RECOMMENDATION - We will be back. Had good reviews so we had to try it. We weren't disappointed. (5pm - Thursday) (3 adults VALUE - $23.04 - for two shave ice with ice cream - 4/5 - Shave ice - macadamia ice cream w/ two flavors - 4/5 - Shave ice - vanilla ice cream w/ two flavors - 4/5 PORTION SIZE- 4/5 Large. Neither of us finished ours completely. SERVICE- 4/5 Good and quick. ATMOSPHERE - 4/5 Nice outdoor mall location.

Yummy shave Ice. Much bigger than expected and a tad cheaper than some of the other places. Service is friendly and order served quickly. I can recommend!

Eating the shaved ice cones was on our to-do list ever since we heard that Kauai is famous for it. We were certainly not disappointed. Their shaved ice is different from the ice cones sold in mainland US. Their ice is a lot more fluffy and airy and their syrups are a lot less sticky and sweet. The overall experience was unique and fantastic. They also put a layer of macadamia nuts at the bottom which gives the sense of evolving flavors as you dig deeper. The cones are large and difficult for one person to complete. I shared mine with my son and we were struggling to finish it despite the great taste and experience. One interesting thing I noted was that the snow was at a temperature where it would not give you brain freeze even if you took large scoops. Having experienced brain freeze in the past I had approached this with some trepidation first but was pleasantly surprised that they were at just the right level of coldness. The server at the shop was really warm and friendly. He gave us some insight into the shop and recommended the most popular flavors which turned out to be great. Recommend!

The shave ice is AMAZING. We got the POG combo that was served on a bed of macadamia nut ice cream. All the flavors were spectacular. It was big enough for two of us to enjoy. It was very reasonably priced and there are many benches right around the store to sit and enjoy the great weather and mellow vibe of this beautiful island! I HIGHLY recommend it!

HUGE portion! We shared between three people. Felt like a more traditional shave ice experience than other shops that have some more interesting / unique toppings. The person working was so friendly and helpful, teaching us about how he prepares shave ice differently based on weather.

Humongous portions with creative presentations and flavorful ice creams that make this Shave Ice stand out amongst competitors. Enjoyed a POG and Strawberry & Cream one night on a Wednesday in June. The wait was about four families and less than 10 minutes. Service was fast as groups wait outside until their turn to enter and order. Will be returning to try their Japanese toast!

We tried a ton of shave ice on Kauai and this place is very good, well deserving of 5 stars. The ice is a great consistency and the option of fresh strawberries in the base is a nice touch.

My first shaved ice experience on the island of Kauai, so I can't compare it to the others on the island, but it was better than anything I have ever gotten in the states FOR SURE. The shaved ice was so soft and melted in your mouth. The flavors were great and lasted the whole time. Here, they shave ice in one layer, then add flavor, then add more layers of ice, then top off with more flavor. All my experiences in the past with shaved ice is that there is always just plain ice at the bottom, but not here!! Pricing is on the higher end, but the sizes are very generous. I would share between at least one other person or even two. I shared with my husband and we barely could get through it all. Staff was friendly when we were there, but felt a little rushed since the location we went to was so small and there was a big line. It very much a take and go kind of place. Keep that in mind when you go!

I always come here when in Kauai because they have macadamia nut ice cream as an option in their Hawaiian shaved ice. Sooo yummy. Nit picky stuff, but I always wish the ice cream was a little more accessible from the first bite. I like bites with somewhat equal parts ice cream and shaved ice, but this one is stacked so high you really have to dig to get to the ice cream and then the ice starts falling all over the place lol. Overall though would recommend mac nut ice cream with some tropical syrup flavors.

Absolutely LOVED Uncle's shaved ice. We came here a total of 3 times to try different flavors. Although the photos look like it's some genetic carnival snow cone, these are much more than that. The ice is very fine and the flavors are also really unique such as lilikoi, Guava, Melon, Lychee, etc. The best part though is the Mac Nut ice cream on the bottom which goes so well with the shaved ice. We tried. 1. Island Nectar: Tried this first and it was incredible! Huge enough to feed 2 people easily. My fiance and I loved the Lilikoi and Guava the most. 2. Noka'ai: Also super good! I liked the coconut flavor and how creamy it was by my fiance doesn't really like coconut so we felt the Island Nectar was slightly better but it's all flavor dependent on what you like. 3. Custom: We decided we liked the three flavors Melon, Guava and Lilikoi the best with a cream cap and Mac Nut ice cream. This combo was the best! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, the entire shaved ice is so worth it for $11. It was so refreshing and it goes so well with the ice cream. A must try!

It's more a 4.5 than 5, but I didn't just want to give 4. It's mostly about the Shave consistency for me, and this was composer and soft with no icy parts. They had great flavor combinations with great mac nut ice cream. It was served in a bowl, not a cup so much less messy than typical. All should be served this way!!!

The flavorings are very weak and you can hardly taste them. The woman that took our order was rude. Save your money and go to Mango's instead.

Really awesome shave ice with super flavorful syrups and good ice consistency. I would skip the Mac Nut ice cream but everyone else raved about it so what do I know? Great, friendly service and a refreshing treat. They have outdoor seating as well.

The service was good. The true problem began with our first bite, nay, our first smell. For our piña colada and macadamia ice cream shave ice had a forgettable flavor smeared with a smell and taste identified by 75 percent of our party as bad movie theater popcorn chemical. Meanwhile, our Blue Hawaiian was as artificial as the bowl it was in -- a bowl, I must add, was poorly designed to pool and spill melted shave ice. As we swallowed our last bite of the "macadamia ice cream " (in reality vanilla ice cream with a scattering of macadamia nut pieces), and threw away the watery remains of our meal, we knew it would be an experience to remember. Not a tasty treat. But a sickly sweet stain on our collective opinion on shave ice. We have been turned off to shave ice forever as a result of this experience.

This is a must check out shave ice. So many unique and delicious flavors with all syrups made in house. Even the custom ice blocks are made in house. We went here two times and tried multiple flavors including pina colada, Hawaiian rainbow, and many others. Get one with ice cream at the bottom it really is next level. Service is a little slow because they custom make each one and there is usually a line out the door. They only allow 1 party in at a time but it's well with the wait. They are also super friendly. The place itself is a small shop so there is only outside seating but I highly recommend trying this shave ice on your next visit.

Staff was rude. There was this sign that says return at 4pm.. there was a small like outside the door at 3:58pm so i waited in line.. one group went in before us and then when we walked in at 4:02pm.. once we walked in she said "I'm only serving the group in front of you and then closing." She was so rude and then when i said "but your sign says return at 4pm" she cut me off and said "I'm not serving you, we are closed." And then i walked by 10 minutes later and she was just sitting there behind the counter. She was unbelievably rude. Makes me wonder if she didn't want to serve me for other reasons.. This was on 12/23/24 at 4pm ish. Hate to leave a bad review on a small business but this was off putting.

The employees were so kind and quick to serve. I got tigers blood, tangerine, and coconut and it was all so good. Get the vanilla cream at the bottom! It was $11 which is a bit pricey for me, but I don't have other snowcone shops to compare to.

Really enjoyed the shaved ice here! The ice was finely shaved and the syrups were delicious! Portions were quite sizeable! My husband and I shared one and it was perfect! They have outdoor seating which is kind of sticky (to be expected) but really nice!

Loved this place! Great shaved ice, quick service, and delicious flavor options. I opted for a special that included tropical flavors along with macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom. It was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

If I could leave zero stars, I would. We were in line at 3:30 on a Sunday. I noticed a kid in front us of in the line carrying a closing sign, but didn't think anything of it. Besides my husband and I, there were two people in line behind us. After we had already been there waiting about five minutes, the employee came out and refused to serve us saying she had a planned break and we could come back in an hour. We asked her politely to stay open just for the four of us, and she refused. I mentioned to her I'd read about this same situation on Yelp, and I told her I was going to leave a similar review. Her response was "I could give a f*** about your yelp review" then told us to leave before she called security. Absolutely unbelievable service. We were told this was the best shave ice on the island, maybe so, but the worst customer service. Management needs to be made aware of this.

Was having lunch and saw this shaved ice spot - thought we'd give it a try to see how good it is (and how it compares to Ululani's). Service was fine, everyone waits outside until it's your turn to order (which is nice). The shaved ice itself was average, nothing to write home about. The shaved ice was icy and not super fine. Which then doesnt absorb the syrup as well. Would not come back.

Our favorite Shave Ice on Kaua'i! We've visited Uncles three times during our week long stay on Kauai. The store owner's recommendation, Naka'oi, also the owner's favorite, is my husband's favorite as well! We've also had other most popular shave ice combinations, such as Island Nectar, as well as picking our own combinations ( I love Melon, Lychee, and guava), and they're all delicious! Highly recommended!

The service is good. Only one family allowed in at a time which is nice. The line moves fast. Pricey considering it's ice and syrup, but the flavors do taste homemade as compared to artificial syrup.

Uncle please do better. Almost left as the shop had that sour unclean smell. Needs to be fixed asap. Strange energy from the employees when we were in the shop. Shave was boring all the other places on island that we went to. Wont be going back.

Shave ice craving fulfilled! Went here after dinner and got me some yummy shave ice. Staff was friendly and helpful. And they do have a limit of one group in the shop at a time, which was kind of nice. Menu option allows for you to order a preset shave ice or create your own - so I created my own. For me lilikoi + pineapple + guava over mac nut ice cream. It's pretty refreshing.

This place was AMAZING! Shave ice is a staple in Hawaii so you have to try it. We went to at least 4 different places and this was so great! Long line, but worth the wait. Tucked in a cute shopping outdoor mall in Poipu! Getting shaved ice with vanilla ice cream is a game changer! We got the "rootbeer float" and "strawberries and cream" shaved ice - DELICIOUS!

Partook in the SI offering at the Uncles. A bit different than experienced before, the offerings can have ice cream in the center surrounded by the Shave ice. The tastes were very good and the variety of construction is myriad, although only one of us created our own and the others had the a strawberry and cream - vanilla ice cream - and the others had the tropical - macadamia nut center. It's not inexpensive but the ice cream is a nice addition.

The store Is conveniently located in the shopping center. I did not go inside. However, my family bought shaved ice. I'm not too impressed, as the texture is not as fine as in other shaved ice locations. The flavors are bland. They have fair prices.

One of the things that must be experienced when coming to any of the islands in Hawaii is...Shave Ice. That being said, on Kauai today in Koloa, my entire family was disappointed in their shave ice at Uncle's today. The staff did mention which was their most popular. We decided to try other samplings. The size was plentiful, however, each of our shave ices had zero flavor. I was expecting a burst of flavor from my berry shave ice, but none came until I dug down to the bottom to look for the fresh strawberry. Even then...pretty blah. Uncle's has a brilliant location here in an outdoor mall. Now if they could only match their flavors to their location.

As far as shave ice goes, Uncle's is very good. On a hot day, the ice and syrups are refreshing. For my shave ice, I chose a combo called Noka'oi which has melon and coconut syrups, fresh bits of pineapple, macadamia nut ice cream, and a sweet cream topping for $11. Another combo that I was able to try was Verry Berry which has raspberry strawberry and cherry syrups, fresh bits of strawberry that were tart, and a sweet cream cap for $8.50. When ordering, only one group can be inside the shop at a time. If there is a line outside the door, the line moves fairly quickly because ice creams (you get a choice between vanilla or macadamia nut) are already scooped out into a bowl and stored in the freezer. If you want to eat at the outside tables, they are not cleaned regularly so they can be sticky. After enjoying our treat, there are clean bathrooms in this shopping complex.

Very good shave ice. Pricey but you get a lot. Maybe too much. Could have sizes just a suggestion.

This a great shave ice place. It is not Jo Jo's but it is a close second. I would not hesitate coming back here. Good flavors and good portion size. Great server. She was nice, patient and helpful. Will be back.

Came here again on another trip to Kauai. Good shopping area to stop by, good options, plenty of choices for syrups, but all artificial flavors. Ended up getting the same as we got the previous year, Island Necter. Hubby and I ended up sharing. Still a good place to stop by if you want shave ice.

4.5 This place was so yummy! Came on a rec from a local and we got the strawberries & cream which comes with a scoop of ice cream at the bottom. There's even chunks of strawberry inside!!

Service was really good (they are very friendly) but after sampling shave ice from many different places (Uluhani, Uncle Clays and Island Vintage in Oahu, and Fresh Shave), this was the least impressive. The syrups lacked flavor and didn't really taste great. The best part of the shave ice was the Mac nut ice cream on the bottom.

Huge portions! I'm glad my husband got one to share because it was a giant portion. Very delicious though! A little pricier than I would have expected but it made sense after I realized how much I was getting.

For some reason their syrups are weak. This store should be super busy but it's not. We got root beer float shave ice. Just wasn't right choice. Would prefer tropical flavor. My fault. Did notice service slow too. Next time we would drive further to a Jojo's.

Great place in Poipu. Order one of their recommended combinations. They have a sweet pineapple and ice cream surprise in the bottom. I also like that the syrups are not fake tasting. The servings are huge. Order a small, you still may not finish it. The shop owner and staff are extremely hard workers. Lots of positive energy.

Our waitress recommended Uncles but it wasn't quite at the level of Jojos. The ice was less fluffy and soft to the point it was difficult to scoop with a spoon. The flavoring also was a bit heavier and felt more artificial. Lastly the ice cream had less macadamia flavor and wasn't as rewarding. Would try again but all 3 of us got Uncles and didn't finish our shaved ice. Later that day we actually went to JOJOs for a taste comparison and it was no contest.

Loved it! One of the better shaved ice we had while on the island! And it's massive 5/5!

Came across this shop late one evening while running to Longs Drugs. The guy running the shop was so kind! He was super patient and gave good recommendations. I had a Root Beer Float shave ice. I also bought a couple Shaka Pops to take back to my hotel room. The coffee flavor was my favorite but the Lava Flow was tasty too! The shop is tiny, clean and has cute decor.

No Idea why this is rated so low. Awesome place, probably came here like 4 times no joke as our kid loved it.

It's a convenient location, but the ice is not super fine, and the flavors are quite artificial and syrup-y tasting. It's not bad, but also nothing I'd seek out again. I'd return based on location alone; but I'd look for other places first.

This place has THE worst customer service and their shaved ice is trash. The man working the counter was insanely rude to my friend's daughter while visiting. He was whispering slurs under his breath because while ordering we had to communicate flavors to another person waiting in our car due to physical disability. Anyone thinking of going here should reconsider unless you want to be verbally abused by an employee. I've never been so disappointed by any other human interaction.

Great shaved ice. I Highly suggest the lychee flavor. Super nice people working there. Good amount of outdoor seating.

Was so excited for some Shaved Ice and this spot was meh. We had some yesterday from somewhere else and made with homemade syrups and it was to die for.

Large portions. Syrupy flavouring poured on top of ice. Very sweet. It was ok. You can get 1-3 flavours on your ice. There are some benches outside to sit and eat I don't care for this shave ice but my family did enjoy the ones with ice cream in it.

We came here several times on our stay in Kauai! Absolutely delicious! Jason was working there almost every time we came and he was so kind and helpful! This is definitely the best shaved ice in the area!

The large shaved ice is no joke here. It's massive and you definitely should bring someone to share it. They have great flavors and add ins. Their recommended combinations are great choices to try or you can try your own combos. Each order comes with up to 3 flavors/syrups included in the price. We ordered a few larger and shared it among 6 people. It was almost too much.

We love Uncles Shave Ice!! We came a couple years ago and had to come back. Great, quick service. The employees were so nice! Cute little shop. We had their new passion flavor with fresh passion fruit drizzle. so so yummy. I definitely recommend a visit here!! Sooo delicious.

I hate to leave a one star but it was terrible. We threw both of ours away, wasted $25. The coconut cream tasted rotten. We should of known by the smell. Not good at all. So sorry for the bad but honest review

The lines are usually really long at this location, but it goes down real quick due to the fast service. Staff is always really friendly and quick. Not a great place for locals (due to high price because it's tourist central), but if you're craving for shave ice in the area, it's the place to go. They do have another location in Lihue which isn't crowded with too many tourists.
