"There’s a particular brand of Southwestern American weirdness, and it usually involves aliens. Skeptics would point to self-perpetuating mythologies and commercially attractive UFO-themed opportunities as the reason behind this. Believers, of course, would argue that this UFO unusualness is because the Southwest is a hub of galactic activity; a cosmic LAX, with area 51 and Roswell as the proof. Judy Messoline is one such true believer of the area’s extraterrestrial appeal. The owner of a plot of land that was already used by UFO spotters, Messoline decided to make it official. She set up an observation tower, campground, and gift shop and embraced the extraterrestrial enthusiasts and UFOlogists. Should you allow her to film you telling your story of an experience with a UFO sighting (and it seems like everyone in the region has one), she’ll give you a free UFO-themed frisbee. By all accounts an incredibly nice and accommodating host, Messoline is also an artist, and will point you to the many self-built sights at the UFO watchtower. These attractions include a rock garden and healing garden and not one, but two “energy vortexes.” Here, visitors can deposit offerings, which include everything from old hubcaps to half packets of chewing gum to plastic dinosaurs. Other notable items include two large sculptures of aliens that guard the entrance, a dome-shaped gift shop and a “magic bush,” though it is somewhat unclear what sort of “magic” inhabits this particular flora. Messoline is a notary and can also officiate at UFO-themed weddings, should the mood strike you. Perhaps the most impressive sight of them all, however, is the beautiful desert landscape, with its vast and unbelievably beautiful night skies, UFOs or not." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

It's so unique. And I gotta meet a gentleman that literally was telling me some cool stories about when he was in the military. And aliens, and then it was really cool. The guy that worked there was telling me about the huge horse in the building was Stripped from all of his skin and stuff.And they came and explained it.It was like not how you usually find a dead horse.And they think aliens did it, which i've had the aliens did do it, and i'm gonna go back down next summer, and we're gonna go camping me and my dog down there.And we're gonna go find some aliens

Ive read about this place for years and it was fun to be able to go see it in person. The little gift shop and museum were interesting. The sculpture garden was also unique. The cost to enter was $5 and if you want to camp, spots are available for $20. The draw seems to be the platform and being there at night would be really incredible to see stars — and lots of UFOs.

My bestie and I decided to drive to crestone, co and we had a great time. Views were breathtaking and we ended up staying later than anticipated so we decided to car camp at the UFO Watchtower and loved it! The camp host was friendly and knowledgeable and the price to camp was decent and affordable. The porta potty was clean and stocked with tissue. We were laying in the back of the van with the hatch open and it started raining gently, we heard what we thought were footsteps getting closer and closer so we shut the door and when we woke up we had strange foot prints on the windshield. All in all we had a wonderful experience. Would absolutely camp there again but next time we will be better prepared

Such a cool spot! I left a fossilized sea urchin in the garden that is millions of years old. The man running the gift shop and museum was very nice and knowledgeable. Plus he's a veteran, so thankful for his service!

Visited in The daytime just driving by and saw ET sign so checked it out. Interesting signage and yard art in the high desert. Reminded me somewhat of burning man. Probably better at night when sky is not cloudy. The tower looked like a large deck off a house structure. $5 entry. We turned around since The day we visited it looked like rain,

A fun stop and visit. We had a wonderful conversation with the gentleman in the building. We learned alot about Snippy the horse and the area. We enjoyed walking through the garden.

Interesting story and experience. Great views of the dunes and mountains. I like how they have campsites available. We only stayed about 20 minutes. The gift shop is minimal but has some information in the museum portion.
