Google
We chose Tyrolean Lodge for our one-night stay in Aspen because it seemed to be the only reasonably priced accommodation in town. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the lodge! The staff is very kind and welcoming. The lodge is conveniently located in easy walking distance to restaurants/shops and is close to a bus stop. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Mattress was comfy enough. They were nice enough to supply ear plugs, which did come in handy as there were a handful of loud cars zooming by overnight. The only downside is: the bathroom was stocked with body wash and shampoo but no conditioner or body lotion, which I was counting on them having!

AMAZING! The best staff and customer service. Thank you for keeping the original Aspen vibes alive. Don and all of the management were incredible. Working with me on trip changes- (love the reservation flexibility) - Giving local insider recommendations. Great attitude. Clean rooms. perfect location. The free bikes and snacks are a HUGE bonus. Praying this place never changes like the rest of Aspen. Feels like home. Nice change from the jerks in Los Angeles. WIll be back. - note the rooms are super clean and location is great as are staff. Some traffic noise but dies down at night and earplugs provided. I am a very light sleeper and slept well. Not a fancy place but the best value in Aspen by far. Really surprised how clean the rooms were and brand new carpet!

We had a very cute and nicely designed room. Bathroom was very clean and the water pressure was great. The staff were very kind. We enjoyed our stay there a lot. The location is great, very walkable. They also have bikes you can borrow for free:)

Google
Our group had a great stay at Tyrolean Lodge! The staff was very friendly and helpful!! The rooms had plenty of space and were well thought out to ensure it was comfortable for 5 people. We loved being able to walk downtown and access all of the mountains easily!

Google
It is a motel type building with two stories, with access via stairways that are exterior but covered. Parking is convenient on the street directly in front of the rooms, but it's a scramble to find a spot. The first couple nights I had to park on the street across from the lodge, but then occupancy dropped after the weekend and I was able to find a spot in front of the lodge. Apparently this is a chronic problem throughout Aspen. The room was very spacious and very nice, with two queen beds and a twin. The bathroom has been recently remodeled and is very nice. However, the shower and the sink do not drain well. There's a strange, fake fireplace hanging on the wall. There's a small desk and a table with chairs. There's also a kitchenette with microwave refrigerator sink cooktop. There's also a closet. Altogether, a lovely room in a very pretty town.

Google
Dont book here. I scheduled a trip in may and have reserve 2 rooms. I called in to pay remaining balance for my trip but when I notice 2 people only was showing on my reservation instead of 6 for 2 rooms they told me extra charges for. extra people. Front staff Jeff is not helpful and very rude. If you are going to Aspen do not book on this hotel at all.

Google
Loved our stay at the Tyrolean Lodge. If you are lucky enough to snag a reservation do not hesitate to stay there. The room was huge and 100% immaculate. The very best part is that hey have a kitchenette equipped with everything you need! We made breakfast in our room for 2 days. The refrigerator is bigger than in most hotels. Plenty of plugs to charge your devices. We didn't find the street noise or noise from adjoining rooms a problem at all- like some reviews mentioned. The office staff is super friendly and even have snacks and tea/coffee there. Will definitely book again!

Google
Very good location and very good value- for Aspen. |The motel is very kitsch. It’s a vintage throw back. |Our room was large. The beds were comfortable. There was a retro fireplace that gave me and my husband a chuckle. |The do supply earplugs and you may need them because of the busy main road. |My husband checked us in and commented on how friendly the guy at reception was.|Parking was nice and easy right outside the door

Yelp
Our stay at the Tyrolean Lodge was nice. Room was very clean with a fridge, stovetop and microwave. There were 2 queen beds and 1 single. It was one big room with a table and 3 chairs, closet, tv and dresser. I would suggest a higher floor to get away from the noise from the above neighbors. We especially liked being in the one room because it gave off the "family vibe". It was myself, son, grandson and sons girlfriend. We called it our "Walton Family Getaway." We would definately go back to stay in the future. The owner was friendly and so was the staff. My only complaint would be the noise from neighbors and the entry door was like a bedroom door. A little to flimsy for my taste. This would be the reason for only 4 stars.

Yelp
RAW SEWAGE, NO REFUND Upon returning to our room after dinner, we noticed a slightly bad smell. We had figured it was a faint dumpster smell and dealt with it. We took showers, but after getting out noticed the incredibly strong smell of RAW HUMAN SEWAGE pouring into our room from the sink in the small kitchen area. The little kitchen area in these rooms backs up to the bathroom and, after reading through the other reviews, there are apparently major plumbing issues. I called the after hours number: Manager: Yeah? Me: Hi, there is a terrible human sewage smell pouring into our room from the sink, is there another room we can be moved to? Manager: (annoyed and not at all surprised) No, we're sold out, if you talk the the person at the front desk in the morning he'll hook you up. Me: So we're just supposed to sleep in this poop room? Manager: (laughs) Unless you have a better idea... Me: Oh thanks, what's your name? Manager: Tells me his name and hangs up on me. So now we start packing up, trying to hold our breath, frazzled that we are wet and having to leave in the night. Then the manager calls back and says that he found us a room to stay in, if I wanted it, at another hotel and that I needed to come to the office in 5 minutes to pick up the new reservation info. So now I get to stand there with my soaking wet toddler and watch him pout and sigh because this is interrupting HIS night. I never received a word of apology or an ounce of friendliness or professionalism, just extremely casual annoyance. So now we leave to head to another hotel down the street. It was in much worse shape physically (old carpets, stained walls, etc.) but it was clean and the staff were really nice. The next morning I called to see if we would receive any of our payment refunded, since we were forced to move in the middle of the night and it was a poor, traumatic experience altogether. The older gentleman working the front desk in the morning was professional and pleasant, and said he would need to ask the owner but would get back to me. Later that day I received an email that they had decided, after speaking with the front desk manager, that since I had "declined to leave and receive a refund the night before" and because "they had paid" for our room at the other hotel, they wouldn't be giving me any refund for our trouble. At no point whatsoever had I been offered or declined a refund the night before, this was an outright lie. When you would rather stick it to a family whose evening/vacation was ruined rather than refund $50 (of their $175 rate) and offer to buy them breakfast, your karma is going to take a turn. I hope all these refunds you are withholding from people are worth the reviews you are getting. We have stayed in 5 other hotels in Aspen (Mountain Chalet Aspen, Hotel Aspen, Molly Gibson Lodge, The Limelight and Aspen Mountain Lodge) over the past decade of living in a neighboring town and this was our only bad experience. Never again!

Yelp
Affordable place to stay in aspen. Walls are thin. We were right above the office and the walking and banging starts at 7am. Sounds like moving furniture up there. They supply ear plugs, but for 300+ a night I would rather not have to sleep with earplugs that probably won't stay in my ears while I'm trying to sleep.

Yelp
The nicest staff ever! Jim went the extra mile to make sure we got everything we were looking for! I'll definitely be going back! Thank you, Jim!

Yelp
VERY friendly and accommodating staff. You do have a kitchenette, but it is very small! It is 3 stories, but there is no elevator. Even for the first floor, there are steps. You actually have to walk down 1/2 flight stairs to get to 1st floor. I recommend the 2nd floor; that is where the office is. You will need to walk 1/2 flight of stairs to get to the 2nd floor. We got the 3rd floor and paid extra for a "view". There was no view. In fact, we had to look at the building under demolition next to us. I don't recommend the 3rd floor, unless you get unit 301. Unit 301 is the only one that has a view. The office is open 24 hours, and they have coffee and a couple other little things. The coffee is a k-cup type, and they actually have pods of decaf! And it's delicious! We will stay here again, but we will get 2nd floor or room 301.

Yelp
While the place was cute and quaint and stocked well, we lost power due to a fuse blowing while using the microwave. We called the desk but since it was after 12, they said there was nothing they could do and would send someone in the morning. We went to bed with no power, woke up with no power and waited for someone to help. We decided to checkout early, only to find no one had been notified of our power outage. We were offered no compensation or discount and spent over 8 hours with no power! Just horrible service and we won't be back

Yelp
Price / quality rating 2. I booked this place 6 months ago. Nowhere did I see that the room I would be given was subterranean. The bathroom window is at street level, and though frosted, the window is pretty useless as one cannot open it, or anyone walking by can see right in. The bedroom window is at yard level, and if the shade is not completely pulled down, anyone walking by can easily clearly see into the bedroom area. Zero privacy. It appears that 1/3 of their rooms suffer the same defects. The room is damp, which can cause a toxic mold problem, and the decor is about as nice as a college kid's apartment, with mismatched furnishings and poor taste The tv is mounted on a wall next to the beds, so you have to lay across the bed to watch it. To top it all off, it's the middle of July, and the a/c isn't cooling the room even with the thermostat tuned down to 40. Extraordinarily limited parking, so plan on walking and carrying your luggage a good distance. In addition, it's nowhere near the ski area. Did I mention that the tap water here tastes like it came off the roof? I will book elsewhere my next visit to Aspen.

Yelp
I called last season well in advance to cancel reservation due to my daughter breaking her arm. I spoke to someone on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem to keep reservation on file to use the next season when my daughter could ski. I was told the third party was to call to verify. I was put on hold while the third party called (Expedia) to okay everything. I was told everything was all set on both ends. Now (the following season) I went to use my credit and they can't find me on file no record of anything and apparently it's now Expedia's problem not theirs. Lost a bunch of money & front desk basically said that I cancelled out of the timeline for refunds. Not true. My word against theirs but they didn't even offer up a discount or maybe a free night for the "mix up" knowing full well I needed another reservation. If you cancel, be fully aware that you most likely will be screwed, I was.

Yelp
Cute, affordable and helpful staff! Really loved staying here. Very nice bathroom and amenities. Jim, the front desk clerk, was so nice and had great recommendations for Aspen! Thank you. :)

Yelp
Stayed here for a second time in Sept of 2017 on another motorcycle trip. Still love this place and it is the best deal for a room in town. Has a small kitchen and large and comfortable rooms. We will be back when we visit Aspen. This place is not high end but it is nice and clean.

Yelp
The location is perfect, right near downtown and within walking distance of a bunch of shops and restaurants. The ski lodge theme was very cute and I imagine it must be popular in the winter time. The room was clean and cozy. The one odd thing was that they gave you ear plugs for the noise and told you not to call the front desk about any noise complaints. Luckily it wasn't too noisy and we didn't need the ear plugs. The reason this lodge gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price. We paid $205 for ONE night in the summer, which seemed a bit extreme. I get the location is desirable but I wouldn't say it was worth $205 for one night.

Yelp
We ended up at the lodge basically because everywhere else was full...it was a prime leaf peeping weekend in the Aspen area. We aren't terribly fussy when it comes to places to sleep because in the end, they're just that - places to sleep. The front desk was great - very nice lady working there who was very happy and helpful. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms/fridge/etc work fine. The location of the lodge is also perfect - just a quick 5min walk to the center of town, walking mall, restaurants, etc. My complaints are as follows: uncomfortable beds/pillows, and little to no sound proofing between floors and the outdoors. They provide you with a little jar of earplugs, and that basically says it all. I did appreciate them though. I definitely could not have slept without them. Between the road noise and the constant noise of footsteps above me (we were on the 2nd of 3 levels), we were lucky to get any sleep at all. I honestly don't think that we will be back because in the end, I am paying for a place to sleep...and that was hard to come by. If you are a hard sleeper this really shouldn't be an issue.

Yelp
relatively inexpensive, "ski-dorm-style" building, but quite nice rooms, friendly staff, conveniently located a find

Yelp
My friend and I booked a room here last weekend for a quick get away - we loved it. The price was fair and we loved our room. Spacious, cute and comfy. Would definitely stay here again :) front desk guy was super friendly as well as the cleaning staff.

Yelp
If you want to do Aspen on a budget the Tyrolean is the way to go! We stayed here for about $65 a night and it was exactly what we needed. Every room has two queen beds and a twin size, an updated bathroom, mini fridge, and a stove top. The manager (David) is extremely friendly and helpful. He knew everything about where to go and eat in Aspen. The Tyrolean is right on Main Street Aspen so you are just blocks away from great restaurants, shops, and the main attraction (in April at least) Belly Up! This is an absolutely adorable old motel - a great value in an extremely expensive city. I will be back!

Jim O.

Yelp
Before staying at the Tyrolean Lodge, I knew it wasn't lavish - just a place to sleep. But its central Aspen location and relatively affordable rate (it wasn't inexpensive) convinced me to rent a room. What I didn't expect after I checked in was floors that transmit the smallest noises to the rooms below. Nor did I expect the family of small kids arriving at 11:30 PM in the room above me, jumping and running around non-stop until midnight, when I finally decided to send the parents a hint by banging on the ceiling. That's something I've never had to do in over 40 years of extensive business and personal travel. In the morning, I noticed a jar of disposable ear plugs on the shelf in my room. Clearly, the management is aware of the problem. I would never recommend this property to anyone.

Yelp
I usually stay in Snowmass but if I ever stayed in Aspen again, this is where I would stay. To go over my hotel checklist: Clean ~ definitely...no question of whether I should stick my feet into the sheets or not. Affordable ~ in Aspen, this place is definitely affordable Convenient ~ it was a quick walk to the main part of Aspen. We were easily able to get to the free concerts in Aspen and to the Belly Up. Added bonus was the nice gentleman working there. We had some very mundane conversations but I liked it.

Yelp
First, I have to say I have not stayed here. I booked in early February for a wedding in July. Had to cancel because of Covid 19. When I talked to someone on the phone about confirming my cancellation they were very nice and polite. They did not give me a full refund, even with the pandemic going on, beware!

Martha D.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here for a little over a week in late July. Comfortable and clean room. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Great central location -- you can easily walk to so many restaurants, a park, the Aspen Music Festival etc. Would definitely stay here again.

Vta N.

Yelp
Great stay, nice rooms with kitchenette and full set of utensils. Good location. Only problem is that checkout has to be at 11am since they have small window to cleanup the room.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I recently stayed (2) nights during the busiest time of the year here - New Years Eve and New Years Day before changing hotels to be closer to the mountain. DISCLAMER: Yes it's old, but it's awesome. Not to mention, it's a great deal. The location is on MAIN street which is a simple 5-10min walk to the center of town. Also, Main street is the "main" road where the FREE shuttle buses travel to pick passengers up to head out of town to Buttermilk, Snowmass, Highland Mt (which are 10-20mins away). I highly recommend staying here for ONE or TWO nights, acclimate yourself with town, talk to locals - then, move a few blocks up to another property in the center of town. Be prepared, prices for hotels near the mountain are about double, some triple the amount of Tyrolean. Lastly, the owner is super friendly & funny. So, don't be rude & take a few secs to engage in conversation with him. Have fun!! Barry Washington, DC

Yelp
As our first time in Aspen, my fiance and I decided to stay at this hotel because of its cheap prices. We were very happy with our stay! The room is nothing special, just a simple room with some pretty hard beds, but also has kitchenware, a stove microwave, utensils, etc. etc. So that was good to cook and save money instead of going out. The location is great- just a simple walk away from the main square. When we left, we realized we had left our beer in the fridge and our pillows on the bed! We turned around and the man at the front desk said he didn't see anything. haha! Oh well, I hope he had a good time :) I will definitely stay here again if we go to Aspen again!

Yelp
Good location, low price, kitchen, nice desk guy, clean, locally owned. What more do you want?

Yanhua P.

Yelp
This is the first hotel we stayed at in Downtown Aspen. The price was really reasonable and the room was large. We love the kitchen and plenty of place to hang/store our stuff. The fridge came handy if you want to bring drinks. There was limited number of parking spots, but the hotel staff ensured we have a place to put our car. The only thing we wish the hotel to have is a hot tub, but I guess there's really no space around to put it. The location is great, only a few blocks walk to all the restaurants and bars. Bus stops to other Aspen ski areas are within a couple of blocks. It is right on Main Street, so if you open the window you can hear street noise, but we had no problem sleeping through the night.

Yelp
Cheap, excellent three bed single room worked perfectly fine for our accommodation for the recent Umphrey's McGee concert.

Yelp
I was on the fence about this place, as it looked like a motel of sorts. However, after we woke up refreshed the next morning, made a full breakfast in our room kitchen, and took a shower, I love the Tyrolean Lodge! The decor throughout the lodge will just tickle you stupid with how cute it is. Skiing and winter gear from the ages nailed about. The rooms can accommodate up to 5 people, so my fiancé and I had an absurd amount of room. The prices in the off-season are extremely reasonable, but the owners are just swell people. I met the owners, we talked a lot, and I conversed with a manager; I tell you, if you're visiting this cute - albeit wildly expensive - town of Aspen, take comfort that amidst the Prada, Versace, Rolex, and Clarks grocery with revolving chrome barrel of ice cream, a true epitome of comfort lodging still operates for a song in the middle of a town of superlative opulence: The Tyrolean Lodge. Whether you're a group or a couple, this place is clean, quiet, and has ample amenities to ensure that you feel at home away from home - the overtly hospitable owners and managers were exactly what you would want in an unfamiliar and new place. I'll definitely be back for a Ski trip soon, and I'm glad I stayed. The city provides free taxis to the downtown area for heaven's sakes! Check it out, and trust me, you'll like it. Also, check out the farmers market on Saturdays around town, and take a trip to Maroon Bells!

Yelp
Awesome. The hotel operator is great and a huge help with everything. It's a nice quaint place, kind of like your grandfathers cabin or basement. Super fair on price and everything is in walking distance. The bus stop is also right outside so that's nice. I go up to Aspen every year and have stayed with these guys 4 years in a row!

Brett A.

Yelp
I don't usually leave reviews but this is one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed in and am torn on this review. Too many good reviews and the place will be too full to stay there again. Ha really really cool place and there is a full kitchen and floating chiminea in our room. Very friendly on the budget as well.
