Uga Chena Huts

Wow, we absolutely loved everything about Uga Chena Huts - from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The staff are all brilliant - professional, polite, efficient and happy. The food was delicious and the menu changed daily which was good. The bedrooms are literally suites as they are described on the website - huge, well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings, great shower, plunge pool, complimentary mini bar & laundry all included in the rate. The safaris were out of this world - our guide was Yesi and the driver was Prabit - they were exceptional in every way - both so kind and just brilliant at everything they do.  There was never more than 4 of us in a jeep at any one time so it felt like a really unique experience. We saw a leopard on a rock about 5m from our jeep which was just WOW. We also saw elephants just by the side of the road, monkeys, deer, crocodiles and lots of beautiful birds. This was our first ever safari and we loved it.  The pool is beautiful and the spa was great too - I had a massage which was excellent. Uga Chena Huts is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Yes it is expensive, but it was 100% worth it.  For anyone who loves nature and great hotels, I would highly recommend Uga Chena Huts......however I would not recommend staying for any less than 2 nights as its such a great experience. We actually extended our stay to 4 nights as we loved it so much. Thank you!

Each meal was a delight, showcasing both flavor and excellence. A very special thank you to Mr. Chintaka from the restaurant, whose outstanding hospitality, professionalism, and kindness made our dining experience truly remarkable. His attention to detail and genuine care for guests set a very high standard. Our sincere appreciation also goes to the Sous Chef and the entire culinary team for the amazing food and exceptional service. All the staff members were excellent, friendly, and always eager to help. The restaurant team, in particular, went above and beyond, putting their best effort into ensuring we were completely satisfied throughout our stay. Uga Chena Huts is not just a hotel — it is an experience of luxury, warmth, and world-class service. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable stay in Yala. When I thought Sri Lanka couldn’t get better it did. This is an incredible small and intimate boutique hotel in the buffer zone of Yala national park. That means wildlife literally walks through the hotel. So you will see monkeys, lizards and birds frequently. The off elephant on the beach. The service is impeccable, the food is delightful and the rooms and backdrop are amazing. The staff went to every level to accommodate our every wish. The ranger team were proactive and we enjoyed the beach walk and safari. Big thanks to Sujeeloq who coordinated everything, waiting team Kusun, Gayor and Hasithen who adapted the menu and met our asks. This a class act and in our opinion well worth the money. Give this a try!

This resort offers truly unparalleled hospitality. Nestled in unspoiled jungle along a serene lagoon, the property is as breathtaking as it is peaceful. The natural setting means you’ll enjoy incredible wildlife right from the resort, and the safaris and game drives are exceptionally well planned by passionate guides and drivers. Safety is always a priority, yet the team goes above and beyond to help you experience the animals you’re most excited to see.||Our guide, Gaylan, was extraordinary. Thanks to his expertise, we spotted two leopards, countless elephants, and so many other beautiful and exotic animals. His passion for wildlife is unlike anything we’ve seen, and he taught us so much and left us with a deeper appreciation for Sri Lanka’s natural world.||As much as we loved the wildlife, we found ourselves equally excited each day for the food. Chef Sanjeev is a true magician, presenting delicious dishes in the most stunning way and making us fall completely in love with Sri Lankan cuisine. Our dining experience was elevated even further by the incredibly thoughtful, kind, and sweet staff, Hasitha and Chinthanka. They made us feel so cared for, especially as we were traveling with our baby. We miss them already!||Dinith went out of his way to help us find baby formula, and Ashan and Viraj were always warm and helpful. The bartender captain was wonderfully generous and endlessly creative with his drinks, and was a favourite of our son’s! We wish we remembered his name, because he was truly special.||For the first time ever, we left a resort with tears in our eyes. That is how deeply we were touched by the staff’s kindness and genuine hospitality. This place felt like heaven. In all our years of traveling and staying at some of the best resorts in the world, we have never experienced such warmth and care.||You are all truly exceptional, and we cannot wait to return to see you again.

What a fantastic place!|We stayed for two nights at the start of December as part of our two week honeymoon around Sri Lanka. |Having been stuck and trapped due to the cyclone, our spirits were low.|This hotel changed all of that.|From arriving to an elephant on the beach and at reception roaming around (amazing),we could not fault our time here.|The rooms are beautiful, pool a nice fresh but not freezing temperature, the main pool also brilliant and would advise to go have a dip there (also has a bar with lovely pool/ barman) and the set up accommodation wise is great.|The overall service, care and demeanour of staff, again faultless|The food here and drink was delicious and so tasty. The food is AI a la carte , but unlike with many all inclusive places, the quality was not compromised.|We used the laundry, did the safari and had massages at the accommodation. Again all brilliant. Our guide Yessi was fantastic and we also loved the bushwalk with him which was interesting and great to stretch our legs.||Only feedback is to take the ticking clock out of the massage room, the ticking was a bit annoying...bar that would stay here again and again. |Thank you

We had a fantastic day seeing the animals but also with Dushmantha who was very interested and involved in the safari , our ranger and Loku, the driver was awesome ! We had such a good time and saw so many elephants we can’t even count! And 5 leopards!🐆 and one was even right next to the car! 10/10 recommend to anyone who wants to go on a family trip, couples adventure, or a solo travel! Thank you so much ☺️! Best day ever! And amazing food 🥘 served to us afterwards!✨

Breathtaking safari lodge. The lodge is perfect in every way from game drives to quality restaurant food to charming and competent staff. We have toured extensively throughout Africa, enjoying stunning safari lodges yet this property exceeds expectations. Arrivals, game drive departures and restaurant experiences are wonderful. I have a food allergy and the staff were right on to the details and provided accordingly. We enjoyed 3 game drives and due to the expert knowledge and “ uncanny senses” Gayan our guide found 2 leopards on our first morning drive. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the wildlife. A shout out to Dilsham at reception who has exceptional organisational skills and winning smile. A memorable stay.

Amazing stay at this resort. The huts are beautiful and spacious and private. The staff are very professional and friendly. Our guide Yesi was perfect from start to finish. We did the afternoon bush walk with him and a morning game drive and we enjoyed it so much. He is an expert naturalist, he has so much knowledge and interesting stories about animals and birds. He is an enthusiastic gentleman. I highly recommend going on activities with him. Bravo!
