Ulala Lodge

Ulala Lodge is simply the best choice for your stay in Pemba! It has a very relaxed charm, exactly what you would want from a Mozambican beach bungalow. The beach is also spectacularly beautiful with no one else around for miles. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway then this is the right fit. The only downside is that it’s a bit tricky to get to and from town as it’s a bit remote. But, the owners will bend over backwards to help in any way they can, and will treat you like family. Would happily choose this spot in Pemba again if I am to ever return to Mozambique.

Ulala Lodge is a small corner of paradise a 30-minutes drive from Pemba city centre. I did not sleep at the lodge, so the following refers to the other services (restaurant, bar, beach and amenities). The food is fantastic, super fresh (menu changes based on the availability), well served and good value for money. Order in advance (ex. at 10 am to eat at 1 pm) to be sure to receive your food on time. The beach is amazing, wild but clean, and the personnel very attentive. You can do kayaking or horseriding (for the latest, be sure to book).

The best place in Mozambique to get relax and enjoy beautiful beach because of many reasons. First and the most important the food here is unbelievable. There's a local chef working there named Saeed he is just great!!! Best fishes , best starters and best desserts i have ever tried and very reasonable price for dinner and lunch package. Second , a real virgin beach that they even give you snorkel, kayak to enjoy it for free. Third, rooms are very beautiful and original and most importantly very clean, each single room surrounded by nature. Fourth, staff are super friendly and always make sure you feel satisfied and safe . Although its very safe there but during using beach an staff is watching you from long distance. Really nice getaway out of Pemba city. This area has deserted white beaches. Relaxed, ethnic feel. The resort offers free kayaks and snorkeling trips to the nearby reef. Very good staff. Good free breakfast. ||My only issue with the place is this: your food is exorbitantly expensive. It shouldn’t cost nearly the same for a room for three people as for a meal for three people. Your prices should be similar to the resorts in Pemba - this is not really a remote area. ||If it wasn’t for the food price you’d have a 5 star. Thanks again to your team!

The bungalows were super nice, facing the ocean, spacious, with large beds and mosquito nets, and the service was good. It is quite isolated, no other hotels around, the days were windy and the water was cold when we were there. The food was so-so, nothing special but no choice but to eat there, the cab ride back to Pemba for dinner is expensive. Otherwise nice.

We stayed for 2nights we we couldn't be more happy. The place is amazing, more than we could imagine. Everywhere so clean and comfortable. The food is so delicious and special you will wish to take Ms. Sayd to your home with you! All the crew there is kind, nice and very helpful. We got our clothes clean free of charge and got help from the guys to see corals. They always take care of you and your stuff. We will definitely come back. Thank you for everything Ulala Lodge

We were meant to stay at nearby nZuwa lodge for which we had a reservation but they apparantly decided to close for that weekend and couldn't be bothered to inform us! Anyway we wound up going to Ulala without a reservation and it was amazing.||||We stayed in a bungalow with a great view of the beach and palm trees. Meals were tasty and on time, the staff attentive, cleaned our rooms promptly, remembered our drink orders and kept them coming without us having to say so and made activities like kayaking and snorkeling available to us free of charge. The beach it's on was also amazing. Crystalline waters and gentle waves.||||The only drawback is that there's no hot water in the early morning as the place is solar powered. As I was there for leisure, I didn't have very many early mornings so I was not bothered but someone else might be.
