The perfect hostel for the executive backpacker or for extended stay. The hotel itself would probably be 4-star rated by the international standard, except that UIJ doesn't have the extra amenities such as a swimming pool or room service. Aside from that, the facility itself is top notch.
An entire floor is devoted as a common area, with a full kitchen and expansive terrace. There are plenty of tables for eating or working on your computer, a couple of coffee tables and a relaxing tatami area, where one can nap.
Out on the terrace, are multiple secluded areas where small parties can gather, or for someone to enjoy a romantic evening.
The kitchen facility is fully equipped, except that it doesn't have a smoke vent. There are multiple water dispensers and even a sparkling water machine. Free coffee beans are available, along with an electric grinder, where one can brew the perfect cup.
There is also a bar with snack service, by the spiral staircase if one wants a beer.
The dorm rooms are also spacious and well equipped. The mattress is comfortable and the overall design of the sleeping quarters is well designed. The ventilation was excellent.
All in all, this is a five-star facility and a huge upgrade from the typical backpacker, budget hostel. As such I have encountered other vacationers or digital nomads here, however none of the usual backpackers I encounter out on the trail. Let's call it the business grade hostel for the executive backpacker.
