Udon Thani City Museum

This is a superb local museum with a run through the history of Udon Thani and North Isaan region from geologic time through to the modern era. There's even a couple of small exhibits for the history of the building, which used to be a school and later used by the Department of Education The vast majority of the exhibits have been updated to modern standards. I enjoyed the section on Ban Chiang, having visited the site myself. The exhibits on the economy of Udon Thani were also very educational. I enjoyed my visit immensely as I learned a lot.

Free for everyone, the museum is very nice. Easily accessible for everyone including wheelchair users. Multiple interactive points for children are really nice and interesting. Very warm welcome from all staff. Definitely, we will recommend this place to our friends and family. If we could have a chance, we will certainly be back to visit again soon. Really nice and joy with my family there!

Great modern (and completely free!) museum explaining all about Udon Thani! About half of the exhibitions are only in Thai, but you can use a translator. Very nice to visit when in the city. AC works good, staff speaks English. Make sure to stop by the modern looking building to ‘register’ your visit.

I've been waiting for visit to this museum since it was being built over Covid period and am truly impressed with the great job done by its organizers both on construction, decoration and museum sides! Absolutely lovely, 100% informative exhibition with 100% bilingual narrative, a lot if interactive features, total air-conditioning, yet the charm of old school and then provincial administrative building is totally preserved. Well done the city of Udon Thani, thank you very much! I absolutely recommend all visitors to Udon Thani to pay a visit there, especially after lovely walk around the nearby lake and beautiful Nong Prachak park.

Very nice City Museum. If you want to learn a little bit about the history of Udon it’s very recommended. As I went with my Thai mum, the entrance is for free, but even paying 100-200TBhat it’s worth it or do some donations if you you want to support locals .
