44 Best Hotels in Rome, According to a Local (2025) | Condé Nast Traveler

"With an unbeatable Via dell’Umiltà location near the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon, I found Umiltà 36 to be arty, cosmopolitan, and refined: a Grand Hall with contemporary art and a marble bust, jungle-wallpapered lobby lounge, and stylish bedrooms with herringbone floors and big windows. The 29 suites are worth splurging on for sweeping city views, while the 18 apartments on higher floors are ideal for longer stays with kitchen areas and rain showers." - Maresa Manara

"Why book?  A newcomer that’s bang central, with contemporary rooms, fine dining and a swanky cocktail bar. Set the scene This newcomer from the upmarket Shedir Collection portfolio (Hotel Maalot, Vilon Luxury Hotel) has an unbeatable location on Via dell’Umiltà: a short stroll to Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, and around the corner from the shopping along Via del Corso. The vibe here is arty, cosmopolitan, and refined, from the contemporary art and marble bust in the high-ceilinged Grand Hall, through to the jungle-wallpapered lobby lounge. The bedrooms are stylish and contemporary, with herringbone flooring, eye-catching contemporary artworks on the walls and big, floor to ceiling windows that draw the light inside. The backstory Shedir Collection is the homegrown Italian luxury hotel group behind Hotel Maalot, Vilon Luxury Hotel, and now, Umiltà 36. They have plans to expand further across Milan and Rome, creating hotels for the cosmpolitan traveler wanting modern design and home-from-home amenities. The rooms The 29 suites here are worth the splurge; all feature contemporary design, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and sweeping city views. Up on the higher floors, the 18 apartments are designed for guests looking for longer, more private stays: the living room spaces open into a kitchen area, and the bathrooms offer rain showers and double sinks. Food and drink There’s a big focus on drinking and dining here. The Dandy Cafe offers light lunch and dinner, while the swanky El Porteno Gourmet draws Rome’s highest rollers with its Argentinian-inspired menu. Terrace Flores is their rooftop terrace, complete with a tapas bar and a cocktail bar. Accessibility Umiltà 36 has accessible rooms on both the second and third floor." - Maresa Manara

"In a location as central as this — practically right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain — a bit of privacy and discretion pays big dividends. Umiltà 36 is tucked away on a side street that connects to the Via del Corso, and behind its door is a luxury boutique hotel whose interiors are alive with a contrast of styles, from Art Deco to classic modernism to modern and contemporary art. The rooms and suites are crisp and clean-lined, no Roman rough edges; public spaces include the Dandy Café restaurant and the brand new seafood restaurant Aquamarina." - Tablet Hotels

This was our first time in Rome. I was very nervous choosing a hotel for this trip, but seconds into stepping into the hotel, I knew the right choice was made. The decor makes you feel at home, it is warm and welcoming. You can sense that each detail of the hotel was carefully/thoughtfully executed. The staff are the most thoughtful, engaging beautiful human beings I have met. It felt as though we were their family. I truly appreciate the care and attention they provide to each person. Each of their characters shun through their smiles and conversations with us. The rooms are perfect, down the “intimate soap”provided for the bidet. We left for two days before returning and counted down the days for our return because this hotel felt like home. A sincere thank you to all the staff including, Marius, Alex, Laura from the dining area, Alessandra and Anna Laura. Thank you for our Italian lessons, your assistance with finding restaurants, and the conversations that made us feel at home. They truly made this a visit that we will remember. We will be back!

This was our second year at this hotel, and it is very very cool, clean, modern, and the service is amazing. And there is a rooftop bar. The staff bent over backwards and knew we had a birthday and made a cake. This is a top notch operation. If you go to the breakfast, the two ladies there are wonderful. Laura at the restaurant will be your tour guide (can’t remember the other ladies name, but she is wonderful also), tell you all the places to go, and she is just the best. So wonderful. They both give you places to go, things to see, and are sooo excited for you to enjoy the town they were born and raised. Breakfast may be the highlight, based on the wonderful people. Also Mario at the reservation desk was the best - wish I could remember more people’s names, they were top notch across the board.

We absolutely loved this hotel! It truly feels like a hidden gem—perfectly located near major attractions in Rome, including the Trevi Fountain. The staff were exceptional across the board—bellmen, front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant team—all incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar offers stunning views, and both the restaurant and breakfast exceeded our expectations. Our room was quiet, spotless, and beautifully decorated. Overall, a fantastic stay—we can’t wait to return!

We just returned from an incredible stay at Umiltà 36, and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely top notch. The team shared that the vision for the hotel was to create a boutique property that feels like home—and they’ve truly executed that vision beautifully. Every detail, every interaction, made us feel cared for in a way that went beyond the typical “luxury hotel” experience. A special shoutout to Laura at breakfast—she’s an absolute gem! Warm, welcoming, and genuine, she not only remembered our names and coffee orders each morning but also treated us like family. Hospitality like that is rare, and she made our mornings a highlight of the stay. The hotel itself is stunning. The décor is a vibe—luxurious and stylish, yet still cozy. I don’t think there’s a single wall of exposed drywall anywhere; every inch is thoughtfully curated with elegance and character. It’s no surprise to me that Umiltà 36 has earned a Michelin Key. The blend of design, warmth, and exceptional service is exactly what that recognition stands for. If you’re considering Rome and want a stay that’s both elevated and deeply personal, this is the place. We can’t wait to come back.

The staff at Umiltà 36 were delightful and welcoming in general. Service was quick and efficient, with requests such as in room dining orders, which were delivered fast and had good quality.||The only restaurant is located on the first floor, serving for all 3 meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves seafood for lunch and dinner, the variety of different culinary being limited for those who don’t enjoy seafood. However, they do have a bar which functions for lunch and dinner with express and international options such as sandwiches and burgers. There is also a bar on the 6th floor.||During my stay, I enjoyed the spacious and well-designed atmosphere of their “apartment with terrace” which features two floors to a total area of 57 metres square. For amenities such as shampoo, body wash, and conditioner, the brand used is diptyque, across all types of rooms. They also use brand Marvis for toothpaste and mouthwash. Huge terrace which features two sun-bathing/lounge lie-flat chairs, a round table suited for four, and another rectangular table that has two sofa seats and two chairs is located on the second floor.||Fitness centre/gym is located on the first floor and is open 24 hours a day, it’s a bit small, and there’s a treadmill, cycling machine, and some dumbbells, which is basically it. Would expect more from a 5 star hotel’s gym, so was a bit disappointed.||Overall, I would recommend it 8/10. If you are looking to stay at the heart of the city, this would be it. But for price, this is not the best option.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Our room was magnificent. Check-in was seamless and Alessandra walked us up to our room and showed up all the amenities. She also suggested a number of good restaurants nearby and to be sure we partake of the rooftop bar. The views up there are good during daylight and picturesque at night. She arranged to have champagne and a desert that said "happy 25th anniversary" on the actual evening of our 25th. The next day we had beautiful flowers and more champagne delivered. We had breakfast each morning and it was so delicious. Servers were so happy and helpful. A beautiful hotel and centrally located to everything we visited, just a brief 5 minute walk to Trevi Fountain. If you are looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay, I highly recommend Umilta 36.

We really enjoyed our stay at Umilta 36. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms, a prestige room and the terrace apartment for our family of five. Both rooms were great. We especially loved the huge private terrace that came along with the terrace apartment. The hotel has an updated modern boutique feel while being centrally located. It was the first of three hotels we stayed at while visiting Italy and it was the best of the three.
