Never tried this place until today and we’ll definitely be back! Burgers were delicious! We did ask for our fries crispy and that didn’t happen. But we threw them in the air fryer to crisp them up and that didn’t happen the trick! Chicken dipping sauce was 🔥! Watermelon tea was very refreshing! If you’re in the area it’s a must try!

Stopped in for lunch during a work trip. They have a pickle bar to help yourself to. (Bread and butter, dill, atomic, sweet and spicy, and ranch flavors). They also make their own sodas. My coworker said the cream soda was the best she's ever had. The meat of the week was Camel. So I had a camel burger. Very similar to a bison burger. Really cool place and will definitely go again when in the area.

Google
It's a great place for a quick lunch. A variety of dishes and especially hamburgers. They give every order a celebrity name right announce when the food is ready for pick up at the window. I am not a fan of root beer, but they have a variety of self-service root beer that I hear it is very good.

Google
I’ll start with the pickled barrels, they were the bomb. The variety of pickles to try are great. The pickles are scrumptious. The fried egg topped with bacon on my burger was delicious. Our loaded fries were also yummy. Went in late in the evening and the tables were very clean. And the service was friendly. Will visit again.

Google
Good service. Pleasant atmosphere. My party was pleased with food. I needed more variety and we weren’t fans of the fried carrots.we sat just outside the restroom not realizing we would be startled 5x when the restroom door hit the wall by our booths. Overall it was ok but not somewhere I would patronize frequently.oh the cute cards with pic and name was nice. The name on card was called when our orders was ready.

Google
You don't expect a place that's all about burgers to have awesome chicken but their tenders were fantastic. Really juicy and with a unique breading I haven't had elsewhere.

Google
This is a great burger joint located in the downtown of Carrolton. We are vegetarian so was bit hesitant however, had to take a friend who wanted to try something Texan style and this placed didn't disappoint us. We ordered their vegan burger, Texas Burger, South Salad, Orio Shake, Fried pickles and lemonade. I would say that their burgers were amazing and we being vegetarian- still loved the patty and the whole combination of the burger along with the fries. Oreo shake was great too though lemonade was bit on the sweeter side. I would highly recommend this place and I can assure you that it won't disappoint. Please note: Parking is bit of a challenge so plan accordingly and it's a self serve restaurant therefore be ready to get up from your seat to get your order.

Whenever I’m craving a good burger, Twisted Root is my go-to! I love their Western Burger—it's always juicy and cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe with plenty of seating, and the staff is always nice and friendly. I also love their selection of self-serve pickles—you can choose from a variety, but my favorites are the sweet and spicy pickles!

Yelp
Okay... Tbh, I haven't tried the food I ordered; had to get it to go, but the experience from the line to the bathroom was wildly awesome... My biggest mistake was to not get my dudes name; Jason Mamoa Jr. (I know you've gotten it before ‍), you're awesome! Best Restaurant/Bar atmosphere I've experienced in this area!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute location. Friendly, helpful (patient lol) staff/bartender and my burger was delish. I had the Western. Fries + drinks okay/ good. Definitely recommend going to this location for a good burger in a cozy unique environment... at least on a weeknight. We went on a Thursday night, but I can see how it could get packed on a Saturday afternoon.

Yelp
We came here after landing in Dallas and waiting for our hotel. I really liked all of the pickle options, but I shouldn't have gotten the fried pickles with the large pickle bar. The burger was good and had a good spicy level with the jalapeños. After talking it over again with my girlfriend who doesn't do many reviews, I realize I was a bit harsh with my initial review. I also appreciate the owners reaching out to make things right. I will give this place another try when / if I am back in the area and want to thank them for reaching out.

Yelp
Yummy vegan burger!!! Flavor was delicious except it crumbled and was a bit messy. The service was great! Love how they call you using celebrity names to get ur food! The place was nice, casual and it was a bit busy during lunch time.

Yelp
It's been years since I've visited this location. If you're looking for a good burger and fries, this is your place. They have a ton of burger options and a pickle station. Everything was hot and fresh! These burgers are huge, so you may end up with leftovers. Staff was decent. Ambiance is mediocre but I wouldn't expect it to be anything more than what it was. They are a little pricey (reason for the 4 stars) but I'd definitely return and bring a friend.

Yelp
Love this burger place! It's a cute rustic place. Huge fan of their Lots-A-Shroom, Big Tex, and Twisted Mule. Can't wait to visit again and try their spiked milkshakes! Both times I visited, the service was quick.

Yelp
Pretty decent burger place with a bar. I got the Western burger, which has pepper Jack, bacon, fried onion strings and jalapeños. Pretty solid burger. I really like the brioche bun. They also have a free house-made pickle bar where you can try different kinds of pickles. Some are spicy, some are sweet. Give each one a try! Plenty of seating both inside and outside on the patio. Great for large groups.

Yelp
Great ambiance in an old warehouse with bar, music on big a screen and instead of calling order numbers they give you a character/celebrity name card, we got Lucy Van Pelt Our party ordered chicken tenders, Shroom Burger, and The Classic. All cooked to perfection (med-rare). The different pickle barrels were awesome - Ranch dill and spicy. We also ordered Fried Ride appetizers with fries, onion strings, carrots and green beans. They were all great while hot but the onion strings got soggy as they got cold. Altogether they were good.

Yelp
I'm so glad I walked here A must try Friendly staff. Knowledgeable on the food. I ordered the. Gosh Jam It. Comes with herbed goat cheese , tomato bacon habanero jam (damn good ) but instead of beef I ordered my cheese burger with Camel. I'm surprised it's good and better for you. It's a leaner meat Stop here and give it a try. You'll be back

Yelp
Interesting place surprisingly not too crowded at lunch in a week day Food was good. Will be back again

Yelp
Tootsies Hot Chicken sandwich absolutely slaps and is priced really well. The mules on tap at the bar are also outstanding, but just a bit expensive for how small they are. Love this place

Yelp
Before going to H-Mart, I stopped at Twisted Root Burger for a quick meal. Due to the proximity of the downtown Carrollton DART station, parking in this area can be a little challenging. To place an order, enter the restaurantand walk back to the "in" door and place your order at the counter. The Big Tex burger, which came with cheddar, guacamole, fried onion strings, and chipotle sauce, was underwhelming. Despite having guacamole and chipotle sauce on it, the burger was quite dry and cooked to an extreme degree of doneness. Additionally, I added a side of overcooked fries to my order. To finish the meal, I had to drown my burger and fries in ketchup. The meal is far better at the Twisted Root restaurant in Deep Ellum, where I've been. In the future, I'd like to go back, but I'll probably try a different location.

Yelp
This place was just okay-ish. I don't feel like the quality of food was justified for the price point (it was roughly $24 dollars for two burgers and a side of plain fries, and I got a pretty low key burger without a ton of toppings). I personally ordered The Classic burger and added a fried egg on top. The Classic comes with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato so I decided to add the egg for extra flavor. The burger patty itself was dry and bland, and unfortunately the egg didn't help much with that. There's also no sauce on The Classic, so I effectively drowned it in ketchup to add some moisture to it. My partner and I also ordered a side of fries. The fries weren't amazing, not horrible either. Just okay. If you're in the Carrollton square area and need to eat somewhere that will get you in and out quickly, this would be that place. But otherwise I wouldn't rush here anytime soon.

Yelp
Food was Great Service, sat in Bar area, received Excellent service from Server/Bartender Tristen she was EXCELLENT, very professional and great personality. Ambiance is very good, fits the menu and the area of Carrollton.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this place as I wanted to have a burger upon my return to Texas. The staff was super friendly and helpful with answering questions about the menu; but when I get home and begin eating my burger I see that my patty is not even cooked! Why is my burger pink!!!??? Very disappointed!
google avatar

Kenyon E.

Yelp
Great simple burgers. We placed a to go order and the order came out quickly and correctly. I got to check out the different flavored pickles which were delicious!!!! Took some of the bread and butter pickles home.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
They have delicious burgers with toppings that you don't find everywhere. They offer several flavors of pickles, help yourself for Free! We had a large crowd after a nearby play let out. And they got our group served quickly. Yum, enjoy!

Yelp
Amazing service, great food and atmosphere. Received our food fast, even though it was a lunch rush

Yelp
Had a great dinner at Twisted Root. We ordered Lots A Shrooms and Gosh Jam It. Our favorite was the Gosh Jam It. We didn't expect goat cheese and jam to pair so well as a burger combo. The shroom burger didn't have much flavor but was still a fine sandwich. We'll definitely order the Gosh Jam It again. The onion rings were great with the chipotle ketchup sauce! We had a clump that had raw batter however. I love pickles and thoroughly enjoyed the pickle selection at the pickle bar!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Their tomato jam and goat cheese burger is pretty legit, I always get an extra side of jam. I also love the Moscow mules on draft and the barrels of pickles in a variety of flavors you can help yourself to. I'd give 5 stars, but the burgers are usually a bit dry. Still good, but dry.

Yelp
We were in the mood for a burger and Twisted Root came to mind. They have great burgers, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I'm glad to see this location re-opened after being temporarily closed for most of last year. We decided to go the take-out route this time so we ordered through their website which is powered by the Toast Takeout and Delivery app. The process was quick and straight forward. We ordred: the millionaire: oh so messy, but oh so good! The truffle aioli and dark beer sauce puts the burger in another class and you can't help but raise your pinky as you eat it. gosh jam it: the goat cheese and tomato-bacon-onion jam really punches you in the mouth with flavor! it's creamy, sweet and tender all in one burger. lots-a-shroom: this is a definite classic! The mushrooms are cooked perfectly and melted Swiss cheese holds everything together. tootsie hot chicken: this is a decent chicken sandwich, but not high on the list for recommendation. The chicken is not at all spicy and the breading is a bit thick to the point where it slide off the chicken. I'd say stick with the burgers. We also ordered a couple orders of hand punched french fries and watermelon tea. The prices are reasonable for a gourmet burger joint. Parking is a bit of a pain on weekends. There is a free parking garage located behind Twisted Root, but it is shared by patrons from that shop in the Downtown Carrollton Area. Overall, I'm happy to see Twisted Root is still in business. I can't wait to head back out and actually enjoy my burger in-house.

Yelp
Cool place! Not huge, small bar and some regular tables, but cool vibe. Service was fast, friendly and prompt on my visit. They hand you a card with an old celebrity's name they'll call for your order. I got the Millionaire burger with the deep fried carrots and green beans. It was awesome! Wagyu beef, bacon, cheese and Lots of fried onions on it. Burger didn't need them, but Also tried their custom made horseradish mustard and root beer bbq sauces...they were both really good. The carrots and green beans were great too. Still crunchy and Lightly breaded with a spicy dipping sauce, So full I didn't have a chance to try their milkshakes. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
I love me some twisted root! It is my go to for well crafted burgers and world class loaded cheese fries! So yummy. My favorite burger is the Gosh Jam It, the goat cheese and bacon jam is amazing and really gives the burger a very unique and exceptional taste. The loaded fries with the ranch is to die for! And don't forget the pickle bar, those bread and butter pickles are everything! Do yourself a favor and pull up to any location in the DFW, you won't be disappointed! @MissMo2323

Yelp
This place was delicious!! The staff was suuper friendly and I was easily about to ensure my order was gluten-free! We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
A good place to sit down and get a fun burger! I highly recommend the loaded fries and the freshman 15 is great if like egg in your burger! The s'mores shake is also very good if you want a sweet treat! The staff gets your food to you fairly fast and the restaurant has a lot of seating with fun/quirky decorations.

Patrick T.

Yelp
Burger was really good thanks to some help from the custom ketchup. Shake was decent, thick and sweet. The ambiance was great, nice open layout with fresh air coming in on a nice day
google avatar

Yelp
food: 4.8/5 i got the vega bond (5/5) and the twist your self fries (3.8/5) the vega bond is my favorite! this is actually my favorite vegan burger i've tried so far. vegan burgers are usually very dry and crumbly, but this burger is still crumbly, but it's not dry! also, i love the pickle buckets. my favorite pickle is it the sweet and spicy (5/5) the fries are mid. nothing special about them. just normal cheese fries with bacon, jalapeños, and ranch, but they're still good! service: 5/5 quick and short interactions. the cashier was nice and complimented my sweater and the guy who served me my food, he was extremely kind! we didn't know that we were supposed to leave our dishes on table, so we took it to him and he was so nice about it. ambiance: 5/5 lots of space and casual! nothing wrong.
google avatar

Helene D.

Yelp
Burger was super delicious! My only downside is that the bottom of the bun was too soggy and caused the bun to stick on the paper. Millionaire burger-- Meat patty was delicious! I don't even like onions but the shoe string onions with the truffle aioli sauce was ON point. Couldn't finish the whole burger so saved it for next day and it was still good

B W.

Yelp
Ordered a burger to go and it looked it was run over by a truck. The bun was falling apart and half of the toppings were squished and/or missing. Looked nothing like what was advertised. The fountain drink tasted like medicine. Bad all around and a big disappointment for $20!!
google avatar

Terri S.

Yelp
Got the 'shroom burger and onion strings and both were flavorful and not greasy. Service was quick and great.

Yelp
There are several Twisted Roots in the D/FW area. This location is my favorite. I order my burgers well done. This burger spot gives me a juicy well done burger every time. It's been my experience that some other burger places punish me with a dry well done burger. Not this place. I appreciate Twisted Root's juicy well done. One day, I will venture out and try a chicken sandwich. They have milkshakes on the menu. I would like to see a cookie or brownie at the counter to satisfy my sweet tooth. But hey, it's a burger place and they serve good burgers.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Came here with my friends for a dinner during the week. The Food was good and fast. 100% get the s'mores milkshake. I love when burger places have goat cheese on their menu. 10/10
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
LOVE coming here! Love all the free pickles you can have that they make in house. The burgers we got were amazing and we love the seating they have outside. Definitely will return again and again.
google avatar

Maddi B.

Yelp
Twisted Root is SO GOOD! The dining room is separated from the ordering counter by a door, which is a little weird, but once you figure it out, all of the employees are so kind. They've got lots of menu options with a variety of meats, which is awesome because my boyfriend and I aren't eating red meat, so we were able to get a turkey burger and a chicken sandwich no problem. And they were amazing! We also tried the fried pickles and I loved them. They have a heavy breading and came with a yummy sauce. They have a fun pickle bar with a variety of flavors. The playlist was amazing and the vibes were good. Definitely try out Twisted Root!
google avatar

Derrick E.

Yelp
If ever in downtown Carrollton, this place is a must. Cool decor and a great bar. There's even a pickle bar with a variety of flavors. All food is made fresh to order. Give them a try.

Dean T.

Yelp
Great burgers always! Fast service! Pickle station is da bomb! Free drink refills! 10 out of 10!
google avatar

Danica A.

Yelp
What better way to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day than to celebrate at one of our favorite places, Twisted Root! Everything on the menu is so yummy that it's hard to pick just one. (or you can get everything, no judgment!) If you're into pickles, they have several different kinds of flavor. My favorite is the ranch one. Also, I think it's fun that they give us different celebrity names to pick up our order. Great food + great service = great experience

Jenna W.

Yelp
Let me leave this review page, quit forcing me to write a review. I am stuck on this page

Renisha S.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Twisted Root, I'm always pleased to eat at any of their locations. The owner Jason reached out to me to apologize for my cold fries that I gave a 4star review because of. I was shocked that the owner took the time out to even respond to a still good review but not only did he apologize but he also sent a gift card to ensure I come back and get freshly cooked, hot fries. I visited a location I've never been to before and it was the best burger I ever had, that I ended up getting ttwo burgers rather than one combo. I had the Big Tex and The Spicy Goat. Both were amazing but that spicy goat is something else. The goat cheese with the chipotle sauce is a perfect combination...the chipotle sauce is not too spicy either FYI. And the big Tex has guacamole, and cheddar cheese with the chipotle sauce. The guacamole added a freshness this one I didn't need to add pickles but the spicy goat I added the sweet and spicy pickles which was a perfect touch. The pickle station is also my favorite thing about Twisted Root...so be sure to come and try all the pickle options available.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, creative thinking throughout the restaurant, and most importantly fantastic burgers! Highly recommend the Gosh Jam It! Wow!
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Gosh JAM IT, is where it's at! Try this burger. It has a delectable goat cheese spread and a wonderfully balanced sweet jam over your choice of ground beef, Buffalo, chicken, veggie burger, or exotic(depends on season) like antelope with fresh lettuce tomato and lemme tell ya about the picked selection! VATS of pickles to try. And boy oh boy do those spicy ones hit the spot. Have as many as you want too. They have 5 different kinds to choose from. They have a bar and any burger pairs wonderfully with one of their drought beers. The interior and design is fun and looks like an old porch in Louisiana. Service is take out style ordering and then they call you up for your food. Employees were helpful with food suggestions and for extras. They also have family style long bench seating so this was PERFECT for our traveling soccer team to come in all together and have a meal. Love this area of Carrollton just wish the parking situation was better. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for the Gosh Jam It!

Yelp
This is my second experience at the Twisted Root, Carrollton. The fam wanted a burger and the wife suggested giving them a second go. The dead pigeon in the outside eating area was start but we trooped on. Atmosphere - Posts apocalyptic The Restaurant: Restaurant did not present as being clean. Trash on the floor, tables not wiped down, condiments not filled. Literally went to 4 tables and found 6 empty bottles of ketchup before we found one that was 1/4 full. I cannot say that I saw anyone sanitizing the area the only 3 other people were after they left. The Kitchen and Staff The kitchen staff looked disheveled. They were mulling around, just hanging out in the kitchen talking. The young lady at the service wasn't rude but she was not pleasant either. She did not smile nor did not greet us at all. She had a very flat affect as if we were a hindrance to her afternoon. Customer service is not her calling. The was smell of old oil was prevalent but really did not pay attention to the cooking area. The Order: We ordered the All-American Burger, Ranch Burger and the Western Burger, 2 treat-yo-self twisted cheese fries one without jalapeno, a soft drink and an iced tea and water The meat patties appeared to have been frozen and out of the box. They were perfectly round, hard, dry, and bland. All three where cold not even cheeses were warm. They were all melted but hard which is strange for a freshly cook sandwich right? We were served approximately 20 minutes after ordering. If takes 10 minutes to cook a burger then it sat for 5 +- minutes. 1 piece of lettuce wilted soggy tomato slice, 2 half wrings of onion. it is a sad un-flavorful burger. the western had 2 pieces of precooked bacon and the supposed onion wring I think were out of can poured on top. The Doritos on the ranch were stale and bits like at the end of the bag. Treat-yo-self twisted cheese fries - AH Yes, the fries. We had a small discussion with girly at the counter about wanting 2 orders of fries one with no jalapeno. She had a hard time grasping this concept once she finally understood she failed to put in the order anyway. The fries were bits and pieces from the end of the bag at the end of the day that were left in the basket, ROCK !!!!! hard. If you are familiar with cooking at all, they were cooked oil that was overheated and in the vat for a while. Just nasty. The order came out with a piece of slice cheddar cheese that was microwaved to melt it. Conclusion I would not recommend eating here at all. There are many other restaurants that offer very tasty burgers. The staff is not engaging and friendly and there is painfully obvious that there is no passion for food in that place. This is a place that you want to be out of the box good, but it just isn't. It really isn't good at all; in fact the entire experience was awful.
google avatar

Janee' T.

Yelp
This place was okay. The setup was nice. The food came out fairly quickly. The burger itself was mid. It was an unseasoned patty that left it up to the toppings to provide flavor. I got the bacon cheeseburger well done and requested grilled onions. With a side of the onion strings. The food was nice and hot when it came out, but the burger was unseasoned. The cheese was nice and melty and they weren't stingy with the bacon. The onion strings were really good. The were loosely battered but had a decent crunch to them. I like the assortment of pickles they had to try. Of course bread and butter and sweet and spicy were the best tasting ones. Shakes were ordered (oreo, vanilla, and 2 root beer floats) everyone seemed happy with their choice. When you order a root set float they just put the ice cream in a cup and you get your own root beer out the fountain. Being from out of state it was nice to try something we don't have at home, but I don't have to go back.

Yelp
This time around it was the Shrooms & Swiss. Sooooo good! Fries could have been a little crispier, and the ranch pickles were tasty, but sadly soggy. Wah wah. The other pickles were crunchy, so maybe time to change out the ranch ones. Kids loved the park behind the building. Great location for families.
google avatar

Sarrang P.

Yelp
To be honest I'm not sure what the hype about this place is but I thought it was just okay. Fries got super soggy really quick but was good right out. The burger I got was juicy only because of the mushrooms but the patty seemed so dried out it was a little sad. I think for the price I would rather go to another gourmet burger place.

Yelp
Rode my motorcycle down from Denton to Twisted Root. I have eaten there a few times in the past with a friend who suggested it but was not all that impressed. Today was terrible. The burger was dry as a dishrag, the fries were warm and small pieces and almost burnt. The men's room was FILTHY! Walls, floors and all was basically disgusting. That being said, I should have turned around at the door when I saw the ridiculous 3005 weapons placard place at the entrance. Against my better judgement, and not wanting to go home hungry, I locked up my weapon (I am a TX LTC licensed carrier, well trained and seasoned for MANY years) and went inside. Like I stated earlier, I would have been better off leaving as soon as I saw that sign! I have already informed many of my motorcycle and LTC friends to steer clear of this dirty and left leaning establishment. Never again will I let my hunger override my 2nd amendment rights at ANY eatery! $15.00 for that so called "meal" was insulting! Needless to say I will NOT return!!

Yelp
I've been to a few other locations but not in a while. I actually thought this chain had shut down so I was quite surprised when I saw it while driving around trying to decide what to eat for lunch. The area is nice but parking is kind of dicey. I went with two of my coworkers and we all enjoyed the pickle bar and two of us really liked the watermelon tea. The burger was ok but could have been juicier and the fries were good. I like the mayo bottles being available because I am one to over mayo my burger. One of my coworkers order came out wrong but she ate it anyway and didn't fuss about it.

Yelp
I really like Twisted Burger. They have an eclectic energy that permeates their decor, their recipes and even the way they do business. The kitchen where you order is found by going through a screen door. It makes you feel like a child again coming inside grandma's house after a fun day of playing outside for a meal that will continue to spoil you rotten. The eating area is also inside, but sits separately from the kitchen allowing for that relaxed living room feel that screams comfort. Even the flies buzzing around will make you feel like you are sitting on the front porch in the country. Lone Star beer in the can and a large, help yourself to lemonade tap add to that homey ambiance. My preference was to indulge in the coconut lime soda made at Twisted Root. They make Texan beer and about eight different sodas. Apparently the soda recipes get changed frequently, so you can try something new each time. This is a burger joint with an interesting selection of wild meat options including boar and bison. Even vegetarians can find something to their liking with a black bean patty or a mushroom "burger". Everything is served hot and sloppy on individual cardboard trays, so no one has to spend time doing the dishes. Before your meal comes, grab a variety of sliced pickles, plop down on a keg stool while enjoying UT wallop OU. Or, belly up to the bar if you are on the losing team and have the bartender fix you a stiff concoction from their full bar. As soon as you take a bite of your burger, you will forget your worries and be be elated that you came.
