"The Best Views of the City by the Bay The best views of San Francisco are from the top of Twin Peaks, the two hills that are located in the geographic center of the city. Only from Twin Peaks can you get a 360-degree view of the entire city. If you are lucky, on a clear day you can see all four Bay Area bridges—from the Golden Gate to the Richmond-San Rafael and the Bay Bridge all the way south to the San Mateo. Standing on North Peak, you can look down the tree line of Market all the way to the Ferry Building. All the city neighborhoods, scattered over up and down the hills, from Mission to Bernal Heights to Russian Hill to the Presidio are in your vista. If it's clear, you'll be able to see the Marin Headlands, Alcatraz, Sausalito, and even Mt. Tam. From the North Peak, you can walk over to the South Peak and take in the city views from the Sunset District down to San Francisco International Airport. Tips: 1. Bring a jacket with you. Even on a warm summer’s day, it can be chilly at Twin Peaks. 2. Wear sturdy shoes, especially if you want to walk up to the Peaks and or around them. 3. Bring binoculars, if you have them. There are telescopes that you can pay to use if you don’t have binoculars."

Google
Superb views and an awesome walk if you like hills! I walked all the way up and enjoyed seeing the awesome homes along the way. The top has awesome visibility on a clear day. Unfortunately I had a wet cloudy day so I spent my time up there in a cloud.

Google
Outside of the view at Golden Gate Park the view at Twin Peaks is one of the best viewpoints in all of San Francisco! My wife and I were able to catch the sunset. This is a unique destination that anyone visiting San Francisco should check out. There were numerous people but we were able to secure a parking spot.

The wind is very strong and quite cool, even when the sun is shining on you. The city view is beautiful, and having a binocular would make sightseeing even more enjoyable. Parking is free and ample.

I visited Twin Peaks during my August 2024 trip to San Francisco, and luckily, we finally got clear weather! The panoramic views from the top were absolutely stunning—offering a breathtaking 360-degree look at the city, the Bay, and even the distant hills. The cool breeze and peaceful atmosphere made the experience even more special. It’s one of the best vantage points in San Francisco and a must-visit spot, especially when the skies are clear.

Google
Free place to visit in San Francisco. I have been here more than 10 times. You can see the view of downtown. It’s windy there most of the time, so recommended to get a jacket.

Want to drive up to Twin Peaks and have a spectacular view of the city below. Well this is not the place you should use on your Google search. Instead put down “Twin Peaks Christmas Tree point / parking”. That location you can drive up to have park your car. This location is where you have to park below and walk up the last 150 yards or more to get to the top.

Twin Peaks offers one of the best panoramic views in San Francisco, making it a must-visit spot for any tourists. From the top, the entire city is visible including the downtown skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and even the Bay Bridge stretching into the distance. It’s hugely windy at the top and probably have to be mindful on cloudy day vs sunny day, but totally worth the visit.

Sushmita Kadam

Google
Highly recommend this place for 360 view of the city! Looks amazing at night. We had been there at around 8:30pm. It wasn’t night yet 😁 city lights are absolutely stunning.

Yelp
Twin Peaks offers one of the best views in San Francisco. The panoramic view from the top is breathtaking, with clear sights of the city skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay. It's stunning at sunrise, sunset, and even at night with the city lights. However, parking can get crazy sometimes, so plan ahead. Despite that, it's a must-visit spot to enjoy the amazing scenery.

Yelp
I recently took on the Twin Peaks hike in San Francisco and let me tell you it was an adventure worth its weight in sweat and giggles. First off, the hike, If you're a fan of uphill climbs that feel like you're climbing the StairMaster set to "extreme," then you're in for a treat. My calves are still debating whether they've forgiven me. The view from the top, though? Absolutely worth it. I'm talking a panoramic sight of the city so breathtaking that I almost forgot my legs were plotting a revolt. At that altitude, the Golden Gate Bridge looked like a toy. A funny moment of the hike was when I mistakenly thought the summit was the final destination only to find out there was another steep incline ahead. Cue my dramatic, Oscar-worthy "I can't go on" performance complete with heavy breathing and a tragic monologue about my lost motivation. Also, watch out for the fog, It rolls in like a sneaky ninja. One minute you're admiring the view and the next you're in the middle of a whiteout. All in all, It was fantastic hike with views that makes my struggle worth it. Just make sure you're prepared for a workout And don't forget to pack lots of water and snacks as there are no shops once you start the climb.

Yelp
I love running to this landmark. Can reach this destination by foot, car, bicycle, you name it. It's a fairly easy trek and the views of the City are gorgeous. It does get windy up there so make sure to bring a jacket. There are parts of the peak that are closed off to vehicles and only open to pedestrians which is nice. You can walk to various hill tops and see different views of the City. Caution: do not leave any valuables in the car. This place has seen an uptick in crime and bippers with the smash and grabs - BEWARE!

Yelp
I honestly cannot complain much about Twin Peaks other than the wind being really strong, but this has got to be one of the BEST nature views that you can barely get in any other part of life. We took the hiking route and climbed the nature path of what used to be a road to climb up to the peak.

Yelp
When I lived in SF my roomates friend lived in Twin Peaks and it was a decent drive from the Mission, because everything is a decent drive on this little peninsula. However, this view IS INSANE! Talk about going from hustle and bustle to nature and beauty with in minutes. While it's a "hike" its just a steep incline to a beautiful reward. If you're in the area and want to add an extra stop your SF bucket list, you have to stop here. The last time I was here was a few years ago and while I don't have a photo, I can see it perfectly in my mind. Stunning!
google avatar

Dennis T.

Yelp
Good for a quick stop if you're touring the city. Probably the best 360, unobstructed view of the skyline at the top of the peaks. Be careful not to leave anything in your car while walking up the peaks; if possible, it's almost a better idea to park in the neighborhood and walk up. Also a good pit stop during a run or while biking.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Excellent view of the city when the fog is away. There is some parking though can be hard to come by on a weekend with good weather.
google avatar

Jeremiah M.

Yelp
I've only came here during the night, and it was the last night that I was in San Francisco which wrapped up the trip perfectly. The view of the city from Twin Peaks was beautiful, photos cannot do justice compared to seeing it with your own eyes. Even though lots of people come up here, I was still able to find parking and was able to walk out and enjoy the views offered. San Francisco has a lovely skyline and seeing it from Twin Peaks at night was literally the peak of the trip.

Yelp
Staches Plumbing of the greater bay area always takes in the beauty of our travels. This is a spot that is always great in the day but is best at night.
google avatar

Yelp
Where do you go for the best view in town??? Twin peaks of course because it's the 2nd highest peak in San Francisco, with Mt Davidson being the tallest peak. Views are absolutely amazing. As you drive up, there really is two mini peaks, both within walking distance to each other and both have 360 degree views. As you drive further up, there is a paved lookout area with breath taking views of the downtown area. An iconic area to bring visitors for amazing views.
google avatar

Marilu F.

Yelp
If you want the best views of San Francisco, go to Twin Peaks. The views are fantastic, but I didn't really enjoy the visit. The altitude is high and I had the worst headache of life, even after taking an Advil. If you're prone to or even suspect you may wind up getting a headache, I would take an Advil before heading up there. There's also the fact there it's extremely windy. Again, this combo of altitude and wind didn't fare well for me, but I managed to take a few photos. I would probably return but with better preparation and certainly not at the end of the day.

Yelp
5 stars to this view but 3 stars to the blistering wind and low temps this FL gal experienced here! Obviously the views trump my intolerance for the wind chill. Coming from Florida, my first thought of Twin Peaks was the restaurant but to my surprise, Twin Peaks in San Francisco is a MUST when you visit to see stunning views of the city. Coming here during sunset was such an amazing experience. Although we barely lasted 5 minutes, this was such a great time of the day to visit, especially on a clear day. We saw a lot of people hiking the "peaks" and even biking up to the top. How they did that with the high speed winds and chill in the air, I can't fathom but I respect it! If you're in the area and want a breathtaking view of the city, visit Twin Peaks!
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
I came to this place multiple times. It's always windy so bring some clothes even you don't feel cold when you start your hiking. There are two bathrooms here. Spectacular view of San Francisco. I especially love the view of market street. You can all the way see the ferry building (from the road west to the place between the two peaks). You need to be there at least twice: one during day time and another during evening. The views are quite different between day and night. If you go from Golden Gate Park, it will take less than two hours hiking there and less than one hour coming back.

Yelp
Twin Peaks in San Francisco is a destination that never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many times I visit. My recent trip marked my third visit, and each time, Twin Peaks offers a different but equally mesmerizing view of the city. My first visit was on a foggy day, where the tops of buildings peeked through the mist, creating a surreal and picturesque landscape. Despite the fog, the beauty of San Francisco's skyline was undeniable, with the building tops adding a touch of mystery to the scene. The second time, I arrived during sunset, and it was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful sights I've ever witnessed. The way the setting sun painted the sky and bathed the city in a warm, golden hue was nothing short of magical. It's an experience that I would recommend to anyone seeking a moment of sheer beauty. On this latest visit, although it was a bit windy, the experience was still fantastic. Walking around Twin Peaks with my family, we enjoyed panoramic views of the entire city. It was a special moment, pointing out landmarks, our hotel, favorite restaurants, and even the apartment where I used to live. This personal connection to the sights below added a unique and memorable aspect to the visit. Twin Peaks is an ideal spot for a picnic on a sunny, warm day. The scenic beauty, coupled with the peaceful atmosphere, makes it a perfect place to relax and soak in the views of San Francisco. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Twin Peaks offers a breathtaking perspective of the city that is both inspiring and tranquil. Dog-friendliness I saw plenty of people bring their dogs and they were all enjoying it.

Yelp
I write this review about Twin Peaks for three reasons. The first is to say go. If you a tourist -- even more so if you are a resident -- this is a must. The view is spectacular. I would be remiss if I failed to recommend it. You would regret it if you did not take a look. The hiking aspect is not strenuous if you drive up to the vista point and then traverse the remainder on foot. You can, and I have, walked the whole way. As a pedestrian, you are exposed to risk on the road. It is not different than on city streets; just be cautious. The second is to say be prepared. The wind gusts. A friend lost her hat. It is usually cold. It is often foggy. The conditions change quickly. So just consider the timing. Beyond that, the human element is what it is. San Francisco is not in a doom loop. It remains one of the best cities in the world. But Twin Peaks consistently has crime. That includes break ins while you are away from the vehicle. There are altercations from time to time, and you read about intermittent violence. With this too, I would say it is not worse than an urban setting in general. Don't leave your belongings in the car. The third is to suggest Grand View Park. That is a short drive away. For my money, it is the best place from which to take in the Bay Area, at least within the city proper. (The Marin Headlands vie for the title.) It is tiny though. These are not substitutes, nor rivals. Do both. That's it. Twin Peaks. Worth it.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
Love the drive on the way up. Spectacular views when you get to the top. A must see for anyone coming to visit this city. I was fortunate to see the view at night before heading to the airport.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
The view here is amazing feels like your on top of the world, well on top of San Francisco! The road up here is beautiful especially on a sunny no foggy day. There are several stop for you to stop but go for the last one on the top. It is breathtaking especially on a clear sunny day. It always cold in San Francisco but cooker when you are on top of the mountain so make sure you have a jacket. this place is more busy on the weekends afternoon. The sunset view is amazing too but the road is not safe driving during the night. It is San Francisco so break in car is very common, don't leave anything value in the car even if it is an empty bag.

Nico Samneil S.

Yelp
Pretty good area to see the city day and night. Highest peak on San Francisco city. Parking spaces are limited. It's free to visit. Dog friendly. A good place for the family. The street art is also pretty interesting. See images and videos for further information.
google avatar

Sarena T.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning! You barely have to "earn" the view (aka hike for miles) either! You drive up and there's a small parking lot at the first peak and a larger parking lot at the second peak. Parking is free and there were a couple of port-a-potties too. Then there's a short climb (less than 100 steps) up to the peak. Do be careful going down though (I almost slipped on the way down). The first peak (with the smaller parking lot) has a better view of the city, but you can easily climb and take pictures at both peaks in under 30 minutes!
google avatar

Yelp
Twin Peaks never fails to be the spot for an incredible view of SF day or night. It's a great spot to re-visit with friends and family. You can opt to park or hike up the short but steep trails to take in the view. They do have a public restroom by the parking lot. I highly recommend bundling up since it tends to be chilly and windy.

Grace G.

Yelp
Walk, run, bike or drive! Twin Peaks is a must, whether you are a tourist or a resident! It is one of the best views of the city, day or night.
google avatar

Josephine B.

Yelp
Beautiful view of the city. I didn't do the hike. I drove up into some neighborhoods and parked my car on the side of the street/in front of houses and was still able to get a nice view. I'm sure the view would be nicer higher up. But the gate was closed when I got there. You can still get a pretty nice view with t

Yelp
Beautiful stunning breath taking views worth the trip! Our family had a wonderful adventure!

Yelp
Went at night on New Years Day 2024. This is our second time so we wanted to see it at night before leaving SF. Despite how busy it was, we were able to park up top by the bathrooms. Was a clear night so we could see the Golden Gate Bridge perfectly. Go see it on a clear day then go back at sunset. Clean bathrooms.
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
One word: breathtaking. Easy drive to the top if you have a car but I would imagine it should take a little more than half an hour to walk to the top..amazing panoramic scenery of the entire city including the Golden Gate Bride, Golden Gate Park, Downtown San Francisco, etc. Definitely visiting again in the evening or when the weather clears up!
google avatar

Yelp
Love love love coming to Twin Peaks on a gorgeous day in San Francisco. My best friend from college happens to live super close to Twin Peaks so I love coming here every time I visit her. The drive up is actually one of the easier viewpoint drives I've experienced. The lanes are surprisingly wide and there are borders on the edge of the road that makes you feel safe so you won't fall off. The road itself is not that windy, and it takes like 2 minutes to get from the bottom to the top. You can park at the first stop, or you can go up a little higher and there are more parking spots. The view is simply amazing! You can't beat it. Unparalleled views of San Francisco (as long as Karl isn't out;). Great spot for photos, day or night. I loved coming here during the day to see the city but the view at night hits different with all the city lights. Definitely a must-see attraction in San Francisco. And it's free!
google avatar

Rohan M.

Yelp
Amazing views of the city from this point. Really recommend visiting once. The night lights are particularly lovely. Just make sure to reach all the way to the top via a vehicle.

Nathanael H.

Yelp
Everything, the view, the vibe, even if San Francisco feels polluted. It's my home. Cheers
google avatar

Emerson Y.

Yelp
Not really a business, more like a nice public open space. Sometimes there's a really fun swing attached to a tree but it gets taken down and replaced regularly. I'd say it's a coin toss if it's going to be there or not. BEAUTIFUL panoramic city views that can't be beat. 10/10 place to watch fireworks on Fourth of July. Not too strenuous of a walk to get up here but I do recommend wearing good grip shoes. You will need to climb stairs. Highly recommend for photo shoots, relaxed dates, and just good vibes.
google avatar

Jenna S.

Yelp
Wow.. this is a must see spot when visiting SF. It is worth the short drive to get there and you get 360 degree views of the whole city! We went for sunset and it surely didn't disappoint. I am really thankful we heard about this spot from Yelp so that we were able to experience it!! Best views of SF in my opinion. You are able to drive right up to Twin Peaks and get incredible views, and if your health allows, you can take a short walk up one of the peaks to get even more views. This is a must see spot on any trip to SF.

Yelp
Looking for the perfect view of San Francisco???? Visit Twin Peaks!!!! No long review needed. I'll let the pictures show for it. Perfect place to watch the sunset or sunrise.

Yelp
Beautiful place to go sight seeing and take pictures make sure to take sweaters because it's cold and windy up there!!
google avatar

Yelp
Twin Peaks is a scenic spot that offers a 360 degree view of San Francisco. These two hills rise almost 1000 feet above the City and sit just about in its geographical center. I came here on a foggy and chilly day in August! That's the typical Bay Area for you. It's name wasn't called that by the Spanish settlers. They named it Los Pechos de la Chola, or The Breasts of the Indian Woman. Wow! Who knew, right? Lol ;) No one knows now what the Indians called it, but according to Ohlone legend, there was once only one mountain-hill, consisting of a man and a woman. Because they wouldn't stop their constant arguing, the Great Spirit separated them, and they became two hills-mountains. Anyway, it's a popular spot among locals and tourist such as myself. Overall, I liked the view it offered and I highly recommend this scenic spot.

From L.A. C.

Yelp
If you're from L.A. and like views, this is a nice spot to chill while eating pizza or tacos. A for sure place to check out
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Came here for the first time but it was cold and foggy. Regardless, it was still nice to see the clouds rolling in and how eerie it looks. I would love to come again when it's warmer and clear sky! SF have some beautiful spots!
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
If you're looking for an amazing drive up view in SF, look no further! Came out for some nighttime views and were not disappointed. Parking was a little tight up top, but honestly the parking spaces are sized for shuttles or buses so we just parked between two other cars with plenty of space between. The views were incredible, and we could see everything from the Golden Gate Bridge to East Bay! Stunning views on a clear day/night, and just another of the many SF parks spots that makes you appreciate how amazing this city & its parks department is. Honestly I don't know why I don't come here more often, it'll have to be added to my list of go to's!
google avatar

Maddie D.

Yelp
Be careful when visiting this spot, do not leave valuables in your car. People are known for breaking windows and stealing personals even if you're just feet away taking a picture. Stay safe and wear a windbreaker I came first week of July and it was 25 mph winds at the top!!
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
Stunning stunning views of the city, Golden Gate, and the Bay! A must add to the city rotation if you are showing people around. I got lucky on this last visit. It was a very clear mild day with views as far as the eye could see. We got lucky with parking as well. How lucky are we to live in the area!
google avatar

Joanne W.

Yelp
A good place to go to, to have that solemn moment. Whether it be solo, with a friend, or a lover. SF's beauty can be seen here at a bird eyes view. Nice to go in the daytime or the night if you like to see twinkling lights haha. Make sure to pack a sweater during the winter it can get pretty chilly.
google avatar

Jack H.

Yelp
Definitely a must stop location if you're in beautiful San Francisco because the view up here is just magnificent! On the weekends, the parking lot can get very crowded, but I feel like people usually stay here for maybe 15-20 mins (photo op), and there's constantly cars coming/leaving. It can get extremely cold and windy up here (bring warm clothing), especially after the coastal fog rolls into the city in the afternoon, so plan the timing accordingly to ensure you're getting the best photo possible. They have couple of those circular, self cleaning public toilets (not sure if you need to pay), and there's a decent line of people lined up for it. Pee beforehand?
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
GORGEOUS MORNING HERE AT TWIN PEAKS. Well worth the drive and the walking. We had such a beautiful time here - we will definitely be coming back and visiting here during sunset, as promised.
google avatar

Stephan D.

Yelp
Our waitress in West Palm Beach was fantastic. Alexandra was very attentive to our choice of food. Mike , manager, took the time to greet us. A very comfortable experience.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Best view of the city EVER. Beautiful at night, and I'm sure even better during the day. Definitely have to make this the first stop on my next touristy drive around here. The hill isn't even scary (how I classify 95% of San Franciscan hills), so I'm all for this drive! Pretty crowded so cross your fingers and toes for parking. Otherwise you'll be waiting in line for a minute. Again, all worth it. There was even a party bus that showed up, they knew what was what! Go on and knock this off your bucket list now!
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
I recently went for a hike at Twin Peaks with a friend. There are two peaks henceforth Twin Peaks. If you go here give yourself time and go hike up both of them. It was fairly crowded when we were here. It does get windy. The steps lead you up to the top for a magnificent 360 degree vista view of the City. Not sure what peak is taller yet after we did the second peak felt the second peak is taller. It does get a bit breezy so take care ascending to the summit of the peaks and enjoy the views! Make sure to layer up and dress warm.
google avatar

Phil A.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times, and I've never not seen this place crowded or semi-crowded, but coming here during COVID-19, this place was almost empty, in the middle of the day on a Saturday no less!!! So, during this pandemic, the road up is blocked and no cars are allowed to drive up, you have to park and walk. I would say I think I enjoyed it more this way, walking up that winding road, then realizing when you get close to the top, there's a shortcut you could've taken, lol!! You definitely see a lot more walking. Once at the top, well, you already know how great the views are, especially on clear days, and the Bay Breeze is always on point!! I always took out of town visitors here, and they were always blown away by the views. Although I enjoyed it, I did miss the crowds that used to be here, I'll be glad when that element comes back!!
google avatar

E C.

Yelp
This place is right above my house in Noe Valley. A super location to walk around with amazing views of our fair City By The Bay. Be aware as there can sometimes be characters lurking esp in the evening hours, but overall a safe and awesome location. If you hike up on the trail you can get to a peak that lets you see the bay on one side and the ocean (on a clear day) on the other. Best place to watch a sunset and full moon rise.
google avatar

Melody C.

Yelp
Probably one of the best spots to enjoy night time views of SF. PSA: to anyone thinking that the entry way is closed off to cars, don't go onto Twin Peaks Blvd from Clayton St. enter twin peaks blvd from portola Dr instead and you'll be able to reach twin peaks and park your car in the designated parking spots there! Tip: super chilly up there so dress warmly
google avatar

Alexander M.

Yelp
We were showing some out-of-towners around San Francisco, and took that opportunity to give them the 360º view of The Emerald City that we so often take for granted. We were able to give them a sweeping tour of the city, and some great vistas prime for selfies! I was raised here in San Francisco and, like so many, forget sometimes to take a look back at our beautiful home. A stop a Twin Peaks was a great opportunity to show our hometown pride and remember how great it was to grow up here.
google avatar

Han L.

Yelp
I love this place. It's the best view in the city hands down. If you have to choose one, come here. Come during golden hour and stay for sunset. Parking isn't bad at all. If the lot is full, park at the pullout. There's even bathrooms at the top. Walk until you see both bridges! It's the best view here.
