Uccelino was delicious !! We went here on a date night and had the multiple course feature dinner. They were extremely accommodating and I did not have to miss out on anything. The one dish I couldn't have, my partner said the Gluten free pasta option was almost better than his! Everything was fresh, authentic and crafted with care. The employees were all very nice too. Will definitely be coming back here after hitting the gym.

Wow! My husband and I came to this restaurant for the first time, and it was truly amazing! The atmosphere was modern and upbeat, which we loved. Our server, Stacy, was absolutely fabulous - friendly, inviting, and kind! We decided to be adventurous and try the tasting menu, and we were so glad we did! Everything we tasted was a perfect 10 out of 10 - it was all so delicious! Plus, we got to try a lot of different dishes that we probably wouldn't have ordered off the menu on our own. We highly recommend the tasting menu and want to give a big shout-out to Stacy, who made our visit so memorable. We will definitely be back!

What a yummy placed filled with variety of appetizers and delicious choices of pasta. SO GOOD! Highly recommend this wonderful place. Honestly such a great positive vibe and the attentiveness of the kind hardworking waiters are truly on point. Go try it, have fun (:

Absolutely perfect. The attention to detail in the food shows the level they are at. Everything on the plate is intentional and essential. Not many places have this understanding. The level of cooking here is incredibly high. Service is subtle and gracious, not overbearing. I can not say enough regarding how much respect I have for the team at Uccellino. For their true understanding of food, ingredients, seasons, and pure cooking ability. Thank you very much, Bradley Anderson

This was our first time visiting Uccellino restaurant. Everything we tasted was 10 out of 10 - quality and presentation of each dish was perfect. Our server was absolutely fabulous - friendly, inviting, and kind! We will definitely be back!

Amazing Italian food. Well thought out menu. Edit: We came back here again as we were back in the city. Food continues to be top quality with a succinct menu. We thoroughly enjoyed their pasta selection along with the roasted chicken and salad we ordered. Of note, they do not have high chairs and so if you bring a little one, make sure you have your own booster seat on hand.

My brother gave me a gift card for my 50th bday... so decided to treat me and my friends. Upon entering, if you don't pay attention, you'll miss the front entrance... luckily we were able to find street parking...The decor is very minimal and modern, didn't realize there was an upstairs dining area as well... they have an extensive drink and wine menu but we stuck to water lol ... our server was very nice and knew the menu well... we shared the arancini appetizer and they were so good! I had the cacio e pepe, it was rich as our server had mentioned...however, I felt for $30, the dish could've had more! It's definitely a great place to go on a date or after work meal.

Google
As a first-time visitor, I was disappointed by the excessive amount of salt in each dish. While each item tasted great, we all felt that everything was overly salted. From the arancini balls to the pasta, we couldn’t finish our meals because we were too full from drinking the water after every bite. Service was great though and we would visit again (as long as they don’t over salt)!

Yelp
Uccellino! This was my first time dining here, and I will most certainly be back. I've had the pleasure of dining at Bar Bricco and Corso, and all have been a great experience. But Uccellino takes the cake. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we rolled ourselves out the door every moment was perfect. The Space... Modern decor with a clean uncluttered space, Uccellino is very pleasing on the eye. Acoustics and music were just so, allowing for conversation to be without having to raise your voice or ask your guests to repeat themselves. The food... Oh the food! I wish I had the chance to order everything. Every morsel was heavenly. We were a party of 4 and had 5 Antipasti; the Olives, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Charred Cabbage, Culatello and the Carpaccio. I honestly could not pick a favourite. For our Primi and Secondi we enjoyed the Agnolotti, Cacio e Pepe and the Bistecca with crispy potatoes. Again, everything was a 10/10. And to finish our meal, we had every dessert. The service... Our server Denise was an absolute gem. Timing every course perfectly and always being attentive to our needs without hovering. From suggesting wines that paired perfectly with each course when we were humming and ha-ing between a few to treating us to some delicious Lemoncello to end our evening. A perfect 10 all around. My only regret was not taking more pics to share how great everything looked.

Yelp
Had reservations on a busy weekend. We were seated right away and the service was excellent the whole meal long. The brick chicken and the panzanella were outstanding. The appetizer with the cheese on toast was so much more flavorful than cheese on toast should be. Our companions had a pasta dish with sausage and it was amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a favorite to return to often. I like that the bartender just works on drinks for servers and there aren't patrons directly ordering drinks from him to slow the service.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to enjoy the tasting menu at Uccellino after a long day of meetings. It was the perfect way to unwind, slow down and recover from the day. I started the meal with the Don Vito cocktail, a spirit forward sweet concoction of Cognac, Bourbon and Limoncello. Immediately felt like it set the perfect tone for dinner. The tasting menu started with four appetizers, the Arancini, Goat Ricotta Crostini, Insalata Siciliana and the Culatello. My favorite was the arancini as it was packed full of melty cheese with so much flavor. The culatello was a crowd favorite and the crostini was a great palate cleanser. For secondi we had the Truffle Gnudi and Paccheri. For people who like meaty flavors go with the paccheri, but I liked the light cheese and truffle of the gnudi. By the time the Pollo Al Mattone came around, I could only manage a mouthful of the succulent brick chicken and the fresh cabbage salad as I was so full and would need to be rolled out of the restaurant. We ended with the Chocolate Budino, which was dark, creamy and delicious. A great tasting menu at a great price, especially compared to Toronto prices!

Yelp
I feel it's a bit challenging to rate this business. I start with things I didn't like much and end with positives: The place was very very noisy! It felt like a busy bar during an important hockey game! The lighting was not the best and it was affecting the ambiance and vibe of the business! These two items bothered me a bit! The staff was nice and helpful and pretty efficient! The food quality, the taste and the presentation were all really good! I loved them all! The wine our friend ordered was really good and overall I enjoyed our food and drink a lot. I think this business has room for improvement! However I'll still go back there as it is!

Yelp
So this place always puts out amazing food. The tasting menu is really best bang for your buck where you can sample a whole lot of dishes for 95 dollars and you leave absolutely stuffed. This was our tasting menu: Arancini Cacio e Pepe Roman Pecorino & Black Pepper House-made Goat Ricotta Crostini Rosemary Oil & Maldon Sea Salt Wagyu Beef Carpaccio Marrow Aioli, Fried Capers, Celery Heart, Parsley, Black Pepper& Parmigiano Reggiano Escarole Salad Pear, Roasted Almonds, Sunchokes, Pecorino Principe & House-made Quince Vinegar Paccheri House-made Pork & Fennel Sausage Sugo, Basil & Pecorino Romano Tagliatelle L'Ancetre Butter, Sage & Parmigiano Reggiano Sablefish Roasted & Pureed Cauliflower, Taggiasca Olives, Capers, Pine Nuts & Gremolata Chocolate Budino Whipped Creme Fraiche Everything was amazing. The arancini was flavourful and perfectly cooked, gooey with cheese and decadent. The ricotta was devine and rich. The carpaccio was flavoured lovely with the addition to the fried capers. The Escarole salad was fresh and delightful and a great palate cleanser for the next few dishes. the Paccheri had so many rich deep flavours. The sausage was hightened by the fennel. The tagliatelle was bright and chewy with great flavours. The sablefish was tender and flaked with the fork and the cauliflower matched it's richness. To finish the chocolate budino was dense, and sweet and a great ending to the meal. I loved all the dishes that were presented but my favourite was the ricotta cheese, paccheri, and the sablefish. But I would order everything again. Service was good and atmosphere was lovely.

Yelp
The hottest restaurant in Edmonton? That's Uccellino. When it comes to the top Italian cuisine experience in the city (or fine dining in general) there is no better. Accolade upon accolade, Edmonton's Connor McDavid (the best hockey player on planet Earth?) even recently named Uccellino as one of his favourite restaurants in town. (He also said that Edmonton has a really good restaurant scene that is super underrated and I couldn't agree more.) With chef and owner Daniel Costa at the helm, Uccellino has landed on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants list three times; #75 in 2017, #59 in 2018, and #95 in 2019. enRoute magazine had them as a Canada's Best New Restaurants 2016 nominee. They were voted as #1 Best Pasta 2018 in VUE Weekly and named as a Favourite Place to Take a Tourist on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list. And of course, most recently, EDify Magazine placed Uccellino as the Best Overall Restaurant 2023. I can think of no other restaurant in this city with a stack of notoriety as high. Uccellino has been on fire since their opening in 2016. I can't believe that it took me as long as it did for me to finally make a reservation (a must) and get myself in their door. It happened on a Saturday evening and the two-storey dining space was filled to capacity. One third of the Corso 32/Bar Bricco/Uccellino trifecta, all three restaurants are located in a sleek row Downtown. Inside, the bar is the focal point of the small space and the paint-by-number mural of the Italian campagna is striking yet subtle (this imagery is carried forth onto the menu). White marble accented by charcoal textiles and a breath of turquoise creates a modern, polished atmosphere. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly, effortlessly whisking us through various cocktails and from course to course. Cocktails. The first order of business. The menu is fairly concise with five options to choose from, each one oozing with confidence and expertise. The favourite at my table quickly became the Zenzero Highball but I had to try the White Negroni (Tanqueray Gin, Nonino L'Aperitivo, Amaro Erborista, Carpano Bianco Vermouth, Ulrich Extra Dry Vermouth, rosemary lavender bitters, cucumber - $15.00) because as I've previously stated, a negroni paired with Italian food is an ideal combination in my opinion. Served in a lowball glass, the beverage looked simple enough. However, this may have been the best negroni that I have ever tasted. Ultra clean in flavour and finish, the drink captured the desired bitterness that compliments Italian food so well and did so with finesse. Right down to the tall slice of cucumber that rounded out the aromatic sensory experience with every sip. Little moments like these - a well-made cocktail - are so special. The food menu is broken into four sections (Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, and Dolce) and I have heard that for the best experience it is advisable to order something from each. There is also a Tasting Menu on offer and at $95 per person it actually sounds quite reasonable. I didn't have the tasting menu on this visit but would certainly love to do so on a future visit. Aiming to be a contemporary trattoria serving seasonal Italian dishes, the menu at Uccellino is traditional in its structure and modern in its execution. First to arrive was the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio (Marrow aioli, fried capers, celery heart, parsley, black pepper & Parmigiano Reggiano - $23.00) with Brio Bakery bread ($3.00) added. Paper-thin slices of beautifully marbled wagyu decorated the plate with an abstract expressionist use of ingredients on top. Viewed as the most high-end beef experience in the world, the wagyu was buttery smooth. Piled onto a piece of toasty bread, the marrow aioli and crispy fried capers certainly caught my attention and I loved how unctuous and expertly seasoned this dish was. There were hints of salt just where I wanted them and this plate could be described as nothing other than a work of art. Next, our server told us about an Antipasti feature for the night that we immediately ordered; the Burrata Special ($24.00). You had me at burrata. Fresh, simple, minimal ingredients. This dish might have been the embodiment of Italian cuisine. Ripples of deep pink prosciutto covered the plate like a salty-cured nest with a generous ball of burrata cheese in its center. For a mild cheese burrata certainly feels indulgent. The outer casing is solid, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream, giving it a soft, luxurious texture. This is the kind of dish that you could live off of and you would never be unhappy. I kept hearing rave reviews about the crostini which surprised me in a way. What could they possibly be doing with slices of bread that was so incredible? I had to find out and ordered the House-made Goat Ricotta Crostini (Rosemary oil & Maldon sea salt - $14.00 for 3). I believe that this is treated as a seasonal item where the ingredients used often change. Wow. A thick layer of whipped ricotta was

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner! My mother brought me for the $95 tasting menu! We reserved to ensure we had a table, reservation for 5:30PM (and we were out at 7:30PM). Street parking available but stressful. There was underground parking for $5/hour but the one I wanted was full so I panicked and circled the block until I found 2 hour street parking. Service was spectacular, it was not the same waiter who delivered the next course but our waiter came to check in all the time and our waters were refilled almost every 7 minutes! Staff were happy to box up uneaten courses. We felt very taken care of. We also tried the drink special - strawberry bellini (vermouth, strawberry puree, and rum I think) 10/10 not too strong, very fruit and a Great palate cleanser (very appreciated after all the goat cheese). Courses: Wagyu Beef Carpaccio - 7/10. A little weird as it looks and taste like raw thinly sliced beef. Decent flavor. Escarole Salad - 9/10, good dressing, good flavor, lots of textures which I like. Arancini Cacio e Pepe - Too much goat cheese for me 5/10 but my mother thought this was the Best course so really shows it is personal preference. House made Goat Ricotta Crostini - Both me and my mother were not fond of the Goat Ricotta and found the crostini too cooked/dry. 4/10. Truffle Ricotta Gnudi - I think they said it was goat ricotta so again not my preference. But the concept was really cool (cheese in dough ball) and texture great. Arugula is too strong of flavor for me as well. 5/10. Paccheri - A touch spicy which was nice to change things up a bit. Pasta was chewy which we were warned that is how it is Supposed to taste but really tastes like undercooked pasta. 7/10. Pollo Al Mattone - 10/10 best dish in my opinion. Chicken skin was so crisp, chicken was very moist, but perhaps a little bland. Green sauce on the bottom was light and refreshing. Fennel salad was better than I expected 8/10, probably would not order on its own but goes great with the chicken. My dessert was Choclate Budino with a birthday candle on the plate. Soo rich, glad I alternated bites with my mother's cake as it would have been too rich to eat alone! 9/10 - too rich for me, needed some fruit or something acidic to cut the richness. But not too sweet. My mother's dessert was the Olive Oil Cake with a scoop of ice cream. 10/10, light flavor, ice cream was perfect accompaniment. If you take the current menu and order all these items it is $215. I think we got 50% of a normal serving (between the both of us) for most of the dishes but some like the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio and maybe even the Pollo Al Mattone were full sized. A minus star would be the noise. At 5:30PM great no problem. But by 7:30 it was soooo incredibly loud/noisy I could not even converse with my tablemate. There was a rowdy group of 50-60 year old woman 2 bottles of wine deep by then at the table right next to us to that did not help. Glad we went early so we enjoyed Most of our meal at a reasonable noise level. Overall a cool experience I personally think was worth it for a very special occasion.

Yelp
Spectacular service. Maybe the best I've had. Suggestive. Never wanted for anything. Never waited. Never left feeling anything but good. Apps: Beef Carpaccio & Arancini Normally I dislike the latter but they were excellent here. And piping hot. The bread with the beef carpaccio was realllly good. The carpaccio? Perfect. Not too salty. Shocking. Delish. They recommended the ravioli. Ummmm. Wow. Definitely a treat as it's very rich. But I promise your mouth will water. Sooo good. Red wine. Definitely good, but not exceptional. Did I mention the service. Doesn't matter. Again. Best.

Yelp
We were big fans of Corso 32 and did really want to like Uccellino. Overall it's a disappointment. The venue is noisy making it hard to hold a conversation. Even hearing the server was a challenge. The food is very heavy and clumsy. The dishes lack subtlety and are too fatty, oily and rich. We'll just have to enjoy the memory of Corso
google avatar

Yelp
We went in for the tasting menu which was $95 without drinks. It was pleasantly filling as they provide you quite a bit of food. The salad and Appys was on one plate so you had to share but the rest of the dishes were split individually for you. The best part was the homemade pasta! As always they are busy so reservations are a must

Yelp
For Uccellino fans, this month's tasting menu features osso bucco! Spring salads, house made ricotta on toast, beautiful ricotta gnocchi w spring ramps. Yum! Pecchari has fennel sausage. And a beautiful flourless chocolate cake- dense and decadent or a citrus olive oil cake. Always excellent. My happy place.

T Q.

Yelp
Uccellino is delicious. I'd go every night to eat the homemade ricotta on toast. This time was not as good as the first time unfortunately. We went having high expectations, so they had a lot to live up to, but the gnocchi was too salty (and I LOVE salt), I felt we were being rushed through, and it was so loud we had to shout at each other at a table for 2. Hopefully the new location is so obnoxiously loud. The 4 stars are for the ricotta, and the chocolate cake.
google avatar

Yelp
After being here three times, I can confidentially say this place consistently delivers delicious Italian food. I could eat here every month and probably never get bored of it.

Yelp
The food is absolutely incredible. I come to Uccellino for a lot of special occasions, and the food and service is spot on every single time. Pasta has that bite that you expect from perfectly cooked and properly made pasta. We always get the whipped ricotta and the tagliatelle - highly recommend! You will be addicted too! Also, for anyone worried like I was, Corso is coming back, they are just undergoing renovations!

Jan L.

Yelp
Uccellino To Go is so good. Easy to order online through their website. The food is marvellous. Love the charred cabbage, arancini, fusilli, half chicken, and paccheri. The chocolate budino is amazing too.

Brad A.

Yelp
Great food and service. Will be back. They couldn't answer all the questions about what kinds of rye they had but the food made up for it !
google avatar

Aleshia A.

Yelp
Awesome food! Really really awesome! Lovely presentation. The house made goat ricotta is worth the trip alone...seriously. Friendly attentive staff. My only criticism would be that the atmosphere and vibe feels a bit aloof. But back to the ricotta...order 2 of those...you won't regret it.

Yelp
This was a top notch dining experience. From the delicious cocktails, the attentive staff and the outstanding food, we left very satisfied and thrilled we finally were able to try Uccellino. This goes on our permanent rotation list for sure! Starters were arancini and Waygu carpaccio (soooo melt in your mouth). For mains we had the ricotta gnocchi with truffle sauce (so light and fluffy) and the pork and fennel sausage Ragu. For dessert we had the chocolate budino (omg where have you been all my life). Cocktails were aperol spritz, paper plane and a Negroni. Everything was 5/5 and I would absolutely get again and/or recommend. I also had a balsamic soda drink (no alcohol) which was tremendous and served in a tumbler with a mint sprig. Tables are placed the appropriate distance apart. Staff wear masks. The staff are excellent and you are never left waiting. You can make a reservation online, which I recommend doing a few days in advance as by about 6/6:30 every table was full. We will be back!

Yelp
It was my hubby's birthday so this was his choice and it was such a wonderful evening. From the wine, to the server and of course the amazing food. We started with the Arancini which were outstanding, the house-made goat ricotta crostini was out of this world good, next up was the tagliatelle pasta just melted in your mouth , up next was the paccheri another pasta winner, then the pollo al mattone was so tender and amedei chocolate budino lovely way to end the evening. We were so full. Thank you Uccellino we will be back.

Yelp
Absolutely perfection! The food is delicious, I don't know how they do it but every single plate is incredible. Please make the anchovy crostini's a regular item!!

Yelp
Had an incredible never forget meal here. The food was amazing, drinks were incredible, the atmosphere was modern, the staff was incredible. I arrived before my dinner quests so I had to try their peach bellini special which was so fresh and a great way to start this journey. After that I tried the Refugio Manhattan which was the perfect blend of flavours. The food is where the experience was heightened with the help of our waitress we started with the Marinated Olives and Arancini Cacio e pepe which is easily the best Arancini I've ever had. I'm positive it won't be beat anytime soon as it was so next level. Crispy and flavourful, with a smooth center that just elevated the cheese. Next our waitress guided us through ordering wine Elena Walch Schiava was an absolute smash!! Beautiful flavours that hit the right notes with a soft finish to not take away from the food. FANTASTIC recommendation. Next we were treated to Tagliatelle (perfectly cooked pasta with a rich balanced flavour) and the dish that blew the whole table away was Ravioli which was so good we all wish we had more time and more orders. To finish our meal another round of wine of course, then we had Pollo Al Mattone which everyone agreed was perfectly cooked and flavourful with amazing crispy skin that really elevated the whole dish. This Chicken tasted like no other chicken I'd ever had before making me question everything I know about chicken. No one had room for dessert but it made everyone at the table agree to return soon for a follow up visit. The lesson I learned is to trust the staff!! Our waitress was fantastic with all of her recommendations hitting. The hostess was sweet and amazing, the bar staff was friendly and welcoming. Not a cheap meal but it's a bill I would gladly pay over and over for a very elevated experience. One that I will never forget and will rant and rave about.

Yelp
Blink and you might miss this gem hiding in plain sight on Jasper. This is the third overflow restaurant for Corso 32 (which I've yet to try). Started off with a classic Negroni. Bartenders are skilled here. No shortcuts. Amazing selection of hard to find liquors and Italian amaro. The crostini are a must! Anchovy butter crostini with rosemary and chili. Mouthwatering. Terrific wines by the glass. Reds and whites and sparkling. Nebbiolo, dolcetto, amarone, cannonau, and Aglianico are all represented from Italy. Pappardelle. Milk braised pork and prosciutto ragu, parmigiano. Absolutely wonderful. Closest to Roma that I've found. Appetizer salads are big, but you can ask for a half portion which made a great accompaniment to my pasta. They lost points by running out of desserts. Oh well, let's drink! Flight of three Amaro available for $18. The restaurant is open concept yet intimate and comfortable. The bar isn't one that you can sit at, so be prepared to stand a bit if you don't have a reservation. Staff were excellent.

Yelp
Food is good but price point steep in my opinion. Service leaves something to be desired. Husband and I came here with our 3 year old on a Friday night. We had reservations. Hostess was not overly friendly when we arrived. Our server through the night was civil but once again not overly friendly. Not sure if it's because we had a child with us. Which reminds me to add the restaurant is not child-friendly, with no high chairs available or food options for younger ones - not even a simple glass of juice. Husband and I shared the ricotta guanciale crostini, coppa and pollo al matone. Guanciale crostini: although ingredients fresh, was very difficult and messy to eat due to bite size. Coppa: was just okay Pollo al matone with panzanella salad: great dish, loved the salad. We had 4 drinks between us as well ( 2 of the daily drink specials and 2 glasses of the cheaper white wine available). Total cost: Over $150 (not including tip) for a shared entree, 2 appetizers and a couple drinks each. Ouch! Don't think we'll be back.

Yelp
Second time here and it was great. The first time was definitely better. First of all, it was so cold, even the table next to us mentioned this previously. We told the staff about it but it didn't make a difference. Next time, I'd ask for a table upstairs, maybe it's a bit warmer up there. Our waiter was awesome. Super friendly and nice to us. All of the appetizers were excellent (carpaccio, pear and endive salad, whipped goat ricotta)! I would order them all again. Where they failed is when the first main course (tagliatelle) arrived way before the other pasta plate (paccheri). So we waited a bit, and then we just started eating because it was becoming all cold (even faster with the temperature). We had mentioned it to the staff too, they might have forgotten it in the back. It's always fun to eat both pasta simultaneously to compare them and enjoy. When we saw the invoice, we noticed there was some charge for "carpaccio bread" which we never knew this was an extra item (nor we ordered it) as it arrived with the carpaccio plate. We didn't really mind since it was $3 but we weren't told it was an add-on. We will go back because we absolutely love the food here but tonight wasn't up to our expectations.

Yelp
We were craving carbs, and Uccellino blew us into a carb daze. The most recent addition to Daniel Costa's line of blooming eateries. Located right beside Corso 32 and Bar Bricco on Jasper Ave, the choices for Italian dining has grown a little more vibrant! Uccellino brings a more laid back and casual feel compared to the first two eateries that came before. The layout of the space brings an airy and light feel, utilizing the high ceiling to split into 2 separate levels. The brightly lit room embellished with simplistic light fixtures engulfed in neutral colored walls with clean lines and the ever so welcoming spacing between each tables. Still very intimate and cozy. Crostini w/ Anchovy & Butter topped with rosemary, chili and lemon - ($11) - - The first bite was a dream. Full of a heavy slather of creamy butter layered with pieces of anchovy. The dynamic flavors from both the acidity of the lemon and the heat from the chili played with my tastebuds as I chewed and swallowed. However going into my second bite, we quickly figured how heavy this Crostini was. Both the oil off the butter mixed with the salt of the anchovies overpowered the experience; as amazing as the first bite was, finishing this plate was a chore. Bucatini Cacio e Pepe - ($22) - 4/5 - Popular and simple dish where black pepper and cheese are essentially the main components. In this case the star of the show was the salty roman pecorino; A popular salty Italian cheese. Each strand of pasta was coated with the delicious bits of cheese along with a generous sprinkle of black pepper on top, and all around my rimmed bowl. This was good, only if you're in love with cheese and black pepper. As much as I claim to be one to eat my heart out with cheese, halfway through finishing my plate my appetite quickly diminished and I was looking for solace in water and a bite of his. Pappardelle Pig's Head & Prosciutto Ragu Bianco w/ Parmigiano Reggiano - ($26) - 5/5 - The pappardelle was cooked so perfectly where the sauce clung to each strand, and was easy enough to twirl your fork around to then pick up moist little meatballs, to then deliver to your mouth and - mind blown. Rich and creamy and oh so satisfying. Not all the dishes were raves this visit, but the pappardelle dish is enough to win me back to visit and order again, and also to try some dishes!

Yelp
My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday. It was my first time to eat here. It was like a culinary adventure for my tastebuds! Everything was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious! The Beef Carpaccio ($21) with celery root, arugula, lemon, olive oil and parmigiano reggiano was light and fresh. It was perfectly seasoned. It ate light a light salad with raw meat (tenderloin). I thoroughly enjoyed eating this. The Ricotta Gnocchi ($28) with ragu bolognese and parmigiano reggiano was pillowy soft. I barely had to chew (except for the bits of meat). It was so warm and comforting. This dish was well seasoned. They knew I was sharing with my boyfriend, so they split the order on two plates for us. This was nice of them to do. The Char-Grilled Leg of Lamb ($33) with kale, farro salad and salsa rossa was super yummy. I was getting kind of full from the first two dishes. I was wondering if I had enough space in my stomach for the lamb. Luckily, the serving size was not too overwhelming. I had imagined a big leg of lamb but there were 3 decent pieces (approx. 6 ounces) of lamb. Very tender and cooked medium. The kale salad was fresh and had a pleasant crunch from the farro. This salad paired well with the flavors from the lamb. Overall, the food and service here was excellent! This is definitely a classy restaurant. The portions are good for sharing. I definitely want to come back here. I totally recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
One of the best Italian restaurant in Edmonton, without doubt, @uccellinoyeg ticks all the boxes. The Italian restaurant nestled on the heart of downtown Edmonton. Consistently good food, with quality ingredients. It's all delivered with a flourish of excellent service and the setting is thoroughly charming. Whether it's for a family celebration or anniversary dinner. Standout dishes on the menu range from crostini to lamb, chicken and pasta and all are totally delicious. Service is friendly, the vibe is buzzing and @uccellinoyeg is a top date night spot. If you're looking for the best Italian food in Edmonton, look no further.

Yelp
Simply spectacular Italian food. The quality and authenticity of this food is just as good as anything we've eaten for 3 times the price in Toronto, or even in Italy. We were shocked at how amazing everything was. Tip: get the tasting menu. It's so incredibly worth the amount and diversity of deliciousness you receive. The meal is so incredibly large that we had to pack dessert to go. Come on an empty stomach. While all the dishes easily warranted a 5/5, there was a few standouts. The ricotta gnocchi were literal clouds - we've never had them softer. The crostini was out of this world - the sweet potato topping was a perfect mix of sweet and savoury. But the ice cream... just wow. The olive oil ice cream was out of this world. Probably the best scoop we've ever had. It's creamy, but light. It's got an intensity of flavour, but is refreshing. It really accentuated the floral olive oil without capturing any unpleasant bitterness. We love, love, love this place. If there was only 1 place in Edmonton we could recommend to go to, it would be here.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by for dinner before the hockey game, and I have to say, the food never disappoints. Simple dishes executed well. Always a great place for date night! We ordered the Crostini Alla Toscana (chicken liver with balasmico). The liver mousse was very smooth and seasoned perfectly. The balsamic vinegar added a nice acidity and really helped cut through the richness. Presentation could definitely use some work though. Next we had the Tagliatelle with sage and grana. Absolutely delicious! Pasta was al dente. The crispy sage leaves added great texture and flavour, while the grana added salt and creaminess to the dish. We had a side of the Beets Agrodolce and Patate Fritte. Both good, but I did find the potatoes a little heavy on the salt. Excellent food! A must try Italian restaurant in Edmonton!

Yelp
Adding to Costa's empire is Uccellino, conveniently located beside sister restaurants Corso 32 and Bar Bricco. M and T met up with me on a Saturday evening to see if we could wrangle our way to an open table. Half the tables are for walk-ins and we decided 6:30pm wouln't be that busy, right? Think again. Already full, we headed over to a nearby spot on 104 Street to grab some bites and drinks. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long. A text was sent to our phone about 40 minutes later. Bar area when you first walk in. I swear there's a certain requirement to work here - hipster and tats. Uccellino is much more spacious compared to its counterparts. The mezzanine can be rented out for parties of 16 but it's a $65.00 set menu for parties of 8 or more. That doesn't include GST or gratuity FYI. Looks like some prices have increased since my visit so check their website for that. - Lambrusco - while we were at the bar, M ordered a glass of lambrusco. Think it was pretty normal price - $13.00 for a glass. - Aglianico - full bodied red wine from Southern Italy. M and T wanted to ball out so we grabbed a fancy bottle of red to share between the three of us. I'm no expert but this was full bodied with musky berry undertones. I should probably also mention that we got to watch our server struggle to open up the wine bottle. She somehow managed to get the cork jammed and lucky for her, one of her co-workers saved the day and bottle for that matter. When you're paying $$$ for a bottle, you expect better service than that. Lucky we're so nice and let it slide. - Green olives - complimentary to start (you can also find these at Bar Bricco). These were a great snack. I got hints of orange. Crisp, delicious, satisfying bites. - Christopher's moscardini ($17.00) - red wine-braised baby octopus with char-grilled ciabatta. Not the most aesthetically pleasing plate but the octopus is nicely seasoned and tender. - Panzanella ($15.00) - tuscan bread and tomato salad, cucumber, red onion, lemon and olive oil. This was one of the most delicious salad I've ever eaten! Seriously, if salads tasted like this, I'd be eating these every meal. Incredibly fresh, addictive and the tuscan bread added a great textural element to the dish. Superb. - Polpette ($17.00) - tomato-braised pork meatballs with pangrattato and basil. So very tender and moist with a lighter tomato based sauce that didn't overpower the meatballs. - Farotto ($22.00) - this was their special of the evening. Spelt risotto with morel mushrooms and other foraged goodies. The mushrooms were terrific. Think this might have been my first time having spelt but it had an enjoyable mouth texture, along the same lines as farrow. - Maccheroni ($22.00) - pig head and prosciutto ragu bianco and parmigiano. Flavours were well balanced and pasta was perfectly cooked. - Gnudi verde ($23.00) - Sundog Farm spinach and ricotta dumplings, olive oil and parmigiano. These were delicate pillows but this was probably my least favourite dish of the night. The flavours were pretty subtle and didn't do much for my palate. - Char-grilled leg of lamb ($31.00) - roasted eggplant, swiss chard and salsa rossa. There was no swiss chard on our plate so they must have ran out. Instead, it was peperonata (sweet red bell peppers). The lamb was divine. Incredibly flavourful and tender, if you like lamb, it's a must. Not to be outdone, the sides of pureed eggplant and salsa rossa were just as delicious. - Strawberry sorbetto ($7.00) - it might be worth coming to Uccellino just for their sorbetto. This was absolute heaven. You can tell it's made with real strawberries. Intense, full on strawberry flavour. Maybe Costa should open up a gelato/sorbet place next? I have no doubts it would kill in Edmonton. Overall, our meal was great. Yes, it's more pricey than the average restaurant in town but that's what you have to pay for when you want quality. It's actually quite reasonable if you come with a group and share a couple dishes (and skip out on the drinks). Already looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
I went for the tasting menu with my sister for her bday, so heres my review! 1. the complimentary olives were surprisingly yummy for people who really don't care for them. They had a lemon taste to them. 2. They brought us 2 dishes, a salad, (can't remember the name but it had apples in it) which was absolutely delicious! I would come just for that and the Arancini is definitely the best thing I ate that night. 3. Then out came a crostini with what I think was radicchio and it was pretty yummy but the crostini cut the roof of my mouth. 4. the wagyu beef carpaccio was definitely yummy but I think the size of it was a bit too much. 5. Next we got tagliatelle, which was super yummy! and at this point we were super full- as well as the paccheri which was also super delicious! 6. Next the lamb and pancetta sausage which was pretty good, we asked for no onions bc of my sisters onion sensitivity and still got onions in the lentil but my sister just had to pick them out. - we knew they used onions in some sauces and she was already feeling sick because of it but the lentils pushed it over the edge, i think it was our fault for not expressing more that she shouldn't eat them. 7. we got 2 different desserts, I got the gelato which was pretty sour but yummy and my sister got the budino with a small candle to the side which was super rich and chocolatey and delicious!

Yelp
Where shall I begin? This is our Anniversary dinner, which was stated in the reservation, nonone acknowledged it. Our server was incredibly dismissive, rude and inattentive ... Abe 14, find a ew career. Food was mediocre and cold. Atmosphere was like being at a loud IKEA ( furniture sucks) If asking for fresh ground pepper means drop a shaker on your table and walk away ... then this is your truch stop. We drove an hour and a half for this special celebration and where incredibly disappointed. Will never set foot in this or their other restaurants again. Waste of money, time and gas.

Yelp
This is a great place to check out if you like bar bricco food but hate how tiny and cramped it is. Just like bricco it is share plates and has lots of cheesy pasta options. Everything came out perfectly cooked, the gnocchi is incredible! The prices are decent if you stick with pasta dishes but the mains seem a bit high, haven't tried them but I'm sure they're worth the cost. This place does take online reservations which is another plus that bricco does not have

Yelp
Had a great girls night out @ Uccellino Edmonton. Peach bellinis was delish and stand outs of the night was their unctuous charred brussel sprouts and wonderfully executed wagyu sirloin steak. The crunchy farrow in the walnut salad added a lovely earthy pop of flavor, and chickpea fried polenta was tasty though the interior texture wasnt as smooth and rich as I would have liked. We all enjoyed the sausage tomato rendition of fresh pasta over the rich braised meat sauce with ricotta gnocchi. Service was friendly, attentive and Daniel Costa hits it out of the park with his third addition to his list of resturants.

this restaurant is so awesome... food, ambience and service were all top of mind for them... Well don!

Yelp
We went on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed! After easily making a reservation through their online booking system for 915pm on a Saturday, we decided to venture downtown a bit early to see if we could sneak in a walk in spot instead. The hostess was kind enough to clear a table and move our reservation up by about 45 minutes. With the exception of the mains, there were many vegetarian options to choose from. That being said, vegans would have difficulty finding something to eat as most of the dishes were served generously with butter and cheese. I can also only assume that their pillowy soft homemade pasta is likely made with eggs. I believe half of the appetizers and three of five pastas were veggie friendly. My husband and I split the Polenta Fritters (served with fried sage and lemon), the Autumn Salad (endives, apples, roasted almonds) and a Stuffed Oyster Mushroom Pasta (with browned butter, pecorino and black truffle). Although my husband is a fairly big eater and I am pregnant, we left satisfied but not totally stuffed. The food is rich! The staff encourage you to eat slowly and savour your meals. I would recommend the three items we ordered to other diners - all delicious. The cocktail, wine and beer list was extensive and you could tell the bartenders took pride in their craft. We wanted to try the Chocolate Budino for dessert but didn't want to leave feeling over stuffed. The atmosphere is modern but still cozy. Wait staff is all in black to unify the team but they still have their own personalities with piercings, off beat haircuts and funky glasses. We didn't find it to be pretentious and the price for the quality of food and service was very fair. There was one child around 10 or 12 years old who was well behaved however, I wouldn't bring younger children here. Daniel Costa has an obvious skill for designing fine restaurants and Uccellino is a testament to his hard work and eye for detail. We have yet to try Bar Bricco but it is on the list to try next!

Yelp
We booked a birthday dinner at Uccellino on a Saturday night and were disappointed to say the least. The hostess was rude to our entire party from the moment we walked in. She was extremely short with us and did nothing to accommodate our group. I was so shocked at how she spoke to us. Our main dishes did not come out at the same time. A woman who was not our server also came and cleared all of our dinner plates at the end of the meal without asking if we were done. We stayed at least another 45 mins after she took it upon herself to take our plates still full of food. Last but certainly not least - I have confirmed 8 individuals who all got food poisoning symptoms following their meal at Uccellino, including myself. They all came either later that night or early the following day. We suffered over a full day of sickness. Almost every person in our party had thrown up their dinner within 8 hours of eating it. What the hell??? That is not coincidence. Many of us were so sick it woke us up in the middle of the night with the worst upset stomachs imaginable. Brutal. Positives: Our server did well and most of the food tasted good on the way down but it did not stay down.

Yelp
Edmonton can finally welcome Chef Daniel Costa's third restaurant to our food scene as Uccellino opened its doors last week. Located next door to its sister restaurants Corso 32 and Bar Bricco, diners shouldn't have any problems finding the modern trattoria-style eatery. Unlike Corso 32 and Bar Bricco (which at times must be reserved weeks in advance and high in demand with the after-work crowd, respectively), Uccellino, or "little bird" in Italian, is more laid-back and casual with half of its seating reservable online or by phone whilst the other half remains open for every dinner service. This leaves a lot of wiggle room for those who ask on the daily, "what do you feel like for dinner?" like myself. Diane and I caught up over drinks and food last Wednesday, our 6:30pm meet-up resulting in a one hour wait time. Word spreads fast. We chose to peck at a nearby establishment until our table was ready (texting service available). The space is remarkably light and airy, a contrast to previous tenant Transcend Coffee and feels quite larger than I remembered. Clean lines, monochromatic save one or two bright orange chairs, and slanted padded seating along the wall for the perfect post-meal slump. A private dining space is available upstairs for larger groups. I'm thinking birthday dinner anybody? The music is ambient, with the only words you'll hear are the lively conversations around you. Like Corso 32 and Bar Bricco, your neighbouring tables' conversations are within your ears reach -- it's cozy. The drinks selection features a fantastic selection of Italian wines, continuing her sisters' menus next door, and a handful of cocktails. To kick off the night, Diane ordered a Bellini, made with Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco and fresh B.C strawberries -- a refreshing drink for a summer's day. I ordered the Negroni Sbagliato (Campari, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Prosecco, Orange, on the rocks). Uccellino's dinner menu is a taste of Central and Southern Italy, more affordable, and divided into Fritti (fried), Crostini, Antipasti (appetizers), Primi (first course, traditionally pastas), Secondi (second course, divided into meats and Contorni, vegetables), Formaggi (cheese), and Dolci (dessert). Expect to pay up to $13 for the small bites, an average of $15 for appetizers, $19 for pasta, and $30 onwards for meats. As traditional in Italy, plates are meant to be shared and I'd highly recommend ordering a selection from each category for a well-rounded meal. I'm almost never a fan of olives but the green olives (Castelvetrano?) with a hint of orange, were brightly hued, crisp, and lovely to snack on. Our Cannellini Beans with Tuscan olive oil came shortly after, beautiful in the texture and a touch of rosemary. It would have been a shame to see the beans completely pureed into a smooth paste. I ordered the Maccheroni for myself, a white ragu of pig's head and prosciutto with Parmigiano. All pastas at Uccellino are imported from Italy, and the exact same product is available for purchase. Pasta Setaro and La Pasta dei Martellii are exclusive to the restaurant, something I need to buy once I clear up my pantry! The pasta itself was thicker and had a good bite, the ragu addictively delicious. Diane chose the Mezza Maniche Cacio e Pepe made with Sardinian pecorino and fresh ground pepper. A couple bites of her plate threw me into the world of rich, creamy sauces, attributed to the Pecorino Sardo (as opposed to its more well known cousin Pecorino Romano). If you like thick and creamy, this is your kind of dish. Our mains had actually took some time to arrive, something Diane and I hadn't really noticed or minded as we were playing catch-up, but our server was adamant that a dessert dish was on house. Andrea had previously raved about the Amedei Chocolate Budino, and so Diane was the first to jump on this dish. A budino is described as a custard or pudding, and so a chocolatey-rich cake slice was pretty intriguing. It was described to me to be taken like a much lighter brownie that melts in your mouth. With that description, the Budino absolutely delivered -- decadent from the Tuscan chocolate, hint of bitterness, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Paired with in-house whipped cream, I can see why this might be one of the most addictive desserts in Edmonton. It's absolutely perfect for those who don't have a sweet tooth. I'm always a fan of something fruity for dessert, so the Almond and Pear Tart was my choice for the night. A crumbly pastry with a moderate sugar content, I was happy with my choice and a beautiful way to end the meal.

Yelp
My favourite Italian restaurant...And I'm amazed that it's located right in my hometown of YEG. I've been lucky enough to have had some amazing Italian fare in various parts of Italy, US, Canada, HK, etc, and Uccellino is my fave. Full disclosure, I've only eaten at a few Michelin starred Italian spots, and they were amazing, but I found that only one or two dishes really blew me away. I've had the Chef's tasting menu here multiple times, and each time, I walk away completely satisfied (and very full). I won't go extensively into their menu (and ruin the surprise), but high level, here are some of my favourites: crostini's (like all of time), tagliatelle (wow), pollo al mattone (brick chicken). Great wine list as well, very knowledgeable and amazing wait staff, great cocktails! Do yourself a favour and eat here!!!

Yelp
Very different from your local Italian restaurant. I had the ravioli which was very tasty. I would highly recommend this place for Italian food.

Yelp
Took a recent trip to Edmonton and was recommended Uccellino by an old co-worker, so decided to check it out. Didn't have reservations, but thankfully the staff was able to accommodate a table of four on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was classy but casual. The service was top notch, and always attentive. Our server made sure to walk us through the entire menu and let us know of recommendations for our table size and dietary needs, which was great. From there, we ordered a little bit of everything and it was totally fine, but nothing really popped out as outstanding. Things that were really good, tho? The beef carpaccio (with asparagus, lemon, olive oil & Parmigiano Reggiano, $23) and the Ricotta Gnocchi (with basil pesto, $27). While the rest of the dishes we tried weren't underwhelming in any way, they just seemed totally fine. But I will say this: each dish is beautifully presented. It's like a wonderful piece of artwork that you can eat. Oh, if I can make one suggestion while I'm here? Order a cheese plate. This was probably one of the highlights of my meal as well. The pecorino fresco and pecorino stagionato with fig honey and roasted walnuts ($16) - like, my mouth is actually watering just thinking about it right now. Fuck. While this was good, I've just had better Italian. Perhaps I'll have to try another one of Daniel Costa's restaurants when I'm in town.

Yelp
So if you want a delicious night out of real Italian food and are willing to pay just a little bit more, this is the place to go! Quick comment on the atmosphere: it's great! So lively, lots of people, somewhere in Edmonton to see or be seen especially on a weekend! As for the food, I've now been three times and will comment on the highlights. The corn and parmigiano crostini is SO good! I love lots going on in a dish and this one does it well. The beef carpaccio is literally the best beef carpaccio I've had in my life. It has celery root which gives it a great crunch but also covered in more cheese! For the mains, my favorite is the maccheroni. The pork is cooked so perfectly and the pasta is creamy and buttery. Literally no complaints for any of the food! The only reason they got bumped down a star was because of the wine menu. On two occasions, it didn't seem like the servers knew enough about wine or the wine on the menu. I'm hoping they will get more training in the future as it would be helpful for them to really understand the wines and how it pairs with the food in order to make a suggestion to a customer. Can't wait to go back again... and again... and again!

Yelp
Absolute perfection this evening! Thank you for the most amazing meal and wonderful service from Mathieu! We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Amazing!! I'm sure you're sick of hearing all the rave reviews but the pasta from here was the best I have ever tasted!! First off, they offer these complimentary green olives for the table which are so creamy and delightful I wanted to ask for more. They actually taste like real olive oil and not the briny mealy ones you're used to. The panzanella salad was so refreshingly tart and bright which reminded me of summer. The two pasta dishes we tried blew us away. The texture of the pasta was far superior than anything I've ever tasted. It had such a satisfying chew to it! We almost wanted to order a third pasta dish but they were so filling we just couldn't make stomach space for it. There is no doubt that I'll be back!

Yelp
Ended up here by accident, but we were happily surprised. Had the baby octopus for and appetizer, the shared the full chicken with my wife. Both were fantastic. The restaurant is set up a little tight, but that did not ruin our experience. Worth the price.

Yelp
Visited this place during my two day visit to Edmonton. Located downtown, this place is easy to miss with a subtle signage on the outside of the restaurant. However, I don't think that deters anyone from coming as the place filled up quick from when we arrived at 5pm when they open. The restaurant layout is interesting, narrow but long. There are seats on the first floor and also on the second. There was also a separate room with about 8 seats upstairs, but not much privacy as it was a glass wall to separate the regular dining area and the room. The washrooms are located in the basement which means another set of stairs to go down if you are sitting on the second floor - needless to say, this restaurant is not friendly to anyone who are in a wheelchair and/or crutches, etc. We made reservations in advance, which thank goodness we did, because as mentioned, the place filled up quick. They said they save half the seats for resos and the other half for walk-ins which I think is a great idea to cater to various people. We ordered the duck liver crostini and the ricotta cheese and arugula crostini. Both were delicious, with the duck liver crostini being much heavier. I would recommend ordering this if you have a larger group to share with, but the crostinis are served in threes and very generous in portion. I felt like ordering two crostinis were too much bread, and it could most have likely been a smaller meal on its own. For the entrees, we ordered the tagliatelle and lamb to share between the two of us. The tagliatelle was rich and heavy, and the pasta was cooked perfectly - seriously, not too firm but also not soft and soggy and gross! Literally perfect. I think this dish is great to share because it would be too heavy for one person to eat one whole portion, but it is delicious. The lamb was served with a side of peppers? And some kind of green mush..? The plating was great but I did not care for either of the sides. The veggies added no texture or taste to the dish, so I only ate the lamb and left the rest. For dessert, we opted for the fruit sorbet - plum, pear, and white grape. My favourite was the white grape with the refreshingness of a sorbet and natural sweetness. I enjoyed the pear but did not like the texture as I don't like the texture of a regular pear (a bit of grindiness if you know what I mean?). The plum was too tart for my tastes, but everything was most definitely made from fresh fruits and you could really taste it. Overall I would recommend trying this place. I took off a star because of the sides on the lamb entree, but also because once the place became more full, it got extremely loud and it was hard to carry a conversation. I would like to be able to enjoy my food and also talk to whoever I am dining with.
