Our recent dining experience at Ultimo Bali was pleasant overall but fell short of the expectations we had based on its reputation. The restaurant has a cozy and charming ambiance, which made for a lovely setting to enjoy an evening meal. The staff were warm and welcoming, and they checked in on us regularly, which was appreciated.
That said, the food was a mixed bag. While a few dishes, like the pasta, were flavorful and well-prepared, others were underwhelming. The steak we ordered, for instance, was overcooked and lacked the juiciness and seasoning we anticipated. Additionally, the seafood didn’t seem as fresh as we would have liked for a place known for its quality. The portion sizes were reasonable, but the presentation felt rushed, and the overall taste left us wanting more.
The pricing, unfortunately, didn’t match the quality of the food. Given the high-end vibe and the menu prices, we expected a more refined dining experience. The long waiting times between courses also dampened the experience, especially since the restaurant was not overly crowded during our visit.
Despite these shortcomings, there were some redeeming aspects. The dessert we ordered was delightful and presented beautifully, and the staff’s attentiveness helped smooth over some of the disappointments.
Overall, Ultimo Bali has a lot of potential, but it seems to be falling short in consistency and quality. While it wasn’t a bad experience, it wasn’t exceptional either. For those seeking a beautiful ambiance and decent service, it’s worth a try, but don’t set your expectations too high when it comes to the food.
