Experience the quick standing Japanese style restaurant that serves the simplest yet best Udon I've ever had. They don't have an English menu nor do they have a meal ticket vending machine. The store is busy but the owner was helpful to quickly point out what is on the menu. Tip 1. Check the menu that I've shared on this post and have it translated before entering. Tip 2. Tie your long hair up, as you would be in a standing position bending down to eat. Tip 3. The bowl would be hot, so enjoy the sobà or the tempura sides first before holding up the bowl for their amazing clear broth.

Udon Kyutaro is the kind of place that reminds you how good simple food can be. The udon noodles were perfectly textured — smooth, chewy, and satisfying. The broth was light yet full of depth, with a clean, refreshing taste that really woke up the senses. I added the tempura, and it was the perfect touch — crisp, golden, and not greasy at all. The stand-up bar setting made the experience feel authentic and local. Plus, they open at 7am, which is a rare gem. Nothing beats slurping down a soupy bowl of udon before the city even wakes up. An easy 5 stars.

I cannot believe this place exists! The best udon of my life! Easily, the TOP meal of my year - for light summer meal (lime udon). Oh it’s so great I had 2! For winter, grilled aburi is highly recommended! Standing only. They have freshly grinded ginger which are refilled frequently in between meals. Let’s not forget the English speaking cute angel waitress that helped me choose and settle everything. 😍😎

Tiny hole in the wall standing udon noodle bar. Quick, fast service and food. Best udon I’ve ever had by far, and probably best food I’ve had in japan. 1000 yen

A fantastic udon restaurant that opens early. They offer various kinds of udon dishes, including a lime infused udon. They also offer tempura items that you can purchase for a small charge. Everything here was delicious. Pro tip: this is a standing restaurant, so there are no seats. It’s best to just eat and go.

A small local udon shop, standing (no seats), freshly made noodles. You will miss the shop if you don’t pay attention because it’s quite small. Do check the satellite pic for an idea of their entrance. I had their December specialty. It was a little spicy but tolerable. The meat is so soft and fatty, it melts in your mouth. There are also other classic udons. There are cabinets below for you to put your jackets. The employee speaks adequate English so you can ask in English if not fluent in Japanese. Overall very good food, good experience.

Went here early in the morning around 7.30am on a very quiet street. It is all standing, without seats. I realize the locals eat very quickly and leave immediately after finishing the food. Was very surprised by how good this simple udon dish is. The soup was really good and flavourful. The tempura additions were great too at JPY100 each. Highly recommended! The shop can only serve 8 at one time if I remember correctly, that's why it is better to go early if you can and avoid peak hours.

Google
lovely cute little standing udon shop. when we went the person working was able to speak English so very tourist-friendly (I did do my best to speak Japanese anyway though). great food and you can choose to have a bunch of tempura on the side, though I opted not to. Udon was nice and bouncy. I ordered the butter one which was very buttery but in retrospect I wish I had ordered something else (I don’t really enjoy butter to begin with so that was my bad). The niku udon was great though. We did line up like 15min before it opened just because we were in the area, and definitely a good choice because the line started developing 5mins after open. However turnover seems fast anyway so I would definitely just stay in line and wait :)

Yelp
Wonderful udon shop that opens early for breakfast. Stand and eat only. There is a simple menu, but everything is delicious, so you can't go wrong. The most popular seems to be the broiled chashu udon.
