Such a great low cost tour with a bonus movie to start with, and no pressure to buy anything! The young lady, maybe from Germany was our guide and was so good, clear, knowledgeable and fun. Great job! There was so much to see along with the mine, the museum, show cases and dugouts, both pioneer and modern. Very good tour, recommended

What a great find! Or, more precisely, recommendation - thanks, Shady 😊. It's informative and free and showcases so much more than the usual opal mining. Of course, there are also opals on sale, and one can pay for an underground tour - neither of which I did. However, I also loved the well cared for Sturt's Desert Pea - South Australia 's floral emblem - which lines the path to the museum entrance 😀.

Pretty cheap for a fun time with the family. Our guide, Katrina was lovely and educated us on the history of the opal mines. Clean and spacious environment and free coffee and tea at the end of the tour. 10/10 definitely recommend 👍

One of the best places to stop at in Cobber Pedy to get a look into the past and present day of Opal Mining. Professional operation, lots of information and we’ve walked away with a lot more knowledge about how opals came to be, how they were found and how people live in the area.

I purchased a few opals here a few months ago when visiting. I was very happy with my purchase, until I noticed something I had not paid attention to before. One of the opal earrings looked very different to the other one when held against the light. I sent my concerns via email as I was not close to Coober Pedy anymore. Sabrina was quick to respond and asked me to send the earrings back to CP. Within no time I received the earrings, fixed and absolutely gorgeous. Amazing service, it is so appreciated that this was done for earrings that were not even close to the high price range ones. Even for the littler stones they care. The absolute best service if you ask me, so in future I will always get my opals through them! This also reminds me that when buying the opals, the service at the desk was impeccable as well. I’m so thankful!

What a great experience; a tour underground with details about opals, a tour through the underground house and explanation on it's construction, a tour through mining tunnels and even had opals in the wall, in it's natural environment. All this and a store, all underground, where you can purchase opals and talk to people who actually know about them. A great tour that will educate and inform you all you need to know about opals, mining, and living underground.
