Yelp
This was my first time at this restaurant, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I had never heard of it, but my co-pilot suggested that we eat there. It's off the beaten path, so this isn't the type of restaurant you would just drop by. The owner, Conrad, stopped by our table chatted for awhile. Believe it or not, he's from Philadelphia! The story of him being in Puerto Rico and opening a local restaurant is quite interesting. He is a great guy, with a great restaurant.
Uma is a casual, beachside restaurant. The beach access and view is unbeatable. Conrad only serves fresh food, including fresh-caught fish. Hence, the menu is posted on a chalkboard that changes daily.
I started off with an iced latte, while my co-pilot went surfing. It was windy, and there was a riptide. The waves were great, but he got thrashed. I enjoyed my iced latte. Quite tasty. For dinner, I had the grilled mahi-mahi kabobs, served with fresh pico and tostones. It was my first time trying tostones, which are smashed and fried plantains. It seemed a little dry, but I have no previous experience for comparison. The mahi-mahi kebab was served hot on a skewer. It was wonderfully flavorful, tender, and generally succulent! Yaaaaaas!
The service was friendly and timely. They were busy, but no one tried to rush us away. I will go out of my way to visit this place again.
