Ulew Cocktail Bar

If you're in Antigua, Guatemala, definitely stop by and check this place out, especially if you enjoy a good crafted cocktail. Ulew is located inside and rear of the red phone booth, which is within another bar, so it fits the speakeasy category. A mixologists approach to the cocktail is taken, as fresh ingredients are prepared in-house. Let the folks tending bar know what you like, spiritwise, spirit forward, flavors and such, and something can be created for you. You can also order something traditional, either way, cocktails are well balanced and delicious. Drinks only so plan solid sustenance accordingly. If you enjoy a great drinks, great people, an amazing atmosphere and great customer service, definitely stop in, cheers!

Speakeasy cocktail bar located inside a brew pub! Not going to ruin the details of how to enter — that’s part of the fun. There is no menu. Instead you tell the bartender your likes & dislikes and they create a customized drink! The music is more DJ & upbeat, compared to the quiet vibe of the town’s other speakeasy (Charleston). It’s a very small venue and I saw several people turned away for lack of space. My only complaint is how crowded it got; tall dude was breathing and shouting down my neck.

Despite being the small speakeasy hidden inside a larger bar, Ulew was packed with 2x as many people! Great aesthetic and vibe, where there is no set menu. All drinks are designed based on for preference, with the wait staff asking questions to get a feel for your preference. 10/10 would come back again!

This place is truly the epitome of a speakeasy - you enter through a phone booth in a restaurant and there is no menu. The bartender makes you literally the coolest, most delicious cocktails based on your taste preferences. It was a fantastic place to unwind after the Acatanango hike!

This is, literally, my favorite cocktail bar in the world. I make it a point to visit this place on every trip to Guatemala (to be honest, every night that I’m in Antigua). I love their line for new people: “At Ulew we don’t have a menu, you are the menu”. This place does not have a menu. You will share what you like, favorite spirits, and flavors and they will come back to you with a surprise. If you don’t love it, they will change it.

LOVED this speak easy bar. I was so excited to find one in Guatemala. It’s easy to find and the cocktails are great! There is no menu , so you tell the bartender what you’d like and different flavours you prefer and they create you amazing cocktails.
