Umeyama Teppei Shokudo

The menu is in Japanese and not easy to translate so I read a few reviews and we ordered from reviewers pic. English is sparse. BUT the food quality, flavours and the value is truly exceptional. Really loved it!

Our airbnb was right around the corner from this gem! During our 2 week stay we returned a few times as the food is super tasty and the price is very reasonable! They have meat, fish and sashimi dishes! (And they also have a kids menu) We were especially fan of the chicken nanban, grilled fish of the day, salmon sashimi and the eggplant in miso sauce! All plates are served with rice, soup and some additional small side dish! The staff is super friendly! 100% recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Japanese food (other than Ramen ;))

Visited in the evening of 22/5, a Thursday. It was my first meal at Fukuoka after landing. Impressive overall with excellent staff, friendly service, very reasonable pricing and the food was absolutely fantastic. Try any kind of grilled fish. Assorted sashimi was surprisingly good. And make sure you order a pint of HEARTLAND DRAFT!! 🍺🍺

This place serves Japanese homestyle meals with all sorts of ingredients (mostly seafood but with vegetables, fried chicken, etc.)! Prices were quite affordable and food quality was impressive for their prices (and this may explain why there was always a lineup outside)! There was no particular time to beat the rush hours and just be patient and wait for your turn and enjoy the hearty meals!

We stumbled into this little restaurant totally by chance, as it was right outside the hotel we were staying at. We had no idea it would be the best meal we have had in Japan! The staff were so kind, and seemed genuinely happy that we enjoyed the food. We walked in and just asked for 2 dishes, one fish, one chicken, and they made us two of their most popular meal sets. The dishes were AMAZING!!! Both tasted incredible, the serving size was generous, but not crazy, and the price was exceedingly reasonable, coming to around ¥3600 yen for both meals, and 2 umushu soda drinks (also very yummy!). And the miso! We love miso, and this was sincerely the best we have ever tasted. If I could give this 6 stars, I would, and would sincerely go out of my way to visit here again. Dōmo arigatōgozaimasu!!! This was the message I showed the staff there: "That meal was delicious. We both enjoyed the food. The fish was extraordinary, and the chicken was moist and tasted great. My wife and I agree that the miso is the best we have ever tasted."

They offer a good variety of home style meals and a lot of locals including residence or office staff work closed by would dine in there A lot of options with fish as the main element , good pricing and portion is good , meal comes with soup and a side dish, we have also ordered additional items , i would go dine in again if i ever visit this place again in the future

A yummy but busy restaurant for lunch / dinner :) you can find sashimi set meal and various fresh Japanese style cooked fish here! Both choices are very delicious. Just reserve some spare time for queuing up (>20min) as it is a popular economic + quality restaurant even for the locals! I came on a rainy Saturday for lunch, arriving at 1230 and wait until 1pm to be seated.

Good local japanese food, The vibe is good but waiting food too long.
