"Why we love it: A top-notch glamping resort near the Grand Canyon’s South Rim entrance Highlights: - Spacious, cabin-style safari tents with king beds and stoves - Adventure concierges to help make the most of your Grand Canyon visit - An on-site restaurant that serves all three meals The Review: Open from early April to mid-November, this resort pitches luxurious, cabin-style tents on the striking pink-and-scarlet desert. Even the basic Safari tents feature king-size beds and wood-burning stoves, though guests who opt for these accommodations must use the communal bathhouse for hot showers and flushing toilets. Suites up the ante with en suite bathrooms and private decks, while Stargazer options include king-size beds under arched viewing windows. While Under Canvas goes light on brick-and-mortar amenities, it delivers plenty in the way of rustic charm and modern conveniences. Expect daily housekeeping, organic bath products, and USB battery packs in your tent, plus complimentary camp activities and a fire pit with nightly s’mores. The adventure concierges can also arrange hiking, mountain-biking, horseback-riding, and white-water rafting excursions as well as canyon helicopter tours and Jeep safaris in the Kaibab National Forest, during which guests can spot elk and turkey while exploring native petroglyphs, old stagecoach trails, and the area’s spectacular geology. When hunger strikes, head to the on-site restaurant for everything from breakfast burritos and boxed lunches to pan-roasted trout and grass-fed burgers."

We had an amazing stay at the Grand Canyon Under Canvas. I’ve stayed before when hiking the canyon but was too tired to really enjoy all the activities UC has to offer so came back for an unplugged girls weekend and we enjoyed multiple meditation sessions, the live music around the fire pits at night and hammocks and girls talk in the afternoon. The food is top notch so we didn’t have a lot of reasons to leave and rally relaxed. The beds are amazing a is the view of the stars.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Unforgettable Experience Under the Stars From the moment we arrived at Under Canvas Grand Canyon, we felt warmly welcomed — especially thanks to Zach, who gave us a fantastic tour of the resort. He not only explained everything clearly but was also the kindest, helpfull and most genuinely friendly person you could ever hope to meet. The food was delicious, and the campfire — in line with current safety guidelines — created such a cozy atmosphere. The live performance by Kenny was a wonderful touch, and we loved the unlimited s’mores, coffee, and tea. Sleeping in the Stargazer tent under a sky full of stars was magical, and waking up to the wide-open views was nothing short of breathtaking. The tents themselves were spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. This was without a doubt one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to return!

Under Canvas Grand Canyon was one of the most peaceful vacations I have had in years. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I like the environmentally friendly atmosphere. The suite tent had everything we needed. Seeing the stars at night was priceless!

Absolutely loved our stay. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and wanted to do so with something special and unique. We definitely got both. We stayed in the safari tent and it was so nice and cozy. The little details really made it great. The showers and restrooms are so clean and well taken care of.|The staff is so awesome and friendly. Mae welcomed us and showed us around. She's adorable and fun.|We loved the main area with the free coffee bar and sitting area. Breakfast was so good! And the breakfast burritos are quite large.|The evening singing and smores were just the perfect touch at the end of the day.|The only negative I have (and it's a big one!!) is that we don't have one in or around Kansas. I would easily visit several times a year were you closer.|Please consider it! I'll even help run it!!

Loved our experience, and experience it was!! Not just another night in another hotel, but an opportunity to enjoy and be a part of the natural surroundings. The main "lobby", restaurant and food, games and staff were all amazing; so helpful! The tent, amenities in the tent were perfect - just the right amount to be comfortable yet, not take away from the camping feel. Really great work Under Canvas, stayed at Mt. Rushmore too and love the consistency between sites as it is easy to know what to expect. Thanks for a few great "camping" trips!

Google
This was my first time glamping and my family and I loved it. We got the suite tent, which had a shower and toilet. Our tent was clean and very comfortable. From the moment we arrived the staff were warm and welcoming. They were like that during our whole trip. My family and I also appreciated the activities that were offered. Such as corn hole, live music, astronomy class/lecture, yoga, and meditation. I will do more Under Canvas trips at different locations after seeing how great it was at this location.

An incredible experience surrounded by nature! The landscape is absolutely stunning, and the whole setting makes you feel truly connected to the outdoors. The tent was spacious and comfortable—definitely XXL size, with everything needed for a great stay. One of the best parts was gathering around the fire, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The staff was friendly and respectful, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. The only minor issue was the water temperature in the shower—it was too hot at the start, which made it a bit tricky to use. But apart from that, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy glamping in a breathtaking environment!

After eloping in Las Vegas, we took a trip (honeymoon) around the Grand Canyon and this is the most memorable place we stayed. Firstly, what a wonderful, unique experience to be camping in the Arizona dessert! It was a beautiful, well organised and luxury site with staff that made you feel at home. We loved our safari tent and enjoyed hanging out in the communal tent (where there is a bar/ restaurant/ daily activities, books and board games). The food and drinks were yummy and we loved the s’more’s in the evening while listening to music. The service was amazing, nothing was too big for them. Special shout out to Leo who went above and beyond. The site is a 20/30 minute walk from the Grand Canyon National park and there is lots of info on site to help you plan how to spend your time at the Grand Canyon national park. HIGHLY recommend Under the Canvas Grand Canyon. It was beautiful, serene and magical. Nothing beats time in nature and the stars ✨

Yelp
WOW! WOW! WOW! I've never been glamping before but what a 5-star experience! From the time we checked-in, to the time we checked-out the service was truly 5-star. I didn't have the highest expectations as I've never been glamping before, but I was blown away! Our group visited in mid-October which in my opinion, was the perfect time of year to visit. They close at the end of October so the weather was chilly overnight but the wood stove that was in our tent worked great to keep us warm. In terms of the main lodge, it was beautiful. It includes a restaurant, games, comfortable seating, complimentary coffee, flavored water, and an assortment of teas. The restaurant was SO much better than we anticipated. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly, and the drinks were refreshing. I also love the complimentary s'mores every night -- such a great touch! In terms of the tents, we were upgraded to a suite which was awesome! It had it's own bathroom and it was able to comfortably sleep 3 adults. The king bed and the queen pullout couch were both very comfortable. There were battery packs and lanterns included in the stay which was another great touch. Overall, if you're visiting the Grand Canyon, you HAVE to stay at Under Canvas! I can't wait to book my next trip to one of their different locations!

Yelp
We visited this location for the first time, as my wife had planned it as a special birthday trip while we were on our way to see the Grand Canyon. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and were incredibly personable, which added to the overall experience. The food was a delightful surprise--unexpectedly delicious! While I did find it a bit pricey for the portion sizes. Our yurt was fantastic; we chose one that had a side tent for our boys, which worked out perfectly. We only stayed for two nights, but I truly believe three days would have been ideal to fully soak in everything. The evenings were especially enjoyable, featuring live music, delicious cocktails, and complimentary s'mores each night. It created a wonderful atmosphere for relaxation and fun. Plus, the location is conveniently close to the Grand Canyon, making it an excellent base for our adventures. Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend this spot for a fun glamping experience!

Yelp
My partner and I stayed here for two nights, our tent was upgraded for free to a suite tent. Our stay here was fantastic, right for the beginning to when we walked in, to when we checked out. Check in is easy, they do place a $50 hold on a credit card for any charges. Their front desk is operating 24/7. They have a kitchen that has a nice menu, different menus for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Different foods and drinks available for purchase. There is a coffee and tea bar available 24/7, also has water. I drank so much coffee during my stay. Outside of their main tent that they operate from they have a nice amount of seating and fireplaces. They have complimentary s'mores at sunset-late. One night they had complimentary snow cones! Yum. At night they had a musician perform. Very nice singer. The tent was fantastic, the bed was large, there were windows, and an in-tent shower and toilet. The shower gels smelled good. The bedding was very comfy. The fireplace worked very well at keeping us warm at night. I liked being able to sit on the porch and take in the scenery. All the staff was kind and welcoming. Clearly, I loved this place! Would totally recommend.

Yelp
Great trip. Our first time staying at an Under Canvas site. Various luxury tent options spread across a big site with a central area with food, entertainment. We had rented a large tent with stargazing ability (big Perspex style window above the bed!). Also had a small side tent for our boys to give us and them some peace and time alone. Food was very good, they have entertainment such as games, and a guy played guitar and sang. Also a bar and drinks, fires and smores. If you have never camped before you might not love it. If you have camped then it's high luxury! A few minor kinks but they quickly fixed everything and were friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay again.

Yelp
Talk about a memorable experience for the whole family! We got a tent with 1 bed for us parents and then there was a side tent for the teens. They were thrilled to have a space just for themselves. The tents are really quite lovely. We had a shower, couch + sitting area that seated 4, and the beds were ridiculously wonderful. They made sure the beds are luxurious! And while you are "roughing it" with no electricity in the tents, they make sure you are extremely comfortable. There are misters in the tent entranceway to cool down the air in your tent. There are charging bricks that charge up your fans, lanterns and yes, even your phone. But don't expect any wi-fi. You are glamping after all. But that's really the charm of it. In the evening, instead of folks sitting in their tents, everyone gathered in the main area outside the big community tents to have dinner, listen to live music, gather around the 4 (5?) fires with Adirondack chairs and talk. The Grand Canyon attracts a very international crowd (mainly from Europe) and it was wonderful sitting around the campfire and talking to different families on different evenings. My boys absolutely loved comparing cultures - as well as teaching all of the kids how to make s'mores. I had no idea s'mores were just an American thing! In the main tent, they have seating for relaxing and reading and lots of family-friendly games. Uno seems to be the game of choice - but we're a Phase 10 group. There's also a restaurant - it's laid back and pretty darn good. The menu is smaller but solid. And the drinks they make - are perfection. The staff are immensely friendly. Seriously, I don't know if I've seen a friendlier bunch. If you are on the fence about glamping, just do it. It will be the memory of a lifetime.

Yelp
This place looked amazing and comfortable. There's two issues tho. First they don't have a very extensive menu and second their drink prices are expensive for the size you get. Probably won't be back

Yelp
What a unique and enjoyable experience. Shout out to Krocky for an educational check in and a perfect start to our adventure. He epitomizes the Under Canvas vibe. Once we mastered our overnight heat management with the wood burning furnace, we got a great night sleep in our king-size bed despite the temp dropping down to 45 degrees. This was the last week before closing for the winter. Bunnies hopping outside our tent, coyotes howling in the middle of the night in the distance, you are at one with nature. Stargazing outside our tent was amazing The main tent is beautiful with great seating areas to enjoy the live music at night. Shout out to Luna Ruiz for a great performance. One little hiccup at our departing breakfast. Shout out to Janna for making things right. My wife's not a camper, but she's down with "glamping", so we will be checking out some of Under Canvas' other locations.

Yelp
If you're ready to spend a little glamping money, you'll spend some here, and you probably won't regret it. We really enjoyed our two-night stay. Our tent was clean and all amenities were in good working order. We had two very good meals in the restaurant and refreshing cocktails one evening as well as tasty coffees in the morning. We found the staff to be gracious, informed, and friendly across the board. Handy-dandy luggage carts equipped guests to transport bags to tents efficiently. Shade canopies over outdoor seating areas were inadequate, requiring guests to compete for shaded seating areas during meal times. The staff musician was quite capable on guitar and harmonica. His gravelly vocal stylings matched the terrain. S'mores were good, but not as good as the s'mores at Under Canyon Moab where they provide Reese's cups. Come on, Grand Canyon, get your head in the game!

Yelp
Glamping at its finest for sure!!! The other 2 people in my house hold are total nature lovers so while planning this Arizona trip, I figured under canvas Grand Canyon would be the perfect place to stay. It's like camping (which my 2 boys love) but way nicer. I ended up splurging for our stay and booked a suite which came with a private shower and toilet. We got there a little early so our room wasn't ready yet (check in is at 3) but joelle checked us all in and gave us a little tour of the common areas of the property. The lobby area/tent is beautiful! You wouldn't even think you were in a tent. The main tent includes the lobby and eating areas. Breakfast is served from 7-10 am and dinner is from 5-10pm. You order at the counter and take your number to one of the tables in that main tent. There are lots of tables to sit at (inside AND outside) and we ate our dinners early at 5 pm to avoid the crowds. In the main tent, there are also tons of books and games for you to borrow. There is also jenga and corn hole outside to play as well. There is yoga in the mornings (first come first serve) and also live music at night. AND smooooores!!! Yum! If your room is far, staff can take you and your bags over to your tent. There are designated trails for vehicles and carts (to take your bags to your tent). Our tent WAS pretty far but that is what we were hoping and actually requested since we were wanting a quiet and relaxing experience here. Our suite was huge, lots of room for the 3 of us. Prob bigger than a regular hotel room! There is no electricity here (of course) but they do provide a couple lanterns and small fans in the suite. There are also battery packs to charge your phones. If you need anything at all, there is a number to text or a number to call the front desk. Super convenient!! Watching the stars at night, the moon rising, and sun setting (and rising!) was incredible. No pictures could do it justice. Under canvas is just about 30 min from the Grand Canyon. This is a great place for the whole family, even for non campers like me! We really enjoyed our time here and cant wait to plan our visits to the other under canvas locations! Ps: hopefully you'll get checked in by joelle, she is the sweetest!!!!!

Yelp
I cannot begin to thank the staff at the UCGC for the amazing time they gave us. This is the perfect place to unwind, rejuvenate, and get back to your center. The staff went above and beyond to put the G in glamping (guest services). We never went without, the staff got to know our group and made suggestions for food and drinks based on what they learned from us. Every morning we started our day with yoga at 630am. With clear blue skies and a nice mountain breeze it was the perfect was to start the morning. Every night we felt like little kids eating s'mores until our tummies ached. The breakfast, dinner, and drink options were also great. I felt like the staff were non-pushy camp counselors that were there to meet all our needs and ensure we had a great time. The tent was very large as our group was 3 women. We stayed in a 3 bed tent, and even when compared to some hotel beds these beds were infinitely more comfortable. There was sufficient space inside for all of our luggage (2 bags each). The breeze at night was perfect to stay cool during 4th of July AZ heat. We did not have a private bathroom in our tent, but the community bathrooms were great. They were clean, kept well stocked, and cleaned routinely. A no point did I feel unsafe and often left our tent unzipped with our belongings inside. The tent site is located about 25 minutes from the south rim of the Grand Canyon making this a great place to stay. This is a unique experience different from a hotel. It will be time reconnecting with yourself, family, partner that is well worth it.

Yelp
Under Canvas exceeded my expectations! It was my anniversary and the guest experience team made our tent special for the occasion - Very kind. The bed was comfortable and each tent gets its own wood stove for the cold nights which definitely warms up the tent. Staff was very friendly, and the area is very dog friendly so Merle had a great time. Food was decent and there's not many options close by, but it's convenient.
google avatar

Jessica E.

Yelp
All in all it was an excellent experience. The tents are well thought out. The staff is super nice. The bedding is comfy. The personal wood burning stove was great on a chilly night. Our only issue was the food. Don't get me wrong flavor was definitely there. It was just a few little things. The hubby had a burger and fries and the fries came out cold, they fixed it but the replacement fries were sparse. I had the skirt steak and the flavor was great but they cut the steak so thick it was almost inedible to cut through with the plastic fork. I picked it up and still couldn't get my teeth through it. This was nothing more than the steak being plated improperly. When spending this sort of money on food and drink it's nice to be able to eat it. But all in all we will come back and definitely order food a bit differently.

Yelp
We had an amazing glamping trip here. The staff were very responsive and attentive. The tents and facilities were all clean, well kept and a perfect blend of roughing it and luxury. The activities and facilities were fun for kids and adults alike. Looking forward to checking out the other locations!

Yelp
Overpriced for what you get from the tent to the food. Staff seemed nice but no sense of urgency. Waited over an hour for a breakfast sandwich. Had to ask front desk multiple times for assistance with items in our tent.
google avatar

Yelp
Had an amazing experience; wish I could have stayed for more than one night. Comfortable and well thought out, the rooms make for an amazing stay. Beds and pillows are super comfy. Looking at the night sky was incredible. Staff were so kind and helpful.

Lynn M.

Yelp
All of the staff was very nice and we enjoyed our tent stay. It was cold so the indoor wood stove was very appreciated. We enjoyed s'mores and played a few board games. The stars at night are unbelievable. It was a nice stay, but I wouldn't go back due to the price.

Yelp
Had a great three nights at Under Canvas Grand Canyon. My family of four loved it. I highly recommend it. Regarding some of the other reviews about tents being "dirty," "lighting issues," and "young staff." Please keep in mind that while it is elevated camping it is still seasonal camping with dirt, noise, and limited utilities. That is part of the experience. Finally, if your budget permits, I recommend spending the extra money to get your own toilet and shower.
google avatar

Yelp
Glamping is not my thing but with options like this, I may not go back to traditional camping. It's like a 5-star hotel room. The bedding is so nice. Mattress, comforter and pillows all so soft and warm. Toilet and shower all inside. Pull handle for shower. All nice and clean. There is no electricity. You're provided with battery packs to power the lanterns and charge all your personal electronics. We got the Stargazer with Hive. Absolutely gorgeous. No exterior lights so you're able to see the night sky while lying in bed. There's good distance between each sites. Parking is separate from the sites. No cooking or BBQ-ing at the sites. There is an on-site restaurant. They have a communal area for dining as well as gatherings where kids can play. They offer free smores at the firepit every evening. The food at the restaurant is really good and not that expensive. We learned this the hard way. Don't go out to eat in town as there is literally only one option and the food is bad and expensive. I suggest eating at your site and watch the sunset. It's absolutely humbling. Service is impeccable, especially one particular person, who may be a head staffer, calls himself "Mouse keeping." Spent three nights there in 100 degrees weather in late June. Nights will drop into the 50s. There are misters in the tents which really keep the interior comfortable. I would definitely do this again but most likely in spring or fall when it's more tolerable (during the day). Lastly, this is not cheap but I think it's worth it.

Yelp
5-Star Fun! Under Canvas Grand Canyon was perfect...truly an outstanding experience...and despite the challenges with COVID-19, they did a great job keeping everyone safe, maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, and helping everyone feel comfortable despite the coronavirus chaos. We were a family of five and found the staff to be OUTSTANDING...friendly, helpful and so professional. The location is about a 20-30 minute drive from the Canyon and a perfect, quiet location, allowing for serene experience and unrivaled night-time view of stars. We stayed in the Deluxe Tent which allowed for two large king beds and a cot...the tent was perfect...clean, great bathroom, wonderful wood stove which kept us warm at night. Comfortable beds and loved the barn door for the bathroom which offered a wonderful sink, shower, etc. There are a bunch of nice amenities to make sure that the experience is enjoyable and fun, like power banks in the tents to charge phones, s'mores at night around a fire, activities which families can enjoy (like a trivia night), etc. There is a kitchen that is open until 10 PM, which is perfect if you want to enjoy the sunset at the Grand Canyon and come back late. And food was excellent...loved the breakfast and dinner! I definitely recommend getting outside to look at the stars when it gets dark, as there is no light pollution at this campsite. The sky was absolutely gorgeous and allowed us to view the mikly way in all its glory! 5-Star experience...cannot wait to try Under Canvas at other National Parks!

Bruce B.

Yelp
We spent two nights and had a great time. VERY friendly staff, lots of attention to details, and good food. We really liked mingling with other travelers who were outside by the fire pits. The tents are spacious and comfortable, but certainly rustic. If you're a Four Seasons person this ain't for you!

Yelp
The family (2 adults, 2 boys) went to Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Antelope Canyon for our vacation this summer and this was our favorite stay. This location really set the tone for going on a nature trip and spending family time together. No WiFi needed... Which is good because there isn't any. A few things we wished we would have known... they have food here! Delicious food and alcoholic beverages $$. They also provide free hot tea, coffee, hot cocoa, and apple cider mix. And at night they have make your own s'mores. They also have at least 4 grills here. I assume for public use but you might want to ask. They really provide family engagement. They have cornhole out back and a fire pit. Inside they have tons of board and card games to play. There are heated lamps inside to keep you warm on cool nights. Each night they have a promotion going on like painting, games, or live music. We were there on live music night and he was super talented. Glamping at its best!! Our tent had a wood burning fire place. The wood burns quick and hot. We didn't quite master that as it was either sweaty hot or cold. Maybe open the window? Still cool to have a stove in the tent. The bed was a king size and super comfortable with cozy bedding. The kids slept on cots with cozy sleeping bags that they provided. The bathrooms were relatively close to our tent. They had private showers and toilets. The land was beautiful. We spotted a long eared hare right outside. At night the stars twinkle so brightly. There is a lack of light pollution which creates a perfect view To stare up at the stars. If your going out to the Grand Canyon I highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
Our family quite enjoyed our first "glamping" experience through Under Canvas. The tents were spacious, featured large comfortable beds, and working toilets / sinks / shower. There was a restaurant on site in the main lobby tent that was quite large and comfortable. Food was excellent. We would certainly return again and try some other locations. Some pointers that might be important to some people - there a wood stove that would go out every few hours if you didn't put in more wood or relight it. I would suggest either not going during a cold time of year or asking them to bring a bunch of extra fire wood, matches, kindling and setting your alarm to wake up to tend to fire. The location could be a little hard to find especially if you arrive after dark - just go to the airport museum and follow signs along a dirt road to get to camp. The shower features a pull handle that needs to be held for water to come out, it seemed to alternate hot and cold water that came out. There is no wifi.

Yelp
In May, 2022, on a long-planned trip to the Grand Canyon, we looked forward to staying here, viewing the stars, and gathering around campfires for two nights. But as we approached during a dust storm and drove past an airport, cinder-block apartments and a small trailer park on the way in, our expectations felt outsized. When we arrived at well past 4. They told us to take a seat in the lodge for two hours, that we couldn't get to our site. No explanation, no "welcome, hello, thanks for coming, sorry for the bother, here's a refreshing drink in the desert while we sort out your room," just "sit there." We finally came to understand that their hosts used golf carts to guide guests to their sites and were unable to operate in the windstorm. We suggested we would drive ourselves. When we got to our site, we found a tent with iron beds, sheets, battery-powered dim lanterns, and a stove with kindling to keep it all warm. The deck where we were told was the only place to eat our own food and drink our own beverages was really two wooden deck chairs sitting in dirt to the right of the tent entry. The stove had a metal pipe that vented through an opening in the canvas. Throughout the night, wind and bugs would enter through a gap in that opening. We called maintenance to fix it and they came quickly but didn't have a solution--said that it was a feature not a bug. Overall, the first night was a long one: the bed wasn't comfortable, the howling of the wind, and the fire hazard of the whole stove-in-tent setup kept us awake. We were glad they refunded us for the second night. Two stars for the fresh sheets and warmth of the bedding in the middle of the desert. The lodge was pretty and people seemed to enjoy gathering there to pay for food and drinks but this was not glamping worth $300/night.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds, comfortable and adorable rooms, and very friendly staff! I stayed here over my birthday weekend in October and it was gorgeous but COLD! The blankets on the bed are wonderful and work perfectly to keep you warm at night, but if you're not attentive to your wood burning stove you'll never want to get out of the bed. I want to stay here again (or any of the other campsites too) but I think I'll try to pick more warmer times because I'm a desert rat and hate the cold, haha.

Yelp
Can't wait to go back! The staff was super friendly. The main area was super warm (mind it was snowing outside). They have delicious food with a cook. Events every night pending weather. Fireplace to keep you warm in your tent. Only 30 min or so from the canyon. I'll be back one day and bringing friends.

Yelp
I only had one hot cup of coffee the entire 48 hours that our family of four have been here. Temperature is 40 to 44 degrees at night. Shouldn't be difficult to get a hot cup of coffee........ Asked wait staff once, asked again two hours later. Also, the maintenance person who was in charge of cleaning out ashes from stove to keep the tent warm was 6 hours late..... had to ask twice...... would have done it myself but didn't have the necessary items. Food was good but overpriced. $23 for breakfast sandwich and small latte. Leaving tomorrow morning thank goodness. We have been to the one at Mount Rushmore and loved it but the one in Grand Canyon area is not good.

Yelp
One of the most unique places we have ever stayed, and I cannot wait to come back! We arrived after 4pm and the staff was so kind and welcoming! When you arrive you get the low-down on how your glamping experience will be, which is so nice because I was a little nervous. The lobby is gorgeous and in there you will find the restaurant and the outside communal area with fire pits, eating tables, and corn hole. You are then taken by golf carts to your tent, as parking is separate from the tents. The tent itself is large, clean and decorated beautifully, yet simply. We had the delux tent so we had a king bed, toilet, sink and shower. We were unable to use the wood stove due to a fire ban, but that was there too. The bed was plush and kept us warm all night, something I was a little worried but prepared for. The tent was decently cool inside while the sun was still up which was surprising, but there are misters to help keep you cooled off. The shower worked wonderfully and I am so grateful we had that! Later in the evening we walked down to get dinner- chicken Caesar salad, a burger, and a goat cheese and honey app. The food was delicious, no complaints, the goat cheese app is a MUST order. There was a live singer performing and we ate our dinner at the tent and could hear him performing from there, which was awesome. At night we were able to see all the stars, and even the Milky Way! We sat out on the patio listening to the music and admiring the stars for quite some time. The quiet and stillness that surrounds you is so peaceful and welcoming. We also heard a few coyotes at night! We didn't have much service which helped to disconnect, but Under Canvas offers a text/call line should you need anything, and they are so prompt and that helped me to feel safe. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Under Canvas, and my husband and I cannot wait to go back and for you to visit them!

Yelp
Pretty awesome experience overall. You get to disconnect and just kinda hang out. Temperature regulation in the tent is awesome. Beds are super comfy and you get window cutouts for cross ventilation. 7PM to 11PM you get free s'mores kits, games and you get to meet other people who're also doing this for the fun of it. Once it goes dark, you can sit out on your porch and gaze at the stars for hours. Cons: My dogs didn't enjoy the pathways or the grounds, it was too hard on their paws so they needed to be transported to and from the tent on golf carts.

Yelp
This is our second experience with Under Canvas. We were so excited to visit this location after having stayed at their Arches location a week or so ago. I was a raving fan after that visit. However... it's 11pm here in the Grand Canyon location. I've heard cars and golf carts continuously drive within steps of our tent every few minutes for the past several hours. Guests checked into The neighboring tent at 10pm. Not only were they loudly talking, but so was the staff member who showed them to their site. At the high cost of our room ($300+), Id expect there to be policies about noise and driving after 10pm. On a good note... it's consistent with the Arches location as far as cleanliness, friendly, attentive staff, location to the NP, and overall concept. Add spa services and tighter rules about noise after 10... and it's 5 stars all the way. Just expect it to be busy and noisy and you won't be disappointed. Or perhaps ask for a tent as far from the road as possible.

Yelp
We'll be checking out tomorrow morning but thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in a deluxe tent!!! The tent was great, private bathroom was cool, misters at the tent entrance helped cool things down and the amenities at the main tent were awesome!! Our family of four played board games, roasted s'mores and ate several meals. My only complaint, they need to restock their board games more often. Yes, their is noise as the tents are not miles apart and we awoke pretty early to noise/sunlight, but we were glamping so we expected it. The sunsets by the way from our tent porch were incredible and looking forward to taking in the stars this evening!! And the park entrance for the Grand Canyon was only about thirty minutes away. We'd definitely stay again!!!

Yelp
This was my very first glamping experience and it was magical. The tents are spacious, clean and have everything one might need (big bed, full bathroom, fire place, etc.). Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the food they serve was delicious. Exiting the tent during sunset and sunrise was an unforgettable experience. The views are stunning, and the porch is the perfect place to enjoy it. I highly recommend staying at Under Canvas if you're visiting the Grand Canyon or are exploring that part of Arizona.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We found it while looking for room when we were visiting Grand Canyon and booked a little by chance. We came to the place rather late, but the service was perfect. When installed we hade a nice dinner, extremely comfy living and the most amazing star sky. The fat after we had a nice dinner, great talks with the staff and a good time. This place really made our Grand Canyon even more amazing and a bit more outdoorsy. I can highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
What an incredible experience, highly recommend. Want to check out another location now!

Yelp
3 Star means A-OK, but not quiet a fan yet. It doesn't mean it's bad. Ok since I got that out of the way 1st, let's talk more in details. It was my fault to way too high of expectation for this place, I thought of it as more of a outdoor hotel than camping, so I adjusted my way of thinking, I kept telling myself I am camping, I am camping. You should expect less. No wifi no power no problem, we r camping after all. But I don't get that shower, we paid for the private shower in our tent, and omg the water is lukewarm at best, you have to pull it down for like 4 mins before the freezing water gets to a lukewarm level, so I was shivering the whole time, and I had to keep m back again the wooden wall so I don't get too cold, my friends who stayed at another canvas tent told me they didn't even bother to shower cuz the water is too cold, and that lever thingy which u have to pull down to get water out, so you need to practice how to shower yourself with one hand. The sink faucet...... well, you need to keep pressing down on it for water to come out, as soon as release your hand it'll stop, so I never got to ring the soap 100% off my hands, which triggered my eczema. Oh also, do not walk around in ur canvas without shoes, I walked around with socks on then I got a wood splinter from the floor in my big toe ...... Food is good, wine is barely potable, no food allowed inside of the canvas tent, no outside alcohol allowed in the dining area too. 3 fire pits in the dining area which isn't enough, we waiting from 8 to 11 to get a fire pit, the patio heaters are a nice touch otherwise it'll be so cold at night. Live singing was good! All employees are friendly and helpful! I had smoking trouble with the fire in my tent around 3AM and I called and they were at my door within 5 mins and help me cleaned the vent and told me some useful info about it. I know my review is all of the place and trust I know, because I am not trying to organized it, at this point I'm just writing down whatever comes to mind. YOU MUST wake up early to watch the sunrise, it is beautiful! Oh and the bedding is comfortable as well. Would I go back again? For me that'll for sure be a no, mainly because I think this is an experience which you only need to do once, and then that's it. Only 1 out of 3 person in our group who stayed here said it was ok, he won't actively refuse to come here again, 2 out of 3 person said they will actively refuse to do it again. ( Without a nice shower I don't see the difference between bring my own tent and staying here, other than the experience of course, which is why I said staying here isn't for comfort, it's more of an experience. That's all.

Yelp
The Disney of Camping! Loved every moment of our time here. I'm more glam than camp so this was right up my alley. West Elm Heaven in the lobby! The staff is amazing, Marissa and Jennifer were great delivering our breakfast and few sneaky treats for the pup. Keri gave us the easiest hike on the Canyon and we had an incredible experience. With the tables being socially distance, masks required, half capacity we felt so safe during this and it was the most fun we had during quarantine. Keep up the great work and I say give them all a raise. Well done!

Yelp
I had an amazing time here while on a road trip across the country recently. The tent we stayed in was clean, and having the wood stove in the tent to keep us warm at night was perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable as well! The bathrooms were quite nice, and heated. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in giving us directions on where to go and what to do. They helped us get out luggage to the tent with golf carts, which was quite a nice touch. It also serves breakfast, but we didn't get to experience this, as we left early to catch the sunrise. I definitely recommend getting outside to look at the stars when it gets dark, as there is no light pollution at this campsite. The sky was absolutely gorgeous; I will never forget being able to see the night sky in a way that I never will be able to in the city. It takes around 40 minutes to get to the Grand Canyon headquarters / visitor center from the campsite. I recommend leaving about an hour before the official times sunrise / sunset if you do not want to be rushed to make it. One thing that is easily remediable by the staff is to have a cutoff on when to allow guests to check in, as well as established quiet hours. On the night that we stayed, there was a huge group which checked in quite late (around 10-11 PM). The staff drives golf carts around with luggage / passengers to get them to their tents, and given that the tents are near each other and do not have a lot of insulation from outside noise, this was a bit disturbing to the experience. I think that it would be reasonable to expect guests to be checked in by 9 PM, and for the staff to notify them to be quiet after 10 PM since other guests might be trying to sleep around that time, as we had to notify the big group that just checked in that they were being quite loud. Luckily, they quieted down quickly, so this was not too big of an issue. Overall, I would recommend going here to anyone visiting the Grand Canyon. The one gripe I had is easily remediable, so I didn't think it warranted a lower rating.

Yelp
There are hundreds and thousands of hotels in the world. Only a couple of them are amazing enough to get a five star review. Under Canvas Grand Canyon is one of them. We were on a big 1 and a half week road trip. We had just gotten back from Puerto Penasco, Mexico. We were all tired and exhausted. Luckily, my parents, booked a double tent in Under Canvas Grand Canyon. MY brother was very excited because we got separate beds. (I'm an annoying sleeper.) When I walked into the HIVE, or main entrance, I was blown away. They had 2 staff standing there ready for us, and showed us around the HIVE. They had a nice small restaurant in the HIVE, and a huge drink selection. They had a small gift shop that was packed with amazing little trinkets, and sweaters, and T-shirts. What really made it awesome was the game center and library. They had Jenga, Chess, Giant Checkers, Cards, etc. The rooms were INCREDIBLE. IN the big tent they had a king size bed, they also had a wood stove on the inside, so you can warm yourself up in those frigid cold winters. In the mini tent, they had 2 twin beds. On our first night, me and my brother played cornhole, and had hot dogs by the fire. They also had free s'mores that you could make at the fire. They also had live music. This is one of the cool places I have stayed at.

Yelp
BIG shoutout to their customer service team - I had a mixup with the initial booking, and they honored my promotional rate even though it had expired when I needed to rebook. You can tell the guest experience is important to them!

Yelp
I really LOVED the idea of glamping! I typically camp at state parks where you make a reservation for a site, pitch your own tent and have communal access to running water, hot showers, and toilets. Under The Canvas advertised a luxury camping experience that took most of the work out. We booked a suite tent that had: a full bath including shower, a queen bed, pullout sofa, and wood burning stove. Albeit beautiful, the tent was so fucking loud. The wind flapped through it and shook the tent, between the noise and shaking we never got a good night's rest. Another pain point is there are no picnic tables outside your tent so it's nearly impossible to bring a gas stove and cook your own food. You can either lug all your shit (cooler, charcoal, cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, flatware, chairs, and card table to eat dinner on) to the BBQ stations that are not conveniently located for most guests, or just eat at their restaurant which is overwhelmingly convenient given the alternative. Ok, so now I'll explain why we paid over $1,100 for a two night stay here. The staff are supposed to treat you as if you're glamping in luxury. They are supposed to daily: bring you firewood , clean the woodburning stove, sweep the floor, make the beds, change the linens, provide fresh towels, bring new charging packs, and empty the trash. They brought firewood. That's it. My husband had to run through mud and rain to get a new charging pack at the office because they failed to replace them on their rounds. The only thing they did was replace firewood. The in suite shower was subpar to the showers at public campgrounds; it was freezing and you had to pull a cord constantly to even get running water. I would rather pay 1.25 in quarters for a hot shower in a public room, than a freezing shower in my own tent. Absolutely not worth it for over 500 per night.

Yelp
The Under Canvas is located about 25 minutes away from the Grand Canyon, but it's a really nice place to stay. We got a tent on the edge.of the property, so we were able to have privacy and feel secluded. We had a porch to watch the sunset from, and we also looked at all the stars. It was all very gorgeous. On the night we were there, they had live music at the main lobby tent backyard area. The menus are available once dinner hours start (about 5-10pm), and we had a very delicious chimichurri burger with fries and a brisket for dinner. Regarding the actual tents themselves, I appreciate that they had little carts to haul things to and from your car. There was a lot of room in the tent to hang out, and I loved that our Deluxe Tent had a toilet and shower so that we didn't have to go to the public showers and toilets. It is a pull shower and push faucet for the sink to conserve water; it takes a minute for the shower water to warm up but it doesn't take long. The staff was super helpful and very nice to us if we needed anything. When checking out, it is nice to tell the front desk you're leaving so that housekeeping can get in there, but it's not necessary - they log you out at check out automatically. Also, no food or sugary drinks allowed in the tent because 1) that's how you get ants, and 2) you don't want wildlife poking around your tent. It was very dog friendly ($25/night fee - no breed or weight restriction) where you could even take your dog into the main lobby tent, and they have water bowls all around. Also, dogs can be fed on the porch - just not in the tent. A couple other miscellaneous warnings: 1) it is windy and the canvas flaps when the wind does. If you have a family member who doesn't like overload on sensory things, this might not be the stay for you because it can get loud. But if they like camping, then this won't be a big deal. 2) no wifi, so anyone who needs that connection will be all data reliant during that time, and 3) plenty of things to fill your time with - free yoga sessions, s'mores at night (they supply supplies at a stand and you go to a communal bonfire), and little table games like connect four or horseshoes are everywhere. Overall, I LOVED MY STAY and would recommend for anyone wanting to disconnect from the world and enjoy the scenery for a bit.

Yelp
This was a short experience, but an amazing one. We would like to give a specific shout out to Regan and Niki. Regan was very clear about directions, and she was willing to talk, which our family loves. Niki was very kind and we could tell that she was making sure that we had a great time, which we did! We are happy with our experience even in these hard times. This was amazing!

Yelp
This place was such a unique experience. It was camping with a minimal amount of work and cozy accommodations. As a mom, I consider cleanliness to be a key concern. The accommodations and restrooms were clean and heated. (No one wants to be hovered over a dirty toilet in the cold, and Under Canvas saved us from that camping reality.) Another fun aspect was the diversity of visitors. While we were there, we heard Japanese, Spanish, French, Korean, and of course English. The kids had a wonderful time connecting with other children from all over the world. There were a bunch of games for both kids and adults, from chess and checkers to Uno and Jenga. Of course, the campfire s'mores and free tea/coffee/hot chocolate station were delightful. For camping, the beds and covers were the perfect touch. They even had chargers and lanterns ready in our tent. Side note - It can get pretty cold, so if you are sensitive to cold weather, I would ask for extra blankets or back up sleeping bags. Best part - The staff were energetic, positive, and helpful. I would particularly like to thank Anthony for taking such good care of us when we arrived and Jennifer who served us breakfast with such a helpful and welcoming spirit!

Yelp
Highly recommended!!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The tents were equipped with everything we needed. Most important, my kids loved it. They played board games and ate marshmallows by the fire (what gave mom and dad some time to have a glass of wine). Last but not least, the food was amazing.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The photos and website do not come close to doing it justice. My wife and I checked in Saturday afternoon around 700 pm. We wanted to stay one night on our way through to see a sunrise at the Grand Canyon. The young lady who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. The "tents" at this place are awesome, the grounds are beautiful, the dinner was great, and the proximity to the park was very convenient. I can't say enough about this place, but we will certainly be back and with the kids next time.

Yelp
A wonderful trip!! It was my fiancé and I's anniversary and they hooked us up! They put a rose petal heart in our tent and wished us a happy anniversary. The staff are so kind and helpful, the food was incredible! Would absolutely stay again. Such a cool way to camp!
google avatar

Yelp
WE LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE! Every single staff member treated us like family, or probably better than family. Leslie and Jennifer greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. At every single meal (all of them were EXCELLENT) Zach and Angelina pampered us. I cannot urge you to visit them strongly enough. They organized incredible tours and we did not lack a single thing while we stayed there. This is such a great way to experience camping without some of the misery that can come with camping. Their commitment to eco-friendly vacationing is clear, but we were still incredibly comfortable and lacked for nothing. There were so many activities to participate in if we wished. If you're thinking of visiting a national park, look them up!!

Yelp
BEWARE OF UNREASONABLE CANCELLATION FEE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I reserved two tents at Under Canvas in August 2019, for dates in April 2020 (over 6 months in advance). The reservation was made through Expedia. Due to a change in plans, I had to cancel the reservation in November -- 5 months in advance of the expected arrival date. I was told by Expedia that there would be a 10% cancellation fee. Since I was providing 5 months notice of cancellation (more than reasonable), I asked Expedia to seek a waiver of the fee. Under Canvas refused, but offered to reduce the fee to 5% of the total amount. I checked Under Canvas's and Expedia's site and they have plenty of tents available for the dates in question -- meaning they have not lost/turned away any business as a result of my reservation. They should be able to re-book the tents within 5 months if their facilities are as great as they say. This is an arbitrary penalty and apparently applies to all reservations -- i.e., it was not in connection with a discounted rate or anything like that. Prospective guests should take caution when evaluating this property. My recommendation would be to stay at a normal hotel with a standard cancellation policy (typically 24-72 hours). I will also note that Under Canvas's staff was rude and inflexible in my interactions with them. I think this is a very short-sighted and unreasonable policy. Why would I want to make another reservation with them again?

Caroline C.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. I will be visiting other Under Canvas locations. I have nothing bad to say about it!

Lainie R.

Yelp
We just returned home after staying at Under Canvas in a Suite with our two kids. The tent was amazing as was the entire campground and the staff. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The food was terrific as well. My only issue was that the weather was unseasonably cold so we had to use the wood burning heater to keep warm which would've been totally fine if the fire lasted for longer than a couple of hours. Not ideal to be waking up every couple of hours to restart a fire. Overall, it was fantastic and we will look forward to staying in one of their other locations in the future. Definitely recommend!
