Disappointing. On the plus side, good location - right on the beach. The area is quiet and laid-back - much less touristy than nearby Paje - but there's still a few places around to eat, lounge or have a drink For the rest, we stayed for four nights, and the staff were not planning on changing our towels even once. When we asked for two fresh towels, it was apparently mission impossible. So was getting a cold bottle of water. Or cleaning the tables at breakfast. Basic stuff. Overall, the staff don't care at all, and the property is poorly maintained and doesn't get the care it needs. Staff would rather sit on their phones all day than fix the broken beach chairs, stock the fridge, or any of the million other fixes/improvements they could be making. From the other reviews, we get the impression that things might be better when the European owners are around, but we gather this is pretty rare these days. So I wouldn't take the chance and definitely avoid! There's much better options nearby, at the same cost or cheaper.

We took a regular taxi from Stone Town for $30. If you do this, do note the hotel isn't signposted. The correct turn off the main road is the one for 'Evergreen Bungalows'.

The food at Twisted Palms was very good and extremely good value.||This does mean that people from surrounding hotels choose to eat here so it can get very busy. Remember to book a table.||The rooms are either by the beach or set back by the pool.||Beachside rooms can be noisier , particularly the rooms in the block in the middle which I would avoid.||Poolside rooms miss the sea view but are much quieter so take your pick.||At New Year the hotel becomes party central so based on your love of decibels make your choice.

After weeks of travelling and safaris we finished off our travels with some rest and relaxation at the Twisted Palms. The staff was warm and welcoming, the food was great and the massages were excellent. We really enjoyed the pool area when the tide was out. Tibu, our driver was extremely helpful and came with a lot of local knowledge.

We stayed in Twisted Palms for two weeks. This was great family vacation for all of us! Our three children (2, 4 and 10 years old) enjoyed it a lot. Zlatko, Ivan and the team are great and we felt like a part of the family. Twisted Palms offers clean accommodation, delicious and affordable food, fast Wi-Fi, swimming pool and places to chill at the beautiful white, sandy and peaceful beach. The staff assisted us to easily arrange different excursion around the island. We loved it!

Great food, with large portions. Probably, the best sea food we ate in Zanzibar. Great value for money. Good thing is that, if you finish your dinner, and the night is up, the security takes you to your resort, for your security. You must visit this place if you come to Zanzibar.

If you want the real Zanzibar experience, this is the right place. The bungalow is right at the beach with a nice little restaurant and a lounge area. The staff is very polite and professional. And the food, omg soo good, fresh from the sea. I really enjoyed the intimacy of this place. Only thing that bothered me is bathroom with no door, only a curtain. If you are expecting a 5 star accomodation, then this isn't a place for you.

The place was not as the pictures. It was badly in need of repair and replacement. No toilet seat in bathroom. Shower broken and we had to fix ceiling fan. The pool area was derelict and unsafe. The numerous steps to the pool are were in a state of disrepair and handrails come adrift and unsafe. They did not collect us from the airport and at 4 in the morning we had to pay premium rate for a taxi. On arrival nobody to meet us and when someone did arrive they didn't know we were coming and so had to ring manager who did not come down but left for poor man to sort. Even though we had paid in full for 7 nights we only stayed 1 and on leaving explaining that we were bitterly disappointed and felt that the place misrepresented itself online we were not offered any refund other than we could eat there for free, which we declined as we were unsure of the whole place by then. We had to then pay for elsewhere for the rest of our stay which speaks volumes fir this place. The staff we friendly and tried to help us but with an absentee owner who obviously doesn't care or bother with the place or the customers they have their work cut out
