Had experience with the Hostel/Hotel with our children back in 2009 and now that an apartment option was available at a great price we took the plunge as a couple. You will need to be realistic about what you want to be satisfied with the apartment choice.|Pro: Great price. Staff responsive to questions via WhatsApp. Good location at the end of the tourist street (about a 15 minute walk from the train station which may feel slower due to bags and tourists crowding the route.) Lots of space. Our room, Circe, was on the top floor. The living space very large and could easily accommodate family of four. Lighting was bright-for once the pictures didn't lie. Hot water was good (actually difficult to get cold water from the bathroom tap). One night my wife thought the hot water ran out in the shower (7-8 minutes, but not a problem our other 5 nights. The LED lights in the ceiling were very bright. Another switch in each room turns on colored LED strip lights-We didn't figure out until the last night that if you hold the switch down in the on position it will change colors. Just saying if you need mood lighting......||Cons for you to consider: The elevator stops one floor below the apt, so you have 19 steps to go with your luggage. They forgot to tell us to turn on the light switch on the bottom floor, so we had to navigate to the front door in pitch black on night one.|Despite the 50 euro cleaning fee (stated per week, though we were charged the same for 5 nights), the unit is pretty dirty. Unfortunately, prior guests are not always considerate of leaving things in good order. However, dust bunnies on the couches (which unlike the photos are pretty stained), Nespresso with dried on fluid and brown feet if you dare to walk without slippers can be a definite turn off. The kitchen has few utensils to cook with. There are some pots and pans, but no large spoon, ladle, spatula, strainer with which to work. Towels are fairly worn. There is some noise from traffic as the building is near the hospital (sirens). The other "window" in the main room provides good cross breeze, but the terrace it is attached to belongs to the front entry of the unit next door, so limited privacy there.||Finally, the worst issue was the smell of sewer gas in the bathroom. This was also something I recall from the Hotel location, so it may be a result of plumbing techniques in this area. However, unless you have no sense of smell you will need to air out the unit every time you return-perhaps problematic if it is really hot or cold outside (we fortunately did not have this issue). By morning we would have gotten fairly inured to the odor, but always present on our return each evening.||We did not use heat or AC so have no information on it's effectiveness.
