We loved our first Glamping experience! Under Canvas in West Yellowstone was great. - The staff is super friendly,|- The main check-in and social area is really nice with snacks you can take on the road, tables and couches to relax inside the main tent, several fire pits outside with great seating, a nice community bathroom facility, S'more ingredients, and water/coffee/tea/hot chocolate.|- The views are spectacular|- It is very peaceful|- The tents and furnishings are really nice. Especially having a fully functioning bathroom inside the tent! Sink has running hot water, shower has plenty of hot water (you just have to hold the chain down), and the toilet flushes! The beds were super comfortable, too.|- It was VERY cold at under 30 degrees our first night but we were very cozy in bed and my kids said the warm sleeping bags with extra down comforters in the kids tent kept them warm. The only thing that got cold was our faces. They will give you hot water bottles (like whoopie cushions) but get them early because they ran out our first night so we didn't get any. We were able to get some the second night but actually preferred not to use them anyway because of the rubber smell.|- We loved the restaurant! It was actually nice that it was in an actual building on property. The food was top notch and looked WAY nicer than anything we passed in the town of West Yellowstone. ||My only negative is that the person making the "to go" sandwiches that you can purchase for hikes or picnic lunches needs training on how to make a proper PB&J! For $12, it had one little clump of peanut butter in the center but tons of jelly. ||I read some negative reviews about the "value" since this isn't cheap, but the amount of work involved in setting this up every summer, providing full bathroom facilities inside a tent, hauling in furniture, etc. seems like it would be a lot of work. So we justified it.||We would definitely stay here again.

My wife, three kids (ages 19, 16, 16) and I stayed at Under Canvas West Yellowstone for two nights in mid-July and it was an amazing trip. The location, the service, and the tents were perfect for our two days of exploring Yellowstone. Under Canvas arranged fly fishing, horseback riding and an 8 hour tour of the park. The tents were great and there was live music each night on the main patio. We were a little worried about getting too cold in the tents at night but the wood burning stoves worked great and kept us warm. I would definitely stay there again and look forward to trying other Under Canvas locations.

Be aware of the no refund cancellation policy before booking. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my reservation due to unforeseen circumstances, and was surprised to learn that no refunds are issued under any circumstance—even with plenty of advance notice. I understand policies are in place for a reason, but this felt especially rigid and disappointing given the price point and the fact that many other lodges in the area offer more flexible options. I would caution others to read the fine print carefully before booking, and consider whether you’re comfortable risking a total loss if your plans change. The location may be beautiful, but the customer service and cancellation policy were not traveler-friendly in my experience.

Staying at Under Canvas was the cherry on top of a perfect trip to Yellowstone. The campsite had beautiful views of the surrounding area and was located just far enough outside of town for it to feel secluded while being located close enough to town to pop over quickly for dinner or breakfast. Proximity to the park itself is perfect too. Even with it being down to 30 degrees at night, the tent was cozy, comfortable, and spacious. The beds were SO comfortable. The staff was friendly and made everything so easy for us. We upgraded tents after the first night and they made the transition easy (done all through text) and helped us with our luggage as well. Definitely recommend splurging for the tent with its own bathroom.

My husband & I had the pleasure of staying at Under Canvas last week for my birthday. The experience was perfect for our first time in Yellowstone. The staff were so nice from check in to check out. We stayed in the Stargazer. The staff explained how the showers worked, what we had at each nightstand and how to start the fire. This was very helpful as the first time I tried taking a shower the water was ice cold. I contacted the guest service number and right away, the maintenance team came over and got the propane tank replaced. Our stay was very relaxing and we had a short 10-15 minute drive into town and the West side entrance. I would definitely stay here again. Plus some elk and a deer came up to the fields by our tent.

It was ok. We are “normal” people, not rich, so it felt very expensive for what we got. It was about $600 for one night in a star gazer tent. When we arrived it was mid 30’s and snowing/sleeting. Check in was a bit messy with the staff being overwhelmed. We heard the staff say they were “light” on booking at only 78%, but they seem ill prepared for the guests on hand, so 100% would be really messy. It would be great to receive more kindling or a hatchet. With it being so cold our fire was not making it past about three hours. So in the morning I had to use a knife to get more kindling. The tents are very close together, you hear everything. We struggled with neighbors playing games and music past quiet hour. Those same neighbors came and complained to us in the morning when I was up early getting our fire going again (splitting off kindling). It was a nice stay overall, but the value is pretty questionable.

Google
BEWARE: The tents are NOT wired for electricity (110V). They provide you with small power bank to charge your USB devices (phone, watch, etc) and power a very VERY tiny fan (fits in the palm of your hand). You must swap out the power banks daily. For CPAPs, they have larger power banks good for about 5 to 6 hours. The only heat source is a wood stove that (due to the wood being supplied) will burn out in about 2-3 hours, requiring you to either 1) wake up add wood to it every couple hours or 2) freeze your face off. This could be partly remedied by supplying oak to burn, but that's not gonna happen. None of this would be a problem IF they clearly disclosed it on their website, but they don't! The sinks are way to small to use without making a mess. Be prepared to take a sailor's shower as all plumbing comes with spring-loaded knobs to prevent long running water. ||The bed was comfortable and had plenty of covers to keep your body warm, but with temperature swings of 40+ degrees (in July!), it gets VERY cold at night even if it's hot during the day. If the stove goes out, you'll wake up with frozen eyeballs.||It appears the stovepipe is too small for the opening in the canvas it passes through OR a key piece of hardware is missing to completely seal the hole. There's not much point to having bug screens on the windows and doors when the horseflies and mosquitoes can fly right through the hole in the side of your tent. ||The reservation site made it look like we were reserving a yurt-style tent, but this was just a plain retangular tent. Not sure why that matters other than it just seems like one more think being misrepresented on their website. ||Oh, and the en suite toilet isn't exactly private. Think of the toilets you use in multi-stall public restrooms. These are nice normal toilets, but if you dread your partner hearing all of your bathroom noises, these are NOT the toilets for you. ||On a more positive note, the staff was absolutely a delight. Service, in that regard, was as expected given the price point of these accomodations. They could stand to have a greater variety of snacks and drinks available in the "lobby", but the overall vibe of the place is pretty cool. We saw many families enjoying themselves around the gas campfires, roasting marshmallows. If they could fix the heating issue, I would consider staying again, but otherwise, it's not worth the money.

Google
While the amenities and activities at Under Canvas in West Yellowstone are good, there are many issues that make it a very poor value versus other options in the area.||The biggest issues we had were: (1) issues with the repair quality of the tents; and (2) limited staff / service during the stay. Both issues I would be much more relaxed about if the price per night were not as high as is charged. At $1,000 / night (for a family tent that fits 5), there shouldn't be holes all around the tent and sides falling off. Similarly, at that price, there should be staff enough to help with basic requests during the stay without massive delays.||On the positive side, the family enjoyed the music, firepits, smores, and activities around the lobby tent. There is certainly thought and effort into making this more than just a place to sleep over night. Food was OK and somewhat overpriced, but it was nice having a food option on-site when our days ran long and we just wanted something quick/easy at the end of the day.||Ultimately, I cannot recommend this place to anyone in its current state unless you get a much better price for the stay or they make a bigger effort to improve the current property.

Yelp
I need to make it clear in my review that I HAVE been camping. Like real camping. Tent camping in the wilderness and RV camping. Loved the concept of Glamping. Mixing camping and staying in a hotel? Yes please. The people were beyond friendly, it was an extremely welcoming environment. The amenities were nice, coffee bar in the am, s'mores in the evening, board games and local musicians make it a great place to just chill out. The tent was great. Enough room for the three of us, very comfortable. The wood burning stove kept the tent warm at night and the shower in the tent, while it was chilly out was nice and warm! My complaints are minimal but being that I have been camping before are kinda a big deal. There was standing water in my tent which should have been addressed before our arrival. The trails through the campground were rough and riddled with puddles from rain. However there should have been way more gravel as to avoid potholes and standing water. I have been in cheap cheap campgrounds before and the trails/roads were in way better condition. Here I'm paying a lot more for the "camping" experience and it's worse? No I should be walking on the finest gravel, graded often for the snobbiest of clients. When paying this premium I should not have to concern myself with mud puddles. Upon arrival we had requested a cot which we waited around for over an hour to get. Finally we decided to leave to get food and upon return the cot was not delivered because we had locked our tent... Why did it take over an hour initially? We mentioned it in our booking. This is just something they need to work on. Don't let my ramblings fool you. This place was amazing and I can't wait to get back here. The people, the views, the atmosphere, this place is amazing and well worth the $$$

Yelp
So we were not in a tent, but the log cabins. The cabins are adorable. They need some work, i.e., poor lighting, etc., but overall fine. What was NOT fine was the exorbitant daily $50 'resort fee'; why not just add it to the nightly price and be honest? Or, not charge since there were no resort amenities as the pool and restaurant were closed for the season (Sept stay), they do not provide bear spray so wandering the property is out (they DO have a helpful sign warning about grizzlies), and they tack on 10% to any offsite activities with which they partner. So what did the $50 cover? A s'more kit of a marshmallow, a graham cracker, and a mini Reese Cup.

Yelp
We were incredibly excited about our 5-night stay at UC, which was advertised as a luxurious glamping experience. However, it fell far short of our expectations, leading us to leave after just three nights. While the concept is appealing, the issues we encountered were unacceptable given the high price of approximately $550 per night. Here are the specific challenges we faced: 1. The cold weather was a major problem throughout our stay, with temperatures dropping into the high 20s at night. The tents were ill-equipped to handle such low temperatures, relying solely on a small wood-burning stove for warmth. Unfortunately, the stove proved inadequate, requiring constant reloading every 45 to 60 minutes, even in the middle of the night. To make matters worse, the camp ran out of fire starters on our first night, forcing us to buy our own. The lack of preparation and excuses from UC were unacceptable. 2. The shower experience was incredibly uncomfortable. Operating the shower required pulling a chain, leaving us to awkwardly shower with one hand while using the other to pull the chain. Additionally, the water temperature was not warm enough, making for the most uncomfortable showers we have ever experienced. This was far from the luxurious glamping experience promised by UC. 3. Housekeeping services were nonexistent. Despite requesting a courtesy cleaning after our second night, the minimal effort put into it was highly disappointing. 4. The common areas were underwhelming and inadequate for accommodating guests. Although they were slightly warmer than the tents, they felt unfinished and poorly designed, creating a crowded and dysfunctional atmosphere. 5. Security was a major concern as the tents lacked proper locks or security measures. This meant that anyone could potentially enter any tent, leading us to keep our valuables in our car. This lack of security made us feel constantly uneasy and unsafe throughout our stay. Overall, our time at UC felt more like a punishment than a luxury experience. The location needs serious reconsideration, especially considering the significant temperature drops in Yellowstone, even in June. If they continue to operate in this location, they must make substantial improvements to the tents, including providing electricity and implementing better heating methods. Considering the exorbitant price of over $500 per night, we did not feel that the value exchange was justified. Even if the experience were offered for free, we would avoid it due to the extreme discomfort and lack of security.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at under canvas Yellowstone august 8th-11th. It was our very first time staying with under canvas and we were convinced we had to experience their other locations after our stay. We had talked about staying here for 2 years and when our trip finally arrived, we were taken aback at how the stay exceeded our expectations. The weather was perfect and the nights were cold but not unbearable. You definitely have to go with a state of mind that it will be chilly! Other reviews I read on other platforms complained about the cold and having to stoke the fire all night long, but what do you expect? Lol my husband and I had the time of our lives! We stayed in the stargazer tent and managed to see shooting stars on our first night and of course millions of stars through our roof window. We stayed in what I'm convinced, was the best tent on the property. No other tent in front of us or to our left. We desperately needed a trip away from the rat race and we found so much peace and rest with under canvas. We also booked our horse back riding and fly fishing experiences with the company and they ensured we had everything we needed and informed us of all directions before our excursions. We are truly grateful to the staff! Now, the only thing I could think could be better would be the snacks they offered in the lobby. Because you can't have food in your tent, we found ourselves walking up to the lobby to grab small bites after dinner. We didn't really care for any of the items and we wished the selection was better but that obviously didn't hinder our trip whatsoever. I can go on and on about the beauty that is UC Yellowstone. We're definitely excited to book our next trip with them at a different location!

Yelp
We stayed at Under Canvas in Moab several years ago and I loved it. A year ago we wanted to go to Yosemite and I mistook the Under Canvas in Yellowstone, for Yosemite, where they had announced they were going to build one, which I accidentally took for already having one in Yosemite and selected "sign me up", paid and then not ten minutes later, realized I had made a mistake. I called immediately upon recognizing my error only to find out that they have a strict "no refund" policy. They eventually agreed to move my reservation to May of the next year. At some point May was a conflict with a business commitment so a travel agent friend of mine called on my behalf. They moved it until July and relayed that they were not moving it again. The next representatives I tried to talk to about this, when I called to inquire about the several hundred dollars we were charged for the date move, said simply that " wow, I see they did change your reservation in spite of our "no change or refund policy". Making it all the more evident that I was going to get nowhere with this. So we went to Yellowstone. It was freezing as it turns out in july, and we could not get any hot water to come out of our faucet in the bathroom sink of our tent cabin suite. Also, I have a new appreciation for toilet seats in heated bathrooms. My poor husband stayed up all night feeding wood to the wood burning heater in the cabin. I woke up in the only warm spot in the middle of the bed. As I listened to the last of our kindling into that wood burning heater, I realized we weren't going to stay there much longer than the time it would take to get our luggage back in the car and head to the nearest, available, clean hotel room with a thermostat and hot water in the bathroom faucet. After all the fee additions when the dates were changed, the Under Canvas Tent Cabin Suite charges were up to over $800 per night. I can stay at my favorite beach side hotel in Laguna Beach for that price. This was not Laguna, or the four to five star accommodations one would expect to experience at that price point. I promised my husband I would never ask to go "glamping" at Under Canvas or anywhere else, ever again. I was happy to do it.

Yelp
A nice alternative to genuine camping or staying in a motel or inn near West Yellowstone. The kids enjoyed the novelty of it. We enjoyed the nightly live music and fire pits at the main tent. FYI: It does get cold at night. The stove is pretty small, so it won't keep a fire going all night. You will need to toss a few logs in it throughout the night. The bedding keeps you warm during the night, but once you get out of bed, the room can get chilly. Parking: There are a few parking lots throughout the campground, so plan on walking a short distance to and from your car with luggage, etc. Dining: There isn't an onsite restaurant, it is just outside the property at the ranch next door. We had a few meals there and it was good, not great.

Yelp
Glamping typically involves more comfort and luxury than traditional camping. If you are looking for a true glamping experience, worthly of the very high cost you are paying, DO NOT stay at Under Canvas West Yellowstone (UCWY). UCWY is a disaster. My flight was delayed and I arrived in the dark of night at 10:30 p.m. The sign for UC doesn't have any working lights, so I drove past it twice before I figured out where to turn. Once I got to the lobby I checked in and was taken to my tent in a golf cart. Once we got to the tent, the woman barely pulled on the zipper and told me to have a good night as she was walking off. It was very, very black in the tent and I had no idea where anything was or what to do. I suggested she come back and help me, which she did. It was very, very cold and foggy so I asked her to get the fire going and turn on some lights. She struggled with the fire and it went out 10 minutes later, so that didn't help. Considering the high cost of UCWY, and the fact they knew I was driving from the airport, you would think that they would have prepared the tent before I got there; started a fire so it was warm and welcoming, and turned on some lights, but apparently, this is beyond them. I was miserable and tired, so I did my best to get some sleep. The following morning I could see my breath in the tent. I texted the front desk and asked for someone to come start the fire. Now, I know how to create fire but this ugly metal tube is a totally different experience. The only way to build a fire in it is to get on your hands and knees and lean over to look inside. The other option is to sit on the floor and pray the fire keeps going. A very nice man showed up and he had the same struggle as we did the night before, but he got flames going, for about 10 minutes when it went out again. Still freezing, I finally got out of bed and put layers of clothing on, not a great morning. If you want a hot shower, you pull on the chain once so the water will heat, once it heats you pull on it again and get wet, soap yourself up standing in the room you can see your breathe in, and pull the chain again to rinse; the showers in the Air Force where better than this. If you are used to actual camping, and you have sooooooo much money you are willing to flush it down a toilet, I guess you could stay here, but why would you. There wasn't even 1 glass or cup in the tent, so I had to struggle to even take my medication before I went to sleep; Motel 6 will at least provide a plastic cup. The West Yellowstone area has a large number of hotels and I left UC first thing in the morning and went to the Hibernation Inn where I had a fireplace I could start with a wall switch, a full kitchen, a shower that worked like normal, a very comfortable bed and it cost much less than UC. You have been warned.

Yelp
We spent a month between Wyoming and Montana on vacation and Under Canvas was a total highlight. The tents are immaculate. The grounds/views are stunning. The restaurant is nice and so convenient to have. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our young son was incredibly enthusiastic about this place. He didn't want to leave and keeps asking to go back. It's a special place for families.

Yelp
Very disappointed. The only reason for 2 stars was the location in relation to the park entrance and comfortable beds. Our family was so excited for our one night staying at a suite, but upon leaving, we were thankful we only had to stay the one night. Tents: The smaller of our two tents was easy to heat considering the cold nights. The larger, master tent with the restroom was considerably larger, but the heat source was not. It definitely needs either a second heat source or at the very least, a larger one to be comparable to the tent size. We were out of fire materials before daybreak. We were provided portable chargers. These apparently were not charged beforehand and our phones/smart watches did not charge. Common/Lobby Area: Live music was nice, but, like other things, ended too early. It would have been nice to at least be able to purchase wine after the sun went down. Food/Dining: Gross. Waited over 2 hours for burgers, salad and some chicken fingers. Burgers were nothing more than a school cafeteria frozen patty. Fries and burgers were cold. Chicken fingers were good and fresh, but the ranch served as a dipping sauce tasted soured. Salad was the best meal. Drinks were not offered for refills or just new drink over course of meal. Sadly, breakfast was underwhelming as well. French Toast had scrambled eggs on bottom, little scrambler was inedible as was avocado toast. Many options from sample menu were not offered. Breakfast sandwich was fairly good. Cleanliness: Linens were fresh, floors/porches swept, main restrooms near lobby were clean. There was men's underwear--not ours--in our private restroom. Overall--this was not the luxury experience we were expecting. We would not do this again.

Yelp
I stayed here a reprieve from 5 days of camping, however, it was not that experience for me. Cons: I was absolutely freezing during my stay. They have a stove that took a bit over an hour to bring the temp up in my tent, then only continues to warm for 2 hours. The next morning I went to the front desk and asked for a tip on how to get to burn for longer. They said that's just as long as it burns and you have to just keep fixing it throughout the night. My second night I was so cold (the ground was frozen outside) after it burning out the second time I just went to my car instead to warm up. There are bathrooms with showers, but you can often expect to find all of them occupied and wait out in the cold and rain. Pros: the staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. I also went whitewater rafting through a company they work with and that was spectacular. For over $300 a night, don't stay here if the nights are still cold. I imagine in the summer it would be manageable, but still very pricey. There is no electricity in the tents, just charging blocks you get from the desk. Bathrooms (communal) are pull chain to start water and keep pulling to keep it going. Hope this helps people not have the bad experience I did!

Yelp
The tents themselves were a unique blend of cottages and tents, featuring ensuite bathrooms with hot, running water, king-size beds, and even a wood-burning stove for chilly nights and the nights gets cold. We were there in August and we kept the stove going at night. The river flowing through the campsite added to the rustic charm, while the forest and mountain views were breathtaking. The dirt roads were a bit of a challenge, getting very dusty and muddy after rain, but it was a reminder that we were camping despite the luxurious accommodations in our tent. Our tent was close to the parking lot. If yours is further, you may be looking at a longer walk to get to your tent. The main lobby and adjoining patios provided ample communal space for meals, reading, connecting with friends and family, and learning. While we did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the complimentary yoga classes and crafts, we enjoyed the acoustic live music and outdoor games every night while we indulged in evening s'mores around the campfire with a glass of wine. Even thought restaurant staff was friendly and the overall ambiance good, the food was OK. Next time, we may try different restaurants around which would require quite a bit of driving. Waking up to the sounds of nature and getting ready for our daily adventure to explore America's oldest national park was priceless. Overall, Under Canvas provided a unique camping experience that was both comfortable and close to nature, making it the perfect retreat for anyone looking to disconnect from modern life and reconnect with nature.

fantastic beds, clean showers. Beautiful flowers and less than twenty minutes from Yellowstone Westgate.

Yelp
With half of Yellowstone closed and ALPS in place we have a day to spend in west Yellowstone, and it will be a great time to explore the campsite and town. Plenty of activities offered, trails and the option to just hang out at the river in a hammock if you like. The kids are enjoying the nightly activity and we are loving the entertainment and bar car. Proximity to town is amazing as well as close to the park west entrance. Last night we turned on one of the many propane fire pit tables that are scattered randomly around, grabbed a blanket and had a cozy spot to watch the sunset with a beer before bed. Experienced campers will find it luxurious for camping standards but if you are not a camper keep in mind you're still in a tent with a wood burning stove that needs feeding every few hours if it's cold.

Yelp
Wow!!! We LOVED our stay here. If you're looking for luxury camping, off the grid a bit, this is the place. We had a stargazer tent, which was amazing for watch the moon. No electricity in the tent, but there was a wood burning stove to keep warm, two electric lanterns, and they provided a battery pack for phone charging. The tent was super clean and well appointed. We spent the early evening at the center tent, listening to live music, having fire roasted s'mores, and drinking a bottle of wine from the little horse trailer bar. We had breakfast at the lodge and, boy, was it delicious: an aioli breakfast sandwich and French toast. You couldn't ask for more than this unique experience. Edit: This is not a hotel. The tents have pull showers and press faucets with one temperature. I've seen the other reviews that complain about the amenities--so you should know that this is a "nice roughing it" experience. Read the website before you go. And then enjoy!

Yelp
Located in West Yellowstone. Under Canvas is also known as Glamping. This review is way over due we visited Yellowstone last year in July and our first stop was here at Under Canvas. Check is super easy. You check in at the big tent in between all the other smaller tents. Parking is around this location also. There are bathrooms and showers which is great. Within reasonable distance from your tent. The tents have various options from a small text to safari tent. Inside our tent we had a very comfortable bed, drawers, coat hanger, and fire wood with heater to keep us warm. I love the solitude. Even though it was already crossed off my list of places to stay it is well worth coming back to again and again.

Yelp
GLAMPING to the max!!! Loved loved loved it! It's pricey, but totally worth it! Great service! Everyone was friendly and helpful. The kids tent is sooo cute but I wouldn't let any kids under 10 sleep in there alone. It was perfect for our 21 and 14 year old. We got the tent with our own restroom, but the bath houses were great and since we had a big family, half of us used bath houses and the other half used the one shower in our tent. It was clean, water was hot! Pulling and holding on to the water string is annoying...but it guarantees that no one's shower is over 10 minutes! The lobby is great with drinks (water, tea & coffee) and cute games to play. It's a nice lounging area. S'mores is also great! The fire pits get crowded but we're nocturnal so we waited for everyone to leave and just enjoyed by ourselves. Don't forget to send free postcards! Our family had such a great time! Claire was our greeter and she was a sweetheart. Made sure we were settled in properly with all the info we needed. Clarke also helped us out. Gave great honest advice about navigating Yellowstone and getting us the supplies we needed. Olivia helped us with check-out and was also very helpful.

Yelp
We visited Under Canvas in West Yellowstone to kick off our Honeymoon. What a waste of $500. We upgraded so we had a bathroom. We were only there 1 night and there was no hot water in the tent but otherwise it was fine. The staff were friendly but they were so understaffed and you could feel how stressed they were. The bar didn't open when they said it would, they ran out of s'mores, there was no hot water in the lobby every time we checked, the place looked like it was under construction, it was just an all around terrible experience. Great location but you'd be better off at a motel. For $500 a night, we expected the amenities that were promised to be available, and they were not. We were so disappointed.

Yelp
Staying here was a very unique, interesting experience. There are some things I had wish we had known before booking: - The heat of the tent comes from a pellet stove that is fairly unreliable. The girl who set up the room could not get it to stay lit. As neither of us have much experience camping, we struggled as well. My boyfriend got up multiple times throughout the night to relight it as it does get cold at night. - Try your hardest to check in during daylight. We got there at night and it was stressful because you can't see anything. The girl trying to get us to our room got lost multiple times. They drive you in a golf cart and we are holding on to our luggage for dear life the whole time. - Regarding checkin, make sure you take a picture of what they make you sign regarding safety. You sign your name on a whiteboard, which I understand is for eco friendly reasons but after staying here I wish I had taken a picture of the liability form as I did not feel safe and secure here. - The showers you have to hold with one hand and bathe with the other. We had warm water. At night it is very cold, so when you get out of a shower wet you will be freezing, especially if your towel is damp from the night before. - Same thing with the sink, one hand only, except with only cold water. Best of luck shaving. - They should tell you this important safety note, but they don't. Do not put anything on the pellet stove. You will burn it and your tent will become very smoky. - You cannot bring any food into the tent because of bears - Going off of safety, anyone can unzip your tent as there is no lock on it. I felt like this should have been disclosed. I put all our valuables in the car. - There is no service or internet - All of this being said, the location was beautiful. The beds are comfortable. The stars at night are amazing. The staff is friendly (though most are fairly unknowledgeable. Most are teenagers/college aged). Overall, it was a unique experience. My main frustration is dealing with all of the above at the price point of 350+ a room per night. It is completely outrageous. If you are comfortable paying that given everything above, you will have a wonderful time.

Yelp
Seriously the most amazing "glamping" experience I've ever done with my family... highly recommend staying here as a couple or with your family!

Yelp
I'm felt compelled to write a review BEFORE my family and I have stayed at Under Canvas. We booked our tent via Hotels.com. We received an e-mail directly from UC stating they were full. We asked for them to keep our money in case a cancellation came up. They agreed. Today I received an e-mail that a tent did become available and we were able to officially book. Jolie, the Director of Reservations, was nothing short of amazing. In a day and age where customer service is being replaced by computers there is a personal touch or face of a business to reach out to if a problem arises that is lacking - and needed. If the owner of Under Canvas sees this - Jolie deserves a raise. She is a great 'face' for your company. Looking forward to our stay! Chris

Yelp
Our second under canvass stay stay as part of our summer road trip. It's a much larger site as compared to the Grand Canyon. It's vast and beautiful but the weather can be very unpredictable. It rained the whole time we were there, not to mention the cold. Regardless, we had a great time. The amenities we're good and they provided a lot of firewood. It got down to the mid 30s at night and having the firewood is a must. As long as your fireplace is kept burning, it's really comfortable and cozy. However, the shower, even with hit water, can be a bit nippy. I could only imagine when the weather is good! Not really much to say other than I'm really impressed with under canvass. Would definitely do this again.

Yelp
My wife and I added a night at Under Canvas to our Yellowstone honeymoon vacation, and could not have been luckier. The staff was amazingly generous, offering us a Stargazer tent upgrade, a handwritten card, and they covered our dinner at the adjacent Bar & Restaurant at the ranch. Out of all the places we've stayed this past week... Ritz Carlton, The Lodge at Jackson Hole, a few Marriott's... this was by far the highlight of the trip. Beautiful ranch, unparalleled views, and truly upscale camping. We can't wait to explore their sister locations at other National Parks.

Yelp
Beautiful, quiet, happy ranch that feels like a private slice of Yellowstone. This location has a large stream for fishing / swimming, ample room for biking, and is surrounded by distant mountains. The tents are comfortable and reasonably separated to you can maintain privacy. They might do well to make a section of the camp adults only, but I found the property large enough to make your experience whatever you like. Shower facilities and other communal areas are all well maintained, clean and well appointed. I really enjoyed the nightly fires and ability to easily socialize with other people at the camp. Overall, we look forward to coming back and really loved this beautiful setting! Quick tip: Try sites 9, 10 or 11 for max solitude.

Yelp
This place is truly beautiful. I found out about "under canvas" few years ago and finally had this amazing opportunity. Clean bed sheets, comfortable mattress, hot shower, plus s'mores and hot cocoa... friendly staffs. I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
To Under Canvas West Yellowstone, By far the greatest experience for my daughter and I. This place is magical and if you are looking for a disconnect and a reconnect, then this is your place. Staff were nothing short of amazing; my daughter and I are incredibly lucky to have come across some of the best group of young men and women in the hospitality industry. This is not quite glamming nor is it camping but it is the right mix of the two. If you are not in though with nature then this style of lodging is not for you. So please do not come with expectations of a hotel! However come with expectations of an in between hotel and camp ground. Thank you to Will, Meghan and Jess (another nickname) they were beyond perfect and made the experience more magical than one could ever expect! So magical my daughter asked to celebrate her birthday at Zion next!

Yelp
Under Canvas was an absolutely incredible experience. I like camping but I like Glamping even more. What can I say, I'm a princess but I also like the outdoors. When my friend and I went to visit Yellowstone national park, we stayed at Under Canvas. We had a teepee set up where we had two cots and they came with all of the works: warm blankets, pillows, and a sleeping bag. There is a decent bathroom situation that has multiple stalls and also has showers. There was also a cute lodge/restaurant nearby where we were able to eat, have hot cocoa, relax and they also had some board games and books. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to feel like we were camping without having to set a ton of equipment up, bring stuff with us, and deal with a situation without running water. It was so nice to be out in nature and have an incredible view of the stars. I would happily stay again at any Under Canvas where ever they have them.

Yelp
Under the canvas is cool but definitely not worth the money your spending. We got a stargazer-which is the most expensive canvas that was offered and we couldn't see a single star. It was cloudy, but we figured it would clear up at night and we could see a couple stars- this wasn't the case. It started to rain at night and we didn't end up seeing anything. We tried talking to the receptionist the front desk to see if we could get a portion of our money back- but she said that we were warned the weather could effect our view from the star outlook, and in all fairness we knew this but we were still disappointed. Our neighbors said they couldn't see anything the night before either so this might be something to think about before booking! Also we didn't have any towels when we first got there, and we called the receptionist to bring us some along with some ice and they said they would- it took about four hours for the towels which is ridiculous for the amount of money we spent and the receptionist said it's because they ran out of towels-how can there not be towels at a place that charges $800/night?! Under the canvas just started in May, so it's a fairly new company in Yellowstone, but some of these kinks should be worked out after the first week or two of the business opening. The restaurant food was not as good as we thought and service was very slow- the food expectations didn't meet the prices. The reception does offer free coffee and tea as well as a small selection of grab and go salads/meat and cheeses for purchase. The highlight of the trip was the free s'mores that were offered- there were a couple of bonfires that were going at night and families were sitting by the fires which was nice and cozy- everyone was very friendly by the fire as well. The view was very nice and they did have a horse stable nearby. Overall the staff was nice but after our one night at the stargazer, we probably won't come back since it's not worth the money- also no WiFi! Luckily we had service but we were surprised.

Yelp
The restaurant was really underwhelming. They don't want you to bring in food to your campsite because of bears. There isn't cooking equipment for you to use. So, you would need to bring your own food, equipment and table to prepare dinner yourself. You don't park next to your tent. You have to walk about 100 yards to your tent. It's a pain to back everything to your tent. Bring a small bag for a change of clothes and basic bathroom items and just pack that to the tent. Leave your suitcase in the car. So, we were really looking forward to dinner. We checked out the upscale menu online. We were excited after a long day in the park. It's ran like a snack bar. You have to wait in line to place an order. For anything. A drink. Ketchup. Napkins. Water. Food. And you have to wait in this same line to get seated. So everyone is in this jammed up line in the entryway of the restaurant. It's just not a good look. They have a full bar with $100 bottles of wine. But, no one is going to bring that to your table. You will have to order it in the snack bar line. The food is ok. If it was bad, it would have been a pain to try to get it corrected. It's really not overpriced. It's better than what is offered inside the park. I would have played this differently. Sit at the bar and the bartender may give you better service. Or just eat in West Yellowstone before check in or go back to West Yellowstone for dinner and a better dinning experience.

Yelp
Under Canvas called at 3:40 PM the day before our 3 night stay began to cancel. They did not care we had driven from San Diego and were already in Montana. Left us scrambling to find replacement accommodations with less the 24 hours notice. Asked to speak to their "executive team" who made the decision and was told no I could not. Asked for the names and contact info of the executive team and was told they would not give it to me. Worst experience ever. What was the compensation offered? A free nights stay if we ever come back. A definite avoid. Complete lack of customer service, sincerity and just plane poor business.

Yelp
I love under canvas! I went to the Zion location last May and it was perfect. I had a tent with a bathroom which was great. This year I went to Yellowstone and had a tent without a bathroom, which I figured would be more than fine. The bath houses look nice from the outside, but the bathrooms themselves are sub-par for the price you pay to "glamp". These bathrooms are similar to, if not worse than campground bathrooms. They are cramped, you have to hold the shower handle with one hand to keep it running, the shower heads spray all over the floor, toilet, and sink. The water is very hot even when requesting it to be turned down. Like seriously, hotter than a hot tub. It literally feels like an unsafe temperature. When someone uses another bathroom in the same bath house, the smell comes up through the drain. Think about getting a "clean" shower and smelling everyone else's bodily matter. Everything else is pretty great, other than the moldy salad I bought at the grab and go station. The common area is warm and clean, there are plenty of games, and the restaurant's food is pretty good as well. I would recommend you familiarize yourself with how to build a fire and keep it going before you come here. I've seen a lot of people complain in reviews about the cold, but it's not terrible if you have a little bit of experience. It got up to 90 degrees in our tent and it was awesome, you just have to throw a couple logs on in the middle of the night. Overall I love this location except for the bathrooms! Their quality is not aligned with the expense of staying here. Although it's considered glamping, their slogan is "comfort in nature". Be prepared to connect with the world around you. There's no wifi so it's a real camping experience.

Yelp
If you want the camping experience but all the amenities of a hotel this is for you! However, you still get bugs and are subject to the elements so make sure you bring bug repellent and appropriate clothing. Every tent comes with a usb charger, a king sized bed, and a little log burner (which will save your butt at night because it gets coldddd at night). You can also ask for an extra cot. Service was friendly and when I went there was continental breakfast that was complimentary.

Yelp
Ohhh Under Canvas ... I so wanted to love you. The location looked great, the experience looked like it would be original and enjoyable. But your lack of organization made me longing for a motel. The accommodations were very cool and unique, however the staff and management put a dark cloud over our stay. When we arrived after a long day at Yellowstone, the front desk receptionist told us our reservation had been cancelled due to COVID-related staffing cuts. One of her colleagues pulled up her email and said this was a directive from corporate, reading me a list of talking points ... verbatim. While I am certainly in support of making smart choices and taking COVID precautions seriously, the hotel never contacted me in advance to let me know the reservation was cancelled. While the staff said that "someone at corporate" contacted me, I never received an email or call. In fact, when reinstating my reservation (thankfully), they asked for my contact information because their system didn't have it ... making me further wonder how they would have contacted me about the cancelled reservation in the first place. On top of all this, they tried to push us into a "safari tent," which has a shared bathroom. I specifically had reserved a tent with a private bathroom out of sanitation concerns during the COVID outbreak. They further disputed this with me until I pulled up my confirmation to prove that I had, indeed, booked a tent with a private bathroom. This is just the tip of the iceberg from my experience at Under Canvas. I would say that maybe my situation was a one-off, but the same thing happened to the couple that checked in after us. My advice: Traveling during COVID can be stressful enough. Save yourself the headache (and the money) and stay at a motel. The concept is cool, but executed poorly.

Yelp
We had a great experience here. We had a tent far away from the bathroom, in the last row and no one really near us. We had great views and did not hear a lot of commotion. It was a walk to the bathroom but we didn't mind. We stayed in the safari tent and the bed was super comfortable and big (I believe a king size). The staff picked up our luggage and brought it to our tent which was nice. This was a great alternative to camping since we didn't want to rent or lug camping gear for the one night we were staying near Yellowstone. Re bathrooms. I somehow timed it that I showered right after they cleaned the shower room. I also figured out how to keep the water on without having to pull the chain. Look up and you'll notice the chain connects to a lever, the shower I had I just pushed the lever at the top by the shower head and it stayed on! But regardless you aren't at a hotel so keep that in mind.

Yelp
Awesome "glamping" experience! As a girl who has been camping often, this offers many many advantages over typical camping experience. For one thing, the teepee-like tent is already set up, and the inside is pretty spacious with room for 2 fold-able chairs and a small table. The sleeping bags kept us warm, at some points, almost too warm. This is quite a feat given that temperatures drop below freezing at night. The bathrooms were pretty clean and there was a closet for towels, which I appreciated a lot. We had the chance to talk with some of the other campers over the nightly campfire, and there were ample stargazing opportunities. The Milky Way was astonishingly clear. The only downsides might stem from the location. It takes about an hour to get into the main loops in Yellowstone through the west entrance, though it's a beautiful drive. One other note: you have to take a dirt road to get into the campground, and there are a number of cows that graze nearby who sometimes wander onto it. I found this rather hilarious.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my stay last week! Awesome experience and didn't have any concerns of wild animals. Great concept, stargazer tent was nice but I found myself wanting to stay up but the comfortable bed finally won out. Had a tent with bad zipper and it for repaired right after I reported it.

Yelp
If you've had a real camping experience before, this will be a nice step up. If you've never truly roughed it, this might end up being a shock to the system. My bf and I got a Safari Tent (king size bed, public washroom, stove in tent) in early June. The washrooms were a 1 min away. They're individual rooms and inside you'll find a toilet and shower that uses a pull lever to operate. The one I used was clean but I could see how inconsiderate guest could ruin it for others by not picking up after themselves. (This is not a hotel!) The stove was tricky to use, but one of the workers was able to start the fire and inform me on how to keep the smoke out of the tent. It was windy outside, so that made stoves difficult to operate. The King-size bed was awesome. The tent itself was super sturdy and kept out the wind and cold. In terms of price point, I'd probably reconsider reserving this place again at the price I found it for on Expedia. It's definitely an interesting experience!

Yelp
Exactly what I wanted! Safari tent at base of mountains and forests. The staff was the absolute best. We had an anniversary card ( signed by everyone) and bottle of wine delivered to our tent the first night. After a week, another note with a cooler filled with drinks! What a great surprise. Note: you need to read the descriptions- which clearly state what you are getting. The poor reviews I see were silly-- it is very cold at night, duh! You have a wood burning stove! Not all tents have water and toilet ( it is in the description--READ!). No electric-- but used a converter for my husbands CPAP. No food in tents (we snacked and put back in car cooler.) Dining room and food were excellent-- Hot tub was hot, pool was fine for us northerners. All around great time!

Yelp
Staff is great! Hard to find a solid crew like this now a days. Can tell they work hard and genuinely like helping customers. I never felt like a burden :)). If I could afford to stay longer I would!! Keep up the good work

Yelp
We stayed one night and it was a nice change from our regular backpacking lifestyle I haven't slept in a camping area with people for so long I forgot they are very noisy at night. (Only draw back) People bear the bathrooms are noisy. We had a King bed Safari and it was nice comfy and warm. Bathrooms and showers were clean and very nice. We also had a teepee with cots for our teens. They were fine but of course not as great as our bed Friendly staff and overall a good place. Close to West but far enough away Would stay here again if needed a room and didn't want to pay West hotel prices

Yelp
Couldn't be happier with this place. We stayed in a king size bed with stove, dresser and sitting area and had a wonderful time. Our bed broke on our second night and the manager placed us in another tent and even comped the night for us for the minor inconvenience. We also met so many great people. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Yelp
this place was a dream! I don't usually write reviews but I feel like this place should average more stars. We booked a safari tent and it was over in a separate enclosed area from the other tents. super private with a beautiful view of the river. most of the tents and tipis were closer together in the main area of the campsite, but I don't think it looked terrible. If privacy is a concern for you I'd recommend requesting the separate area when booking! In addition, the location is beautiful, you definitely get to experience "Big Sky" Montana. The bed was comfortable and the blankets were super warm, with the stove lit it was actually kind of hot. The staff was friendly, the manager talkative and we had fun at the communal campfire talking and having a few beers with other campers. They don't allow food in the campsite (but yes you can bring drinks!) so they recommend that you eat at the lodge restaurant down the road... I was skeptical, i assumed they said it was great because it was the only option, but it really was THAT good. Upscale, local food with a view of the valley and tents in the distance.. Awesome! To sum up, I really don't have a single complaint.. I only wish we had stayed longer!

Yelp
I had quite a few grievances with this place, as a person that both enjoys back country camping and nice hotels. The first and the most major one- there are NO bear boxes on premises. Because this is bear country, you are not allowed to bring food or sweet drinks to your tent (note this! It's hard to plan out meals if there are no refrigerators and you have to keep all your food in the car the entire time! All restaurants around are expensive!) there are no bear boxes at the main tent for trash so expect to keep all waste in your car. This is consistent with a carry in-carry out camping philosophy, but most campsites I've been to would still have bear boxes. Also, you don't pay 250$ a night for campsites. The experience is unique and pretty hip, and if you're a family with kids it could be rewarding- stars are incredible, campsite has really good views, authentic ranch vibes. If this place was more affordable, I'd give it 5 stars, but 500 dollars later im pretty pissed. With no bear boxes, how are you supposed to dispose of feminine hygiene products?? Leaving them in the open bathroom trash is much more likely to attract bears than having some food in your tent, and I sure as hell don't want to keep them in my car. Now the tent itself- the bed was extremely comfortable and the blankets were amazing. We were provided with a little table and two chairs that we could easily carry outside to sit and enjoy the TRULY magnificent stars. The main issue I had with the tent is that it had holes in it at the top, which brought A LOT of flies in. Over two days, I killed 10 flies, and became an expert fly hunter. The wooden stove is a bit of a pain but that's just part of the camping experience. To sum it up, NOT WORTH IT. The price FAR surpasses the experience. Three stars for location, aesthetic, and comfortable bed, but for the price, I am outraged that there are no bear boxes provided, and no where to get rid of trash.

Yelp
They should immediately remove luxury from their marketing and website. We arrived from yellowstone on a rainy day mid June. I went to check in in the main tent. It was freezing in that tent and no amenities were offered like a drink. There is a lounge space but it seemed to have the entire staff's stuff laying all around it. No one was sitting there but I saw backpacks and mugs, water bottles. I felt like I was intruding in a space that should be left for guests. I was given a map and was told to drive and park near our tent. Again it was pouring rain and no one offered to meet us and help with luggage or get the fire started in the tent. Once in the tent it was freezing and we rushed to get warm. I was so looking forward to a hot shower and blow drying my air in a large bathroom but little did we know, no electricity and no hot water to even wash your hands in the sink. There is only hot water in the shower and my husband had to pull down the lever the whole time so I could try and relax in the shower. NOT LUXURY at all. Knowing we had 4 of us they only gave us two towels and I had to call for more and an extra blanket. This place is a joke. I did not see this in the fine print. So we continue on, kids want smores so we walk a long walk to the reception tent to get the smores packs and the fire isn't even started on time. We had to ask (not luxury) and the kits were a bit weak. We go back to our freezing room and add more wood to the fire. In the morning it was very cold as we could not keep up the fire all night. The staff at check in failed to tell me I had to order the coffee crate delivery the day prior but someone did come and bring it to us. I call to the reception (because there is clear lack of any communication on what is going on at this place) as to what the breakfast entails. I was told the breakfast in the restaurant would have parfait's and a nice grab and go and we could not eat in the restaurant. This is confusing because we ate in the restaurant the night before. I asked where can we eat, and he said the shared tent but there is no heat in them and it was freezing. We show up in the rain again after a long walk to the restaurant, and they give me a paper bag with an orange, rice krispy treat and a granola bar. I kid you not. I was like you want me to feed my kids a rice krispy treat for breakfast?! They filled up our coffees and I called the manager Erik. He comped me back $100 and we made break fast in our RV. Again this is not luxury or worth $400+ He was nice and apologetic but again didn't know what the restaurant was serving. As a manager I would think you would know what was going on. Pro's-surprisingly the food for dinner in the restaurant was very good and good quality (it was shocking). But the service is lacking and you have to go up to the bar to order your drinks. There is no service and this is definitely not luxury. More cafeteria style and they give you plastic cutlery and cups. I thought it was because of COVID but after reading reviews from 2019, they were doing it then. I am not sure what is wrong with this place. They don't seem to get luxury at all. Although the plastic was recyclable its still a waste. The staff was also responsive, quick and very nice when I did have to call to ask for towels, blankets and more fire starter. But all that should have been in the room already. No one seems to be in charge of "luxury" at this place. Needless to say we couldn't wait to leave and get back on the road in Yellowstone. We stayed at nicer RV parks with better amenities. I thought the grounds were beautiful and loved the wild flowers all around. But the tent and surrounding areas like the restaurant and shared spaces did not live up to the hype. You need hot water at the sink and you need electricity. Also the furnishings were lacking too. It's also noisy and you will hear others well into the night till about midnight. And then if you are near the farm cows will wake you up at the crack of dawn. This place and experience came across as cheap and I never felt they made the effort to please their guests or go out of their way (especially when it was pouring rain). I didn't get any info at check in, there is no heat anywhere and it's cold at night, rain or not. Definitely not luxury and I would like my money back to be honest. I felt like the marketing and website was inaccurate. My kids said we got ripped off. I agreed.

Yelp
We stayed here on opening night for the 2016 season and had a great experience. It's pricey per night for what you get (tent with beds, no electricity or private bathroom) but the experience is worth it. The temperatures were around 42 degrees Fahrenheit when we went to bed but with 6 blankets, we kept warm and slept great (just don't open your window or anything). I love the idea of camping but like sleeping in beds so "glamping" was great for me! Since Under Canvas is located away from the town center, you're really able to enjoy the night sky and clean, fresh air. We stayed in the first tent, which is right near the main tent where you check in so it was noisy as a lot of people were socializing in the main tent. But it was also close to the bathroom facilities, which was nice. Eventually, I would like to return and stay for at least two nights to get the full community-type experience. I'd also opt for a tent with heat and a private bathroom. (Hmm, that sounds like a hotel... so I'll stick with the bare minimum again!)

Local M.

Yelp
We actually stayed at their hotel but we had a nice time. It was quant but a little outdated in the rooms. The bed was small, their was no AC, and the TV did not work. The only food was their restaurant, which was a little over priced for the food.
