43 Best Hotels in Rome of 2024

"This newcomer from the upmarket Shedir Collection portfolio (Hotel Maalot, Vilon Luxury Hotel) has an unbeatable location on Via dell’Umiltà: a short stroll to Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, and around the corner from the shopping along Via del Corso. The vibe here is arty, cosmopolitan, and refined, from the contemporary art and marble bust in the high-ceilinged Grand Hall, through to the jungle-wallpapered lobby lounge. The bedrooms are stylish and contemporary, with herringbone flooring, eye-catching contemporary artworks on the walls and big, floor to ceiling windows that draw the light inside." - Maresa Manara

"Why book?  A newcomer that’s bang central, with contemporary rooms, fine dining and a swanky cocktail bar. Set the scene This newcomer from the upmarket Shedir Collection portfolio (Hotel Maalot, Vilon Luxury Hotel) has an unbeatable location on Via dell’Umiltà: a short stroll to Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, and around the corner from the shopping along Via del Corso. The vibe here is arty, cosmopolitan, and refined, from the contemporary art and marble bust in the high-ceilinged Grand Hall, through to the jungle-wallpapered lobby lounge. The bedrooms are stylish and contemporary, with herringbone flooring, eye-catching contemporary artworks on the walls and big, floor to ceiling windows that draw the light inside. The backstory Shedir Collection is the homegrown Italian luxury hotel group behind Hotel Maalot, Vilon Luxury Hotel, and now, Umiltà 36. They have plans to expand further across Milan and Rome, creating hotels for the cosmpolitan traveler wanting modern design and home-from-home amenities. The rooms The 29 suites here are worth the splurge; all feature contemporary design, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and sweeping city views. Up on the higher floors, the 18 apartments are designed for guests looking for longer, more private stays: the living room spaces open into a kitchen area, and the bathrooms offer rain showers and double sinks. Food and drink There’s a big focus on drinking and dining here. The Dandy Cafe offers light lunch and dinner, while the swanky El Porteno Gourmet draws Rome’s highest rollers with its Argentinian-inspired menu. Terrace Flores is their rooftop terrace, complete with a tapas bar and a cocktail bar. Accessibility Umiltà 36 has accessible rooms on both the second and third floor." - Maresa Manara

We really enjoyed our stay at Umilta 36. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms, a prestige room and the terrace apartment for our family of five. Both rooms were great. We especially loved the huge private terrace that came along with the terrace apartment. The hotel has an updated modern boutique feel while being centrally located. It was the first of three hotels we stayed at while visiting Italy and it was the best of the three.

I was going to stay here for a family vacation (Oct 2025). So, prior to my stay, I actually paid a visit to the hotel (May 2025) so that I could check the place out and plan the upcoming trip to Rome. The hotel is centrally located and seems very nice in general (I only saw the first floor general area). The only encounter I had was with the doorman (in person) and front desk team members (via emails and phone calls). The doorman was extremely nice and helped me with planning out my future stay (e.g., where to eat, places to visit, etc). However, the front desk team was not so helpful in accommodating (probably a simple) request. Long story short, a family member has a health condition that necessitates a room with a bathtub. So, prior to making a reservation, I had called to confirm the room category and booked that particular room category. However, despite the fact that I made the reservation approximately 3 months in advance, they informed me that they cannot guarantee such room, as there are only two rooms with a bathtub. They suggested that I book the penthouse instead because that is the only way to secure a room with a bathtub. It was quite a disappointment because it seemed like a fantastic property. However, after the encounter with the front desk team (what an upsell…), I will spend my money elsewhere. I was expecting a level of customer service that matches their Michelin key status; however, I wonder if a hotel of this calibre “actually” deserves it.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Our room was magnificent. Check-in was seamless and Alessandra walked us up to our room and showed up all the amenities. She also suggested a number of good restaurants nearby and to be sure we partake of the rooftop bar. The views up there are good during daylight and picturesque at night. She arranged to have champagne and a desert that said "happy 25th anniversary" on the actual evening of our 25th. The next day we had beautiful flowers and more champagne delivered. We had breakfast each morning and it was so delicious. Servers were so happy and helpful. A beautiful hotel and centrally located to everything we visited, just a brief 5 minute walk to Trevi Fountain. If you are looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay, I highly recommend Umilta 36.

Pros:|- beautiful hotel |- fantastic location. In my opinion, it’s a perfect location for exploring the majority of the sights in Rome |- bathrooms and showers are amazing. |- rooms are very comfortable and clean|- despite location in the middle of everything, hotel is very quiet.||Cons:|- curtains in our room didn’t close all the way so the room got bright early. Seems like a small thing but this made it hard for us to sleep in and relax while on vacation. |- service was a bit inconsistent during our trip. Some of the front desk staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. Others seemed annoyed when you asked questions or asked for help. For example, some of my clothing items were accidentally sent out for pressing. When we called to ask where they were, front desk seemed annoyed at us that we wanted the items back quickly. ||Overall happy with our stay. If they could work on the minor issues above, it could be perfect.

We recently stayed at Umiltà 36 for long trip to Rome and Sicily. As frequent visitors, we typically stay at the W Rome but opted for Umiltà 36 this time since the W was fully booked. The hotel itself is stunning stylish interiors, impeccably maintained, and our rooms were spacious and comfortable. The bed was incredibly cozy, and the in-room amenities were high quality, making for a restful stay.||Breakfast each morning was a highlight exceptional service, warm hospitality, and beautifully presented dishes. The breakfast staff were consistently attentive and professional, providing the kind of thoughtful service one expects at a five-star property.||Unfortunately, our overall stay was affected by a few negative encounters. On our second day, a staff member stopped us at the entrance and questioned us as we re-entered the hotel. It was an uncomfortable and unnecessary interaction that felt unwelcoming.||Later that evening, my husband became stuck in the elevator. When he reported the issue to the front desk, the response was disappointing. Not only was there a lack of concern, but the same staff member implied it was his fault for “pressing all the buttons”—a strange and inappropriate attempt to deflect blame, especially considering he was simply trying to exit.||That said, we were very impressed by the hotel manager, Sabrina. Once made aware of the situation, she reached out with a sincere apology and took swift steps to make things right covering our dinner and arranging our airport transportation. Her professionalism and care stood out and left a positive impression despite the earlier frustrations.||Umiltà 36 has a lot going for it with beautiful design, excellent breakfast service, and luxurious touches. With stronger front-desk hospitality, this hotel has real potential. For now, it was a mixed experience, but we're grateful to Sabrina and the front desk and breakfast team for their efforts to turn things around.

I stayed at this hotel recently and was disappointed by the unprofessional attitude of several staff members. While waiting for the elevator in the lobby, a doorman brusquely approached me and demanded, “Are you staying at this hotel?” in a tone that felt more accusatory than helpful. A few front-desk employees were equally curt when I tried to explain my reservation details, which made me feel unwelcome rather than valued as a guest. I hope management will address these issues so that future visitors receive the warm, courteous service one expects from a quality property.

Our stay at Umilta 36 was a pleasure from start to finish during our Roman holiday. All staff go above and beyond to attend to your needs. The front desk staff were always warm, engaging and professional. Their list of “best gelato stops in Rome” helped my husband indulge in his favorite flavours. Their restaurant recommendations were always spot on. I especially loved Alice for pizza al taglio - casual and delicious! They arranged for my husband to have a in room massage the day after he ran the Rome Marathon. The breakfast team make your mornings extra special. I have fond memories of conversations with Laura, who always greeted me with a smile :) Housekeeping did a wonderful job. Our room was spotless! Great water pressure in the shower, double sinks, plenty of fluffy bath towels and an excellent blow dryer. Great location. Put this hotel on your radar. 🇮🇹
