Under Kastanjen - Restaurang & Café

First dinner in Stockholm and the meatballs and mussels were fantastic. Family owned and great, friendly service. The two sons of the owners were the sweetest waiters and clearly want to make sure their guests are taken care of. Thanks for a wonderful meal!

This place was like finding an oasis in the desert! There are plenty of great spots to eat in Old Town, but this was amazing from the quiet corner to the beautiful tree right outside the café. Our lunch was delicious with plenty of options as well as the desserts! Service was fast and all the works were very friendly and polite. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend!

Nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. Meatballs were nice in a delicious creamy sauce. Soup was delicious and full of ingredients. Steak was acceptable but would not order again.

We had a delicious meal here. A lovely local restaurant with genuinely friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. House wine was excellent too. Highly recommend for a non typical touristy place not far from the old town square.

When I want a Swedish Fika, this is what I imagine. So many options with the classics, like for instance cinnamon buns, carrot cake and kärleksmums. There were also so many vegan options and the two of us couldn't decide so we ended up with three; cinnamon bun, carrot cake and a pumpkin spice square with streusel topping. They were so good, and we'll be back for more! One note though, it would have helped to have the plantbased options marked out in some way, with a V, a P or a leaf or something. When we asked what was vegan the cashier had to read from a note, we felt very awkward and bothersome with the queue behind us. We felt stressed to make our choices and with the huge queue blocking the display, we couldn't even see exactly what the cashier was pointing to. If we had, we probably would have wanted to try att least one more pastry. But very tasty, cozy, and with friendly staff.

Had a bruschetta and it was divine! Didn’t try another other dishes but seems like they have good quality of food! Good selection of wine as well, overall a nice experience

Whenever I return to Stockholm, I always go to this restaurant because the location is fantastic. Once again, the experience was absolutely positive. Since I need to eat gluten- and lactose-free, I was able to enjoy a delicious and traditional plate of meatballs. The staff was very kind and attentive to my dietary restrictions. Highly recommended!

Wanted to try the Swedish fish stew - it was a huge serve and quite tasty. Loved the bread that went with it. My tour guide recommended this place for its carrot cake!
