Ulew Cocktail Bar

Despite being the small speakeasy hidden inside a larger bar, Ulew was packed with 2x as many people! Great aesthetic and vibe, where there is no set menu. All drinks are designed based on for preference, with the wait staff asking questions to get a feel for your preference. 10/10 would come back again!

Speakeasy cocktail bar located inside a brew pub! Not going to ruin the details of how to enter — that’s part of the fun. There is no menu. Instead you tell the bartender your likes & dislikes and they create a customized drink! The music is more DJ & upbeat, compared to the quiet vibe of the town’s other speakeasy (Charleston). It’s a very small venue and I saw several people turned away for lack of space. My only complaint is how crowded it got; tall dude was breathing and shouting down my neck.

This place is truly the epitome of a speakeasy - you enter through a phone booth in a restaurant and there is no menu. The bartender makes you literally the coolest, most delicious cocktails based on your taste preferences. It was a fantastic place to unwind after the Acatanango hike!

This is, literally, my favorite cocktail bar in the world. I make it a point to visit this place on every trip to Guatemala (to be honest, every night that I’m in Antigua). I love their line for new people: “At Ulew we don’t have a menu, you are the menu”. This place does not have a menu. You will share what you like, favorite spirits, and flavors and they will come back to you with a surprise. If you don’t love it, they will change it.

What an experience! Staff exceptional! Cocktails spectacular! Ambience on point! Quirky, whimsical and fun. Must visit!

Everybody looking for a cocktail in Antigua has heard of this speakeasy. You go in, tell them the drink vibes you’re looking for, and they come back with something to best match that description. It was a good atmosphere and the drinks were certainly good but I think it was more of a 1-and-done type of place for me honestly.

Best cocktail I’ve had in my life. I’m rly not a fan of alcohol and if the drink does not balance the alcohol taste well I won’t drink it. The waiter here asked about my preference for flavors and made me a drink (there’s no menu) and that drink was absolutely amazing! This was the first ever time I had the entire drink, and no it’s not because they didn’t put a lot of alcohol in it bc I did get tipsy for the first time lol. They also give u a special plate to hold ur drink and I have to say they read me well😝 Will definitely come again soon! Plenty of people over the weekend so be prepared to wait in line.
