This Island Is One of the Best Places to Celebrate Christmas in the South—With Palm Trees, Beaches, and Holiday Festivities

"I find it just steps from the ocean at the end of Tybrisa Street; this scenic pier sits near the town Christmas tree at the roundabout, and it's where the Jan. 1 polar plunge sets off into the cold Atlantic Ocean." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Nice pier and pavilion that is clean and fun to go down to the end. It was extremely windy and cold the day we visited but it was still nice to walk out on the Tybee Pier and look at the beach and the ocean. I was a little surprised by how many people were out and about due to the wind and the cold! The pier provides a fun, scenic, and accessible experience for a casual stroll or a break from the sun. We saw a lone dolphin swimming and hunting for fish nearby too!

There is something about walking out on a pier into the crashing ocean. Absolutely magical. Although this pier could use some new deck boards and it looks like it is getting them slowly. Its still a wonderful spot.

The Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion is always one of our favorite places to visit when we’re on the island. It’s a fun and relaxing place to walk, enjoy the ocean views, and people-watch. There are little stands where you can grab food or drinks (just a heads up—many are cash only, so come prepared!). This time was especially memorable because I actually got stung by a stingray for the first time ever. We walked over to the First Aid Station at the pier, and the staff there were so helpful and kind. They let us use their vinegar spray on my ankle, and it brought almost immediate relief. I was so thankful they were there and knew exactly what to do. The whole area is well-maintained, there’s seating, shade, and the beach access is super close by. Whether you’re fishing, taking photos, or just soaking in the sea breeze, this is a spot worth visiting. We always end up having such a great time here and can’t wait to come back!

The location was great but there was a few different issues that i had . For a gated apartment only 1 gate works the other one was broke and busted it was always opened . So u or anyone could come and go as u pleased. For the price i paid i thought it would better maintained. Whoever is the clearer of these apartments really need tobe trained better. The sink was full of ice when we arrived empty water bottles under the fridge. Sink and showers was very dirty . Found multiple bugs some dead and few still alive. All the photos was took b4 we ever even got unpacked.

Tybee Island is such a beautiful and happening place! 🌊✨ The beach vibes are amazing, with clean sand, clear water, and a relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of cute shops, great restaurants, and fun activities around. Perfect for a weekend getaway with family or friends. Highly recommend visiting if you want a mix of relaxation and excitem

Thai place is very nice. A beautiful pier with lots of fishing at the end of it. They have spaces to buy drinks. Both for adults and children. There is a small ice cream shop also. The pavilion is huge and open to the public. The beach is nice and clean with a decent shorepound for you skimboarders out there. I love this place. Very family friendly very wholesome. Go check em out

First time we visited the pier. A few venders under roof. Access to the beach and lots of people fishing. Great view up and down the coast. Seating is available.

Went near sunset, just before a rainstorm hit, and it was beautiful! Fairly quiet and quite relaxing at the time. Will be visiting again and spending more time enjoying the beach and pier.

Yelp
Tony Vanoy and I was on the oceanfront and pier at Tybee Island in GA! The tide was up and not much beach area! It was crowded! The pier is FREE to walk on but parking is $4 per hour.
