Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Shanghai

Stayed in Hualuxe at a recent stay in Shanghai. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a nice inner courtyard. The hotel has several positives, but there are also some negatives that one cannot overlook. Positives - the hotel is just next to the MRT station, and so getting around is really easy. The surrounding area of the hotel is quiet and enjoyable to walk around looking at the old mansions. The hotel room and bathroom is large and the bed is comfortable. The buffet breakfast has a good selection of local and western dishes and has an egg station which cooks eggs to your liking on demand - something I hardly find in other 5 stars hotel. Negatives. If you are given a room facing the next building, be prepared for truck loading noises in the early morning. This was loud enough to wake us up. Secondly, the pillows are too soft to provide good neck support. Thirdly, the staff could be more friendly and proactive with guests, such as helping with the luggage or offering help for transport to the airport. Fourthly, the toiletries supplied could be more generous compared to the small bottles (especially when room is occupied by 2 guests). Lastly, the electronic light controls in the room takes some time to master.

The room is clean, well maintained, all provided incl umbrella, what is missing just a toothbrush, they only provide the paste. Breakfast was good. Location is awesome, the metro station is just a few steps from hotel

Location of this hotel is great, within walking distance to old town and a lot of great places, very near to Line 1 train. I am very disappointed with this hotel cleanness and quality, with the “Luxury Collection” it is absolutely not worth the price and title, why? The shower area walls are all grown with moulds, the silicone of handle, rainforest shower water outlet and corners, all over. I never stayed in any of IHG hotel with this clean levels. Also, I am not convinced to use the bathtub. Floor mat has long hairs in it, bear in mind I have short hairs.

I really enjoyed the stay at HUALUXE. The check in process was quick and easy, with a free upgrade being the elite platinum member. The room was large and clean. The buffet breakfast was elaborate with both traditional Chinese and Western food items. Location was convenient to lots of coffee shops and bars, as well as the #1 metro station. I will definitely stay again when I am in Shanghai.

Overall I enjoyed my stay, the rooms were big and the location great. The layout of the basement gym area is very confusing and there is a level of refinement that is missing. The service was good, very attentive and kind. I would recommend.

Twelve at Hengshan is a beautiful luxury hotel with exceptional service and stunning rooms. The pool and gym are fantastic—both modern and well-equipped. The location is perfect for exploring Shanghai, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The only disappointment was the steam room not working. But overall, an amazing stay with everything else top-notch. Highly recommend!

Second time staying at Hualuxe. Big room, 210 has big window overlooking at a huge tree. Air con was good and silent. Room smells good. Yesterday late check in was really tense, 1 staff was dealing with phone calls and angry male guests and myself. Wish greeting of check in and check out guest was WARMER. Thank you

Tidy and uptown common areas. Room spacious with tasteful decoration. Located in beautiful area lined by big trees with coffee shops and restaurants. Breakfast with wide selection of food. Highly recommended hotel.
