is the big train, which is a 3-mile loop with a few stops along the way for skits with cowboys and bandits. My daughters are a little sound-sensitive, so we had to cover their ears when there were gun shots during the skits. I don't think they were big fans of the skits, so we ended up not riding the big train more than once. They loved the train ride, though. Thankfully, there were other options for them. The kiddie rides they really enjoyed were the basic fair-style rides that go round and round, sometimes going up, etc. They also really enjoyed the chairlift that went up to the top part of the park. At the very top was a place to feed goats, llamas, etc. and it was 50 cents for a small cup of feed. There was a smaller train ride that went through this mouse cave that my kids ended up favoring over the big train ride (but they are also 3 and 5 years old). There were some shows going on throughout the day at the top area as well (all outdoors, but in a covered area). My favorite part was probably the "go karts" which are really just slow self-driving cars that you can only ride in single-file - but it brought back great memories! Most everything is outdoors except the stores to buy souvenirs and food, but there are areas to find shade throughout the park as well. Pretty much no one was wearing masks at this point, but since most things were outdoors, it seemed ok. I saw a few families with masks, which I can understand. They had hand sanitizer stations at all the rides, but it was hit or miss whether they were filled up or not. But the bathrooms were clean and well kept, and they have a few family bathrooms, which we ended up using for our kids. Overall, we had a good experience. The price is high, but if you end up showing up the day before after 3pm, then you get the whole next day to continue enjoying the park, which makes it slightly more worth it.

Yelp
Our entire adventure with our 30 yo adult son with autism was delightful. He fussed about going, but ended up having a great time. We had 8 pm reservations for the haunted train ride so beelined it for the train as soon as the gates opened at 730. We were in the last car. I would recommend being in the second or third cars to get the best view of the action at each stop. Definitely head to the Boneyard bc the haunted forest was fun. You can skip the puppet show at Tweetsie's Palace.

Yelp
On my way to grandfather mountain I went to this place and went for adventure I stop here with the family and get on tweetsie railroad for an aventure i thought it was just a ride but they surprise us with a show it was amazing ride and show

Yelp
Great place to bring younger children. Geared for them to enjoy more so than the big parks. Everyone working there is friendly and do a great job. Our granddaughter came for the first time at 8 years old and loved it.

Yelp
so fun for the family a lot of stuff to do but the train and the chairlift for probably the best lot for little kids to you definitely would recommend

Yelp
Amazing time with my young children ! Worth the far drive for us ! Everyone was super friendly ! Lines were nice and short for our impatient toddlers ! Will be back !

Yelp
Amazing Christmas attraction a short drive away from downtown Boone. We reserved a 9pm spot for the Train. We arrived at 8pm with our two boys (3&4) and they were able to ride all of the open kiddie carnival rides (4 total) twice before getting on the train. The train is outstanding and was just what we needed after a long day of dealing with the crowds in blowing rock. Easy 20minute ride through their lush mountainside property. Tons of lights that matched the Christmas music. Kept our kids entertained from start to finish. Our whole group enjoyed it. Read in a brochure that it is run by the same company that runs the Biltmore Estate and Ruby Falls, two other attractions that left us with lifelong memories. The cleanliness and smoothness of the operation was notable. Thank you Tweetsie for a memorable experience.

Yelp
I love tweetsie. It holds special memories from my childhood. Now I'm taking my kiddos, annually. With military discount we paid 138 for 2 adults, 1 eight year old and 1 4 year old. I do believe it is a little overpriced but whatcha gonna do. I suggest packing a bookbag or cooler. You can bring your own Snacks and drinks. We opt to do this then will buy a few slices of pizza ($3.50 each) Today if you bought 4 cones you got one free at the animal area. Tweetsie is a must if you're visiting. There are rides for all ages, the chair lift, animal area, and of course rising No.12 TWEETSIE

Yelp
Yes I said incredible this was a great amusement park and Railroad to stop back. Everybody in our family had a great time I especially love the ride on the steam engine train. The train made a couple stops as it goes around the little mountain at the stops for a show with cowboys and Indians it was great what a beautiful entertainment set up they have there. They do have a petting zoo and plenty amusement rides and different activities all with an out west theme. Very reasonably price and we hope to go back again some other time.

Yelp
I forgot how lame this place was. 125.00 for two adults and a child. 11 bucks for a pretzel and soda. Very limited ride's available. Lots of up and down slope walking.

Yelp
My family had a wonderful visit at Tweetsie Railroad & already want to plan another trip!

Sheila H.

Yelp
This is a perfect vacation destination that will leave your family happy and satisfied, and WON'T leave them overly heated and begging to go back to the hotel pool. All of the staff (young and old) are friendly and caring. The place is clean and well kept, plus it's in one of the most beautiful areas of NC. Children approx 10 and under will have the time of their lives without being overwhelmed. Tweetsie is definitely a very special place.

Yelp
Tweesie was awesome when I was a kid. Not anymore. I wanted to leave as soon as I got there. We had 15 people in order to get a discount. Front 'manager ' started yelling at me about needing to get tickets 48 hours in advance to get discount. Still don't see where it says that on line. There was no need for her to yell because 15 people misunderstood. Way too expensive for what you get. Rides are old and outta date. Food was horrible and extremely expensive. Nothing healthy to eat. Train ride was full of microphone problems. Couldn't hear the conductor or the petty actors. Only a 5 yr old would be amused by the acting. My daughter got a cinder in her eye. No protection or warning. You will walk alot! Chair lift is twice as high as it looks. Terrifying if not prepared for it. Lil protection for falling off most rides. I would choose another park.

Joshua W.

Yelp
The train is great but the rest of the "theme park " was dated and kind of touristy. Been here twice in my life about 25-40 years ago with my grandmother and today with my own kids. Seeing history is one thing but allowing your kids to experience a real locomotive is a who different thing! Kids loved it. Lots of carnival "other stuff ". The train was great and the cloggers show was great also. Lots of live shows, it's a slower paced family fun time best for younger kids. Laid back friendly environment and very nice staff.

Tori H.

Yelp
I almost want to give two stars but I didn't get the opportunity to see the stage shows in the dining area. We went during what I would think would be a peak time to visit and I didn't hear any music happening. The train is legit and very cool. The little show is funny and your kids will definitely be entertained. When we were watching the show a fighter jet flew over Blowing Rock and it was crazy loud. Most entertaining moment at tweetsie though. PLEASE bring headphones/gun muffler hearing protection for your baby or a person that is bothered by loud sounds. The train whistle and the fake gun shots are noisy. You've been warned. Employees are very friendly! Actors are great! The rides are just ok. Carnival/state fair style rides. I was a little nervous about the safety of sky lift to top of park. There are no seatbelts or really a bar that stays closed against you. If you have kids that wiggle I wouldn't put them on that! Some of the arcade games were not running and just took our change. We had some of the fudge and desserts there and they were good. We went off site to get lunch. Just get local food and get stamped to get back inside. All and all its fun for ages 3-7ish. Can't believe adults tickets are $50. Slight discount if you're a AAA member. I think if we ever return it will be because we were already in town for a cabin or come to ride Christmas Train. Ghost train is very good from what I've heard.

Yelp
Alright folks, this park is definitely a childhood FAVORITE of mine. I didn't have the heart to give it anything below a 4 star review. I'm here to talk about the ups and downs of my beloved childhood go to attraction. I grew up in the Foothills of North Carolina, and every year I would go to the ghost train with my dad for Halloween. It became a tradition to this day. I now have my own family, and plan on continuing that tradition. We recently visited the park this past week during one of the day time operating shows (Wild West shows.) We were able to go in after 3pm and use our tickets for the next day free entry. They offered us military discounts as well. I would like to start off my review with saying this. Dramatically over the years, the value for the price of Tweetsie has significantly decreased. The prices of the tickets/souvenirs/food/ go up, the attractions and shows go down. I'd like to talk about my recent visit first, and then get into detail about the Ghost train attraction. Our most recent visit was actually pretty wonderful, we all enjoyed it as a family. We spent $90 on tickets for two people WITH military discounts. My son was free because he was under 2. I thought that was a tad bit too steep for what Tweetsie has to offer, but I wanted my son to have a good time (and we did!) The park wasn't too crowded at all. What made us the most happiest was the fact that our son is almost a year old, and was able to do almost everything the big kids could do: ride the chairlift, the train, the merry go round, Ferris wheel, go carts, mouse mine... Which honestly I didn't think he'd be big enough for. We panned for gold which was free, and we did the gems as well. So much fun! Our son really enjoyed going to the deer park and petting the goats as well. We made so much memories on this trip, but again, spent a bit too much money on food and souvenirs, but I'm not complaining! Now onward, about the Ghost train... A complete let down. This was the main tradition my family upholds, and over the past I'd say 10 years, it's changed drastically. The park used to stay open SUPER late, but now it closes earlier. The chairlifts used to operate at Ghost train, and so did the upper part of Tweetsie (where the mouse mine is), and they no longer do. It was a huge disappointment not being able to see that part of Tweetsie, when we paid so much for our tickets. It broke my heart when they started closing regular attractions that they SHOULD have kept open, even for Ghost Train. I feel like it's a plan to save money, but it's honestly disappointing guests. The train cars have recently had TV's installed, and this past year they did most of the ghost train show on them instead of actual props in the woods. We didn't enjoy it at ALL! Please Tweetsie go back to the basics. It used to actually be scary! But on a plus side, the haunted house Is always scary, and they took away the chairlift but added the haunted forest. They always have great entertainers and people giving out candy down on Main Street, which is always fun to watch. I just wish that they would revert back to the old ways of doing things. It's beginning to become not worth the money anymore.

Yelp
Each of my boys repeatedly told me this was the best day of their life and asked when we could come back. The team at Tweetsie Railroad put on entertaining shows and go above and beyond the ensure each guest has a great time. This place isn't overly huge so 1 full day here you can do just about everything. We started the day with the train ride and I think that really set our day off on the right foot. You're quickly taken back to 'the good ol' days' when folks travelled by rail and you had to worry about cowboys and robbers lurking at each turn. From there the kids were off to the races bouncing from ride to ride and game to game. These rides seem to be a slight step up from your typical carnival rides but the whole ambiance is really what puts this place up on a pedestal.

Yelp
I went to Tweetsie as a child and remember loving it. I just recently took my own kid who is about 4. He had a terrific time at the park, riding the rides, and riding the classic steam train. It's just the right size to be easily accessible but have plenty for kids to do.

Yelp
This was my first time here it wasn't to bad had a great time took a few nice pictures & got to ride the train which was why I came in the first place I did enjoy my self & will come back again soon

Yelp
Showed up here for the Ghost Train and it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. This is a very well run park, good entertainment, and the service workers are generally very friendly. Parking is decent too. Go ride the ghost train. There's a good amount of food and drink stations, the haunted houses were really well done, and some of the side booths were surprisingly fun too. Go ride the ghost train. We arrived about 7 in the evening and had a full night of wandering around, taking rides, stuffing our gobs, and being skeert out of our britches. Oh - did I mention the ghost train?

Yelp
This place is really fun for kids. I have taken ours and nieces and nephews, and hope to take the grandkids someday. The price is too high for what it is, just a short train ride with a short show, but it has nostalgic value to me, since I came here as a kid as well.

Yelp
A group get-together with 5 kids was planned around Tweetsie. After worrying when the news guessing the day would be nothing but rain, we lucked out to get perfect, cool sunny weather. We drove to Tweetsie and found a parking space close to the entrance - the semi-crowded parking lot was deceiving since alot of the parking is from the ropes course next door. As we entered we all felt a sharp punch to the stomach as we each forked over $120 per family of 3 to enter the park for the day. This is one of the hardest things to swallow. The park houses a large, coal fired steam engine, that picks up passengers for a wild west ride/show at a old west themed town - lined with shops you can go and pay money to buy trinkets or park food. As you sit down on the train - a "Deputy" boards your car dressed to the T in a replicated outfit- complete with a Colt .38 six shooter. He walks down and greets all the kids, shakes hands, and gives a back story. The train moves along and spews coal ask as it chugs along and whistles. It makes stops where the Deputies get off and have Adam West era Batman style fights - mixed with humor and actual blanks being fired (beware! these are real guns so they are loud!). It's entertaining, but maybe not $120. The rest of park houses some more shops and some carnival rides - tilt-a-whirl, Ferris Wheel, go carts, arcade, Carousel and some plane rides. You can then take a chair lift up the mountain to another section of the park that houses some more kid rides, a scrambler, gem mine and petting zoo. We then watched a dog show that was there for the day to help with dog rescues - with Frisbee catching and pool jumping. We ate lunch while watching - lunch that you can bring in to the park in a cooler. The pros to the park are that is in the mountains, has an authentic steam engine, being able to bring your lunch in, and the length of the lines - they are all very short and you won't have to wait. The cons are the size for the price - it is a very small park for cost. You pay for the small crowds for better or worse, but it's not something I would go out of my way to do again with my kid, though he did have a great time.

Yelp
Set in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, Tweetsie Railroad debuted as an attraction on July 4, 1957. This wild west themed park features rides, shows, arcade and carnival games, zoo deer park, gold mining, food, shops, AND (the main attraction) an action-packed three-mile loop aboard one of Tweetsie's two historic steam locomotives: the No. 12 "Tweetsie" and the No. 190 "Yukon Queen."  With it's laid-back atmosphere where kids and adults alike can run, explore, and experience the fun, it's a prefect place to spend the day with the family.

Yelp
Hubby and I both went here as a kid and we enjoyed it back then but really couldn't remember a whole lot about it. After we had kids and looked it up again and saw the price we were shocked! We went to Carowinds for years and this was almost as high as them and not near the rides! Fortunately we had a friend that had bought tickets and couldn't go and she gave them to us. We could not believe the time we had!! Our kids were 2 and 3 at the time and they were in heaven!! Now, 4 years later and we've had a season pass every year since. The rides are great for little kids and even bigger kids too but whats so great about it is that our 5.5 yr old can ride any of the rides. There's a couple he doesn't care much for but he loves the rest and our 7 yr old girl loves all of the rides. The food is reasonable priced. It's high but no higher than any other amusement and possibly cheaper. What's great about this place too is that you're aloud to bring your own food and drinks in. Very FEW places allow that. You can also keep bringing your souvenir cup back and just buying refills for your drink instead of paying full price for another drink. The staff are very friendly and it's very laid back. It wouldn't be a good review of Tweetsie if I didn't talk about the train! The Train is the highlight. If you don't like trains I don't recommend visiting Tweetsie. They have 2 trains. On Train #190 you can ask the engineers and they may let you ride behind the engine with them. They are extremely knowledgeable of the train and the history of the trains at Tweetsie. It cost so much money to run those trains and that's the main reason Tweetsie costs as much as it does. A steam engine is super expensive to run and certainly not an efficient way to transport these days but boy it sure is nostalgic to take a trip into the past. The actors are great! They are funny and most go out of the way to talk to the kids and make it as fun for them as possible. Our kids love it. More so our son. He has loved trains since we went to Tweetsie that first day and never looked back. We would go just for the Train and the rides but there's even more. There's the dancing shows and Hopper and Porter which is more for little kids. A very corny magic show but the kids love it and it is cute. They even have a little zoo area. Not a whole lot but especially for little kids it's great and you can buy little cups of food to feed them. There's also gem mining too for an extra charge. I can't leave out the bathrooms! We have went to so many amusement parks over the years and these stay the cleanest I've ever seen! Been really happy with the cleaning staff here. This place may not be for everyone but for some it is THE place to be! Our kids will out grow it very soon and that's OK but for the younger years it's been a great summer get away for a lot of years!

Yelp
I came here with my cousin and her two boys (three and eight), and they absolutely loved it. The Tweetsie train ride was longer than I expected, with two breaks for skits. The other rides were varied so that little kids had options and bigger kids had faster and scarier options. The prices are a bit steep in my opinion, but what can you really do about that? They have a ski lift that you can ride to get to the top of the park, as well as a bus. There's a small area for feeding animals, and plenty of places to grab some popcorn or souvenirs. Check it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
If you have kids who love trains, (which I know many of you do!) you have to take a trip to Tweetsie Railroad. Families love this historic site & the train ride on "No. 12" alone is enough to make the trip worth it! Enjoy the sites & watch out for Indians, Cowboys, & a robbery! There are also rides, a small animal petting area, shops & resturaunts, so you can make a day out of it. They have huge month long Halloween festival every year & a "Day with Thomas the Train". The ticket prices will definitely give you "sticker shock", but hey, it's for the kids, right? : )

Yelp
This is a wonderful place for family fun at an affordable price. The cost of admission includes a great train ride and numerous other fun rides. A petting zoo and various shows are included. There are also reasonable, affordable places to eat. The staff is courteous and pleasant. We spent the whole day and had such a great time. It's a breath of fresh air as compared to other expensive theme parks with throngs of tourists and over priced bad food choices.

Yelp
Had fun here with my teen grandkids. This was their first time on adult type rides. In my opinion the rides are great. The best part was there wasn't long lines! They have something for everyone. I loved the animal feeding area. That was my favorite activity. I am very impressed with how clean all the bathrooms were and good ventilation. Two things I was disappointed in. 1- the main attraction, the tweetsie RR train is run on coal. The tiny sand like coal was flying in the train all over me and sticking to my skin. That was horrible. 2-the parking area in the lower level has a huge incline and is very difficult to walk if you have health issues. For the price they should have a regular tram to ride up to the front gate.

Yelp
Well, it is FALL season and how's it sound spending an evening in the mountains, chilly temperatures, in a theme park, amidst zombies / Draculas / sexy kittens, with a ghoulish train ride, and with a hot chocolate. I am in. Alright, Tweetsie Railroad theme park is mainly for kids, with few rides, lots of lights, a cute steam engine train ride, candied applies, mediocre haunted houses and couple other set ups for a decent night in the Halloween season. but we are two grown ups who felt childish at heart and wanted to do the train ride (Dee you liked it too, hmph). Drive from Charlotte to Blowing rock is itself a pleasure as there was no traffic and mild fall colors and as we reach Blowing rock the rise in elevation bought in nice bearable cold temperatures (50s) and a wonderful sight to the eyes. Do not expect anything great if you have visited major theme/amusement parks like Disney, Universal, Cedar point etc. This is a cute little place to hang out and great fun place for kids to spend a day/evening at. They got few rides, rides you would usually find at a carnival/fare. They got few spots to eat, a chocolate shop, souvenir shops, arcade, decent haunted houses set up and a super fun train ride that has a smoke breathing skeleton head engine. Above all I personally love the environment and atmosphere. one must absolutely try this place if you want to spend an evening in the fall season with lots of fun and easy on the pockets.

Yelp
Excellent place to take kids of all Ages to while on vacation if you want to have fun! They have a variety of rides from tilt o whirl to Ferris wheels, free fall, etc. the theme park is split into several different sections. There is a chair lift that takes you to miners mountain where you can "Mine" for gems and "gold" (or can take a bus if u don't want to go on the lift). There is a "mini" train ride that takes you through a tunnel filled with puppet like characters mining under a black light-Kids loved this. There is a train that takes the whole family around the park and includes a re-enactment of a cowboys and Indians shootout. Another section includes a country fair type atmosphere with more rides, arcade games, snack bars with funnel cakes and more. There are magic shows, singing/ dancing shows, old western photo booths, multiple gift shops and restaurants, playgrounds, etc etc. The main ticket price includes all rides including the chair lift and more.

Yelp
As a child I visited tweetsie every year so of course while we were visiting Boone we had to take a trip.Although it wasnt the best day to go (cold and rainy) it was our last day in town so decided to give it a try anyway. It turned out to be a really decent day.Of course lines were short because not many people were as brave as us that day but theres still so much to do there for the kiddos.Every employee was so courteous and the food was great. We shopped the stores for a bit, watched a puppet show, rode the train watched that cart show, went "mining" right before the tornado winds started coming through..staff was so helpful getting everyone down the hill and after things calmed down we enjoyed the next hour before going home.If youre looking to make wonderful memories this is the place to be

Yelp
This place is very expensive and you get very little in return. With a AAA discount I paid $158 for myself my wife and two sons (12 and 7) . Feeding the animals was nice and the kids enjoyed that (we paid .50 for a "cone" of animal feed). However what was particularly irritating was that there was only one operator for three rides in one section. This poor guy went from one ride to the next over and over. No doubt the ride was shorter than it should have been so he could quickly get to the next ride. Twice my son and I got in line only to be denied entry after the ride was full and then had to wait for him to operate the next two rides before he came back. In addition a few other "attractions" were closed. I was told they are having trouble finding labor (a common refrain) but that doesn't help me or my family any. They should have lowered the price of admission to compensate the guests for a subpar experience. I recommend you find other things to do with your time in that beautiful area.

Yelp
I really enjoy Tweetsie and probably giving it 4 stars out of nostalgia. It's a fun park, family oriented. It doesn't have the thrill rides that larger parks have but it's good for younger kids. The ticket prices are reasonable but inside the park the food prices are ridiculous. I would pack a snack.
