⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A breathtaking experience that touches both heart and soul. We visited Uluwatu Temple on the third night of our Bali trip, and it was an evening I’ll never forget. Perched high on a cliff with sweeping ocean views, the temple radiates serenity and timeless beauty—especially at sunset, when the sky turns gold and the sea glistens far below. We stayed for the Kecak dance performance, and it was truly mesmerizing. Without instruments, the chorus of chanting voices created an atmosphere both primal and sacred. The way the dancers reenacted scenes from the Ramayana by firelight, with the ocean breeze brushing past, made it feel like we were witnessing something ancient and eternal. Everything—the natural beauty, the spiritual energy, and the cultural richness—made this a highlight of our journey through Bali. I highly recommend arriving before sunset to walk the temple grounds, then staying to witness the Kecak performance as darkness falls.

Very crowded but absolutely gorgeous at sunset. Interesting dance to watch, and read the leaflet they give you before the dance to understand the plot better. Seating is on a concrete stadium with no real exit aisles, so it's not the most comfortable and please consider if that would be a problem for you before going. Some people do climb over others to leave early, but this was very distracting.

Beautiful Effort, But Not for Me☠️😭 The dancers were incredible and clearly gave their all — that deserves credit. However, I personally wouldn’t recommend this experience to my friends or family, and here’s why: 1. Chaotic Entry Process: There was no clear line system. People were cutting in, and we ended up packed in a crowd just trying to get in. Standing and waiting in line made us feel like packed sardine (it was Monday!!!) 2. Overcrowded & Distracting: They allowed people to enter during the performance, which disrupted the atmosphere and made it hard to stay immersed. 3. Poor Lighting & Visibility: The stage was dark, and without proper lighting, it was difficult to see the performers — especially the main characters. For an evening show, this was a big letdown. 4. Confusing Storytelling: The buildup before the main conflict was messy and hard to follow. Without any narration or clear structure, it was tough to understand what was happening. Combined with the slow pacing, it honestly felt a bit boring. While the tradition and effort behind it are appreciated, the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype for me.

Overall, it was a decent performance. All the performers were dedicated and gave their best. However, the venue was extremely cramped. There were not enough seats for the audience, and many people had to sit on the floor, very close to the performers, which made the experience quite uncomfortable. The show could have been better if the space and seating had been arranged more appropriately. Moreover, even after the performance had already started, people continued entering the venue, despite the limited and overcrowded space. This made the atmosphere worse and disrupted both the audience and the performers. Unfortunately, the overall event management was very poor. We had to stand in line for over an hour just to get in. The crowd was overwhelming, and the queue management was a complete failure. The ticket price was quite high, but the experience did not match the value of what we paid. I was deeply disappointed.

Watching Kecak with the setting sun is absolutely an amazing experience! The powerful chanting, fire and the story made it the most unforgettable scene in Bali. The performance starts at 6pm and 7pm, aim for the 6pm one to seize the twilight. Traffic after the performance could be disastrous so it’s always better to keep a relaxed schedule. A tiny complaints: my tour guide brought me a paper explaining the story plot in Mandarin, but the writings are extremely unclear and the content seems very funny. My German friend also said the German one is funny as well. Fortunately the English one is much better.

Kecak Dance is an important part of Balinese culture and heritage, showcasing the island's rich artistic traditions and Hindu mythology. Performed by a large group of men sitting in a circle - Chanting and singing in unison, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. - Storytelling through dance and drama - Typically performed in the evening, with a sunset. I thoroughly enjoyed with my family , it was raining but they provided us with rain ponchos , but didnot cancelled the show.

Watching the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple was an unforgettable experience! The performance takes place during sunset, creating a magical atmosphere with breathtaking ocean views. The combination of traditional Balinese chanting, fire performances, and the stunning backdrop of the temple made this one of the highlights of my trip. I highly recommend buying tickets as soon as you enter the temple, as the show is extremely popular and always sells out. Experiencing this unique cultural event in such a spectacular setting was truly special. If you’re visiting Bali, this is an absolute must-see!

A must do experience in Bali is the Kecak performance with Uluwatu backdrop. This open air amphitheatre provides not just a view of the sea but also sunset views and the cliffside temple itself. The top dance troupe performs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ticketing in advance is a must since seats run out very very quickly. Book online through Viator or any other partner platform. Recommend to be there at least thirty minutes in advance to get a nice seat. Terrific experience.
