UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea

Second time here and visiting one of the father in laws mate who was killed in action in 1950 an Aussie. The gardens are lovely and very peaceful. Flag raising and pulling down are good to see at 10am and 4pm.. well worth a mooch around.

This museum reminds us of the tremendous sacrifice UN forces made in freeing South Korea during the Korean War. The changing of the guard is definitely worth seeing if the weather is good. The cemetery is so well kept. It is manicured and demonstrates the huge value the South Koreans still place on the ultimate sacrifice that so many UN soldiers made.

The UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea is an absolute must-visit when in Busan. It’s a deeply meaningful place that reminds us of the importance of honoring history and remembering those who sacrificed their lives. The atmosphere is calm and moving, creating a space for quiet reflection. Beyond its beauty, it holds great historical and intellectual value, walking through the grounds really makes you think about the past and the price of peace. A truly special and important site.

A must visit when you’re in the region of Busan. It’s nice to see this memorial built by a country that is grateful for the help it has received from several nations and the sacrifice made by the men that found their eternal peace on the battlefield during the Korean Conflict! When visiting the place it’s requested to keep an atmosphere of silence and respect. So don’t be like some of the locals who think it’s cool to be loud or play soccer inside the memorial/cemetery. As a former soldier and still serving peace keeper I absolutely can’t stand this type of disrespect. Remember that this place is free of charge to visit, no tickets required! Parking is a bit difficult in the area unless you find a paid parking lot. This memorial is 100% wheelchair accessible!

Very peaceful and well maintained memorial place. The staff at the memorial hall where the introduction video is displayed could say thank you in Turkish. They played the video in Turkish for us as well. We spent between 1-2 hours here. I’d recommend visiting this place especially if you’re from one of the 17 countries who joined the Korean war.

This is a must-see location if you have any interest in the Korean War or South Korean history in general. The park itself is very well maintained and lots of information about the conflict can be found there. It was very sombre to see all the international graves and memorials, but a good experience.

A must see in Busan. The guards greet you with a friendly bow when you enter and you can smell the lush scent of pine upon entry. The first thing you notice is the carefully manicured trees. They cut in a Korean style and give the cemetery an aura of sacredness. You can enjoy getting lost in the many trails and gaze at the impressive vistas of Busan many hills. There’s some museums and galleries you can learn about the war and the gravestones are beautiful and serene. You really sense this place is well taken care of. It’s a needed respite from the bustling street and traffic just a few meters away. It’s so quiet and peaceful inside. No wonder this place is a top rated destination in Busan on Google maps, you won’t be disappointed!

The cemetery does not have much information. If you expect exhibits I would recommend go the UN Peace Memorial Hall what is a 10 minute walk. This place is only for remembrance. All soldiers KIA of the UN force from different countries are buried here or are remembered on thick stone walls and plaquettes. The cemetery is perfectly maintained. They still pay their respects in this way.
