I have just left after a 2-week stay at the amazing Ulpotha yoga retreat. I can honestly say it is one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. It’s like you imagine paradise might be. The setting is stunning. You’re surrounded by nature in full force - the morning chorus is extraordinary - and you’re cared for by the kind and gentle local villagers who ultimately benefit from your stay. There is amazing yoga - we had Mika de Brito who was just so good - inclusive, funny, warm, challenging in the best way. There is an incredible Ayurvedic centre run by Dr Sri Lal, which I highly recommend for the incredibly relaxing and life-affirming treatments. The food was truly delicious and, while it is vegetarian or even vegan, I can’t tell you how scrumptious it was. So there’s yoga, there are Ayurvedic treatments, delicious food but also two amazing massage therapists available - we had wonderful Eva and wonderful Sophie. There’s also a slate-lined lake to swim in where the water is silky and almost body temperature. Hammocks galore to loll and read. So even more rest and relaxation. All this was coordinated and overseen by our marvellous host Molly, who had the perfect blend of guiding us and leaving us be. And last but not least you meet a wonderful array of new friends at Ulpotha, your fellow guests, with whom you bond. It is really is the most magical, magical place… I have never felt so calm, rested, peaceful and, yes, loved…
